They have a good selection and the employees working around the store are helpful. But the some of the cashiers are some of the rudest people I have ever met.

The good: Great classic hardware store that I enjoy going to regularly. For the most part they have almost everything you need.The less than good:. Help, is hit and miss. Some of the staffing knocks it out of the park, but more than 50% do not know the inventory, have very limited knowledge regarding anything related to repairs, (Its kind of their business), nearly unintelligible local language skills, demonstrate total apathy if not outright disdain towards customers.But again, there is one person I know of that works in the tool section and he knows his stuff and is quite helpful. Kudos to him. 👍

I used to think this place was a little overpriced but not anymore. They are on par with pretty much everybody else. But they have tons of OTHER cool stuff you wont find anywhere else. It is like a hybrid 5 & 10 cent store and super stocked hardware store. Just dont go in there if you have been putting stuff off because they have every little thing for you to get the job done. And then some! Your excuses will be drowned in rust remover; your procrastination will be conquered with heavy duty picture hanging wire; and your vision will clear with Auto Window Defogger. You will even think of things to fix you hadnt even thought of before. Its like they fill the air with Dad crack. God bless you Goodmans, you little weirdo.

I’ve been shopping here for a long time and would have given it a higher rating if it weren’t for a bad experience last weekend.I don’t feel comfortable shopping in person at crowded stores these days. So I placed an order online through the Ace site for pickup at Goodman’s. 24 hours went by and no “ready” email was sent. I clicked the Check Order button at the Ace website and it just sat there and spun.I called Ace and they said they couldn’t tell me the status and I’d have to call the store. So I called them and was told they didn’t have a record of the order and told me to call Ace. Frustrated, I cancelled the order on the Ace site.Then I see that my card was charged for the order. So I contacted Ace again and was told the refund would come through in 7-10 days. Excuse me!?I will never trust Ace to handle an online order again and will have to take my business elsewhere.

I like Goodman because its just off the freeway and if I just need one thing, Im in and out in under 10 minutes.

Lots of things packed into their building and they even have a Rain Room with supplies like tarps (many types and sizes), rubber boots, rain gear, roof patch, etc. The staff is always helpful when you need to find something.

Im an avid DIYer and dread going to this place. It has a good selection of lots of things, if you can find them. But if you need help, brace yourself for a wild ride. Staff are consistently curt, rude and disinterested. Such a shame, as this could be a jewel in Millvalley but instead it’s an unpleasant experience at best.

Hey, I love hardware stores; tools, wood, little parts... All the stuff comes together in a way that feels comforting even though it appears messy and only somewhat organized. Goodmans is one of those places I love to explore, up and down each isle. One of the last great hardware stores.(there is another in Sausalito thats is pretty good too, different review 🧐)

Theyve got a little bit of everything all over the place. Some would say its a merchandising nightmare, Id call it an adventure. A friendly and knowledgeable staff will guide you through it all.

Dont buy paint at Goodmans! The lighting is terrible and it seems to be a big deal to open the door. The paint match scanner is defective. There are 3 large lights over the counter that arent flourescent that should be turned on to help customers and clerks see the true color after matching. The color I had matched looked like the right color in their poor light, but when I brought it home, its 3 shades lighter even in a dark corner. On top of that, the man behind the counter, a long-time employee, was less than helpful and very unfriendly borderline rude. As if he doesnt realize how important matching a color is in terms of touch-ups and painting adjacent walls. Adding insult to injury, when I asked about the Ben Moore sale sign posted out front, instead of checking the computer or flyers, the clerk had to call the paint guy all the way over to her desk to tell her if there was a sale. After waiting 5 minutes for him, I gave up in frustration and paid full price. I intend to lodge my complaint with management.11/4: The owner responded promptly referring this to the manager of Goodmans over a week ago but I have heard nothing!11/7: Goodmans manager, Martin, called and gave me a credit directly to my account for one gallon because I needed to get the paint job started. It turns out, 2 of the gallons were the correct color. I happened to open the only can of the 3 that was the wrong color.Imagine my surprise after my painter did 2 ceilings and, when we opened the other cans, they were the color I wanted but not the color that Id spent money use. Not to mention all the hours I spent painting the walls myself with the wrong color!PS: I went to Home Depot where I got the correct color for half the price - 20 bucks per gallon for comparable paint.

During New Years eve partying my boyfriend accidentally put his hand thru my screen door and fell into my artificial xmas tree . The tree branches I can bend back into shape, the screen door was going to need re-screening however . Home depot had kits to do our own re-screening and the 2 men who waited on us were as helpful as can be but B.F. and I werent feeling like handy men. The next morning we went to Goodmans and as luck would have it they did re-sreening. Everyone at Goodmans was polite and helpful, the fella whom did my screen door did a beautiful job 👍😊👍. Thank you Goodmans staff I will definitely be shopping there again

They have almost everything a hardware store needs to offer, and then some. Some really hard yo find service a like replacing screens. Despite being in pricey southern Marin, prices are competitive with Home Depot. Convenient location.

Crazy place to shop; one fellow commented that after 30yrs he now knows where to find things, but they have all kinds of hard to find items. Half the workers walk around in a catatonic fog, others are super helpful, but its important to support these small businesses who employee so many.

Love it, staff was very kind, and I was able to get wood for my table that I was building. Great prices and it’s local. Amazon doesn’t sell wood, so I don’t know what I would do without them.

Great General hardware store with pretty much everything youll need including the addition of some Lumber and garden supplies. The prices are a little higher than some but the convenience cant be beat. If they dont have what you need, they will often be able to order it for you at no additional cost. On Sunday is they have a 15% storewide discount!

Worst service experience of my life. Nobody knows where anything is. Even if they do. They wont help you find it. One of the employees who gave us the run-around purposfully spoke at a volume that was so low it was completely inaudible. I actually had to ask him if he was talking to me or just mumbling to himself. Ill NEVER go back. I went right from there to Waterstreet Hardware and got exactly what I needed from a knowledgeable, courteous and helpful person who seemed to genuinely want to be there.

Perfect place to pick up materials on the way to work. It is located right off the 101 freeway and very convenient. They have a nice amount of gardening and building supplies. Their paint department and painting supplies could use improvements, they are not up to the standards and quality of a regular paint store.

Your experience may vary to mine. The place is super crowded with items. The aisles are narrow making it hard to navigate if there is another person shopping in the aisle.The employees I did interact with were not friendly. I was almost run over by one as he was hurrying down the aisle I was in.This is not the type of Ace hardware I am using to shopping at. The employees are friendly and helpful. I left the store without buying anything as the line was long and slow. I also gave up trying to find the all the items I was shopping for.Your experience may be differentthan mine.Update 1/21/20 - Goodmans did reach out to me regarding my review. They are working on the issues I posted about. The most concerning issue to me was the poor customer service I experienced at the store. I am a fan of the locally owned stores and want this business to succeed.

Goodman Building Supply is awesome. Its a hardware, tools, fixtures and garden store. The main part of the store is dedicated to hardware, tools, fixtures, etc., all the standard fare for a hardware store, but attached to that is a large garden store, with garden tools, seeds, plants, soil and much more. Also they have a popcorn machine at the hardware cashier section (delicious).

I was visiting my uncle and found he needed a little electrical work done. I needed some supplies and this was the closest place. I was very surprised when I walked in. The store is pretty crammed but crammed full of useful items. The had a pretty good selection of electrical supplies and their prices were not up bad. If Im in the area again doing work I will be going back.

Reminds me of the Orchard Supply Hardware chain. Friendly, helpful staff and lots of stuff at great prices. If you cant find what you need here, it probably doesnt exist!

The personal assistance cant be beat at this Mill Valley hardware store. Beau helped me to troubleshoot a problem and he was able to fix it for me on the spot. A true community hardware store that has earned its 5 stars. PS, Ialso love their tasty pop corn.

I have never came to the store before didnt even know it existed and Im working about 5 minutes away from it so when I told somebody I was going to home depot 25 minutes away they said you should try This Nice little hardware store when I walked in I was completely lost is different at most hardware stores very crowded but I came across a very nice man his name was Martin and he directed me exactly where I needed to be got me whatever I was looking for and when I was done he even helped me a to expedite the line this is the kind of costamar service that you would expect from a small store but Martin was going above and beyond I did not interact with anyone else other than the guy on the paint department Which was also a really nice man so over all I wish there war more stars to be able to give to these 2 guys thank you for being so amazing with customer service and era were most people just get pay for the job and be done Without any care for the consumer

Goodman Building Supply ~ Ace Hardware on Redwood Highway ~ is a mess. Its dirty, its old and those who work here do not appreciate their customers ~ they are grumpy, bored, unpleasant and at times, just plain rude [I was generous in giving this store three stars].But this Goodman Ace Hardware does not reflect ALL the Ace Hardware stores: The BEST Ace Hardware store in my general vicinity is the one located on Clement Street in San Francisco [right off of Arguello]: the store is VERY clean and organized, the sales staff are all so nice, helpful and pleasant. To them, I give Five Stars.

Avoid this place (if you can). The employees act like theyve been condemned to spend eternity in this crowded, disorganized store and take it out on you when and if you can track one down. I find San Rafael Lumber so much more pleasant (and worth the extra drive).

Goodmans is by far the best hardware store In Marin. It is easily located off of HWY 101, and theres always parking available. They have great service, and a large selection of items that would fulfill most peoples needs. I like supporting the few remaining merchants that remain in Marin. Plus checkout the days they have additional discounts. I believe Sundays is a discount day, and they have additional promotions. One of their best promotions is a day offering discounts for woman only. Its for all those reasons I will only use Goodmans for my hardware and paint needs.

Service is shoddy...hit or miss with who you work with, alot of staff seem overworked and angry. We try and avoid this monopolized hardware store location as much as possible. Theyre lucky they have this location and decent products.

Incredible staff. Just today I returned some items that werent in the system any longer and they were able to accept them without a problem because I shop there frequently and the items showed up under my customer number. Recently another staff person took 15 minutes to help me solve an irrigation dilemma. I could go on, but Ill spare you. No wonder the parking lot is always full.

After shopping at Goodmans for half a century, unfortunately they have started hiring their employees from Jupiter.You can tell because they are stupider.You used to be able to ask for technical advice about plumbing issues etc.Now they dont even know what they carry or where to find it.I thought it impossible to make home depot employees look smart but thats how far theyve fallen. RIP Goodmans.....

Pretty good location, with good discounts on certain days. Their selection is pretty good, but its pretty hit-and-miss with the staff. You kinda have to be lucky to get a good one to help you out. Usually plenty of parking though and a good garden center.

It is close to Freeway. Next door is a gas station and drive through coffee shop. Their price is resealable. The people work at Goodman are very nice and helpful.

I always use this easy to get to place on the 101 frontage road in mill vally. It right next to the cheapest gas station around as well, so filler up and save another 5 bucks!
