I ordered a spare instrument to take out and about and my experience with Guitar Center was excellent. I used their online ordering and was informed of my order every step of the way. My phone contact with them was met with excitement as if my purchase was important to them. I will definitely shop with them again.
Friendly staff, Steven and Robert helped solve my problem when some might have dropped the ball. Thanks guys!
The employees here have always been pretty helpful and work hard to answer your questions the best they can or point you in the direction of the best person to answer those questions. Never really had a bad experience here aside from the time I needed to use my pro coverage and it was not an easy process.. however, GC in Middleton worked extra hard to help me with replacing my damaged speaker.
A special Thank You goes out to store salesperson, Charles in your expertise in helping me find the item I was looking for so quick, answering my many confusing questions and more. If it were within my power, you would receive a double pay raise, this this will definitely not be the last time I visit. Sincerely, Chuck🤘😉!
Very unintelligent staff. Took over two months to get my guitar replaced because no one there has a clue what is going on and that stems from poor leadership. The fact that they only have one guitar technician and the fact that he is barely ever there goes to show how little they have it together at this guitar center. They also sold me a used guitar when I specifically told the salesman I needed a new one for live performances. I will make sure to never come back to this store again.
Knowledgeable staff and large selection of new and used guitars. I worked with Brady and he answered all of my questions with kindness. Overall great experience.
Bought a new Gretch 2420t at the end of March from Middleton Wisconsin Guitar Center, have had a tuning problem wit it since day one, called them back in May to see if they would correct it, sure but they want to charge me 50 to 80 bucks to look at it. Thought it should have been set up to have correct intonation when I bought it. Not real happy with service.
Really knowledgeable staff that were eager to help find what I needed but the only thing of note is they did try get me to spend more on either an upgrade or accessories. But I just chalked that up to maybe a policy they might have so either way if u need any audio tech then this is your place.
Always great and fun staff, they never talk down to us amateurs!
Took my vintage 79 Kalamazoo Les Paul for evaluation. Staff was great. Knowledgeable and professional. Excellent selection for all things guitar.
Small GC, overall nice staff. Could use a bigger selection, especially for cases and accessories. Worth visiting, ask for Moe or the guy with the long Rocker mane.
Lots of gear. We went into the acoustic guitar room and played lots of instruments without interruption. Very comfortable feeling place to shop.
My husband and I just moved out here a year ago this is our closest guitar center and an hour away we finally ventured out on Black Friday of all days to check it out. We brought a few old home studio things to trade in, we got a decent trade in amount offer, so we also went ahead and purchased some new stuff. The staff was super knowledgeable and helpful without being overly pushy. overall the store was nice clean people were respectful and we had a great afternoon picking out some new equipment.
I am glad theres this Guitar Center in this side of town. Before I always had to go to the east side. Either way, east or west. I have always experienced amazing customer service. Do I have a question on acoustic guitars, electric, amps, aux cables, headphones... you name it. There is always someone there willing to help and with such a good mood. Today I bought an acoustic guitar and all smiles and helpful staff. Through store re-location, pandemics, and crazy times, I always come back for more. After all, music connects us all in a way.You guys get my recommendation and support.
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
Enjoyed the buying experience and their willingness to order what I needed. Good choices for the Peavey.
Generally helpful, decent selection although the supply issues are still a continuous issue. They didnt have the XLR cable length I was looking for not their fault.
I visit here frequently with my partner as we fantasize over various instruments even though neither of us can afford them.I agree to an extent with reviews that the associates don’t ask the customers frequently if they need assistance. Which honestly, I don’t mind as I like being able to make my own decisions on things without an associate breathing down my neck trying to sell me stuff. I do often see employees lurking in the area so it’s not hard to flag one down for assistance if I have questions or want to test out equipment.
The sales reps in this location dont know how to properly test a guitar amp before shipping out to customers. They sent me a non functional Fender Superchamp WITHOUT the power chord. Second guitar center location to show its utter incompetence and inability to compete with companies like Sweetwater, Zzounds and SamAsh.Do yourself a favor and avoid guitar center like the plague that it is.
Wonderful decor and displays. If you want to see the best guitars come here
Terrible guest service. Had to go out of my way multiple times just to get information or help. Still didnt receive any. Not sure if these guys were ignoring me because I didnt look like a mainstream rocker or what. Either way, they lost a sale and wont receive my business any time soon.
Very poorly stocked, staff was useless, and theres really no rhyme or reason to where things are located. Ive been to other Guitar Centers in Wisconsin and Illinois, and this one is hands down the worst.
Its always fun to visit those store and play the instruments, most of the customer service was good.
Great prices and selection! And lots of staff to help you get anything you need for any band, gig,or just having fun and they buy used gear.
Wanted service on my electric guitar, was ignored by employees that were too excited about some guy that brought in a neat guitar. Waited for 20 min with no acknowledgement of my presence so I left. Not happy to leave a bad review as service at the old location was very personable and good.
Great people that are very helpful and happy to be so.
Emergency rub to Guitar Center the day after Christmas and the service was still top notch. I was able to find not one but two instruments that are rarely available in stores. The gentleman who was helping me went to do some research for me and had only been away for a minute when another store employee asked if he could be of assistance. This man was the store manager and he was full of sales and positivity. After I explained that I was being helped, her located his employer and made sure he found what he was looking for in the inventory. I had an extremely positive experience and if you go there I hope you do as well.
Great selection of amazing Guitars, premium music accessories, and popular songbooks. Perfect place to shop for my Dads birthday.
Ive had such excellent experiences at this Guitar Center! It started when I was interested in purchasing a guitar and the staff assisting me were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I was eager to relearn the guitar on my own but was intrigued by the lessons package that they offered. William has been my instructor for several months now - he is extremely talented and is a true teacher--able to translate the information so that you can understand and progress. Each time I walked into the store I am greeted politely by smiling faces. Definitely deserving of 5-stars!
Hard to get good technical support for my questions about Roland. Basic information is good.
I secretly played 0-3-5 and they didnt catch me.Bought my epiphone les paul P90 and everything went well, staff is very receptive, not a lot of visitors so its covid safe.
Great selection of instruments and accessories. Friendly and helpful sales staff with reasonable prices.
Its a nice place. Ive bought a few things here. It would be nice if they had s store on the Eastside too.
Worst place Ive ever been too. Stood there for 40 minutes while a person goofed around in there well long before i was even there. Dont waste your time going. Go to a different one.
I purchased a $2300 guitar in May 2020 under their Covid 180 day return window. We negotiated 10% off, which in my experience is pretty standard in most music stores. In the following week or so I had decided to wait for a different color of the guitar to come in stock. Knowing I would eventually exchange, I did not play the guitar in order to keep it in returnable condition. After months of not seeing the color I wanted in stock on the website, I called the store to see what my options were. I spoke with the manager and he said I would be able to exchange it and theyd be able to get one from another store. A few days ago I attempted to exchange the guitar and they wouldnt do an even exchange. It was going to cost me $240+ (the 10%) to exchange for a different color. To me, thats really nickel and dimey. They were unsympathetic and had no real intention of making sure I walked away happy. Ive purchased a few guitars from them in the past, so Im not just a one-time customer, and they didnt feel like attempting to keep my business. After leaving with my original guitar I was about to drive away and decided their ambivalence and lack of customer service wasnt enough to earn my business. I messaged Chicago Music Exchange and they matched the price for the color I wanted, with free set up and shipping invoiced in my email within 5 mins. In case Guitar Center brass is wondering, thats what real customer service looks like. I walked back in and returned the guitar and will never buy another from Guitar Center again.
Guitar center is okay as a guitar shop. Their selection is pretty good but I have met a lot more experienced and knowledgeable gutar/music store employees than I have here. Prices seemed average to me; nothing struck me as being a particularly good or bad deal.Had to make a return and there was no hassle. Actually, recalling how easy this was made me knock my review up a star.I was very impressed by the Covid response here, they seemed to be taking every precaution.
I have just had the worst experience in GC. I had a lot, good ones and not so good but in all the cases I just don’t understand why you end loosing a lot of time every time you make business with them. This is something that happens with all GC’s, so I would like to clarify that what I’m posting next could have happen at any Guitar Center store.I’ve bought a used Ludwig hand hammered bronce snare by the web page. It was listed as “excellent condition”(the pictures seemed to reflect that and algo it has diecast hoops) and that included a case. When I went to this store to order it, I asked Steve (he was awesome btw) if he could call the store where the snare was and confirm with them if the case was included and if the snare was in the “excellent condition” that the listing said. They told me that the case wasn’t anymore included but the snare was great, so Steve figured out with the store manager to get me a soft case with the snare. All up to here was great. When the snare arrives and I get it out from the box in the store, I noticed that somebody messed with it by changing the hoop, they said “Taiwan”, when everyone knows that Ludwig is made in the United States (also the add said it). Also the hoops had some rust on them, pretty “excellent condition”, right? So I decided to get a refund from GC... and here we go again. All the process is so slow and bureaucratic that you feel like your are being punished for returning an item... yes, for returning an item that they messed up in the first place.I paid cash, but due to GC politics they always make the refunds in a cheque. The ball is always on their side of the field...Now I have the cheque that I have to wait more that an hour, without the sum of the shipping because they forgot to put it on it... once again waiting long time for $10, so I decided to buy something with that money because I was to tired of waiting.I go to Wells Fargo to cash the cheque and they start verifying at the phone with GC so they can give me the money... GC told the bank not to pay me and that I should go back to the store.Back to the store I spoke to Logan, the manager, he spokes with the bank and tell me to go again there.Back again to the bank, verification process again, waiting again. Got the cash. Of course - $7 cashing fee...It’s pity because GC has good deals on used items, but I’m not going to make business again with them. All the process it’s very denigrating although if the customer is always “& really” right.
It was fun to look around and play different guitars. I was there at the same time as my cousin who had called ahead and reserved a keyboard. The store couldnt find the reservation but they had the equipment so my cousin was able to get it. But when my cousin got to the venue and set up the keyboard, the cables were not working. Someone had to run back to the store and get new cables. Make sure to check that the equipment works before leaving the store!
Badass instruments for a decent price, great staff here. Highly recommend stopping by for your music needs.
Busy place with background guitar players who think they are In Heaven.
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff
It was a nice and friendly place. Drumsticks were at a reasonable price.
Staff was very nice and helpful. Great selection of guitars too!
Ordered a $400+ guitar online and had it shipped to this location for pickup. The listing said that it came with a hard shell case. When I opened the package at guitar center and realized it did not come with the case I politely asked them to check into. Began very kindly and humbly saying I thought a mistake had occurred but making it clear I would still like the case for it. I was told that it had been returned to the store I ordered it from without the case but the online listing must never have been updated. They told me that they were entirely unable to pull the listing back up to confirm it said it came with a case (seems convenient?) but that they would continue to check into and try to find the original case and they would contact me. I called back after two weeks to politely check up on where things sat. Was told that they were super busy and that they hadnt found it yet and they couldnt work on it right now, Im like super busy right now with three customers but I promise I will touch base with my managers and try to come with a solution for you. That was about two weeks ago I believe and still no word or follow up. Im not mad so much as disappointed that I was told they would work on it and so I did not return it within the return window (they actually asked me if I would return it if they couldnt find the case, I said I would like to keep but I would like the case I was supposed to get) Like I said I am not overly mad I just want the situation corrected, I get that they are a corporate shop and management probably sucks and they are just trying to do their job. No hard feelings but I would either like the case or a partial refund for the cost of a case.
First time buying a ukulele. The young man was very helpful. I will definitely be back.
Its nothing like old-school guitar center. But what do I expect Im in the Midwest
Not as many bases as I would have liked. But it is what it is
This is the biggest Guitar Center I have been in. Great selection new and used. Sales people were helpful and friendly. Nice stage lighting area. Decent size rhythm section, and of course awesome guitars with an acoustic room. I had a great visit and bought a keyboard. Sure to return.
My last visit was terrible! Ive been purchasing equipment from Guitar Center since they opened in Madison Wi During my last visit on returning items which I was told that the Bass strings would work? Well.....they didnt! When I returned them ( I attempted toooo) I was treated poorly and the manager was rude and unprofessional! Its been over a year ago and I never went back! And never will! Thanks.........I just needed to Vent!
Great people to deal with.
Very polite and super helpful
The staff was AMAZING!! The young man that helped me gave me honest feedback on the guitars and accessories and didnt try to sell me based on price the wanted the best for me and I truly appreciated that!! Definitely will be going back and I highly recommend!!
Enjoy looking for used gear here.
Ive shopped there a couple times now & its always been pleasant. The sales associates were there & helpful when needed, but werent constantly pestering. Prices looked to be comparable with what you find online. I will definitely return & happily recommend this store!
This store is large and has a good selection. The staff is quite helpful and friendly. I have never felt pushed to purchase anything but have a significant amount of help when trying to make a decision for a purchase. The location is convenient and there is a lot of space for multiple people to be around playing without being in the way.
Very fun to explore and play instruments in, I come here every once in a while with a friend and its a lot of fun. They also have useful equipment for making music.
Excellent service!! We were looking for a guitar for our daughter to learn with and Logan, the sales rep, was more than willing to help us out. He played different brands of guitars for us so we could hear the difference in them. We got a very reasonably priced acoustic guitar as well as some accessories to start out with. Very pleased and will definitely be returning in the future.
Hang out. Play a guitar, battle if you must. THIS is where you will get the instruments of torture xD
I love the service and the safety measures that they put in place good job
Long time customer of this store both at its current location in Middleton and previous location on Whitney. Whether I am purchasing, returning an item or just looking shopping here is always a no hassle experience. From the moment you walk in the door you are treated as a professional and given the space to play. When you need further assistance; ask. They are always willing to assist. If you are looking for the plastic, Hi how are you experience of what passes for customer service at most stores, you probably wont get that here. But if you really want to explore the instruments and get assistance as you need it, this is a good place to be. Special kudos to their guitar tech: Jeremy K.
If youre a drummer, this just aint the place for you. The choices they give you are slim, and even then, theyre consistently understocked.
Im not sure the name of the employee who helped me, but I had a part missing from my guitar and wanted to purchase one. It was a small washer/nut and he simply went behind the counter and gave me one for free with the request that I come back soon! Excellent customer service. Also, one of the only places in town that has an updated synthesizer section with some of the newest models under 1000. Its important for customers to be able to try their purchase first, and they provide that experience with a great choice of instruments on display. Every experience Ive had there has been nothing but pleasant. Will definitely return for my musical needs!
Update: the staff here continues to be awesome, so Im updating to add a star.Banjo and mandolin inventory is small and limited to imported entry level stuff. Avoid if you want anything other than guitars or drums. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Three stars because they let you play anything for unlimited time, and the staff is good.
Best selection of equipment Ive seen. Some really friendly staff too. Didnt feel the typical sales push you get at a chain.
Went in to talk about buying a new instrument. No one even asked if I needed help with anything. Now, I dont want to be hovered over like Im fresh meat, but a single question would have been nice. Guess you missed out on a few hundred bucks today.
I mean its guitar center if you really want something you probably shouldnt go here the text art this the best you wait in line for 30 minutes sometimes because nobody can process a simple transaction on the register its probably not the worst thing that theyre going out of business
Large store. Well organized! Staff is VERY helpful and friendly. Lots of instruments to try. Huge selection. Great location.
Like almost every other guitar center Ive been too. Employees more often than not are incompetent. For example, I asked if they had a Telecaster Deluxe and was shown a Stratocaster.I come here just to look at their used gear because those prices are decent.Youll have a much better experience at Daves over off of Fish Hatchery in Fitchburg
Guitar center is like a candy shop for any musician except 1000% more intimidating. They have a nice selection and I find their pricing reasonable and their staff to be helpful, but the whole place is a sensory overload. I really prefer smaller music stores in terms of buying gear, but guitar center tends to be more reliable overall
Friendly and helpful employees, a lot of great instruments to play around with. They sell new and used depending on your budget and preference. If youre looking to try a couple guitars or ukuleles though expect to have to tune them first.
I had a great time.. The Manager Sam..is an awesome person to talk. I start my Guitar lessons this week..
I sent in my guitar for a set-up which is essentially a tune-up. They go through and clean it, test the electronics, adjust action, make repairs, etc. They did a great job and quickly at that! My only complaint is that my guitar still sounded a little muddy when I got it back and I noticed the battery to my active pickups was dead. Im just surprised they didnt replace when they had it.
I just left the store on deming way and I have to say Im completely dissatisfied with the service I received from the staff working tonight. I came in to get a my late brother Alexs guitar restrung. Just one string. Out of the three guys working in there they either didnt want to do it or said they were too busy to do it. At 8 o clock at night. There was only one other guy in there. One of them suggested I go on YouTube and figure it out myself. And Im pretty sure he was the manager. Absolutely ridiculous. Ill never go back there again. I should have just ordered something online. This is exactly why brick and mortar stores are going out of business. No service
Ive been here twice since this location opened. The place is beautiful. And although the store is fairly small, they have a surprisingly good selection of items to choose from. Unfortunately I was never greeted or acknowledged on either of my two visits. Both times the employees were chatting with each other. I ended up purchasing my instrument from Amazon.
The staff has been amazing helping me resolve issues with GC online purchases. They are also friendly, courteous and ready to help you out with questions or demos. I love that there are always plenty of staff there to assist you. Their guitar tech Jeremy is incredible. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional. An overall great place to go if youre in need of gear or repairs.
(Update)(w I still HAVENT gotten over 650 to dollars in funds it the 18th today I canceled the 9th DO NOT ORDER HERE)+ give no stars I definitely would this is been the worst experience in my entire life I first off ordered an audio interface for $109 then the next day I got an email saying that my order was canceled so I waited and then the next day I decided to order a new one and they told me they didnt have that one and thats why it was cancelled without anybody even calling me or telling me so I ended up paying $249.99 for a PreSonus package and the guy wrote my address in wrong when I gave him my billing information for my card so they canceled that one as well so then I had to order another one and this time I called the store and ordered another THEY MESSED MY BUILDING ADDRESS UP AGAIN. SO NOW I HAVE TO TRY 3 AND $700 LATER I STILL HAVE NO PACKAGE AND HAVE YET TO GET ANY KIND OF REFUND. DO NOT ORDER YOUR STUFF HERE!!!
Huge selection, very friendly and knowledge sales people. Ive been shopping there for years for my mobile DJ business. Their prices are fair and they have a great selection with tons of items on display for hands-on demos. Id definitely recommend shopping there!
Awesome! Cassidy and Carlos are so helpful :)
Steve and Monte went above and beyond with their customer service. Found what I needed in time for Christmas! Thanks guys you rock!
I often find my way over to this store just to dink around musical instruments. The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable. If you ever have a musical itch you need to scratch, I suggest you stop by.
Awesome place! The guy who I talked to, Charles, is great! Look for him!
Guitar Center has a great atmosphere if you want to just wander in and try out guitars, pianos, effects, etc. The staff doesnt hover or try to sell you anything, and they help me when I ask (the guy at the maintenance desk is very helpful). I really like the layout in their new store, but I understand the complaints from drummers. I never had the courage to play their acoustic drums, so it doesnt make much difference to me that the drums only have a corner of the new open floor plan. The guitar and bass sections are welcoming to those who want to just play around on different instruments, and the sound-proof acoustics room is pretty much the same as every Guitar Center Ive seen (maybe a bit smaller).
Had a nice time with my granddaughter. Thanks for the fun. Everyone there are nice.
The store in Rockford gets 5 stars easy. The couple of times Ive been in this one no one seems to have a clue. Theyre nice, they just dont seem to know the store or what they have and dont have.
Worked with Kyle. Ordered two different high-end acoustic guitars, but neither were quite the dream guitar I was looking for. Throughout this process of buying, trying out, returning and then buying again and ultimately returning, etc., Kyle was very helpful and understanding. Also bought an acoustic amp which they did not have in stock so Kyle let me take home the display model until my amp arrived. Also helped me test out the microphone that came with the amp when I wasnt sure it was working correctly. He also matched the Amazon price. In short, Kyle was a pleasure to work with, and if I do end up buying a guitar from GC, I will work with Kyle again.
Went in for what should’ve been a simple return and exchange of a Snark tuner. The employee that first helped helped was very incompetent. I couldn’t remember which store I had purchased the tuner at a year before, but after searching under my account, the worker said it didn’t show up and didn’t make an effort to search purchases from other stores. After calling the Brookfield Guitar Center, they were more than willing and able to locate the store and confirm my purchase and pro coverage. When I went back to the counter and kept persisting and told them the exact store, the manager was able to finally find it. The first worker then called the pro coverage phone number and filed a claim and now they will refund me when they receive confirmation that I have sent the tuner in. So now it will be a few more days till I will be able to get a new tuner, and by then I’ll be out of town again.
We went through our storage unit and found some things we no longer needed. We ended up deciding to only sell one thing, which we got a very reasonable price on. The process took a bit but that’s how those things go. If you need to sell a music item this would be the most efficient place to go.
Ive had some up and down service since they moved to their Middleton location. There was an older gentleman who was pretty attentive and helpful whenever I came in and the guitar tech was pretty quick and did good work adjusting an acoustic I had purchased there. But the negatives are terrible. Like most people here Ive been going to this guitar shop for years and have spent my own small fortune when they were out on Whitney. But lately, I cant seem to find anything of higher quality. Some older models of guitars, cheaper models and some used gear. When I can find something that looks promising, most of the employees ignore you. My last time in I literally made eye contact with one employee and they walked the other way. And it doesnt help that they are so far out of the way... driving that far in rush hour just to be blown off is a waste of time.
They seem to not update their inventory numbers. The website would say that something can be picked up the same day and then it turns out it will need to be shipped to the store instead. Happened a couple times now.
Thanks to store manager Andrew I will be continuing to buy and Shop at Guitar Center. I bought an amp offline from the East Coast and when I got it in to the Madison location it was in far worse shape than described. They couldnt fix the amp either but Andrew told me to go get it fixed and serviced and bring the receipt back and they will take care of it.Thats excellent customer service and I wont forget it.!.
Early and Skylar helped me trade in some used gear and I bought a lot of new gear. Early helped setup a new Epiphone guitar that I purchased. I am very pleased with my shopping experience at this Guitar Center. Early went the extra mile to make sure I was satisfied with my purchases. I will most definitely shop here again when I travel to Middleton.
Went to the Madison, Wisconsin store. Friendly, very helpful people. Very knowledgeable. They helped me pick out my first guitar. I bought a second guitar a couple of years later from them. I would not go anywhere else.
I guess it’s what you should expect from the Taco Bell of music stores... wait...Taco Bell is way better.
The staff was amazing! I came in with my broken guitar and they had it fixed in ten minuets. They were super friendly and amazing! Im definitely going to go here again!
We rented equipment for our wedding. We made told them what we needed a couple months in advance. A week or so before the wedding we called to confirm, and they had no records of our rental. We told them the rental again, and they said they would put it aside for us.When I arrived to pick up everything, they only had half of the things we rented. It tool a very long time to get everything together. When we tried to set the equipment up for the wedding, we found that there were cords missing, and we were unable to hook up most of the equipment. It was very dissapointing.
I have gotten a lot of good deals on gear for both me and my son from the Madison Guitar Center. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and always helpful. I have never had anyone hover over me in the store. Only complaint is that their point of sale system seems a bit over complicated and it sometimes takes too long to check out because of that, but that is a corporate issue and not a local store issue.
