Small portions but also not very expensive. Italian beef was literally just a french dip. Wasnt bad, but it wasnt all that great either. Was seriously lacking meat. Asked for gardeniera and the waitress acted like I was speaking a foreign language. Fries were pretty tasty however they dont supply name brand ketchup, which is weird because they had Heinz malt vinegar and mustard.Service was good, staff was nice. Probably wont be back
If youre looking for a bar to get your favorite drinks 🍸then youll be happy with this place.Absolutely plenty of room to be able to get your own space.Obviously unless the place is full. The food is available, its not bad but the name Diner 42 is not necessarily true but again the drinks are the main reason, the service is cheerful.
Bill is by far the best. Hes a one man show. Poor guy is in there by himself at the moment, but food was excellent. Just have a little patience.
Some of the best diner food Ive ever had, honestly! Our waitress was a total sweetheart too. Would eat here regularly if I lived closer, we just happened to stop by on the way home from an outing, and Im really glad we did!
My husband and I had a taste for a good hamburger and we decided to try Diner 42. Both got the double cheeseburger with fries. Excellent burger and nice hot fresh fries. Sat outside on the patio which was great too. We like to support our local small business’ here in Medina. We will be back!
My husband and I stopped while biking toward the Chippewa Trail. We sat on the deck and enjoyed a late lunch. Chef Tom was so nice and served up the BEST pulled pork sandwiches and fried mushrooms. Robins chips and salsa was a great appetizers. We will definitely be back! Great food, fantastic people, fun time at the right price. Well be back!!!
Nice little place. The food was great. Came out quick, hot, and cooked well. Our server was absolutely amazing. Very attentive and engaging.
We had a very nice lady wait on us! Overall great experience
Good grilled cheese and chili! Big tvs for football and nice staff.
This place is more of a bar serving bar food, when searching on internet it seemed more like a diner. Has only one 4 seat table and one 2 seat table unless you eat outside. Only had counter/ bar seats available when I arrived . Food was good but small sandwich for the price. Not a place to take a family. Also no refills on your pop, it costs 99 cents for each pop.
Will not be returning..spent 9$ on a single hamburger, Burnt frys, that could not be eaten and a pop. My friend also got Burnt frys with her grilled cheese. She went ahead and asked for another grilled cheese. Not wanting to risk asking for more frys. When we got our bills. She was charged for 2! Meals. We told our waitress that she only ordered an extra grilled cheese no frys.waitress said she had to charge her for the hole extra meal! So my friend spent over 18.$ for 2 grilled cheese sandwiches and 1 pop!
Small local diner that has one of the best double cheeseburgers around. The beef sandwich is also really good. Keep up good work tom and company.
Excellent dry rub BBQ ribs and chicken. Interesting specialty drinks. Open till 6 m-w. 8 on th-sat.
Old time dinner, friendly staff, great 2 patty grilled cheese burger and fries for a good price and full liquor bar. Third trip we will try more menu options.
Very friendly staff very good food
Great food but brought back the bar where it used to be since it was the Lantern went there long ago this place is a good memory to swing by
My first time there today, but I will DEFINITELY be back! Food was outstanding, as well as the friendliness and courteousness from the owner and chef. The burgers and fresh cut fries that my kids had were delicious. I opted for the Italian beef combo with a side of chili and was not disappointed with any of it! The Italian beef came with au jus sauce for dipping, and the chili had just the right amount of heat to it that my kids didnt cry when they tasted it!Great food, great prices, great people. Well worth a visit! We were given a free sample of one of the salsas that they make in house with some chips while we were waiting for our food to be ready. Really a good experience overall.
Nice little place. Good food.
Its a small place but the food was good and all their drink specials look awesome wish I could have had some at lunch :-) try it out
This place is great. Friendly and chill crew. Double Cheeseburger was spot on. Fries were freshly cut and were so good! Will try the new smoked BBQ items next time!
Great burger, and meatballs. Beer is nicely inexpensive. Really great staff and owner.
Good place to eat. Will go again
Absolutely awesome! The ribs are a must have, and the cheeseburger is the best Ive had.
I fully enjoyed my double cheeseburger and fries. I had a Tito and Baileys to top it off. Excellent price. Best burger Ive had in quite a while. My friend had the same and a Strawberry Daiquiri. She said it was the best shed ever tasted
Im extremely skeptical of all the positive reviews. There is never anyone at this restaurant and the food is lousy.
I had ribs and wife had pulled pork. Both are delicious! Highly recommended!
Nice spot to grab some food friendly staff
Might consider this spot a hole in the way, but some of the best places always are. The double cheeseburger has a great classic taste and will definitely fill up the average eater. The Italian beer is surprisingly good but missing the most key Chicago ingredient, the giardiniera. Gotta have the option for hot, sweet or both in order to call it an Italian beef, otherwise it’s just a French dip. Overall, though, the food is solid and at a good price point.
Cheese burger and fries was amazing. Tommy (the chef) works magic.
Pulled pork sandwich was fantastic! Polish sausage was delicious too! Great, friendly service!
Great food great place to eat nice friendly people
Great tasting food, tremendous service, friendly staff.
Great food, fantastic service. Small, but very worth it.
What used to a shabby diner has been newly renovated an updated to a very modern comfortable relaxing Eatery. From the spacious front deck where you and friends and family can enjoy a tasty affordable lunch to carry out options. Five stars for this classic Medina eatery!!!
Very tasty.
Tom and his partners are really making Dinner 42 nice. The remodel inside and out makes you feel comfortable. The food is comfort type food. Make it a destination spot
Best Italian beef sandwich I have ever had. Soooo good.
Excellent food. Terrific service. Great value
Good poor boys
Space was a little small, but quaint. Food was really good and staff was really friendly.nice local spot.
Good food reasonable prices friendly staff
Awesome food fantastic pricing very comfortable atmosphere
Food and drinks are always good!! Staff is super friendly!
Took a road trip out from Youngstown to Medina and stopped here. Will definitely go back
Didnt even stay. Got warm water no ice, had to wait for that.
Great bbq if you like diners this is a must go.
Glad I stumbled across this place. They have a spicy chili!
Stopped our first time for carry-out. Super impressed with the cleanliness and speed. Great prices and a friendly staff. Well be back for sure.
Mediocre at best....felt like a dive bar in a trailer.
Nice atmosphere, great service. Glad we stopped in.
Food is really good! And service was amazing very friendly staff really enjoyed it.
Update: they have since revamped their space, added some delicious drinks to their menu! I am OBSESSED with their grilled cheese and fresh cut fries. The owners are so friendly! This is absolutely my favorite place to go for comfort food! Their chili is amazing every time!Cute diner, love the patio, great food for a really great price. I love the BLT wrap and homemade soup, not bland at all. Owners hospitality is wonderful, glad I stumbled upon this driving up lafayette. Been back a few times already, my new favorite place
Great food, good prices, and wonderful atmosphere.
Decent food at a great price. Steak, fries and drink for 10 bucks. Cant beat that deal. Place could definitely use a deep scrub with some Clorox. Surprisingly dirty in the dining room for the start of the day including but not limited to the lids of the condiments. Just a friendly suggestion.
It was clean and inviting. Host was most attentive and food was very good!
Great homemade food, covid safe & clean, friendly hometown vibe, and a selection cocktails! Its worth the stop *take out is an option, too.
The food is amazing! Great home style food. I am just to lucky to have this place near me!
Was a hair in my fries they didnt offer discount or anything 😔
Awesome burgers and even better fries! Staff is especially nice and am always greeted with smiles. Will definitely be back!
Excellent food. Great value
Great food, drinks and prices I highly recommend
No fancy food but simply fresh, good and reasonable priced. Every combo is $6.99 or less and includes fries, salad or soup and a drink with your main dish of choice. Will go again.
Drive by stop great place to eat
Dinner 42 is a terrific diner! Clean and the food is hot, fresh and oh so good! Great for families to bring their kids and its inexpensive but good quality food made fresh! Every one is friendly and they seem to care that you have a good experience. Cant go wrong, check it out.
My family and I went here on a Sunday afternoon. There was only one employee, he did not even greet us with a hello while we stood next to him looking at the menu. We ordered our food to go so because they dont have to go cups we could on choose from the 3 types of can drinks in the cooler. I will say for being the only employee and 2 other families coming in after us our order was completed in a timely manner. Food did taste good but we each only got maybe a handful of fries and both my wife and I were missing the bacon off of our chicken club sandwich.
Really nice ribs
Out of my own for a few hours yesterday, I passed Diner 42 and decided to stop in for lunch. I heard several people order before me so I got a handle on what was popular but went my own way. I had the fried bologna sandwich with fries. Their soda is interesting, not Pepsi and not Coke. Everything was good and I recommend that people go try it. I suggest using one thicker piece of bologna.
The Cook Tom does a great job. Food is always good and always fresh. Sometimes during lunch ch ours there is a little bit of a wait, but I still wait my turn because the quality is worth it at this place.
Ordered take out for the first time tonight and was NOT disappointed!! I was skeptical because the prices were awesome, but will definitely be back to try more of the menu! Thank you for matching great food with great prices!
Fantastic! Took a bit longer than expected to get my food, but it was worth it. Service is exceptional. They were looking for open and honest feedback from every customer. Large portions. Highly recommended!
Nice
Food and service was great
We are stranded in the area due to a mechanical breakdown on our motor home. So, while waiting for parts, we get to explore the area. We noticed this diner right away and wanted to try it, but they are closed on Mondays, the day we planned to stop. Wouldnt you know, the parts didnt arrive until Wednesday, so today we got to stop and give it a whirl. The Italian beef sandwich was very good, and the aujou made it an excellent choice. All the food was hot, and the prices very reasonable, and the staff was friendly and helpful.
This place is just the best food. Ive stop in many times and every time food, parking, and service has been to my liking. The food is cooked starting after the call of the order its ready quick.
Kind of divey, but in a good way. Had I not read the previous reviews online I likely would not have stopped in to try it, but Im sure glad I did. This no frills little diner has surprisingly good food and really good prices. The very basic menu consists of burgers and sandwiches that are served with fresh cut fries or a cup of soup/chili and a drink. The staff was very polite and while reading a few articles posted on their walls, I realized they make their own salsa in several different varieties. I asked for a sample which they were happy to provide and I ended up taking some home... delicious! $26 to feed 3 people including a decent tip in the jar they have on the counter. I will definitely be back!
Prices are excellent, food is great! The portions are very generous. Staff is attentive and cleared our table quickly when we finished eating our chips and salsa. We will definitely be back.
Absolutely nothing to complain about. Will definitely return many times. They have a deal going with the ice cream stand across the street. On Fridays order a dinner from them and get a ticket for an ice cream across the street all for an awesome low price.
I was not really sure what to expect when we went in but I was very pleasantly surprised. The menu is small but thats good because you dont have to think about what you want to order and it allows them to concentrate on just a few items instead of trying to have a plethora of items which most people cant do very well. The best thing about the place was the homemade french fries they were fantastic. I hand a double cheeseburger without cheese and fries and you get a drink with that $5.99 I mean how can you beat the price. The burger was good A little over cooked for my taste but definitely tasty and the fries well pushed it over the top for me. I dont think you can get a better lunch for the price anywhere here in Medina.
I have been to this diner several times. They have done a lot to spruce this place up which is not cheap. The burger here is NOT a pre-made patty which I would not call a good burger. Just my choice for the best type of burger. This burger is one of, if not, the best in Medina and I like burgers, and try a lot so for me to say this it’s worth stopping by and trying it out. Never had an issue with service and food has come out at a good time from ordering.4 stars for the awesome burger!!!!1 Star for the entrance in the back which is kind of shady. But, again they are working on the entrance and appearanceWorth a try!
Terrible! The part owner that was doing the cooking is the rudest, sloppy, unprofessional owner I have ever ran in to in all my years of dining out. You would think that being part owner of an open kitchen restaurant would give you the insight to take a shower and clean up before going to work as well as to not be rude when answering a question posed by a customer. After such rudeness I decided not to order ...but my son and his family had already ordered. I didn’t want them to leave without eating, so my husband, granddaughter and myself sat at the table with them. After a half an hour of waiting ...and the order in front of them had still not been served ...we couldn’t wait any longer because he needed to leave for work. I might also mention ...since it wasn’t done right away ...this half an hour plus wait gave management ample time to make an apology for their rudeness. Of course there was no such apology ...he could not care at all. We left ...with no food ...but they have payment of my sons order. I will update if a refund/cancel of the cost is made.We will not return. I urge you not to eat here. With such uncleanliness, and such rudeness ...I suggest that you can’t chance the quality of the food you would be served.
The locally made Salsa must be the draw, we didnt try it. Meal, service and atmosphere, dont bother stopping.
Very good first impressions! Do not go here and expect something grand. Iwent on Sunday, 02/11/2018, and this is the day they serve breakfast. The food is not out of this world, however it is very good for what it is: quick, easy and simple. The food was good and the staff was super friendly! The atmosphere was very relaxed and there is a ton of seating. The staff will tell you they are new to this and it does show, again however they do a good job for just starting out. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try something different. You cannot beat the price, and having something like this on the south side of Medina is GREAT. You no longer have to deal with going downtown for something to eat. I will defiantly return and more than likely become a regular at Diner 42.
Food is decent and fair priced but the Ambiance is pretty bland; and the cook / host looks and acts like he doesnt want to be there.
Fresh to order burger and fries... juices dripping .. hot fresh fries with vinegar YUMMMM
Greasy diner. They need an exhaust fan installed. Food was pretty good. No ice for fountain drinks.
The sign out front claims “home of the best burger “ ... according to whom?Food is alright ... frozen meat ...literally heard the cook toss my frozen burger patty on the flat top when I got there even though I callled my Togo in 10-12 minutes before I got there so I had to wait and then after I left with my Togo my frozen burger patty was cold in middle so I ate the edges because I was hungry . Have to always search for napkins and condiments from other tables ...I don’t understand why I can’t have a fountain drink with a Togo order (which I was able to when they first opened ) I am forced between a can of Mountain Dew or Pepsi or bottled water.
Neat little place. good atmosphere, friendly staff. food was typical diner fare. the chili was tasty, good flavour then a kick of spices on the back end. they have malt vinegar for the fries! (optional of course). its right across the street from School House Scoops. so you get dinner amd dessert in one stop. i will go back to try more of menu.
Cheap fast lunch or dinner. $7 got a sandwich, side and drink. Good owner that wants to please the customer. Picnic style dining experience.
Very good menu. Prices are reasonable. Portions are nice. Good service too. Will be back
Very very reasonably priced, mom and pop food clean and friendly staff. Try their burgers. This place is top notch, they have added more menu items. They also have a liquor license now. The polish boy is a must try! A polish sausage, with homemade coleslaw, homemade bbq sauce, and fresh cut fries on a roasted bun. It includes a drink and a side of fresh cut fries or soup. All for $6.99!! Cant beat it. Available for takeout and door dash delivery also.
I think the owner may benefit from keeping the tables clean. Even if updating may be required, cleanliness will often make up for lackluster furnishings. The food was good, however.
Friendly chef, clean seating area, great breakfast. I rarely travel to Medina, but if I do again Ill stop by for the biscuits and gravy.
Food was great. Pricing was awesome, everybody there was very friendly......the cook came out and greeted us and asked if it was our first time there, which it was and he explained how the menu and the service works. Our hostess/server was very nice and very friendly, outgoing and conversational and made sure all our food was exactly to order and that it was to our liking.....which it was.....it was delicious. The serving size was perfect, enough to fill you up but not over stuff you. Overall a good experience, a great value.....and will definitely go there again. Its great to have a good experience the first time going to a new place. They also have a very nice outdoor patio area/ front deck for eating outside on nice days.
