The store name should be Unique Book Gallery. As the decades pass I increasingly appreciate the Main St store. If someone works there they have 10 times the knowledge of any person at a bookstore. They also are true book enthusiasts. I have seen them looking through books at other locations. I went to every local library withing a 25? mile radius. The Book Gallery had far more titles, on one subject, than all of the libraries combined. On that one subject I purchased at least 25 different titles. They pricing allowed this. With more money I would have gotten double the number. It is much more than a bunch of books. Most important I can see and best select. The diversity is incredible.
More books than you can shake a stick at. Needs more room to store all there titles. Wish they would work with you on price.
Absolutely adore this place. Of course, its a used book store so theres no guarantee you will find an exact book youre looking for-- but I love it for its eclectic nature, dim lights, classical radio, and surprising finds.Honestly, when Im having a rough go of it, Ill sometimes go here and find myself some beautiful old book printed in 1912 for much less money than youd expect.Running out of room to put the books, but thats a different problem all together.
Great place to browse, three levels ish, some pretty great books. A section on teddy bears and a section on plagues. That’s variety. The guy working there said the Phoenix store is bigger. Coming from Tennessee, I thought I was in Phoenix. If you’re planning your trip and you only have time for one, maybe try the Phoenix store.
Lovely bookstore with much variety and great old travel guides. I bought three books today and will definitely return when I’m back in Mesa.
A great place for an extremely large variety of books and other publications. The gentleman that was working was very knowledgeable and informative.
Love this book store, I cant wait to see the Phoenix location!!!
Broad variety of genres, but most genres are lacking in depth. Prices seem a little much at times.
Took some Stephen King books into the store to get looked at. Spoke with Randy who was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Will be back in the future. Great store.
Great collection of books!
Wonderful step into the past. Helpful staff.
Excellent collection of vintage books
Drive Thru Only due to Covid but food is hot and good.
Vintage! Encyclopedia books by volumes not found in any other bookstores !
GREAT BOOK STORE. MIKE OPERATES IT, KNOWS HIS STUFF! ALSO ASSOCIATED WITH BOOK GALLERY IN PHX IN INDIAN SCHOOL
The stores has been around for a long time. When you enter the store you smell of the distinct smell of vintage books as if walking into an old library. any book that you can imagine he either has or can get for you and hes extremely educated both by intelligence and experience on anything that there is to know about books. If you need help are you looking for a particular old classic I definitely suggest this store.
I have been here a handful of times and each time I leave with something unique. Their selection is fully of variety and expands back very far in age, for instance I got a book from 1888 yesterday on the southwestern Pueblo natives and a book from the 1970s that catalogs all science fiction and horror movies. While these books are unique, and possibly even one-of-a-kind, the prices are a bit extreme. A lot of these books have likely sat for years, maybe even decades, and that is possibly tied to the prices being beyond what most can spend. I was seeking archaelogical books and most of these were well above $25. As a student, I am unable to remotely justify spending $70 on a site report, no matter how fancy the books binding or age. I wish the prices were negotiable because there is a great deal of information within these walls that is going to waste.
Very large selection, but well organized. The shop goes back quite a ways and splits into two levels, so it is larger than it looks from the outside. The history books I was interested in were in good condition, and the staff was knowledgeable and interested in what I was shopping for. Prices were fair, but not cheap. They have definitely put some thought into what they will sell. I will definitely be back.
Wonderful Nancy Drew books for my Great Granddaughter
Ive been wanting to check this place out for a while, and glad I finally did. There is a massive selection of vintage books, and you could spend hours in here. The aisles are small and only able to fit one person, and the books are a bit expensive. However, they do have discounted books for $1 to $3 sitting on racks outside the store! Definitely a place worth visiting.
I really like the feel of this place and the prices are good.
I love the smell of this place. the books they have here..I only wish I had more money. they have an exquisite collection.
First time visit. There is a huge selection of antique books which I love. There is also a large amount of signed copies of books. This is a must visit for book lovers or tourists.
Before I drove over to this store, I decided to call and ask if they may have what I was looking for. I wanted a childrens book about step mothers to help my new children understand whats going on. The man I spoke to on the phone told me thats a weird category to look for (but these days I think it would be quite common). I asked if he thinks it might be something that theyd have available and he said to me I dont know, and Im not gonna go look through every book just to find something about step moms. Honestly couldnt have been more rude about an already sensitive subject. I understand not having the time to go through each individual book, but I couldve been let down with some kindness. Glad this happened over the phone. Never will I set foot in this store.
Tons of books and very helpful staff. Its well organized and easy to find everything
A grand selection of books of all types at great prices. This store also contains a wide selection of science and math books. Book Gallery is a booklovers paradise.
We were recently in Mesa to watch my son perform for the Mesa Music Festival and came upon this awesome bookstore...a highlight of my daughters visit (other than watching her brother sing, of course!) An English major, our daughter was in her glory wandering the aisles of this store full of treasures! The gentleman at the counter even brought out some exclusive collector pieces for her to admire. She could have spent days in there I am sure. We went back several times over the course of the festival and bought something newly discovered each time! A must visit for any avid book lover, collector, or literature student!!!
Nice store. Staff was helpful.
Hardcover books, great store if you like books. I love it, just wish it was open longer
The best bookstore in the entire Greater Phoenix Area. Quite reasonable pricing and offers an outstanding selection (in an elegant setting). This bookstore is larger than the photos suggest and it belongs up with the greats, such as Powells City of Books in Portland, Oregon.
If you love books....this is the place to go. Whatever your interests are, you will find it here. I bought Steinbeck, Kipling and uhhhh, a NASCAR book....
I love stories and thus books. This is the place for classics as well as the hard-to find. If youre in downtown Mesa, stop in and be amazed.
Saw the store front and had to go in. There is such a wonderful collection of old books here! The gallery offers a wide range of genres and some of the books are very old. If youre looking for vintage, rare, antique books, then this is your place.
Amazing place for booklovers! They have a great selection of all genres, and an impressive collection of older editions. The employees are very helpful, and the prices are terrific.
Great selection of old books and a wonderful collection to discover
Wow it is an amazing bookstore. They have everything. Makes me feel like I was in a movie. Friendly manager and helpful!
They have so many great finds. I love this store. I wish they were open later but I could spend hours in there. Their prices are very fair. I love it!!!
I love books in the transportation genre and Book Gallery has lots of them and at great prices
Amazing book store. Was selling books and needed someone who knew antiques. Very nice people working here and got a great deal. Thank you!!
Beautiful bookstore with lots of character...antique feeling. Lots of books and helpful owner. Lots of first editions as well.
Charming, and packed to the rim with some amazing selections. The service is ok, but I love coming here.
A little pricey but super helpful staff and great selection

Amazing. The selection is breathtaking.A book collectors dream.
Good place. But little more expensive...
Not inexpensive like Bookmans or HPB, but if its hard to find this is the place to go. There is a large city parking lot behind the store, two hours free.
Always a pleasure doing business with them!
Great place
An amazing place filled with amazing books!
They have some weird books. Nothing recent really, but it was interesting from a historical perspective of the 90s.
