Best chocolate I have ever had--especially the mint meltaways! I buy extra to give as gifts. I love shopping here! The owner is a great guy and I enjoy talking to him. The people I have gifted with Northern Chocolates now ask me to pick up more for them when I shop there! No other chocolate will do now that I have had chocolate from Northern Chocolate!

The chocolate my husband got me from here was Fabulous!!! The manner in which he was treated was deplorable. He had been working as a handyman and was not the most presentable, dusty and paint spattered. As such he and his friend were treated as second class citizens. They checked with each other to be sure one was not just getting a wrong impression. That is just not acceptable in a retail establishment. And btw we are entirely gay friendly and my husband does a lot of local theater. Say no more. Your chocolate may be amazing but there are certainly other amazing chocolatiers in town. Good bye sweet treat!

You can tell Jim loves chocolate. Otherwise he couldnt make it this delicious. It melts in your mouth cleanly. No film, no residue. The only remnant is the fragrant scent of pure ecstasy. Worldwide, Ive never had better.

Best chocolate mints in town! If you want a unique shopping experience check him out. My advice is follow all his rules, take your shoes off, and be nice otherwise he will throw you out. I would leave your kids in the car.

Owner is nice fella, a Sherlock fan for sure. Good price on everyday chocolates in all shapes and sizes. You wont find anything fancy here, just chocolate and nuts in different arrangements.

Best dark chocolate mint meltaways in the world. I once brought a box as a hostess gift to a coworker in CT who let me stay at her house and she & her hubby devoured an entire one pound box in 2 days. Guess what I sent her for a retirement gift? Jim scary? Hardly. Just eccentric and unconventional. He knows what hes doing and produces an excellent product. He says what he thinks and that can intimidate people who are used to living life within their own set of rigid rules. I find Jim refreshing and entertaining and take the opportunity to converse with him as long as I can keep his attention before HE starts walking ME to the door. His shop is in a historic building, a museum of vintage chocolate memorabilia in a store of days gone by. Frango Mints? Taste like 90% wax, I cannot even eat them and are not in the same solar system as Jims dark chocolate mints (nothing against Macys in general). Some things are worth the extra drive and going outside ones comfort zone to attain - Northern Chocolate is a unique treasure that Milwaukee is fortunate to have and I hope Jim NEVER retires!

This is one of those places you have to go to and experience.The owner has really turned this shop into a show. He dances and talks and asks funny questions and gives funny answers. The chocolate comes in a million flavors and molds and is good chocolate. And yes, you have to ring the doorbell to get in.

My absolute favorite chocolates EVER! To have a positive experience: DO NOT wear fur, DO NOT talk on your cell phone and DO NOT try to pay with cc....cash only! If you remember these 3 Very Important things...your shopping experience should be fine. (only bring well behaved children in small store)Mint melt-aways...YUM! Lots of molded chocolates to choose from for gifting as well as barks etc!If you do not try these chocolates...you are missing out!A previous review mentioned owner shouting Bible verses from the back room...He definitely is NOT a Christian...most likely was just saying things like Thou Shalt Not Touch...Steal...or the like.Probably has had his share of bad experience with children in the store??Try Northern chocolates...youll love em, forgive the unusual proprietor...he needs Jesus!

We have been going to Northern Chocolate for years. Great chocolate, interesting conversations with Jim. Plan on spending a little time there choosing and talking!

I absolutely loooove this candy in its velvety, succulent chocolateness. Once you eat any piece of this candy you will never be able to enjoy any other kind. Worse than potato chips is the desire to never stop eating. I frequently get this from my children on special occasions and I try so hard to portion it out so that it lasts longer, but its a fight which I frequently lose.

This guy is one of the scariest people I have ever met. First, when we walked in, he threatened to hit my little brother with a shovel if he touched anything (he is nine). Then he went into the back room and started yelling bible verses at the top of his lungs, except he was relating all of them to chocolate. Then, when we were leaving, my brother was looking at the Alice in Wonderland chocolates, and said Look! Its Alice in Wonderland! and the guy who works there yelled at him Youre an Alice in Wonderland!. Honestly, this guy has something wrong with him. And it wasnt like, mental desease crazy, he was like *Crazy* crazy. I think the chocolate was doing something to his brain. In conclusion, I never never ever want to go back to this place ever again.

This is the best chocolate in Milwaukee. PLEASE CALL AHEAD to see if he is open. The days and times on google are incorrect. He is open most of the week and on occasion if you call ahead he will stay open a bit late to accommodate you.

Our company received the Otterly Peaceful Mints from a client......DELICIOUS!!!! They are just as good if not better than Frango mints! I cant imagine what other decadent morsels they have available at their store. :)

Best chocolate in Milwaukee, at least my favorite...the mint meltaways nut logs are incredible. A couple things to insure good service: Turn your cell phone off before entering, bring cash, patience is a virtue and arrive by bicycle!
