This review is long overdue, as the work was completed months ago. Work itself was average or worse than average, but he talks himself up through the whole process while putting everyone else down. According to him, everyone else does very inferior work, especially the customer. He wants everyone to pay for full setups and wouldnt adjust small things without charging the full fee. And his setup is one with high action despite requesting the opposite, and when asked to correct it, was told this is the lowest he would set it up as any lower and it would buzz with heavy strums. He doesnt understand that everyones different, and with my light playing style, low action is far more comfortable. I eventually took it to a different luthier after paying the full price, and got it adjusted to my liking. Several months later, no instances of buzzing. You should also know that this shop is very creepily located at the top floor of a very dirty and musty house with little ventilation and poor lighting. There are much better options out there if you look. Save your money!
My first experience with Third Floor Guitars was outstanding! I wasnt surprised, however, because I had read all the positive reviews which is why I made the appointment in the first place! Dominics extensive knowledge about guitars, his impeccable work, his fair pricing, quick turnaround and obvious passion for what he does are so impressive that I will bring all of my guitars to him whenever they need attention! Last but not least, Dominics warm personality and wonderful sense of humor enhanced the experience even more!
Dom was very friendly and accommodating. He did a great job on the guitars, and explained what needed to be done and what did not. He also explained what things were in-between necessary and unnecessary so I could decide if it was worth it to me. And the prices were already very reasonable! I will definitely bring my babies to him again, and recommend him to anyone in the area. Quite frankly, hes worth a drive even if youre not that close to Malden.
So - I called Dominic from 3rd Floor Guitars and he said I could bring my guitar to him the that day. Dominic had my guitar back to me the next day!!! This was fantastic!!The work Dominic did on the guitar was excellent. My guitar was a newer guitar that was in desperate need of a good set-up. Dominic made my guitar 1,000 percent better!Lastly - Dominic is a real pleasure to do business with.
IF you love your Guitar and want it repaired or just set up, Dominic does it all. Fast turnaround,Excellent Work, and very reasonable pricing. He explains things well and is a great guy to do business with. He won’t sell you anything you don’t want or need. 5 stars
Recently went to TFG with a 40-year-old Yamaha FG-331 I had been given a few years ago that, despite the sentimental connection, was pretty much unplayable as I was looking to start playing again. Domenic answered my questions about the guitar, asked a bunch of questions about my playing, and explained the necessary fix / repair / re-build RE: saddle, bridge and pins CLEARLY.Besides quick and reasonably priced, how was the QUALITY of the work? When I got it back, my wife, who gave me the guitar, actually said, “I really didn’t know that you played guitar that well...” - this guitar is now a joy to have.I honestly only went to TFG because it was obvious from his postings that Dom loves his work. I will be going back, and I would recommend that you do as well, because he’s really, really GOOD at his work.
Dom is a total pro! Great customer service, reasonably priced and a quick turnaround. Very happy with my set up.
Offer disgustingly unfair prices on merchandise
Trustworthy and awesome work, I may have spent a lot more repairing my les Paul’s electronics, but luckily I came here and it was done the same day and was given a great deal, thanks!
Dom is fabulous. Funny and Professional he gets the job done. Great experience and goin back for more
Great personal service! Dons the man to see for a simple set up, a complex repair or a full-on restoration.
I took my new Gretsch g2622 here for a setup and was thrilled with the result. Dom was really helpful and took the time to ask me about the way I play, style of music, etc. The whole process was customized and super pro. The turnaround time was great and Im loving the way the guitar sounds. Super happy with it and would highly recommend this service to any guitar player.
This guy under-promises and over-delivers. Ive been playing out and having my instruments repaired by all the name guys in the Boston area for the past 20+ years, and Dom has been the most consistent, reliable, fastest and fairly-priced across the board that Ive encountered. Trust him to work on your instrument to the best of its playability, which he understands as a working musician - he has consistently nailed it for me. Great guy, legitimately passionate and enthusiastic about what he does, fair, trustworthy, reliable, top notch.
Recently had Dominick set up my Guild. Dominick answered my questions, asked me a ton of questions to make sure the set up suited my style of play and the turn around was quick and excellent quality. Hes honest, fair, knowledgable, and a nice guy. I will be a repeat customer!
Quick response, speedy turnaround, excellent work - a decent guy too.Glad to support local business while he turned my DIY guitar into something that played and sounded better than I could have imagined.Would not hesitate to recommend.
Second trip up to Third Floor in recent months and couldnt be happier with the results again. Brought in a bass that hasnt been played in a number of years. Bad input jack, wiring harness that looked like spaghetti and a neck that hadnt been adjust or cleaned in years. Picked her back up in a great turn around time. Electronics cleaned up nicely, fretboard shined up and action sitting perfect! Quality work and honest price. Highly recommend Third Floor Guitars!
Third Floor Guitars is the BEST place to go if you want to see your dream guitar come true or if you want your favorite guitar to keep its best shape. Domenic Frizzi (owner and tech) KNOWS what hes doing. Every time I go there with a crazy idea, he manages not only to make it true but to improve it.
Brought my LTD-mh400m here for a setup. It has a Floyd Rose, and a few of the guitar techs around the Boston area I called didnt exactly instill confidence in me when I told them about this. Domenic truly seems to be a pro when it comes to working on guitars. He does custom builds and serious electrical and hardware work, plus hes a friendly guy who seems to care about what your concerns are. He lowered the action perfectly on my guitar and set it up beautifully. Plays great, and he got it back to me literally in under 24 hours. Ill be taking my Schecter to him soon as well.
Talk about service! I dropped off my new Fender J-Bass because it needed to be set up ... badly. Not only did Domenic complete the job quickly, but the instrument sounds awesome. Five Stars are not enough stars for Third Floor Guitars. More like 10!
Made my guitar solid with upgrades. Very happy with price & work. Good guy
No more paying ridiculous prices for professional work. Fast turnaround and quality work for reasonable prices!
I brought my guitar to Dom that hadnt been touched in 15 years and he made it even better than i remembered. There is no other place i will be going for my guitars from now on!!
Made my lefty SX Tele play like a custom shopTele. Stays in tune.. fun to play...amazing what someone who knows and cares can do!Fix them, rebuild them and can play them..⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Thx man
I cannot truly judge an instrument until Dom has set it up.
I brought my old Gibson 1980 LP to him it was unplayable and had not been played in many many years thought it was done . He went over everything on the guitar and gave it back to me a real gem absolutely amazing
