I really love this store. I could get lost for hours between the books, comics, music, gaming, shirts, and so much more! My youngest 2 also love going to 2nd and Charles. They dont ever want to leave when weve been there for a couple hours already! 😂

Really great place for second-hand and many new books. Good cookbook section, but not as organized as I would like. Also doing a thoughtful charity collection for Christmas.

Love digging through used books to find hidden gems. The store is very organized which makes it very easy to search for the type of book you are interested in. Hardest part is picking just a few new books (I bought six - whoops). I have yet to try selling my own books to the store, but I have watched the process and it seems very simple. I love that they do not use plastic or paper bags - dont forget your reusable bags!

This store was AWESOME! Great selection, great prices, helpful and knowledgeable staff. We bought way too much and could have found more! Wish there were a store where we live, but will definitely return if we are in Charlotte again.

The lack of diversity here is mind blowing! And that lack of diversity is represented through the employment as well as their book selection! The selection of authors of color was nonexistent! I saw maybe 3 books written by black authors amongst hundreds! They didn’t even have or know of Toni Morrison? First of all how can you even callyourself a book store if you don’t have Toni Morrison? Or even know of her? They couldn’t even give us recommendations throughout the store which shows that is absolutely not a priority for this place. FYI 2nd Charles it’s 2021 and the people want inclusion. This book store is focused on one variety and if you are looking to diversify your bookshelf with amazing authors of color this isn’t the place to do it! I am extremely disappointed.

Always a fun place to go to! Has a wide collection of books, movies, music and games. You can always find me in the manga section. They always have the best and newest games. Great place for the family because theres something for everyone!

I wish I had a whole day to spend here. Every single time I turn around and prepare to leave, I find something else. I have been there twice, (visiting from Illinois), and spent $80 each time. Totally worth it.

I came across this store by accident and was pleasantly surprised! They have so much selection and had lots of cool tables set up with different book categories. I took a star off because I witnessed an uncomfortable encounter of a man getting kicked out of the store for not wearing a mask. This interaction wouldnt have bothered me so much but the worker who confronted him was behind the counter working on something and SHE wasnt even wearing a mask. Her mask was dangling around her ear. Im all for enforcing a mandate set by the county but like also you should be following it to? I will also mention that she was working alone and there was no one around her when she wasnt wearing a mask....but like at least put your mask back on before you call out a customer and his 2 kids for not wearing one. Just weird.

I was a kid in a candy shop I loved it and the employees there. They even helped me out getting my fiance a gift. Thanks guys!

Whenever I have some books to get rid of this is my first stop. They buy books and sell them. Its well organized and a great stop.

Fun place to visit and brings back alot of nostalgia. You can find so many old items here and games you used to play back in the day. HUGE book selection and there are always autographed copies scattered throughout which are fun to find. Great place for white elephant or gag gifts. Only thing I have had zero luck finding throughout multiple locations and years are PS2 controllers. Cant find them anywhere!! Great store

The absolute best bookstore! So many options at great prices, and I love trading in my old books to get new ones.

My sisters (educators) insisted on bringing me (an educator) here after they learned about it (from a fellow educator) and I am so glad they did! From the books to collectors items to anime to albums to the random items that somehow end up in your basket, I absolutely fell in love with this store!! My wallet was not quite happy, but I found quality buys for myself and friends as well. Spent a ton of time in the store with no worries of the passing time. Naturally the educator friendliness gives them bonus points!

Good for books and anime. Lots of neat things but the book selections seem like they never order new selections and number 1 of most Mangas arent there.

First time. Kid loved it. Prices are typical of a large chain bookstore. Very clean and organized.

I was very upset that no one working there even came around and helped me pick up the basket on wheels to the counter. Mind you it was slam full of books. I have a severely messed up and daughter very pregnant. I even told them. They didnt care. Then I have almost 200 dollars worth of books and no bags, boxs or any way to carry them out. I was told by guy checking me out that I could get bags from other stores. Like I told him are you kidding me. I didnt buy all those books from other stores. I definitely wont be going back there. I drove almost 2 hours one way and then get to deal with this. NO THANKS WONT HAPPEN TWICE

This place is awesome! My first time going and I spent almost 2 hours here. They dont just have books they have a variety of awesome things. Will definitely be going back.

Love coming here, but I always spend more money than I mean to. Perfect one stop shop for all manner of nerdy items. Games, books, movies, cds, plushies, etc.

I wish the organization of this store was better, to be honest. There are some sections that have tidy shelves with books in order that make browsing a pleasure, but other sections look like it has never even been touched by an employee with books shoved in whatever space was open. For instance, the graphic novel and comics section is abysmal! You cannot find anything. The same goes for the non-fiction areas as well. And the store overall just feels cluttered and tight.

First time in and I cant wait to go to the one back home

Dont sell your books there, its not worth it. I sold them 10 BOOKS that literally look NEW and they only gave me $4😐 the place is nice and all just dont sell your books, might as well sell them online. And for those who might ask “then why didn’t u ask for them back?”….you can’t, they make u sign a paper and u cant get them back… DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!!!

Dont sell to them. I sold almost 20 books to them and got just $10 bucks and they wouldnt take one of the books but there was nothing wrong with it. Plus their return policy online says they do store credit if you dont have a receipt but they said they needed the date of the purchase, the time, the total amount, and what register I was at. I gave them the day and amount from my bank app and they went to look it up but told me they couldnt find it. So they didnt do the return and they sold me a scratched game.

Love the used books. I can walk around around a book store for hours and Ive done that here. Large selection of books as well as cds, instruments, role playing materials, kids toys etc... Extremely professional and pleasant staff. Clean store. Also can sell your books, computer games etc... Highly recommend.

Its a good store but these kids they have doing the research on products people who are selling things that are worth thousands of dollars. I had two high prices star trek item that were worth thousands of dollars and they gave me sixteen dollars. These kids need to learn how to do better research.

Best place to buy books for cheap. I go to get about 10 books and only pay about $30. It is amazing! I would recommend this place to anyone who loves to read, play video games, and play board games!

Huge store, with books, movies, music, games, toys, and lots of well, stuff. The media is about 80% used, the merchandise is 90% new. Staff is helpful, and the best part, as a used store, the inventory is never the same twice. If I have one complaint, it is that they are a tad stingy giving trade credit for your items.

Loved it in 2nd Charles just wished the were on the internet. It has a great assortment of books, dvds, and vhs. Im from upstate New York come here in the winter when its possible. Would be wonderful to be able to purchase books online, they are reasonably pricced. I normally get them on Ebay.

Great gift options, lots of books in every genre, including kids. They have games, puzzles, toys, and other fun things in the fantasy themes such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, and others. I could spend a lot of time... and money in this store!

Shopped here today for the first time, but it certainly wont be the last! Great selection of new and used boos and lots of other interesting merchandise. Meagan was super helpful in finding exactly what I was looking for, and even told me about the teacher discount when I mentioned a book was for one of my students. This bookshop is just what Matthews needed!

Ive lost my ever loving mind when I walked in. The place was soooooo overwhelming with stock of everything you would look for in a book store and more. The music section made me melt with the albums and instruments. Beautiful guitar and basses, record players (usb & rca cable). The staff!!!! I think I just fell in lust, they earn my favorite customer service award.great place for my family.My Household, 2 avid readers, 3 games, 1 DJ, and Im the musician. Love this place all around. New and used, great quality.

Both used-item and bulk resale store. Not as cheap as a smaller used book store, but better quality and inventory. Also, great coupons and deals through email or text subscription.

Lots of books in lots of categories, good prices on them and they are all good quality (even the paperbacks).My only suggestion would be to have a less cumbersome method to see if they have specific titles in stock. Dont get me wrong - I enjoy strolling and seeing whats on the shelves, sometimes I am searching for a specific title.

2nd and Charles has a little of everything, new and used. Most new merchandise is full price, but you can find excellent prices on some of the used items. Most of the store is books of all types, from Bibles to comics and everything in between. They also have music, movies, video games, board games, musical instruments and more. You will want to look through all the used copies of whatever you find, because dinner will look better than others. If youre diligent, though, there are some deals to be had. My son just bought $150 MSRP of graphic novels for $32. Its definitely worth a look if youre in the area.

A little bit pricey on some items, but a great place to find old, used, and rare books. Also they have a pretty good selection of collectibles, toys, and memorabilia.

I stopped there because I was meeting a client and I was quite a bit early so decided to browse the aisles I felt like a kid again. I have a thing for Groot, and found the cutest little dancing Groot had to grab it. I will be back

As a similar review stated this past week, I also witnessed the girl at the front desk yelling at people for not having masks on...while she and the other worker behind the counter were not wearing their own. Wont be returning.

For some reason stepping into this store rushed me back to my childhood. Cant explain it, just that it is. Awesome atmosphere and good prices.

I love the friendly staff and all the incredible deals they have on books, games (board and video) as well as cds and DVDs.

Great selection, a bit pricey

Hands down me and my sons favorite store. My only complaint is that the new comics section really needs some organization. I couldnt find a comic published this week, new comics are mixed in with past issues. I know this shouldnt be case, but this is my go to store for new comics in the area.
