I needed a replacement for a city/fitness/commuter bike stolen from me last month and found Wheel and Sprocket. Their inventory had several options for me without having to sacrifice key things like frame size. Their company origins and continued focus on bike culture/community and advocacy is impressive, and they have shops in/near several cities I’ll be living in or traveling to with my bike. Their service plans offer a great additional value and the store staff were patient with me doing multiple test rides on multiple bikes as well as having the bike ready for me with lots of added/swapped parts in a quick turnaround!

I ordered a Trek Domane and its absolutely beautiful. Cassandra helped me get everything adjusted and walked me through all of the products I was interested in. Im a curious person and asked many questions regarding the bike, accessories and cycling. Cassandra was super helpful and answered each question with patience and knowledge. I live nearby and will keep taking my bike here as long as they keep their great staff.

I liked the fact that my flat tire was repaired on the spot so that I didnt have to come back to pick up my bike.

Sophie is absolutely fantastic! (Honestly everyone was fantastic but I worked mostly with Sophie). My husband is an avid bicycle rider, so I figured I may as well give it a go. Having only used a bike from toys r us 15 years ago, Sophie did a wonderful job setting me up with a super cool powerfly bike, helmet, shorts, gloves, and a matching water bottle! I couldnt have asked for a better experience!

Very fair treatment! I bought a bike during the winter months and didnt get a chance to ride it until recently. It worked great for a while and then I had some gearing issues after a couple rides. Went in to get it checked out and turns out being the rookie I am, I was fitting it into my car gear side down and broke one of the shifting wires. They told me how to avoid it in the future fixed it and sent me on my way no charges. Any other place could have charged me for the fix but they didnt at all. Didnt even have to ask.

I brought my wife’s bike in for brake repairs, and was quoted a $145 and a 2 week window. They did say that if it was over $145 they would email with details. 3 weeks pass I stop in to inquire as to when it will be finished. They didn’t have any information on why it wasn’t finished. They tell me it will be done by tomorrow obviously it got lost in the mix. I show up to pay and it’s $204 with no email or apology for their obvious mistake. I will never walk through those doors for service or to purchase anything ever.

Adam and Lori were great! I have some body issues that needed to be accommodated with my new bike. Both Adam and Lori asked me a lot of questions to understand what was needed and make recommendations to find the perfect bike for me. They also made adjustments to the bike, swapping out several parts to customize it. The reason I went with this shop was because they were so eager to accommodate this.

What a fantastic experience at Wheel & Sprocket. I ordered a bike rack from them and they left an email immediately when the item had arrived at their store. They offered to take the bike rack out of the box and set it up. When I arrived the next day, they took the time to show me how the rack worked, give me pointers on how to use it, and even set it up on my car. They were friendly and clearly knowledgeable about the products. I would 100% recommend.

After the rear wheel on my sons bike became out of alignment, I brought it to Wheel & Sprocket. The woman that helped me took her time inspecting my sons bike and explained what she was doing. I initially thought the wheel was bent or damaged. She aligned the wheel and took time to check and adjust the derailleur and the back brake, which were also messed up. She added a bit of air in the tires, and adjusted some brake cables in the front for safety. Im not a cyclist. I hardly ride at all due to having a rickety old mountain bike, but I never felt like they would have laughed me out of the store for bringing in my sons Huffy bike. When I was asked if it was my first time at Wheel & Sprocket I said that it was. The woman helping me and a younger man both welcomed me. As I was being rung up I inquired about a handsome Trek Marlin 5 in the store. The woman proceeded to ask me if I thinking about replacing my sons bike or looking for myself. I told her it was for me and she asked what kind of riding I was planning to do. She then wrote down a couple of her recommendations so I could do some research. I will never hesitate to bring a bike to them in the future and when I figure out which bike I want for myself, I know where Ill be making my purchase.

I never do this, but I have to give this shop a 1 star rating now. I asked for my rear brake to be routed and bled. Neither were done properly. My rear brake was waayyy too short, and after speaking with the mechanic he wouldnt even admit that he was in the wrong. He got dot fluid on my brake pads and lost a little rubber gasket that secures my cable port. Got my refund and took my bike to trek West Madison to be fixed.

Sometimes you prefer to pay a little extra to get better customer service. This is often true for lawyers, finance guys but also bikes. For the little additional costs on an ebike I got a full tutorial on maintenance, usage and all I needed to know, didn’t have to waste a min researching online. I wish all the products I purchased were sold by people as knowledgeable and helpful but the world isn’t perfect.

Is it wrong to say your Bike Shop feels like Family?I mostly worked with Lori the manager but interacted at some point with all of the staff. I was treated with a smile and respect. From the front of the store to the back. Great personalities and backgrounds.Im not the most mature endurance rider, (or person!) Through questions and stories, Lori was able to fit me into a 2019 Domane SL 5 with Disk brakes. No pressure sale methods were used, never felt like I asked dumb questions, (I did!) I purchased a great bike at a great price. I left with much more! Education on phone apps, bike events, technique and homework on my posture. Lori took the time, she cares about the sport and people who come into her store. For you experienced riders, I witnessed Lori and her team meet your needs too.Im working up to the MS150 this summer and the advice I received from Lori and hard work from me… I can take on anything!Like I said, Wheel & Sprocket Middleton is the only place to go.Family takes care of Family!

My husband & I recently purchased e-bikes from Wheel & Sprocket (Middleton) and had the pleasure of working with Lori. We were reluctant to shop in-store due to COVID-19. Lori assured me she would assist us every step of the way. Based on her recommendation, I purchased the bikes over the telephone. My bike color of choice wasnt available and was transferred overnight from another store. Lori was conscientious in wearing gloves, a mask and also disinfected the bikes at the time of delivery. Our well-being was of the utmost importance to her. She truly went above and beyond our expectations! Its very evident that providing exceptional customer service is a top priority of the business. We couldnt be happier with our new bikes!

Quick and professional service. Im a bike commuter so I heavily rely on my bike. The multiple times Ive had issues (bent cage, broken spoke), someone was always quick to service it. Usually same day or next day service. Prices on gear is higher, but service is on point.

Adam was phenomenal! I called ahead to ask about service and he was pleasant to speak with on his phone. When I arrived, he acknowledged me right away remembered our phone conversation. Adam was quick to service my bike, and explain what he was doing in a clear way. I appreciated his explanations and his way of recommending things without sounding pushy in a sales-driven way. I work close by, so the location is also convenient. Honestly, it was probably my favorite quick-fix bike shop experience! I plan to bring my bike to your shop, should I need service in the future, on a week day. The only times I foresee not bringing my bike to your shop are weekends b/c I live east of the capitol. Ill probably go to a closer bike shop on the weekend. *Probably.* :)

This is our third time here and every time, the woman whose name i don’t know acted so unfriendly to the extent of hostility probably because we’ve foreign accents. Adam on the other hand was always very welcoming. Today as soon as we entered with masks, this person asked what we need in a hostile manner again. And she acted as such throughout. We’re never going back. The staff except Adam, the only other one we interacted, must go through serious diversity training.

Lori and Adam always make me feel welcome and are on top of their game for service. There are 3 other Trek dealers closer to my home but this store is far and above the best!

I went in for a flat tire and I paid $45 for a new replacement tube, the repairman was friendly. The tire went flat the very NEXT day and the salesman insisted it was a new puncture (it was not). The piece of gravel he pulled out of the tire was there the day prior to the repair. Then the next ride it went flat AGAIN. Ended up having to pay for the first attempted repair and then $50 again for a new tire (after 3 visits), when I could have just gotten a new tire all along and saved myself the hassles, multiple visits, and $50. Worst customer service I’ve ever encountered; $100 for one rear tire is ridiculous and there is no accountability in their work or repairs.

The staff are always friendly and helpful and do their best to get your service done quickly. I am so glad they are staying open during this season. The biking community needs them! Thank you Wheel and Sprocket

Brought in a bike to be serviced, but found out part of its frame was broken. When less expensive replacement part couldnt be found, I was advised it was not worth fixing. The store expended time and energy on my behalf, and ended up not getting any business out of it (I was not charged!). I really appreciate their efforts and honest assessment.

Excellent service! Went in to have my daughters pedals removed (she is learning how to ride her bike). They quoted me a $5 fee on the phone but offered to do it for free in the store and even recognized another problem with the bike that they fixed for free.

Great customer service and no pressure sales from the helpful and knowledgeable manager. She helped us find just the right size bike and helmet for our 11 year olds birthday- a tough age to figure out the right size bike and helmet. We will be back!

Finally made up my mind to get my body back right and needed to get my bike right first. I had the desire to keep my buisness local and was able to find Wheel & Sprocket. Let me tell you something, from the first phone call they were wonderful. They explained and suggested the services I needed without overselling me. W&S set us up for outdoor biking season! Within an hour, we had everything from tubes to lube. I brought our two-year-old daughter and Lori set her up with the cutest goodie bag and let her trial every pink bike in the store. We will be back!

2020 update: quickly fixed my tire issue and it was less expensive than I expected.2018: Needed some repairs a few months ago, assisted by very friendly staff member who was knowledgable and got me back on the road fairly quickly. Ive been happy with my bike since--thanks!

8/2/2019I dropped off my bike for a routine repair the rear wheel was ruptured and needed to be replaced. Before having the “master” mechanic repair my bike both hand brakes worked. Upon having my bike repaired by the “master” mechanic only 1/2 of the hand brakes worked.Now I have to go to another repair shop to get the hand brake fixed due to the gross incompetence of the Wheel and Sprocket Staff. Imagine having your car wheels replaced and then having the mechanic screw up the brake line this is what I experienced at Wheel and Sprocket with my bike. I’ve been a customer at this establishment since 2017 but never again will I have these imbeciles touch my bike.

Wonderful customer service. Everyone in the store was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we forgot his name, but the person who helped us was, knowledgeable and very patient helping our 13 year old daughter finding a bike that was just right for her. Excellent customer service and wide variety of bikes. We can definitely recommend this store to anyone looking for a bike or bike accessories.

Bought a new Trek in June 2012 and had a good buying experience. Came with a free tune-up and decided to take it in to get it. Dropped it off on a wednesday evening hoping it would be done before the weekend. Nick was quick to say that it may not be done until after the weekend, but got a call the next day saying it was ready to pick up. Good service for sure.

I used to go to this bike shop all of the time when I still lived nearby and it was still part of Middleton Cycle and Fitness. I was eager to try it out again to get a new helmet today. I was met by enthusiastic staff that took the time to go through the pros and cons of each model even though I greedily took up almost 30 minutes of their time. I left with a helmet that fits my head, my budget, and my cycling needs (triathlon training and racing, and commuting) perfectly. There are so many variables that go into finding a helmet and bike that fit well for what you intend to use it for, and I value a bike shop that gives you their undivided attention when you come in. I have always been impressed by Middleton Cycle and I look forward to stopping in again. As a bonus for those who also need swim gear, Simply Swimming is right next door!
