Service was excellent! I had the honor of being serviced by Niko who performed a wonderful job on replacing a new tire sensor and a synthetic oil change. Both Tim and Dan were great with communicating the status of my vehicle and even let me in to pay and retrieved my vehicle after they closed. I would highly recommend this location to anyone!

5 stars for Cliff. Really great guy and genuinely out for the customer. A real pleasure and breath of fresh air. I was a little disappointed, after spending money on a great new set of tires to find my spare just thrown in the back of my jeep and not stowed/put away. Would’ve taken 3/4 minutes and been a touch of class. 3 stars for long wait and 2 stars for economy/basic service.

I had recently taken my car to the dealership for a recall notice check. Before even pulling my car out of the check-in bay, my car was on the status board where they list recommended services - an alignment was recommended before they even looked at it so I left the dealer and had nothing done.I instead scheduled an appointment with Pep Boys. I am so glad I did! I dropped off my car and several hours later received a call. They were a bit confused because I had plenty of brake pad left. It was out of alignment however so they proceeded with the rest of the work. How amazing to be told I did not need something that the dealerships said I did! They have earned my business and my trust.

Getting tires on your vehicle is never something domeone looks forward to. But I will say, it was an overall pleasant experience. I met J. Alexander at the counter, he was light and funny, yet professional. About an hour into my wait, he came out to show me I ordered the wrong tire. Are you kidding me?! He was super calm and just said to give him a few minutes to see what he could do. He came back saying they had my tire in the brand I wanted at the warehouse and he could get someone to deliver them in about 35 mins. I was impressed. Overall, great experience and I would totally recommend.

I went here the other day and got my bulbs in my front headlight and back breaklight fixed because the bulbs were burned out and I had excellent service they guy that did was awesome and very helpful I would recommend anyone going to this place they are awesome

This Pep Boys location has horrible customer service.. Nikolas is a horrible employee. I scheduled an appointment online for an oil change they did not honor the appointment and told me I had to reschedule for another day which was not possible because I was going out of town that same evening. Nikolas showed zero empathy to the situation and did nothing to rectify the situation. DO NOT GO TO THIS PEP BOYS LOCATION

Leaving the Matthews Pep Boys, I felt very strongly I need to take a shower. This place and the people who run it are SLIMY. dishonest. exploitative. unscrupulous thievesThe first time I went here a basic checkup turned into two thousand dollars in repairs and the second time the first thing I notice about my car when I went to pick it up after a four and a half hour wait FOR A TIRE CHANGE was a dent in my side door. I ask the large white man behind the counter what happened and he shrugged and said it could have happened anywhere and just happened to get dented while at his shop. Two stars for humor(?)

Everyone at this location was EXTREMELY unprofessional and rude. Especially the guys at the Hertz desk. I tried asking them a question. First they ignored me and then the one guy stood up and started towering over me and yelling and smirking the whole time like he was getting off on it. I asked to speak to the supervisor and he said he was the supervisor. What a nightmare

Under New ownership. the service rep was friendly and stuck to what I asked for in service. He asked about other items that should be serviced but did not push it. I had an appointment which he made sure they got the car in right away and finished within an hour unlike some other places nearby. I will be back.

Great if you need to buy parts, the people at the front desk are nice but if you going to get your car worked on, you’re better off going to a different auto shop and having them install the parts. The guys in the shop do not know what they’re doing and WILL mess your car up. They can turn a 6 hour job into a week long job, And still won’t fix your car right, then expect you to pay ridiculous prices for the inconvenience. Don’t even get me started on communication.

Do NOT use for Maintenance or Repairs - Pep Boys - Matthews NCIf I could give no stars, I would.I asked for an Oil and Filter Change, 1 Year Alignment (I had new tires put on 3 Days before - not at Pep Boys), and to check the Brake Fluid and Brake System (because another Company had advised that I needed to change my Brake Fluid). The Gentleman that checked in my vehicle, either didnt pay attention to what I asked for or didnt understand, due to a language barrier. Either way, I didnt receive the service that I requested. I had also told him that I had created a profile on their website since I was looking to make Pep Boys my new go to for Service/Repairs moving forward. He told me that I must not have saved it. While waiting, I ordered a Cable Puller and received a phone call and Email to let me know that my Order was available for pickup. So, my profile was definitely in the system, he just wasnt able to find it (not a big deal but continues to show the ineptitude, carelessness, or lack of training of the Staff at this location).Upon retrieval of my vehicle, a different gentleman rang me up. I asked about the 1 Year Alignment and was told, You can just get it next time....Well, I wanted it THIS time, since I just installed new tires. I asked about the Brake System Check, he looked confused and flipped around on the receipt he was about to hand me and said, You dont need Brakes. After looking at my Receipt, it says, Jeep Dealership told the customer he needed Brakes. That is not what I said at all. I mean, its great if I dont need Brakes or to change out the fluid but if he didnt know what I was talking about, how could the Mechanic that worked on my vehicle? Then, on the drive home (1 Hour), I noticed that my steering wheel is now slightly crooked and the vehicle feels loose especially the middle of S Curves and moderate brake use is causing a pull to the left with anti-lock brake shimmy.I have now contacted their Corporate Office, filed a Complaint, spoke with a Customer Service Rep who said that the Manager of the Matthews, NC location would be contacting me within 24 hours.......that was days ago.....My vehicle was in better condition before it was serviced at this location and now I am concerned if ANY of the services were even done correctly.At this point, I will NEVER use Pep Boys again and will advise all of my Co-Workers, Friends, and Family of my experience (I’m so mad, I am telling strangers right now…).UPDATE - Case Number (764237)After providing Corporate with proof that the service was done incorrectly and asking for a refund, no response...

We have used this location several times. The first time we tried to walk in and get tire service for a vehicle we were told we needed an appointment. So we scheduled one, still waited longer than we felt we should have with an appointment, but figured it was a bad day this was a few years ago). Since then we have used them a few more times and every time has been the same, make an appointment, and they are way behind. Yesterday we had an 1130 am appointment, to repair a tire, not a big job. As I was checking in, I inquired about how long I might expect. The appointment, when scheduled online, said approximately 60 minutes. I was told they were way behind. Shocker. I asked, so maybe 2 hours? The gentleman behind the counter shrugged and said, at least. I was able to get a ride home, receiving a call 5 hours later that the car was ready. We will never go back, appointments mean nothing here. If you want to sit around in their waiting room all day, the services weve received are fine, but dont expect to get in and out just because you have an appointment.

I give this pep boys store this 1 star. Apparently making an appointment online means nothing. I made an appointment at 5:30 and they said they don’t take appointments that late. If the store can’t attend people around that time why is it an option on the website.

Can’t cover appointments. I’ve scheduled multiple appointments at this Pep Boys. They for four months have not been able to cover appointments made for work even far in advance of work done. You can leave your vehicle over here for days they can’t change oil or a tire. Customer service and management here is unacceptable. If you want a hour long job done go somewhere else. These guys can’t handle the workload and make zero attempt to hire more guys to staff the customers needs.If you read below reviews of these guys charging for oil changes not done this has also happened to me. This is not acceptable!

I have ordered  yesterday 4 tires for my car. I received  appointment confirmation for 9.30 today. But when i was in Matthews, NC (Store #0150) at this time  they told me that they have only 3 tires and offered me to wait several hours or come back at 2pm.Didnt even apologize. Cashier told me that he is a manager and so I may speak only with him.I asked about printed appointment confirmation at 2 pm and waited long time for it. But no one received it.Didnt even apologize again.So I decided to cancel my orderVERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!I do not recommend it

Not a new customer as I’ve been going to this Pep Boys for some years now for oil change and trivial maintenance with no problem. However I brought in a family car for new front tires and alignment. After getting the car back I noticed squeaking noise that became much worse after taking the car to the shop and getting the alignment . The car was taken back the next day and they recommended getting new struts alongside changing the brakes and couple of other things-which we agreed to get the service. Within two days we spent $1800 only for the car to still have alignment issues. The car was brought for the THIRD time only for them to take a look at the alignment. The manager, Nicolas calls to inform me that they can’t due the alignment unless I pay another $880-1,000 for a new diagnoses that was NOT mentioned in the first two trips. When asked why this wasn’t mentioned previously the manager couldn’t provide a decent answer aside from reiterating the need for the new service. Overall extremely disappointed in their shady and nonchalant handling of business with a ulterior motive of bulking people of money. If you’re looking for car maintenance aside from oil changes, please do your self a favor and go to a honest garage or a car dealer and avoid these scammers. It truly pains me to write bad reviews but I feel obligated to warn other readers from being ripped off. Fare well, I hope you guys enjoyed the last bits of my money.

They charged us for an oil change when none was done! We noticed the oil change light was still on in the van and they were adamant that it just needed to be reset. We brought it into them to find out they actually never did it and they even tried to COVER it up. They started doing the oil change before even telling me it was never done. They didn’t even offer to give me a portion of my money back. I asked for a full refund for the oil change since they had the van for 2.5 days. They gave me a full refund and completed the oil change but the fact they tried to hide it and didn’t offer to make it right by me is WRONG and unprofessional!

I dont hold it against the folks who rang me up, the customer service was fine, but I went in for a routine oil change and spent 2.5 hours waiting for my car. It didnt appear to be a particularly busy day, there were maybe one or two other people waiting at the same time as me at any given time. There was no indication that the service would take any longer than usual; if I had known that it would take longer than a usual 30-60 minutes, I would have planned to leave and go take care of something else in the meantime. This isnt the first time its taken a particularly long time, I come here often to get my oil changed, I make an appointment ahead of time, and it almost always takes over an hour and a half (usually closer to two), no matter how many or few people are there.

Went in to buy a set of tires, was told the tires were in stock, but could not be installed today. That was fine, I asked to make an appointment for the next day, was told they were booked. Again that was fine, I asked about having them installed in 2 to 3 days and I would purchase the tires now so I would get the promotional price. I was told that nothing could be done for an appointment or letting me purchase the tires.I ended up leaving and going down the street to Discount Tire. Had new tires installed and was back on the road in 45 minutes.Stay away from this place as they seem to not want to make money.

Horrible customer service. Booked online appointment for 2 pm. Completed online paperwork to speed up the process per their sites instructions. Arrived at location and was told by service advisors that the online appointment system was not real world. They offered to work in my Headlight installation (20 minute repair) in 2 to 3 hours provided I could leave the car. Since the whole purpose of booking an appointment was avoiding a 2 to 3 hour wait, I took my keys and left. Deceptive practices. I would not consider then for any future work I needed

I went to pep boys in Matthews to look for a coolant connector that broke in my truck, i was in a hurry due to my truck was stuck in the middle of a construction site. I went in and the service provided by Sidney and Amanda was 5-star! Sidney explain to me how to disconnect the coolant connecter and helped me find all the tools i needed and Amanda was great at the counter! Ill make sure to go back in the future!!!Great job guys!

I arrived around 10-10:30, my advisor was Christopher on paper but I kept speaking with Cliff. When I got there I told them I needed an oil change and an inspection bc I was hearing a weird noise coming from my car, I asked them to test drive my vehicle so that they could hear the noise I was speaking of. They told me they would. I was Lyft back home, arrived home around 11, waited 2.5 hours and no one called so I decided to call. When I called I spoke with Cliff, he told me they’re just finishing up with my vehicle. I asked him was my car test drove?? Did they figure out where the noise was coming from? Bc that was my main issue. I told them there is a loud noise in the rear area. Hard to miss. He answered and said he thinks they test drove it they heard no noise. I told him again I want it to be test drove. I arrived back to Pep Boys at 2pm. I asked Cliff again, was my car test drove.. he said yes. As soon as I got in my car, my seats and my mirrors were in the exact same place. Mind you I am a 5”2 woman, and driving a very small car. If my car was test drove, my mirrors and seat would’ve been unorganized when I got in the car. As soon as I start driving, I hear the loud noise. Like I told them it’s hard to miss. I don’t appreciate the dishonesty, laziness and rash behavior. If a customer asks you to test drive their car, just do it. Just like if a customer prefers a certain brand of tires or a specific type of oil. Treat all customers the same, with respect and attentiveness so that they’ll want to come back. When I first came in Chris was already speaking to me with a lot of sarcasm. Horrible customer service from these 2. No one has time for games and inconveniences. Throughout those 2.5 hours, it should’ve been done.

Very good experience with Nick and Neal both were very nice and helpful. I appreciate the help with my car. I hit a pot hole and its Sunday, my car started shaking and they got me a new tire and showed me the problem then they gave me the best solution on my budget.

I was disappointed to find my oil life light wasnt reset and one of my tires were low after being told adjusting tire pressure was a standard service on an oil change. Im not confident that my tires were rotated because of this. I would like to feel that the person caring for my vehicle is actually doing whats supposed to be done. I gave stars for the service writer and that the service was done in a little over an hour unlike my last service (appointment) that took 3 hours and the service writer was the one that ended up changing my oil.

In 35 years of buying tires for my autos, this was one of the most disappointing experiences ever. For more than a decade, Ive been throughly satisfied with my local Discount Tire in regards to quality, service and price. This one time ONLY, I bought into the Cooper black Friday special at Pep Boys Mathews. Never again.Suffice it to say that management, floor sales, customer service, and tire service were either lacking or nonexistent.Buyer beware!

They won my business over from other part stores and I only shop there now. Their delivery guys are the best. I love John and Dwight. Highly recommend them if youre a car dealer needing parts fast.

I was surprised with how honest these guys are. I needed an after market exhaust installed on my car. After looking everything over he told me he didnt feel comfortable using clamps because it wouldnt be secure enough and he recommended I have it welded (which they dont offer). Instead of using clamps anyways and taking my money, he was truthful and told me they wouldnt be able to do it.

Do not take your car there they will mess it up worse. I took my car there yesterday it was cranking with a jump and I had a mechanic tell me it was the alternator that needed to be replaced being the I have insurance I took it to Pep boys on Independence and now they say my engine is locked up but cant explain to me how or why it locked up when it just cranked up yesterday. I will be in contact with corporate.

We were a band on tour passing through Charlotte, in 100° summer Heat with no AC. After talking to several mechanics throughout the Southeast nobody could provide same day service....except for these guys. Rick was personable, answered and listened to all of our questions, AND helped us diagnose and fix our AC in just 2 and a half hours. We got service and a new compressor for 1100, after a 10%coupon, which is a competitive price. Pep Boys was a much appreciated and welcome experience out on the road! Thanks Boys!

Went to this pep boys on independence to see if I could get my vehicle brakes fixed.a few of these employees are a bit on the abrasive side. Although I can not say that they all were. My youngest sister lives in North Carolina. The rest of our family lives in Pennsylvania. She recently had some major challenges with her Jeep. We were all very worried about her driving a car that was breaking down. We felt very helpless since we live so far away and cannot help her.My sister decided to go to Pep Boys to diagnose her car trouble. I was very happy to hear that the staff at Pep Boys were very compassionate towards my little sister and they made sure her car was fixed. She told me how the Managers Matt Richardson and Tony Menjiyar went out of their way to help her and reassure her that Pep Boys would quickly get her back on the road. I am extremely impressed by the professionalism and caring that Matt, Tony, and their staff showed my sister. Matt and Tony went above and beyond to take care of a new customer. That is the best advertisement for your company.I have never been to Pep Boys but I will make sure I use them in the future. I have never had more confidence and trust in an auto repair garage. I called this location they told me they were not busy I drove probably at least 15-20 minutes to get here, I get here then they tell me that they have 3 other cars here getting oil changes and that I would have to reschedule I told them I just called here & somebody told me they were not busy. They took over an hour to do my oil change, And thats only because I went up to the counter and said something and they are not very nice!!!!

I use this Pep Boys for my routine Oil change. From that point they are good. You can reserve an appointment online and get it done. No hassles.But if you are looking at a repair work, may be not. I was there as I had camber wear on my tires and suspected struts, suspension or alignment issues. I went at 1 :15 PM on a Saturday and was told to come back at 3 PM. When I went back at 3 PM, the manager was like he is already behind and he may not be able to accomodate me at 3 PM. But still he put in the service order and I was ready to wait. I waited till 4:05 PM and saw my car was still waiting outside and not even pulled in to the repair station, while I saw 2 repair bays empty.I went back to the service desk and asked for my car back. The manager realized that no one had looked at the request, it was just lying there. I have visited several Pep Boys locations for car service over the years, and currently, I use the East Independence Blvd., Matthews, NC shop. I always feel as though I am being treated fairly and not being sold a box of goods that I dont need. I rarely ever feel talked down to or condescended, they are polite, and seem to be honestly eager to help. I would feel comfortable sending my parents to both the South Blvd and Independence Blvd locations the Charlotte area.

Made a 10am appointment to have 4 new tires installed. Was told it would take an hour. My car is still not in the bay. Keep getting lies and excuses. This is the second time I have made an appointment here. The first, it took 1.5 hours to even be seen for just an oil change.Very unprofessional. I used to recommend them. Not anymore.

I always find what I need while at this Pep Boys. If you cant locate an item yourself, make sure you locate an employee that knows the product placement. I drove just over 30 minutes to get to this location because the item needed showed in stock. The cashier had no idea that the automotive item was just stocked in a totally different location than what she knew. Luckily, another associate overheard my conversation while I was headed towards the door. She immediately knew the item, brought me right to it.

Came In at 9 :00 am for a 2 hour alignment, its 3: 45 and still waiting. I had other appointments today that now cannot happen. This is completely uncalled for and should never have happened. Next time i will take my business to AAA.

Great and friendly staff. Just wish they would upgrade there repair equipment for the 2016 Chrysler 200. Couldn’t service my A/C system and other repairs couldnt be done because they didn’t have the equipment. Still would recommend.

Very helpful. Bought a battery 35 months ago. Went bad with about 20 days left on the warranty. Replaced, no questions asked. Even swap. This is the only thing I have bought from Pep Boys as they didnt have a store where I stayed prior to moving here however no problems and friendly service.

Beware of this place!! Dont take your cars there!!! Scam scam!! Husband took car there today for them to do diagnostics and then they did inspection. They said they fixed acouple of things and told me husband what needed to be done yet. Now car runs bad and he called them. They told him that they wont pass the car unless they fix over 200 worth of problems. Hmmm is this what Pep Boys is doing to make money?Now he cant get through and they put him on hold for 45 mins. And never came back to the phone. They wont help my husband and we paid over 100 for their services. And they wont tell us whats wrong. We paid for the test we should have the list of whats wrong. Will be getting a hold of corp. Better Business Bureau and my credit card if dont get satisfaction.Dont get your car repaired their!! Warning!!!

Dont come here. Customer service is terrible. They dont acknowledge you and completely ignore you until theyre either done with the previous customer or finished with whatever theyre doing. They take forever and its not even many people in here. They still asked for all my information when I had already input it when I made the appointment. I went up to make sure they were using full synthetic oil for my car. Some ladys card kept getting declined at the counter. Obviously the sh** didnt work. But he kept letting her restart the transaction because she insisted it works. Finally he made her use another card. They love wasting time at this location. Ill be going to another one.

Since the shrinking of the Interior store not much is in stock anymore. The assortment that they used to have as an example of cleaning materials is now down to about a third of what they used to carry. The people there are great they do everything they can to help you. But it doesnt help if they just dont have it in the store

It was taken about 5 hours to change oil and make engine diagnostics. I made appointment at 9-30 AM and received my truck at 3pm.They made me estimate of 1200USD in order to repair engine with 2 mistakes. I came home, reconnect battery and engine light dissapered. I ask to print me their estimate and know i know that they just want charge you for nothing. 1200USD for nothing. 5 hours for oil and engine diagnostics. Usually to make diagnostic in any other shop it takes most 1 hr.HIGHLY not recomend that place.PS. Cashier tried to ask me to pay for another car as 981USD. He even didnt ask me which car is mine and what is my name. Very unprofessional and i dissapointed. It was my first time and last time then i came here.PS2 - I came by appointment at 9-30 ( 11/27/2019) you can check you database.

Worst service. It took them 4 days to change my breaks. Disrupted my entire life for 4 days over a repair that should have taken a few hours tops. I will NEVER take my car to Pep Boys again and I advise anyone thinking of it to spare themselves the stress and go anywhere but here.

I have just recently moved to the area & stopped by a few different places for an oil change everyone was booked up or said the wait would be all day. I happened to drive by this pep boys and when I walked in they said they would make it happen! They took our car right in gave us a $25 coupon.. gave our girls coloring books crayons & all of us koozies! The general manger was super personable & all of their staff was super nice! I will defiantly come back and I would recommend them to anyone!

I have had my radiator replaced, my A/C fixed, and my lower intake manifold replaced at this PepBoys location, and I would not have it any other way. I am here from Florida for school, and unfortunately Ive had countless car problems, but the guys here have been more than understanding, and take the best care of me! Gary, Cliff, Joe, Bob and the rest of the guys have kept my car on the road, and kept me safe in the meantime. It is easy to see that they care about their customers, and I am so grateful for everything they have done for me! They know how to make a girl feel like shes at home! Nothing but positive things to say! And without a doubt --- If you have any issues with your car, this is the place to go get it fixed!!!

My 19 year old daughter went here to have her brakes checked. They told her that she needed $220.00 in repairs. I then took the car to two other mechanics that said that there was no problem with her brakes. One of the mechanics told me that this was the third time this week that there was another customer that was LIED to.
