I bought a set of ACS Custom Pro 17 earplugs and had them fitted at the companys main US office in Millbrae CA. Ive tried zillions of kinds of earplugs, ranging from cheap foamies to musicians electronic plugs to high-end tactical comms headsets; ACSs Pro 17s are the best in terms of a balance of comfort and sound quality. The Pro 17s have the flattest frequency attenuation of any plugs Ive tried (rivaled only by Cotrals, which are not available in the US). The only earpro Ive tried that are even close to the Pro 17s in sound quality are Etymotics MusicPro MP9-15 electronic plugs, which cost more, require batteries, kill the bass, and are less comfortable. Wearing the Pro 17s is pretty much just like turning the volume down to a comfortable level, and I can comfortably wear them all day for several days straight at a music festival. If you can get to ACSs offices in the SF Bay Area, NYC, LA, or London, they will make your earmolds for free. Normally, youd have to go to a partnered audiologist to have this done. Another advantage of going to the main office is that you can see all the styles of silicon available for the plugs (I got sparkle silver). They look pretty different in person vs. the pictures on the website. The people at the office were nice and efficient. I had a couple of minor QA issues (loose cord and too small a case packed in) when I got my finished plugs ten days after getting the ear impressions made. ACS responded to my email the next morning and sent me two new cases and a cord overnight, free of charge. Fantastic!
