I went to Meijer optical because they accepted my insurance.. I liked the Dr. Had a hard time working with staff. Called to get an order for contacts, put on hold for over 10 minutes. I called back and was told if I left number I would receive a call back. Never receive call back so I called again and begged not to be put on hold. After waiting on hold again I finally got my contacts ordered. Payment removed that day. After 10 days I called again. No one had any idea what was going on. Was told Id get a call the next day to tell me where they were. Guess what!?! No call again. I called again 2 days later and oh yeah! We have them we were going to call you. Save it Meijer Optical, Im going back to Walmart where the prices are better and the people nicer.
I purchased my glasses at the Franklin St store in Michigan City. Mike was very knowledgeable, helpful and easy to talk to. He showed a genuine care and concern for me and knew immediately the frame that would best on me. I tried several other frames too and in the end agreed that the ones he recommended looked the best on me. I would say hes an asset to the store.
I love Dr Dawn but the older heavyset guy at the front desk is the reason I decided to switch. The other guy is fine. The first time I went in he basically scolded me in front of everybody for not having my insurance card. I explained that I didnt have a physical card and couldnt print one out but that I had it on my phone. Its funny because Dr Dawn took care of it without my insurance card. Then the last couple of months were a nightmare to get in. Theyve only had like one appointment available for each month. Ive had to cancel twice because of work. Finally after I was able to make it in September, I was like 10 minutes late since I wasnt able to leave work earlier. I get that I was late but I have two jobs and live in La Porte- and it was the only available appointment for like a month. When I got there he said I had to reschedule even though no one else was even there! Sometimes I would have to wait 10 or 15 minutes anyway. Then he said then next available appointment was in three weeks! I knew he was just being spiteful, so I decided to never go back there again. I really wish the Dr had better staff.
The staff were respectful and professional but I waited 2 weeks for my glasses to come in the was told that they were shipped to the wrong state. I waited another 2 days and called back, was told that my glasses were in store but due to Covid they were only doing appointments, understandable I had to do an appointment for the exam, but I could only do the appointments for Mondays and Fridays. Why do I need an appointment for a certain day just to pick them up. That being said wont be using Meijer Optical again.
Dr Dawn is the best Dr I have ever seen. She always goes above and beyond for her patients. Highly recommend for all your eye care needs.
