Delicious, beautiful pastries; lots of moderately sweet options. Coffee is solid; plenty of fun fall options for those who like that.
Danish pastries are some of the best in the world. This place does not disappoint! We devoured the chocolate marzipan cake and eclaire in the car. I regret not going back for another slice. I cant wait to try the rye bread we bought. Employees are very nice. Thanks for great product and service 👍
The in-house sandwiches are made days in advance, the ones under the glass sit there from 10am to closing. The coffee is just regular powder coffee you could make better at home. The soup comes from a great big box they take out of a giant fridge every morning. They charge two dollars more to make it a meal (spoiler alert) the meal is a handful of arugula with a splash of balsamic. If you MUST get something from here, grab the best-looking pastry and RUN.Quick, before it gets a chance to soak in the flavor of sadness and neglect. And again, DONT GET A SANDWICH.It most likely wont be the knew you ordered, anyway.
The place to go when you want to enjoy pastries! Loveliest owner!
Great polite service! Really excellent food, now my weekly brunch to go. Just make sure you enunciate when you order, it’s hard to understand each other with a mask in that building.
This place is wonderful. Their mochas are great, and their sandwiches are delicious. I’ve tried a different one each time and haven’t been disappointed so far. The service is great too. One day I’ll try their delicious looking pastries! Really glad to see them back open.
Great place, good ebb and flow, lots of choices and location is perfect. Parking can be a bear, even on a Sunday morning.
They are back after a fire hiatus, good to see them. Service was slow but food was good as always
The most delicious Kringle!
I love the Danish Party House! They are one of the few solid links that make pastries, marzipan sweets and baked goods the way I remember them growing up in Germany. The croissants are flaky and buttery with just the right amount of crunch. The sandwiches are delicious on a variety of good breads. But the best thing is their flødeboller sandwich. Its an off-menu treat traditional in Europe where these chocolate-covered marshmallow-cream-on-a-crisp-waffle goodies and fresh baked rolls are prevalent. You split the roll in half, place the flødeboller in between and then smash it today enough to bite into.Unless you get someone who is family or who has worked there for a while, you might have to explain what it is. But its also eat enough to just order the components and do the rest yourself, and srsly, so worth it.Love this place.
One if the oldest, stale, and dense cupcakes I have ever tried, was not edible.
I always love stopping here. Their treats are f@^$&*% tasty. The staff is also very nice and helpful.
The hot chocolate here is the best. Forget Starbucks and give this local spot a try. The baked goods are delicious as well.
You wont find a more friendly, warm atmosphere for enjoying the most delicious, buttery pastries!! I like the Kringle best
Had delicious Macaroons and an Almond Croissant! Such a cute place.
Good spot with great coffee and tasty bakery goods. They have your standard mix of croissants (get em warmed up), sweets (cookies, brownies, etc), and cakes. Reasonably priced would come back!
Black iced tea was great. Excellent treats.
Best Moroccan mint tea
Great coffee, great pastries and other food! Love how much variety they have in drinks and food.
Awkward step at the exit. I tripped and skinned my knee.
I love their tea burgers, a Danish specialty. Lovely shop too!
Nice coffee shop for relaxing
This place had a fire in January and has been shut since then. For the past two months, a handwritten note on the door says they ‘hope to be open in about a week’. How hard is it to post an accurate update? Such a shame as Danish Pastry House cakes are really good.
Nice place and price very cheap.
We have eaten here about a dozen times now and I highly recommend it. It is a pretty place, nice and open and sunny. Plenty of seating. The staff is always friendly. The food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. You definitely get your money’s worth here. An added bonus is parking across the street in a small lot.
I ordered and paid for a beverage, and then the employee disappeared. A different employee appeared, and then started helping people in line. Finally, I was able to explain that I was waiting for a drink, she went looking for the other employee, then the drink took ten minutes to make. So I spent $8 and waited 20 minutes for a drink, no apologies or refunds or free pastry. Customer service is more important to me than anything else, and they don’t cut it.
I used to come here with my wife all the time when we lived in the area. In my opinion- Best Scones Ever! Its a great little spot to grab a table to chat and watch the world go by on the corner of this bustling intersection.
Best pastry Ive ever had hands down. In fact Ive been looking for this place for several months now, I had forgotten the address. Thank you Google Maps because they remembered from my location!! You cant go wrong here. Try the lemon squares.
Great place to get fresh and delicious baked goods and cakes at!Never dissapointed me.
Service is fast and welcoming. Its a small pastry and sub shop that has a large variety of typical desserts. This shop also includes specialty danish desserts. Seating is available if you wish to stay and eat. This pastry house also sells crepes if youre looking for a savory or sweet snack. Prices are on the moderate side.
My family shared the fresh mozzarella, spinach and priciutto sandwich; jalapeno quiche; cows eye cookie; and a medium iced latte. All were fresh, eye appealing, and delicious!! The staff was friendly and helpful. The place was clean, appealing, laid back, a nice open floor plan where you can dine in a space of your own and readily feel the refreshingly cool air. We loved It! I could dine there everyday! 😀
I’m frankly not a huge fan of Danish Pastry House. The food they offer seems small in quantity and pricey for what it actually is. The restaurant is often packed so it can be difficult to find seating. The space itself is quite beautiful and it looks and feels very classy. I’d call it more of a snack place, where you’d want to do work (if you find a place to sit) than an actual place to eat breakfast.
I love this sweet little shop. Some of the best pastry Ive had in the Boston area, and their crepes and sandwiches are also delicious!
Its not a big place, but the atmosphere is cozy. The foods are great! I had verda wrap, crepes and clam chowder. All of them were delicious. The wrap was the best today:)
Stopped for a pastry and coffee on my way to Plymouth. After trying the almond croissant and how delicious it was, I decided to get one of the sandwiches they had in the case. I got a chicken salad sandwich. It was the best chicken salad sandwich of my life. Be sure and give them a try.
Their turkey club panini is delicious and the service was excellent. We had tea which was so good . Could not fault anything and not surprised its so busy. We didnt have any of the sweet things but it all looked so tasty. Great flavours in what we had and staff very polite. Would definitely go here again.
Delicious pastries and crepes! Ive been coming here once or twice per week for five years now and its always been a delight. Its usually pretty busy on the weekends but the lines and tables move quickly.
Great pastries, and sandwiches and salads too! Popular among the Tufts crowd, but definitely worth a visit no matter where youre from.
Nice atmosphere, good place to sit and read/work. Coffee is good as well. Food is usually good but can sometimes be off (ex. Old pastries, not fresh).
Very good for lunch or breakfast. The quiche is good for something savory and any pastry they have is a good pick. For lunch you cant go wrong with their grilled cheese with apples and caramelized onions. Their crepes are also very good. They also make orders for events.
Very good decaf coffee full flavored. All the pastries look so yummy but I must restrain myself ---- calories, calories calories.
My ice coffee was double-brewed and tasted amazing. I have had the German chocolate cake and a chocolate chip cookie on two trips. Both were fresh and perfectly constructed. As for the atmosphere - Very cozy, a lot of natural light even on a rainy day, and a good mix of people of all sorts. Seating is no problem on weekdays from 10am to 12pm, but morning and lunch crowds fill up the seating quickly as I learned on my first trip. 5 Stars =Absolutely and Excitably Going Back
Friendly helpful service and tasty food in a cozy setting. Highly recommended.
High quality pastry. I love the coconut macaroons dipped in a bit of chocolate!
Have visited here many times and have always been pleased with all they have to offer. Sandwiches, pastries, drinks, have all been delicious. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. If prices were a little lower, I would have given it that fifth star and would visit the store more often.
Everything here is delicious. Coffees good. Friendly staff
Perfect place for a coffee and pastry after a long morning walk. Friendly staff and quiet.
Some things here I love (like the little rhubarb pies) and some things are just a heap of butter with color.. But the place is always nice and cosy, with a good ambiance. Their espresso is decent, and sandwiches are good, but not cheap.
One would think an establishment with the word Pastry in its title would live up to its name. I was visiting my daughter at Tufts yesterday morning and thought this would be a perfect Saturday treat before we started on our days events. The two pastries I bought were not quite up to par, but far better than the coffee. While everything looked beautiful, I doubt it all was fresh that day. The apple bear claw was the best of the four things I spent $15 on, but sadly it didnt have the delight of melting in ones mouth and eliciting a moan of ecstasy as great, hand prepared pastry does. The tempered chocolate on the waffle treat was good, but the two waffle pieces enclosing some kind of cream with the consistency of marshmallow fluff, only not sweet, were not crisp as they should have been at first bite. I imagine these had been refrigerated overnight, so had absorbed moisture from the cream. The true reason for a two star rating was the dreadful coffee! I should have chosen brewed. I ordered a Latte and a Mocha. Neither had the taste of any espresso at all. The mocha was really a hot chocolate, but NOT the made-from-scratch kind using only boiled milk and shaved dark chocolate. I thought the latte would at least taste like coffee, but no, it did not. On a perfect spring-like winters day, my foray into DPH was a disappointment to be sure. The staff was very polite, though not engaging. I sincerely hope the local clientele has better luck with their patronage.
Lovely staff and great pastry
So many delicious pastries! Nice offering of traditional pastries with Danish ones. Lots of creative coffee drinks. Great London Fog.
A great spot to meet friends for tea, lunch, breakfast, or a pastry. Or to even get some work done at one of the tables next to the big windows looking out on the street. Their macarons and French waffles are especially good.
Ive only ever had a less than stellar experience once. Our coffee came to us warm, but not hot. They were very kind and remade it without cost.
Great everything, across the board high quality snacks and coffee. Dont plan on a fast meal, very slow food production, just not set up for it. Im still a regular because the staff and environment are so lovely.
A fun breakfast sandwich and bakery shop within a short walk from the Tufts campus. I have been twice while visiting Boston and it is a favorite when Im in the area. Good tea selection as well.
Nice vibe, even during the lunchtime rush. Great pastries (morning buns!!) and crepes, the sandwiches and salads looked decent. Fast wifi and clean bathrooms. Not very many seats with outlets available.
Pastries are great. Crepes and sandwiches are just OK. Coffee is just OK. Decent tea selection. If you want a place to sit and get better coffee and better lunch, go across the street to Tamper.
I admittedly have never been to the store but would like to go. I have a number of muffins and croissants from them at Farmers Markets. They are very convenient when I hit SOWA in the morning sans breakfast but I dont think their breakfast pastry items are anything out of this world. That said, the cafe seems cute and I would love to try their other offerings
Flourless chocolate cake is A+ and very friendly service :)
Lots of different food offerings: full pastry case with muffins, fruit tarts, croissants, etc; paninis, salads, soup, etc. Full coffee bar. People are friendly and helpful. Nice, comfy place to sit and read paper. Will definitely return.
Cute coffee shop near Tufts University. Good food options, nice coffee -- what more can one want! Ideal for working alone or hanging out with friends.
It smells wonderful when walking oast. I love the Nutella Latte and of the pastries Ive had, I havent been disappointed. My German friend was craving Kringl and this places has them in slices and in full size for purchase. He approved the authenticity.
A unique gustatory experience among all bakeries in Somerville/Medford area.
OMG these pastries. They are so good. They have some savory food but its really the pastries where they shine. On the weekends its hard to find a table because Tufts kids do their homework there but its worth a stop there. Its hard to find great bakeries and this is definitely one of them.
Theyre always wonderful. Crepes, coffees, and pastries are the best - not too many seats, though, so this is definitely more of a grab and go or get lucky and stay kind of place.
Amazing experience always when dining here. Great food, great atmosphere!
AMAZING hot chocolate, decent selection of pastries and cakes. The WiFi cut out once, but its reasonably fast.Good atmosphere, would recommend.
Pastries are just okay and a bit overpriced for their quality, but the coffee is good and unlimited refills makes DPH a great place to spent the afternoon studying. Really cute place and my Norwegian mom loves buying the Scandinavian products they sell.
A very nice little place. I only had a pop tart and hot chocolate, but both were delicious.
Stopped in for a quick breakfast and were thrilled. The decor was charming bistro style, wait staff was super nice and everything was delicious.
Great place been around for a while and always amazing pastries.
Great vibe and a nice little pastry shop. They have excellent strudel and croissants. Pricey for a student but worth it if you visit once in a while.
This is a great place for delicious food, coffee and pastry. Friendly staff and service. Check it out and go often.
I come constantly to this place! At least once a week... Their customer service is always lively and warming. The pastries are out-of-this-world! Bear claws, apple tarts, marzipan treats, you name it, they have it! Besides, they also serve fresh made sandwiches both hot and cold. My favorite is the Cranberry walnut chicken salad sandwich! Their variety of coffees is also a good option. They have a good number of ice cold teas as well (The Crimson berry one is a must-try!!!). They have free wi-fi too!!! 6 stars for this Google!
Great panini and pastries, plus coffee, teas, and crepes. Busy at lunchtime - and for good reason!
A little pricey, but they make tasty sandwiches and amazing cakes. Definitely worth consideration for a wedding (or for that matter any other celebration) cake.
Great sandwiches, especially panini. Some very nice desserts. Plenty of drink choices. Can be crowded at lunch time.
Dont get your hopes up for customer service or anything at this location, both the staff and owner are super rude. The woman at the front with the accent is the rudest person Ive ever had the misfortune of encountering. Ordered a cake, was told they didnt have it, blamed the original Watertown location for not sending it, only to wait 20min and find out it was in fact in their fridge the whole time, but nobody looked well enough. When I asked if this happens all the time the woman scoffed, rolled her eyes, and had a snarky comment about my not speaking clearly.....riiiiiiiiight. Customers always right....unless youre at the Medford DPHA. The staff at Watertown are far friendlier, more knowledgeable, and ten times more efficient than that mess over there. I dont know if rudeness is a European thing, but that woman who owns Medford should be ashamed of herself and the childish manner in which she conducts her adult life. 0/10 would NOT recommend.
I was on my way to visit my grandmother and I wanted to bring her breakfast so I Googled cafes and the Danish house popped up. Im so glad it did because the coffee was awesome, the breakfast pastries, crepe selection and overall experience was on point. Ill be back to visit grandma more often!
The soy latte was really good. The pastries looked beautiful and Im eager to stop by another time to try them.
I loved the atmosphere, and the service was great. I would definitely suggest the Nutella crape.
Great selection of food, pastries, cake, drinks, etc. Cozy environment and friendly staff. Taste is pretty good, and prices tend to run a bit high for their offerings.
Closed :( Building has a Danger, Keep Out sign on the side door.
So good! Great staff, great atmosphere, great food
Authentic Danish pastry, beautiful cakes. Great sandwiches! Truly a gem!
Always stop by when in townBeautiful pastriesLovely comfortable shopHighly recommend
I really enjoyed my visit today, for a number of reasons. On street parking was close by, atmosphere was very pleasant, calm and professional, gentleman behind the counter was friendly, accomodating and knowledgeble, and my kids and I got to enjoy the awesome europian style pastries! Win-win all around!
Good coffee, great pastries, sunny shop, what else could you need?
Overpriced, and I got an eclair that was full of whipped cream once. Not sure if it was a mistake by the baker or the cashier.
Tasty pastries and fresh coffee but a little overpriced.
Great coffee and pastries! They have brunch on the weekends as well. My roommate loves their fresh mozzarella panini.
Delicious and not too sweet! Perfect for Scandinavian taste.
Tasty icy rolls and other Nordic pastries. Good ice teas and relax atmosphere makes it a nice place to grab a coffee
Great selection of pastries and cakes. Staff a little neglectful with refreshing of the condiments, so you may have to ask for sugar, milk, etc.. Staff could do with additional training.
I made a special trip to DPH after reading all the raves here. I got three pastries to go and was pretty disappointed when I got them home. They all smelled like refrigerator. I had to take the topping off of the mocha cheesecake. The inside that was not exposed to the air was good, but the topping smelled so strongly of refrigerator that I could not eat it. I also got a pecan tart. The crust was not crisp and it was not particularly tasty. The flourless chocolate cake was very dense and rich but the glaze on the top also suffered from refrigerator smell and was not easy to get off. It was $17 for just these 3 things and I was not able to finish or fully enjoy any of them.
