Totally love their donuts and the service is one of a kind. They have a great menu selection and the prices are very reasonable too.
Weve heard the fame of Blue Star Donuts. So when we walked pass this tiny outlet, we had to stop, especially when they also serve Verve Coffee! The donut selection were displayed like jewels – each on its own plate. So, instead of the instant turn off when you see trays of donuts stacked up that says too much fat and sugar, their excellent merchandizing did its job. We got sucked in. It is no longer a yes or no decision, it is which one should we pick. As a rule, I hate donuts because they are so unhealthy. But I made an exception that day to reward excellent marketing. I chose a jelly donut. After taking 15 minutes to brush/scrape off all the icing sugar on top, I remember biting into a dough that is light and spongy (not cake-like), with jelly filling that taste real and not too sweet. Yes, the rumours were correct. That was an excellent donut. It is worthy of pausing a healthy diet – just once!
A simple storefront offering sophisticated flavors of doughnuts. These doughnuts are more of a post-meal dessert than a morning treat. Hours are as listed or until doughnuts run out. Individual doughnuts run around $3 - $5 depending on flavor. If youre looking for a more traditional SoCal pink box doughnut offering - this wont really hit the mark. A fun addition to the Manhattan Beach area.
The excitement ends when you bite in.Greasy pretentious donuts.
Interesting variety of donuts, worth the price!
Excellent coffee Wonderful donuts
Yum! So good! First time here and asked for some suggestions. The employee was super friendly and helpful. I got 3 donuts and loved them all. Yes they are a bit pricey ... but well worth the cost ... not like I will go and get that many donuts every morning ... (thou I wish I could!). The donuts were separately wrapped and placed in a box. I was able to eat them on my drive down toward Newport Beach without making a big mess. Will definitely go out of my way every once in a while to treat myself.Tried the Venice location and had old donuts and indifferent workers.Came back here and was happy once again ...
This small location is home to big flavour! This place is basically a bar to order donuts, which are made fresh and change daily. The flavours are unique and made at limited quantities, so they can run out. The staff are friendly, so ask questions if you have them! There is some public seating right outside the location. Parking is a mix of street parking and underground.
Very good donuts. I still personally prefer Side Car in Santa Monica, however, this is local and very tasty. The space is pretty small inside. They have a decent selection. This was the first day and they were handing out free donuts. I will update the review once I have been here a few more times as I would like to try their espresso drinks as well.
These donuts are flavor explosions compacted in perfectly textured morsels. On my first visit I enjoyed the olive oil & orange and on my 2nd visit one with passion fruit glaze. Seriously, both were tremendous!
Disappointing. Just stopped by the Manhattan Beach Blue Star. Im staying at the Shade Hotel, so there are probably 4-5 competing coffee places within a 100 yard radius. I chose Blue Star and arrived at about 7:30 am on a Friday. It was completely empty inside and the only employee, who was in the back, had to be called out by me for service. I ordered an Americano and a donut. After paying and waiting for about 5 minutes, she told me that something is wrong with the machine. But there is a pot of self-serve drip coffee already made. You can take a cup from that. That was it. No suggestion for an alternate beverage. No offer of a refund. I was very surprised. To make matters worse, the self-serve coffee was not well made. It was too bitter and brought to mind the kind of coffee you might get at a garage sale. For what its worth, when I walked by again at 8:30, it was still completely empty, all while Starbucks, Coffee Bean and Pain Quotidien just down the street were teeming with people.Folks, the rent on Manhattan Beach Blvd. is not cheap, meaning you have to sell quite a lot of coffee and donuts to stay in business, let alone make a profit. The future does not look bright for Blue Star.
The best donuts I’ve tried! There was so many to choose from so I asked the cashier about the Pumpkin Spice brûlée donut and it was just as delicious as she said it would be. My little one had the Cinnamon and Sugar donut and it was very moist and really flavorful as well.
Amazing donuts.. especially the Blueberry Bourbon Basil, Hard Apple Cider Fritter, Cointreau Crème Brûlée...but the best, in my opinion: Lemon Poppy Buttermilk Old-Fashioned.And the one, selling the donuts and looking like Lenny Kravitz
Did not buy anything so no comments.
Always amazing! Delicious flavors, well made. Pricey but well worth it
Neat and clean. One doughnut will fill you up. The inside is tiny and has no seating, so took one star off. The location is prime and theres many shops nearby. Its within walking distance of the beach and several hotels.
They dont make them there. The donuts are shipped over to the store and iced there. For 5 bucks I want a fresh donut. What I cant understand is why Beckers, a 3rd generation bakery 2 blocks away doesnt get more traffic, and why these guys do.
The old fashioned is phenomenal. They arent like normal doughnuts. A little denser. But amazing nonetheless!
I went here first thing in the morning, and all the varieties were available. We got a few to try, and all of them were super fresh and delicious!! The passion fruit cacao nib and the raspberry rosemary are incredible!
Over priced trendy mediocrity. The Donuts themselves are 3 stars. But when you take into consideration the price. Please.
A bit pricey but so worth it! Highly recommend the matcha donut. The staff there were lovely too!
Didn’t have the donuts but many interesting flavor combos to choose from. They serve Verve coffee (locally roasted); very good Nitro cold brew!
Not a fan..maple doesn’t even taste like maple and a lot of the flavors are just trying too hard. Try else where.
So, so. Inconsistent quality. Definitely NOT worth $4.50 a donut.
Am a uber driver if the store had it a parking lot for pick up Ill be better.
Friendly service and very good coffee. Great assortment of gourmet donuts!
A bit pricey but flavorful and nice flavor combos. Trendy
Very interesting flavors (unheard of but makes sense when you taste them)
Interesting flavored donuts. Depressing coffee. Mediocre service. Pricy. Stop and go spot. Overall not worth your money.
The donuts are made off-site and frosted here. Beckers is way bettter, imo. Oh, and itts pricey,
Great tasting donuts. Great beach locale.
This place features several flavors of vegan donuts that are all to die for. So good!
Donuts, coffee, and staff were all amazing. Super cool place.
Organic freshly made donuts!
Donuts are tasty but expensive. Drip coffee was bitter and watery.
Very unfriendly and rude staff, but donuts were so good.
The mimosa cake and blueberry cake is the BEST!! 👍👍👍
These donuts were so good!
Not sure about the hype and service not good.
Always perfect, a must visit place in LA.
Had a very nice chocolate ganache donut but $2.75 for drip coffee seems a bit high...
Very expensive, but the quality doesnt match the price
Unique doughnuts and convenient location.
Tried this place a while back and honestly I do like the donuts they have but its a bit pricey and not only that theres not very much parking
Pretty expensive but a fun selection of different types of donuts. Not your typical donut shop
Hot chocolate was cold, overpriced donuts, not friendly service
Great customer service, great donuts
Key lime and blueberry basil are legit! 😍
Orange Olive Oil donut rocks
Best donuts ever
