12 West is a great place for a good drink or some tasty food. It has an open and quiet atmosphere with two bars, patios upstairs and downstairs, and lots of room. If youd like a delicious and creative cocktail, make sure to talk to Dirty Mike. He will take his time to explain as much as youre willing to learn about different cocktails, mixing techniques, and even the tools. Hes amazing. Its nice that 12 West has happy hour daily 3-6 so you can try some apps and drinks at at a discount!Definitely head on in if youre in the area. You wont be disappointed!
This is a really nice brew pub with great food. The ales are good, and they have a nice variety. Craft cocktails are also available, and the menu is not your standard run of the mill bar fare. The Katsu chicken sandwich is delicious, and their appetizers are both unique and tasty. If you love patios, this place should be on your list, as they have both upstairs and downstairs patios!
Went on Friday night for live music. It was mine and my friends first time visiting. We had a great time. The bartending was excellent and the beer on tap was so good that I purchased a growler to take home. We will be back for sure. Its great to see this place in downtown Mesa, bringing the community together.
Wow food was delicious, waitress was very helpful ordering for kids, as well as fantastic service. Cauliflower wings were so bomb! Highly recommend2nd time in to try their new Pineapple Frontside IPA, it was really good, got a 4 pack to go ($18). Had their cauliflower wings again that were great. Waitress was really helpful and welcoming. Sat out front in the shade had a great time.
Intriguing on the surface and can be fun on the weekend with the live music. Iβve dropped in with friends a few times and had a great time. My last couple of visits I sat at the bar alone and strangely had a raging headache that lingered for a week after a couple of drinks at the bar. This didnβt happen my other visits when served by the same bartender with the dreads. Its strange. If youβre a lady I wouldnβt hang at this place alone. Wonβt be going back.
Cool big space. Friendly staff. Beers are hit or miss based on your pallet. Good size portions of food. The asian spicy chicken Sammy is good but lacks real spice. The brunch menu has a couple worth while items but not much else that is different from other places. The pork belly eggs Benny comes on a thick disk of tots and the hollandaise is almost beer cheese like. The pork belly was semi over cooked, but all worked well together. The breakfast burro was good size and plenty of goodies in it. The patio will be great to hang out in nice weather to ppl watch.
I was regrettably served by a manager that appeared to have only one, oddly constipated facial expression. If youre ever wanting to drink away the pain, youre going to end up drinking double if you interact with the manager here. Enjoy!
What a great spot in downtown Mesa! This place is massive with plenty of seating with an upstairs area and even outdoor/patio seating. The beers here on point and love the names. We came on Sunday when they have happy hour all day so I highly recommend it! I had the steak sandwich which was deliciously delectable. The marinade was on point and the flat bread was a hit. My wife got the pork belly benedict...and Im not gonna lie I wish I jumped on it! It comes with tots instead of the english muffin and that is a game changer!!! They have plenty of whiskey and cocktails as well for the non-beer drinkers. Solid experience and ready to go back and try more!
Wow, just wow. Weve been going to their original location since theyve opened, but this place was completely unexpected.Great food, drinks, and atmosphere. I highly recommend walking through the rear entrance and seeing the kitchen. Youll see real people cooking really good food (not teens hanging around a microwave, or reading some pre-printed directions-but a busy living kitchen). The bar manager is truly a paragon of his craft; friendly, knowledgeable, and he owned the bar. The passion comes through for both cooks and bar delivering an amazing experience.Every short coming the original location has, this place makes a keystone. Not enough seats-Mesa has two stories, inside, and out. No hard alcohol-this place has an amazing selection and delivers some of the fanciest cocktails Ive seen in the east valley (try the smoked Manhattan or bubble drink). No food-this one has a gourmet kitchen where you can try things you likely havent (highly recommend the Shishito peppers, not too spicy but perfectly savory). All of these you can enjoy in a good atmosphere while enjoying your favorite 12 West beers. We will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu.
This place is good. Great atmosphere. But one complaint.....I dont know if the buns one their burgers could be any more dry.
Phenomenal beer, if you love a good stout, the Midnight Run is a perfect winter sipper. Also great and friendly service too. I highly recommend going on a week night if crowds arent your thing. :)
They were very pet friendly.. the staff was very friendly, kind and very helpful
Cool spot, great staff and drinks. I always have a good time here. I find the menu to be pretty bland and cant say Ive really enjoyed anything Ive eaten here. Go for the drinks and the staff but grab lunch/dinner beforehand.
One of the Crown Jewels of Downtown Mesa. Spacious location with plenty seating both inside and out. Chicken Katsu sandwich showed up at my table and I could not have possibly expected how miraculously massive and delicious it was. Iβm also not one to normally opt for dessert but BOY am I glad I did this time. Happy hour all day Sunday canβt be beat.
Got there late on a Friday night. Good beer and drinks. Good service. Nice decoration and atmosphere. Friendly place. All good.
Okay-I have to say that Iβd love to give this place 5 stars. The location is nice, the bar/restaurant is beautiful and the service and beer was good. The value, however, is not there. The menu selection is βsparseβ with a choice of, basically, a $15 burger or $16 salad. You could also pay $12 for grilled cheese and tomato soup.Tap beer was $7-$8.Maybe itβs because of COVID.I hope so.Iβd really like to give this place another try.
Sounded good and were excited this place had a patio for dogs. Called ahead to make sure it wasnβt too busy and there was plenty of outdoor seating. We arrived 15 minutes after calling and one of their patios was full, the other was closed. Multiple signs stated to see host for seating. Took two steps inside with my dog on a very short leash. No greeting of any sort, host bluntly walks up to the host stand and says βno dogs in here, you need to go outsideβ. I explained that we realized we needed to sit outside but there were multiple signs that stated to see the host for seating. She seemed flustered and stated there were no seats on the patio available and the extra patio was shut down. We would need to wait 15-25 minutes (outside) if we wanted to stay. I felt very unwelcome and we just decided to leave. This is not the type of person who should be the face of a restaurant. I will not be back anytime soon, too many other places around to have such a cold greeting. The only positive I would say is that there was a server who was working on the patio and she smiled at us and went out of her way to hold the door on the way in and out. She should train the host staff I guess.
I love this place. I usually donβt like cauliflower anything but MAN the cauliflower wings here are delicious! We ordered both the sweet chili and the honey sriracha options and they were both so good. I personally prefer the sweet chili (pictured). Happy hour prices are actually pretty decent for the drinks and shareables. I definitely recommend the mule with prickly pear vodka. The staff was super friendly and everything came out in a timely manner, the inside is HUGE and spacious, nice atmosphere. Will be coming back for sure!
Brewery was super busy but worth the wait! Server was very nice and food was fantastic! Had a wonderful time with a great atmosphere!
Love this place. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Good food. Loved the daytime live music. Had my sons 35th birthday family get together there and he loved it. Solid beer offering. Wife was very pleased that they had a full bar.
What a find in our town...... best bourbon list and they have whats in the list......really fair prices.... small but excellent menu ..... had the steak sand.... excellent...... wife loved the house crafted beers
This is not a Bavarian pretzel, this is an over priced super pretzel. Its a menu, not a tinder profile, you should tell the truth. Our server was to busy complaining to the girl who sat us to greet us. And shocker, an entree came out with cheese on it that was not listed on the tinder profile version of the menu. Order carefully!
Great liquor and beer selection and ambience. But no good bar food. No chicken wings. Not for everyone. More of a hip brewery spot
This is a great spot in downtown Mesa with a dog-friendly patio. Their selection of beers is decent and they usually have sours as well. Food is good, lots of plant-based options for those sweltering summer days when you dont want to eat a bunch of heavy greasy food.
Food (burger and fries + a pretzel) was good and the beer selection was awesome! The environment is really cool and theres plenty of seating.Great place to drink some beers and conversate. Will definitely return.
The food is delicious. The pork belly Benedict is much more food than it appears. They have decent beer but not my favorites.
Wonβt honor gift cards. Was told to not come back.
My brother brought us here many of times and this place is fantastic!! They have a great selection of drinks, especially beers, but what got me to post, besides the amazing staff is their connoisseur drink maker. Being pregnant, the selection is usually terrible, but not here. Check out the drinks that Dirty Mike made me. Just have him surprise you with a mocktail, they are so tasty!
Amazing service, great atmosphere...its a huge main floor and a lower and upper patio. I feel like theres at least one beer that fits for anyone!
Well, except for the gal singing, we really enjoyed this place. Fun atmosphere with great service and good food. Try the cauliflower wings - different and tasty. Wish it had been cooler - outdoor upstairs patio looked very inviting.
Food was excellent and my server Marlee was outstanding!!
Great space, good vibes, and seriously awesome band on a Saturday night. Been here a few times and loved it (Jake the bartender is THE MAN).Surprising downsides this time were 1) the Caesar salad (nothing about this salad was worth $16 - wasabi was nowhere to be found in the dressing flavor, croutons seemingly came out of a bag, and grilled chicken was clearly never grilled) and 2) the Old Fashioned was made well and was listed as $8 (stellar value) on the menu but actually cost $10 on the check, and when I asked bartender Trey about the discrepancy he simply said βI have no idea, we never charge $8β¦.itβs just a couple bucks man.β Direct quote.Definitely worth the trip to downtown Mesa, but beware of the Caesar and Treyβs rather flippant attitude towards objections from customers who want to pay menu-listed prices.
I think we tried every beer and they were all good. Had lunch while we were there as well and I donβt regret it. They have a nice bar area and plenty of space to eat and drink outside too. Prices were very fair. Would definitely recommend.
Horrible experience!! Had a large party come in for lunch. Our party called the day before to ensure it would be ok to accommodate such a large party. Once we arrived someone, maybe a manager, told us that they were short staffed and that it would be to difficult to serve us. There may have been 4 or 5 other patrons in when we arrived. Then he proceeded to be rude to the party. So 7 of us if not more left to restaurant a few doors down. What a lot of money lost. I will not be back.
I moved to Mesa when the 60 ended at Dobson road. In the middle of the desert (Alma School, south of Southern) they began construction on a Sears. The rumor was, it would be attached to a mall. Conventional wisdom (circa 1977) was that Phoenix already had a mall, why would you build another one?For more than 40 years, Ive wanted downtown Mesa to be something. Through the 80s, its makeover turned out to be bigger car dealerships and some paint. It wasnt until the Mesa Arts Center that I thought we could be something. During the same time, downtown Gilbert grew to be a Mecca of nightlife.I went out for my birthday last week and entered a new offering to the downtown, main street Mesa that makes me believe that being something is on the not so distant horizon.12 West Brewing has made its formidable footprint in the valley. In a 2 story industrial materials setting they have created an inviting space to gather. The views are spectacular inside and out, upstairs and down. Craft beers and an impressive wine collection and an enviable gastro pub menu make this a destination, not an afterthought. From talking to the owners, this place is just getting started and will grow organically to fit the community needs.Since 2005, Ive been more frequently visiting Downtown Mesa for the festivities that the city has brought in (all sparked by the Arts Center); now Im going there for 12 West.
Weve been here 6 times since it opened already. Amazing and high quality food, top end craft cocktails (which is fantastic), attentive and knowledgeable staff, good wine selection, delicious beer options, a nice sized dog friendly and multiple outdoor patio areas, quality to-go beers, and a wonderful hangout and spacious indoor scene! A little something for everyone, whats not to love??? Its our new favorite place in Mesa! SOOO GOOOOD!
Love this place. Cool atmosphere & great beers! Highly recommend the cauliflower wings- 10/10
It would be great for a date with your partner, but when trying ngbto watch some football, its more of a restaurant
This place is really cool! The beer is great, food is great and service is excellent. They have great vegan options like califlower wings, shishito peppers, avocado hummus and grilled cheese and tomato!
Outstanding beer and even better service. Didnt try the food this time, but we will be back!
Cauliflower wings are fire(delicious). Fish tacos were amazing. Salsa needed a little lemon but overall great. Steak sandwich and side salad was a lot of food and outstanding in his words.
Love this place! Will surely come back. But . . had a bad meal today, and no one seemed to care. And I mean, it was NOT good. That was disappointing. No compensation. I guess every business has an off day . . . .
Todays entertainment (singer & guitarist) was excellent. The service was also very good. Lots of smiles, patience. The food was great.
The service, food, and beers were great. Its getting warm and they only have two small wall mounted fans but the patio is clean and spacious. I will definitely be back soon.
Great Brewery, I recommend the bacon jam and fig flatbread (for food) and imaginary penguin (for beer). I came here on a Friday night and enjoyed the atmosphere. They also had live music.
Not to be overly critical... margarita could have been stronger...just me. Tacos were yummy, meat could use to be cut a bit thinner so its easier to eat...again just me. But I Love the green avaccado sauce on the tacos, and the Wait staff was great, helpful and friendly.
Very cool space with great beer and live music!
One of the few places to hang out on main street in mesa on Saturday night. They have a live music every time we have come. We had a power green salad that was supposed to have roasted tomatoes not raw. We point this out and the manager comped the salad.
Recently visited AZ from IL to spend time with my sister. We stumbled upon this place and fell absolutely in love with it. The best beer, great food & all to be accompanied with some very memorable employees :) One of my all time favorite places Iβve ever been. I will always recommend this as a βmust go toβ place to a friend traveling to the Phoenix area. Canβt wait to come back!
We hosted a wedding rehearsal happy hour/dinner on the upstairs deck area. The service, food and drinks couldnβt have been more perfect! Our guests raved about the Hawaiian Pulled Pork, flatbreads and sliders. Maui made the planning process super easy and checked in with me throughout the event to be sure everything was running smoothly. I highly recommend 12 West. Thanks Maui and staff for a memorable event!!!
What a welcoming and amazing atmosphere, the music is chill, the staff is great, the food and drinks are incredible. I couldnβt ask for a better spot to go and hang out, it has such a local feel with amazing vibes. Maui is dope (so is his hair) and the beer is incredibleπ€π»π€π»π€π» Highly recommended for anyone and everyone!
Very cool place. Great food and excellent hospitality
Good drinks and eats. The band was fun!
Amazing space, great food, knowledgeable bartenders who will help you pair their amazing brews with the food you order. They have a huge selection of spirits as well and some creative cocktails to also go with their menu.
Great atmosphere inside, great food, really good live music, and didnt receive the poor service as stated by other reviewers. Wouldve been a 5 star review, but there were 3 people that appeared to be employees on the front patio chain smoking and being much louder than everyone else out there. Our server was very understanding and moved us inside, but the behavior of the 3 employees outside was a poor reflection on the business and shouldve been in the back instead. I will definitely be back again, but based on my experience and other reviewers I would recommend the owners change some policies, or enforce existing ones, with their employees to help improve the customer experience.
Finally something good in Mesa besides Jarrods, love it. Great music, food and cocktails and awesome staff. If I can suggest anything it would be maybe dimmed lights for outdoor seating.
Oct 2018 we were married there before it was 12west. Then it became 12 west and we really wanted to check it out. What a great place. Every staff member was amazing to talk to. Excellent food and drinks. Atmosphere was vibrant. Will be back. Thx
Because of my preference of craft beer & brewery style restaurants, I found this restaurant via Google Maps. Dad and I enjoyed our visit at this restaurant. The West 12 Angus burgers were great - very tasty. I enjoyed the flight - 6 beers of choice. My favourites are Zona Pils (Pilsner), Pure Collaboration (rotating beer, sour beer), and Blap! Blap! (Blood orange flavoured lager).Friendly atmosphere, awesome location, and great waitress!I would return for a visit in the future.
So busy to even acknowledge us... Waitress walked by twice in 15. Couldnt even be bothered.. Was looking forward to another local place, but it just feels commercial and wanna be Scottsdale.
Service needs work. When sitting up top the service is the worst, and the top view is the reason we come.
2 times Iβve been here. I can a second time to give them a second chance. Both times Iβve had the worst service Iβve ever had. The servers have time to pet puppyβs on the patio and walk past my table multiple times seeing that we have menus but have not been assisted. I have worked years in the industry and everyone knows you never walk past a table that hasnβt been greeted, even if itβs your own. Will not be returning. Sad because the beer and food was good the first time. (Never got greeted by the waiter after 15 min so we left the 2nd time)
First timers at 12 West and it was a great time!! Service was wonderful and food was delish!! We met the owner and he was such a nice guy. I would very much recommend this place. π
Amazing service, amazing drinks and food!!
Our waitress was super nice, the beer was great and the food was tasty! Definitely going back! Loved the patio!
Good atmosphere, good food, good service, and we enjoyed great music with Carvin Jones.
The vibe in this place is very off. Itβs a brewery but tries to become a night club on the weekends. Why? Thereβs no one even there! Just stick with the brewery thing, please. Also, if youβre going to offer red wine, please donβt make it near close to freezing temp. Itβs just not meant to be served that way.
Dirty Mike is a wonderful bartender!! So very sweet and super creative. Really made me smile with the drinks on fire and the tasty creations he gave me. 10/10 recommend!!! Super sweet staff that made me feel safe and secure. Will be back soon!!!
This place is amazing. Chuck the gm is the best thing since sliced bread!
Great customer service. Enjoyed patio dining. Poke bowl & burgers good. Nice cocktail list. Live music a plus!
