I’ve been this place for nearly 10 times as an international student. I like this place. The first time, the front desk staff will ask u to watch the safety video again and again and again. They are very responsible for the consumer, they declined one of my friend twice since she always couldn’t answer their questions of how to safely use a gun! They offer plenty of guns for rental, pistols, shotguns, semi-automatic rifle, NO ROCKET! They sell guns too. Fun place though.

Very, very affordable guns, fun indoor range! SIG P226 for $930!!!!!! Also have high-end custom 1911s. Not always the most knowledgeable employees, but for the most part they are very helpful and (mostly friendly). The manager Cathy is a doll! Paul is very friendly and helpful. Hes very generous with his time and legitimately skilled. They don’t sell AR15’s and such. Be forewarned. This is mostly a handgun range and store with a few shotguns. This place gets busy on peak hours so be mindful of the time you go! Sometimes you have to wait. The range stays open very late (12am) which is amazing!

Legit indoor shooting range.Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Patrons seem to follow the rules most of the time. Looks to be wide selection for anyone interested in handguns.Average cost for shooting a Sig or 1911 is around $75, 4 boxes of ammo, ear protection for two, and 4 target sheets. Pretty good price for a solid hour of shooting.

Great gun shop and shooting range. Large selection. Of handguns. Also carries rifles, shotgun and amunition. You can rent gun there. Have a lanes for shooting. The lane have a target hanger from ceiling, and are electric. The shooting area has sound absorbing material on wall which reduce greatly the noise. The staff seems to be some what knowledgeable. Cannot come alone and rent a gun, need to be with a buddy if you dont have your own gun. Hours are convenient. Sales shut down before store close. I think it is 10 pm but need to confirm with staff.

And even though I walk in with my own gun, one of these idiots decides he needs to watch their patronizing safety video and then makes us wait another 10 minutes before I decide they have wasted enough of our time of our and walk out. Good way to do business morons. Next time well go back to Reeds.

This place has decent customer service. The range room is small you can get bumped by other people walking by while youre firing. The ventilation is mediocre at best. When I fired the lead lingers in the air and you can see it in front of your face so I use my hands to wave it away and its warm. However the sound deadening in this place is one of the best Ive been in the Bay Area. It sounds like a thud more than a bang which is good for your ears. However some people like the big bang sound better for effect.

There arent too many places in the south bay area that you can shoot at today. Target Masters has been around for decades and I have been coming in for all of them. Rare that I take the time to write a review but I had to post this up.Ive been going to Target Masters for over 3 years renting their firearms and buying plenty of ammo in the process.Ive introduced at least 10 people to shooting guns and chose to come here for their first time. Ive even brought my two young kids to shoot here for their first time and plenty of times after. When I decided to purchase my first firearm I decided to purchase it here. I put it on layaway and I was told to sign some paperwork. No one told me I only had 90 days to finish paying for it. Admittedly, my fault for NOT reading the terms, but I trusted the people there to properly advise me. Lesson learned the hard way!Last night I went in with my daughter with the intent on making a payment on the gun I had on layaway and rent a couple guns for us to shoot. When the attendant looked up my paperwork I was informed that my transaction had been canceled and that I had lost my money.I was very surprised!!!I was told to call today and talk to the owner. Called in today and spoke to Bill.Bill has helped me plenty of times while renting firearms in the past and was always pretty good to me.He looked up my paperwork and confirmed my transaction was canceled due to none response.I had invested about $400-500 dollars and had about $300-400 left to pay.I had received two calls early on reminding me I still had a gun saved for me and each time Id make a payment. Had I known there was a time limit or a problem I wouldve done things differently.Anyhow, Im speaking with Bill today, I experienced some of the WORST customer service Ive ever experienced.I was basically told that I lost my gun, all the money I paid and when I told Bill that it was no way to treat a customer, he told me he didnt care. Told him Id never patronize Target Masters anymore and never refer anyone again and he said, Good, and good luck with that!. - WOW! Plenty of other stuff said that Ill refrain from posting, but needless to say, I will never be spending a penny more here.I have many Police Officer friends and I will definitely have a conversation about my experience at Target Masters.Too bad. I USED to really enjoy going there.

Ive been going to Reeds in Santa Clara since Ive been shooting here in the Bay Area, and wanted to try out the other place in town, especially because they are open later. The staff was nice, and they were very accommodating even though it was my first time at Target Masters. Their rental prices were very competitive, and I liked that they charged per session unless they had people waiting, in which they would actually come fetch you. Nice that I didnt really have to worry about the clock; just shoot and have a good time. The thing that I really didnt like is that the barriers between shooters were shallow. You can see in the pictures of the lanes that there is actually a gap between the full height main barrier and the half height deflector so that anytime someone shoots next to you, you feel the blowback gas pulse from the gun. Mind you, they werent shooting magnums or anything. And it wasnt the shockwave either that I felt. It was the actual gas discharging. As a newish shooter, it was super distracting and made it hard to concentrate. At the same time, I think the tiny shooting benches, (without a storage shelf), confined space behind the shooting lanes, and the low ceilings didnt help. I didnt experience these issues at Reeds. The other that wasnt great was the target hangers. You can see in the pictures that the target hanger are suspended on a cable, and they are super susceptible to swaying side to side (even if other people are moving their targets). There were times that I felt like I had to wait a couple of minutes for the swaying to stop, or I just had to deal with it and just shoot my swaying target. I definitely think that if they had a track system, the targets would be a lot more stable.I really wanted to like Target Masters, and I might be back again if I have a late night itch to do some target practice. But otherwise, I cant see myself returning again.

I wasn’t there to shoot, but to purchase a gun and by the way they get to hold it for 11 days I don’t see an issue .. and by the way I wasn’t even smelling like it they just refuse to sell to me . everyone working there had a bad temper including the owner.. they don’t respect our right of freedom to bear arms . They choose the people they want to sell too,and They were so racist towards me .. I feel violated and discriminated.. if you don’t want to have a bad time don’t go there .. On December 21 this incident occurred and not only me but Asians men where also being discriminated and spoke with no respect.. I was there with my friends tonight. After they had us watching the training which took us 15 minutes to complete the older guy started questioning us and we were able to give clear answers to all of his questions. My girlfriend (who came here from Europe and doesnt speak English well needed my help and I spoke to her in my own language). That looked like the guy got bothered by that and started asking even more questions. He asked us where we are from and he said that sounded weird. He said we have to be citizens to be able to shoot and he cannot help us. Even though if he let us shoot we werent going to accept that after his heavy attitude. If you are a foreign please dont go there because of their racist actions. Were going to take a legal action after this experience as well. If you go on their website their requirements say we need a valid CA License which me and my girlfriend bot had one. And another thing is when I asked him for his name he wouldnt tell us because he knew what hes done probably. I will never accept such a racist action no matter what. You guys have to learn to respect other peoples ethnicity since no ones get to chose where to born. See you at the court!

I went on 2/19/17 and it was a crowded day with a long line for presidents day weekend. I had a longer wait than expected because the fact that there is a sign-in sheet is a bit pervasive to someone that is new to the place. Things can be a bit confusing if you dont ask an employee there. Now after, saying those things, why do I still feel it was a 5 star experience? Id have to say it is because the level of customer service they have at the store, given the employees constantly being stormed by tons of customers, was stellar. Customer service isnt a one-sided thing, it takes excellence from the employees and it takes patience, the willingness to ask questions, and the receptiveness to good customer service from the customer. Andrew, the gentleman who helped me with my partys gun rental, was awesome, highly knowledgeable, and demonstrated good patience when dealing with us newbies. Absolutely look forward to coming again, maybe not for the lines and the slight lack of parking space, but basically everything else was great.

Funny that some people dont realize that in order to possess firearms in the United States, you have to be either a) an American citizen; b) an American national; c) a permanent resident; d) admitted by visa waiver program; e) admitted by a non-immigrant visa AND have a valid hunting license. If youre neither, it makes you a prohibited person and its illegal to even sell you ammo. See U.S. v. Moussaoui court decision. Holding a gun for a minute while being on non-immigrant visa without a hunting license equals felony.Target Masters has many problems but asking for a legal presence before renting and therefore saving you from a felony conviction is not a problem.Speaking of problems.1. No real RSOs on duty. Ive seen people shooting off target hangers and all that was done: the lane is closed for the night. At the same time, when there are not many people inside (thats when you should be going to TM), bored employees will talk to you and complain about your 2 inch groupings 8 inches below the hanger and how its unsafe. You know what else is unsafe? Idiots shooting shotguns and hitting anything but what they aim for. Assuming they are aiming.2. Overall state of disrepair. I know its probably asking too much, given its Bay Area, but Ive been to ranges from Florida to California, and Target Masters West looked the worst of them all. I know its hard to complain given the amount of broad-side-of-the-barn-precision shooters frequenting the place, as everything that you upgrade will be destroyed anyway. And Im not really surprised its closed for lead abatement. But if you ask for lead abatement references online after being closed and youre a gun range, you really did something wrong.3. Clientele. I mean, everyone has to start. Everyone makes rookie mistakes. But TM is notorious for having tons of inexperienced shooters who never heard of The Three Rules (or Four Rules depending on which Gun Safety Gospel youre adhering at the moment). Ive seen people shown the door when they couldnt demonstrate the safe handling in Jackson Arms (RIP) and Reeds. TM allows everyone in. And that 10 minute video doesnt really help. People are too stupid to remember whats in it anyway when theres a sudden opportunity for a selfie. It could be a pro for you but its a definite con for me.4. Dont even try to buy something there. It will take literally hours to complete, youll fill every possible piece of paperwork and then wait one extra day before the firearm is released because of their policy. There are three better places in Fremont and Milpitas and you should go there if you want any transfer done. Youll be in and out in 30 minutes.5. FUD. Who else will tell you that having loaded mags in the same container is a misdemeanor except Target Masters employees? Hint: its not. People v Clark clarified whats loaded in 1995, get with the times. But Id hate to see it go. There are some good things:1. Its relatively cheap. Probably the cheapest range around Bay Area. No stupid limits like GFOS. Then, you shouldnt go to GFOS anyway.2. Late hours are great. When you work til 6, get to the range at 7, and have to leave at 8, thats not much fun. TM gets really empty after 8 too.3. Unlike in Reeds, your brass is yours.I really hope they solve the lead problem and start kicking idiots out. With 2 Bay Area ranges gone in the last 3 years, we need every remaining one to stay. Weekday night options are already extremely limited.

This place seems to accept profiling and racism from thier employees. Apparently, after reading thier reviews, MANY CUSTOMERS have had the same experience. I think the guys name is Randy, older guy with a beard always behind the gun checkout counter. Whatever his name is, it appalling to see how he treats the different races that come in. Be prepared to be hassled, condescended, and even insulted if hes your associate AND youre NOT WHITE. I walking in to check the gun selection the other day, I was there about 20 min. As I watched his interactions, I watched a group of white teens come in. Based on the reactions and responses in the group, it was clear that most of them had never handled a weapon, nonetheless, he politely helped them fill out the paperwork, even joking with the teens at times. 5 min later, a black man come in to the store looking to rent a gun and a lane... and the tone was completelydifferent. The guy didnt pwn guns but had shot before, this was Randys chance to question him to the 5th degree. Needless to say, he was very rude and abrupt with the customer, and in the end made him watch the safety video. Good for safety, but not for fairness and equality. Please get rid of that guy, he gives your place a bad name and reputation... to certain people.. if you even care about us.

All these claims of racism are funny. The old white guy was rude to me too. And Im white. He was rude to everyone, however nobody said anything to him except me. Then when he was spoken back to, he was like OH OKAY. So i think the racist comments can be toned down to just a grumpy rude person who is never confronted by complaining customers. Nevertheless Targetmasters needs to get more organized. All the typed signs from word are ghetto looking. I am sure they are tired of being compared to Reeds but Reeds is doing something Targetmasters isnt. What? I dont know. The lanes are old and run down as well and the ventilation could be much better. Apparently EVERY TIME you go shooting there now, you have to fill out a form. That is fine, but Targetmasters, have the list and forms NEXT to eachother that way we can fill them out while waiting instead of when we are called and then forced to wait longer because we didnt know about a form. I understand they are looking for help and I hope they get some soon. Targetmasters has great potential! However they arent living up to their fullest at the moment.EDIT: To those complaining they werent allowed to shoot for being undocumented even though CA gives you a drivers license...it IS a law and not worth ANY business owner losing their livelihood over. If another range did it, go back to that one. Take it up with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations).

Im actually citizen but I dont have to carry my passport with me at all or I dont need to provide my SSN with anyone just for shooting at shooting range. As I mention earlier; he was just been racist and directly asking where I am from, what do I for living, when did I come to country.i just went there with couple of friends and I didnt know I would have this kind of experience at all. My experience on 3/31/18 at Target master’s was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had . I consider myself as a recreational shooter and I’ve been around for 10+ years. I’ve completed in USPSA and 3gun events, so I’ve been around . This shop isn’t a good representation of the firearm community. Having a very unprofessional owner, yelling and blaming sales issues on customers and PPT. They seem to be understaffed and we ( the customers) had to hear about time and how he’s 30 minutes late for an interview. After waiting in line for 20 mins then getting blamed for the shops problems 3/5 customers walked out ....as the shop’s owner yelling “ it’s my shop and I can do what I want “!!!!. I took my business to red skull Tactical which is 10 mins away . I told the guy I drove 7 hours ( from humboldt) to do a PPT, the owner of target master shut me down like I was trash . Anytime ... we did the PPT, brought a $1,000 dollar rifle and 100+ bucks in accessories. So to Red Skull Tactical thank you, you’re a good representation of the firearm Community.... Target Master I’m sorry but you’re the reason why we’re having a hard time educating people about firearms... the horrible customer service then was very rude and disrespectful we’re gonna lose this battle..... THIS WAS MY EXPERIENCE NOT YOURS ..... you’re might be different

I asked why and told him I am trying to compare 2 firearms and want to buy one of them. He replies and tells me that we are not selling guns today, we are understaffed. I asked him if he was joking as I looked around and noticed several employees, and while it was busy it wasnt overwhelming by any means. I asked when I might be able to make a purchase and he tells me to come back tomorrow, are you kidding me? I dont live in the area and have work tomorrow so thanks for nothing. Ive been a patron at Targetmasters since 1985. Today I attempted to buy a cz pistol. Upon inspection I notice a bubble like blemish on the poly coat. It was about the size of a match head. I asked the new store manager if they had another pistol? He proceeded to tell me, we have to sell what is in the display case. I said, in the past they would get another gun from the back if I was not happy with the gun I was trying to buy. He then said what was wrong with this defect anyway? it will not interfere with the function of the gun? I thought, if this was a brand new car and it had a bubble in paint and that would be acceptable? What was I complaining about? This is what the store manager was implying. I understand that this is not a car, but it still a large purchase. I was very disappointed because I liked Targetmasters. I would visit at least once a week. I would also tell my family and friends about their great prices and large inventory. This is the place to go to buy a gun. Unfortunately, the store has gone down hill with their customer service. Most of their well liked and experienced people have left. I will miss Targetmasters, because from now on, I will take my business else where.

Last purchase I made was for what some online retailers are charging. They do not have salespeople to help you decide so discussing the features of firearms and answering questions is not what the clerks are there to do. Use their indoor firing range to narrow your choices and see if they are selling it in-house.

This was the first indoor range I’ve ever been to and the lady that assisted me and my husband was extremely rude. She was stuck up and not helpful... Maybe she was just having a bad day but it was not a great first experience.

First time I went seemed decent second time brought g/f to take test and buy her a gun for her bday. about 2:30, took 30 min to get noticed another 30 to get the test 15 for test after 25 min g/f was getting impatient and yelled to anyone that would listen when they would be able to grade it and some skinny scraggly girl rudely hollered well get it when we can were busy right now ok, g/f tired and hungry asked me to pick her weapons, I have several and know what she likes so I while we waited another 40 min of process which included her filling out the paperwork I grabbed the chunky Hawaiian maybe to get the guns so we could pay and get the hell out of there. Well the little blond girl must have heard us griping about the service because then she makes an issue of me picking her guns made us wait another 20 and sent us packing refusing to sell to us. Said because me g/f didnt know the 9mm was a Springfield or s&w whatever I prefer glock anyway. If I go back it will early in the day. before noon

I got charged twice because their employee Paul took out my chip card while it was processing and ran it two more times and was denied so I logged on to my account on my phone while there to show them it was processed and they had no idea what to do. I get a rude call Monday by them telling me to pay my open statement because they didnt recieve any payment. It was an error on their behalf and are wanting me to pay twice for it, so warning I would pay with cash if you have a chip on your card or just avoid this place in general.

Horrible customer service. if buying a gun I would recommend Sportsmens supply they are very knowledgeable and friendly not the largest selection but great prices and they will order you whatever you want. Or bass pro shop basically go anywhere but target masters/Milpitas shooting range. The staff have a know it all attitude and one of their employees even had the nerve to hit on my wife right in front of me then he drops the gun I was about to buy thats when I did some research and found Sportsmens supply

The staff have been very helpful with newbie like me. The handgun inventory is minimal but they carry all the popular items (XD, SR9, Glock..). They have variety of guns at all caliber for rent and the staff took time to provide basic gun handling and safety tips...

Cant complain the cheap price for shooting a whole bunch. The service was just meh. some guy are really nice some are just obnoxious.I have been to many ranges and this one is the only one that ask my visa number (for non-citizen or greencard holder. is this becuz of the Trumps BS?). Was told its a state law but I highly doubt about that. Overall, I spent more than an hour just to get in my line to start shooting. They give beginners a starter video. after that, the guy there will ask some basic stuff about it. I watched it cuz the other guy I brought was a first-timer. Which I should totally not wasting time here.Options are limited, and they are quite serious on safety. If you are renting their firearms, you cant bring in multiple. Its kinda irritating to always get in and out of the indoor range just swapping stuff. Also you have to purchase the whole box of ammo. like more than 30 rounds. I wish they have like bundle deals like trying 4-6 different guns with 10-20 rounds for a price. some ranges offer it some dont. you cant complain that. However, if you have your own guns and stuff you just want to go there and shoot, Id say this is a great place. It takes like a minute to check in and start in a not so busy hour. There is a big problem I noticed was that each lane is so narrow. the shell would totally bounce off the divider and drop some where near you. big chance to drop on your bare forearm or your party member behind you.For rookie beginners, go somewhere else. this place is just too obnoxious for people whos not familiar with guns.

I bought a gun there and paid cash for it. Because of some new law eleven days later they werent able to let me have the gun. They told me because of store policy they couldnt pay me back in cash and it would have to be a check. Then they told me they dont have any checks. Ive been calling everyday for a week and still havent gotten my money back.

They told ppl M1A is considered assault weapon. They clearly dont know what they are talking abt. And they dont sell any semi-auto rifle that shoot bigger than .22LR with a pistol grip. No ak no ar style. No balls gun store. One time I needed some .308 FMJ. I waited 45 mins, filled out paper work just for 4 boxes. And I got yelled at for someone didnt open the double door one at a time, I wasnt even shooting. Wth.

Poor ventilation, dirty, staff is hit and miss depending on when you go. Wide range of shooters from the dangerous and stupid to super smart and everything in between. Not the kind of range that you would get excited about going to. If its an indoor range your looking for in this gun hating state or county then this is about your only option.
