Looooove this place! The hummus is the best! They make your food fresh so be prepared to wait, not fast food, a good meal. Everyone is so nice. The restaurant is connected to a grocery like store. The employee is so sweet. I have yet to visit the bakery next to it. But I had some of the baked goods from there in the grocery store. Everything is delicious!
Loved This little authentic place. We orders a kabob it was made while we shopped in the grocery store. We didn’t know what all Of things items were but bought the baklava. The baklava was tastey, as was the kabob. Excited to go back and try another menu item. The kabob was about 4 dollars!! Cheap and thank you for the water!
Great selection, low prices. friendly staff. This store features a lot of hard to find food and utensils for middle eastern cooking. Plus deli/take out style counter with tables to sit and eat at.
I love this place but very sad that I havent the my Tunisia harissa anymore for years. I would spend so much money there when they sold that and make the trip. They kept saying they would get some soon but it didnt come. I havent checked the last couple months after asking for years. Please bring it back. We miss it so much.
This place has phenomenal food! I can not recommend it strongly enough.
Best food and lamb in town, very fresh. Grocery has very wide selection and refreshments. Excellent customer service.
We randomly drove by here and it looked good so we had to stop. We were so glad we did. The falafel sandwich is one of the best I’ve ever had. The hummus is perfect, so smooth. Everything tastes fresh and was also a very affordable dinner. We went next door for some sweets. I hope to return soon to check out the grocery. The best!
BEST schwarma & falafel. BEST service, the owners and staff treat you like old friends. BEST products (+clean, merchandised beautifully) BEST prices & value. I 💛 Holy Land Grocer
The kebab was grilled fresh in front of us and the hummus and falafel were delicious. However, the wait was a bit more than expected even including that and the rice was reheated in a microwave, which left it a bit dry.
Great food as always…just step up the customer service in terms of friendliness to non middle eastern customers
Based on all of the high reviews we were expecting a wonderful experience. Those other reviewers must be easily pleased. The name and website confuses the customer. The official name is Holy Land Grocery and Deli, Google Maps lists it as Holy Land Grocery and Bakery and on the company website is a section describing the Middle Eastern Restaurant. The sign on the building is Holy Land Grocery and Deli. Simply put, we went there expecting a restaurant attached to a grocery store and found a dirty little deli section tucked in the Northeast corner of the grocery store. The reviews described excellent food so my wife ordered the chicken Shawarma and I ordered the beef Shawarma. Enormous portions for $9.99 in a carryout container. As for the food, the rice bread and hummus were delicious but both the beef and chicken were dry. They threw in the bread for free. Beverages were purchased out of the grocery cooler. The deli area sits about 12-16 people. The checkerboard floor is stained - needs a real deep clean. The ceiling tiles in the deli and grocery are all mismatch or missing. The ceiling vent tiles that supply HVAC are full of dust. Theres nothing about this place that screams Please come back. So we wont.
Extremely good food for an insanely reasonable price.
My first time there. Got great service and food was excellent.
The best Arabic store in town and the best food there falafel is amazing
Delicious chicken shwarma sandwich and fries. very friendly and fast service!
This place came recommended as the best spot in Milwaukee for fresh and authentic falafel. After visiting on a Saturday afternoon, I have to say, I agree. Dine-in seating is limited but, there were only two other diners there at the same time as us and we did not have to wait for a table. The place is looks grungy, but you can always take the food to go. It is worth it! It took about 10 mins for our food to be prepared after ordering. The falafel was packed with authentic middle eastern flavors & sauces and cost $3.99. The hummus appetizer was huge – we had to take more than half of it to go. The fries were piping hot and a nice compliment to the spiciness of the chicken shawarma. We did not have to pay before eating. To pay, we went over to the checkout in the grocery side of the place and let the cashier know what we had. We even received two complimentary packets of instant cappuccino mix.
I love this place. They have delicious takeout and shelves upon shelves of Middle Eastern (and Turkish) culinary treasures. We had kebab dinners with falafel and salad, and it was wonderful! They also gave us the biggest Arabic coffee Ive ever seen; Im still feeling the buzz. :D The staff are always so friendly and welcoming. شكرا جزيلا!
This place is good for halal meat. Reasonable price. Fast service.
Not good place to go not even happy with this place
Only went to the deli, they have chicken and I believe gyro meat. Chicken is so so good. Toppings looked fresh, multiple sauces.
Delicious food from the restaurant and a nice selection and reasonable prices in the market. Get the chicken shawarma and the falafel, you wont be disappointed!
Great place and great people! I can always find what Im looking for there. It actually makes me feel like at home because of the traditional music playing in the background. And the food is great! Ive had regular sandwiches there, and my parents actually catered my engagement party from them. Was not disappointed either time. Everytime Im in Milwaukee I make it a priority to at least go there to say hi to the people.
It was fantastic a must try if you like small shops with great food!
Super fast food making and service. All homemade delicious, colorful food with so much crunch and so many scrumptious flavors. All the guys are incredibly friendly and helpful and generous. I can get fresh produce and meat and snacks and treats. Baklava is best I ever had! We drive over an hour to eat their fabulous food and so worth it!
Great food at great price. I got beef/lamb and chicken Shwarma over hummus, each $7-8. Great price, and you get a lot of food. Shwarma is made in the house, and it is delicious. You a container with hummus topped with plenty of meat, sprinkled with fresh greens and roasted almonds.Unfortunately, in the evening the meat was served cold, but it works well for a takeout. Next time i will ask to have meet separately, so i can warm it at home. There is a wait to get food ready. Their arabik coffee is spiced and tasty, and it is much smoother since it is not drip-coffee you dont get coffeine overdoze.
Friendly and helpful employees and owners. Excellent groceries and many tasty middle East dishes made to eat there or take home. Great feta cheese
Love the food here! Cheap and good quality. Greta hummus, falafel sandwiches, and Shwarma. You can see them as they cook and they wear masks when preparing the food as well.
Great food.Best value for money.
VERY DISAPPOINTED! This is what you get for $40.00!?? Barely enough to feed two people and less than visually appealing.. the taste wasnt anything special either. Wont be coming back. Lots of other places with better food at more reasonable prices.
Fresh hummus and pitas with toppings
Groceries, supplies and foods are fine quality. The restaurant provides great shawarma at a very reasonable price. Although its on disposable plates, its still wonderful. I take my friends here on a regular basis and Im always welcomed with a smile and treated with respect. Highly recommend.
Very good food and amazing customer service. My favorite store in Milwaukee...
The best Arabic store in town
Have been going here for years to buy halal meat. Store is nice n clean. Good shawarma.
Holy Land grocery is much better than many other middle eastern stores or halal groceries in the area. We found it after being exhausted by the bad service or lack of quality in the other stores. But, not so good either. It is normal to find expired products on the shelf and I am sure they are fine with that. My advice, avoid any product without a best by date on it. Also, the date must be original by the producer, not by the store itself. Recently, I bought a product and (now I see) it had a fake best by date (a sticker placed by the store owner not by the producer) and it was smelling rotten right after opening. Another usual middle eastern store with usual lack of customer service or quality standards. I can not trust them anymore like I can not trust other middle eastern stores. Muslims do not deserve that !!!
First time visitor, wont be my last! I am a vegetarian, and I love falafel, and this was by far the best falafel sandwich Ive ever had (I had them make it spicy). It doesnt look like much from outside, but the food is delicious. And generous helpings, too.
Amazing and beautiful
Love it here!!
Best Shwarma and Felafel in the area and GREAT prices!
They raised their prices significantly due to the meat shortage which is understandable. However they still have prices listed as the same on their large menu hanging above where you order. After getting to the counter with two meals I thought were 8.99 each, the man tells me prices are now 12.99. I asked them why they haven’t changed their menu boards and the man at the register points to a tiny posted note sized sign on the bottom corner of a glass gaurd and says “it says it there.” You got to be kidding me, you expect people to focus their attention on a 3 inch hand written piece of paper barely visible prior to ordering? Of course people are going to look at the main menu before placing their order. At the very least you should have the man taking orders informing you of the change.I guess you just have to learn from experience. I’ll be going to Al Yousef from here on out.
Nice and very welcoming family store. Prices and quality are great.
Perfect store
The food is amazing, its a huge plate of deliciousness. They have excellent customer service, and are very respectful.
Delicious food. This is not just a grocery store but has an amazing restaurant inside it. The young man who helped us today was great. He went out of his way to help us even going as far as to stop eating his own meal to help us. Great service awesome food reasonably prices. It is worth trying you will thank me cause it is never a disappointment. Have gone there several times and keeps getting better.
This store is descent. I find most of things that I look for at this middle eastern grocery store (fresh halal meat, imported goodies from the middle east, deli, sweets...). The store is very clean, neat, well organized and its located in a nice neighborhood. The staff usually friendly but sometimes can be rude by not giving more attention to their customers when checking out!
Great authentic middle eastern food. Like being in Israel. Staff is extremely friendly and the food is not only amazing but affordable. You can take it to go or eat in. I highly recommend this place!
Thank you all so much! I loved the gentle spirit that greeted us. I am a new and continued customer.
If Im looking for spices I go to Holy Land, they have very good Olive Oil. The food they sale there is fresh, they prepare halal food there too. I recommend the lamb specially, and the falafels very tasty!
Food is awesome, and everyone was really friendly to us. Had the shawarma and kifta kabob, both were great! Hummus was by far my favorite, the pita is super soft and fresh. A great meal overall, Ill be back for sure!
Excellent middle eastern food from their restaurant and source for groceries.
Went for halal beef and chicken.Prices are as good or better than most grocery stores. Great sirloin steaks, ground beef and whole chicken. The sirloin steaks were cut for me from a whole boneless chunk of sirloin. The ground beef looks like 85/15. The whole chicken could have been cut up for me while I waited. Ill be back again from Kenosha, WI
Awesome little Arabic store. I had the combination plate at the deli, super flavorful with the spices. Then I headed over to the sweet shop and got some baklava! Very happy customer here
The food they sale there is fresh, they prepare halal food there too. I recommend the lamb specially, very tasty!
Love this place! They have the best hummus!
Best place to buy loose tea by the pound
I highly recommend going here. They have hands down the best hummus I have ever had.
Just wow! Their staff and food is amazing! They are so kind. Their hummus is to die for!! And their sharwama is amazing! Truly authentic Palestinian food! I highly recommend them to everyone! Cannot wait to go back!
This place has the best falafels, in fact everything is authentic and scrumptious. Reasonable prices and they make the food deli style right in front of you. Excellent Tahini sauce and hummus.
Best Palestinian food I have ever had! Well done, this place is clean and so friendly! Highly recommend you give it a try!
Walking into the store I was instantly taken back home. The smell of zaatar and hummus was euphoric. When I thought it couldn’t get better, the food was incredible. Made with traditional Arabic spices, I felt like i was eating moms cooking. Not only that, but the grocery store itself was filled with goodies that are hard to find in Milwaukee. A good selection of authentic Arabic foods was a plus to the whole experience! Would recommend!
Great hummus and food from take out grill - you can eat there but I never have. They have halal meats and a bakery next door also. Ive done the big food tray-feeds more than 5 people for $50!
We need more good falafel joints around to bring all of us closer together. Just imagine what delicious gooey bakery goods can do!
Great hospitality from the clerk!!
Amazing food. very fresh. best place for arab food
My favorite place to get food in Milwaukee. Honestly. Beef shwarma, one of the best things Ive tasted. And their customer service is awesome. They are so friendly.
Hands down the best shawarma in the states! The hummus is beyond belief this is authentic as it gets! Keeping the Palestinian traditions going from the food to the sweets!!! Highly recommend giving it a try the staff is so kind and it is extremely clean!
Halal groceries and the best hummus and falafel you will ever enjoy
I cant speak to the grocery part of the place (I dont cook) however, the deli/restaurant is great. The food is cooked fresh and there are a few tables where you can eat it or do take out. This is all middle eastern fare. Parking is easy and everything is handicap accessible.
Holy Land Grocery Store has numerous of bounced checks with our company. Their owner Ali has been making empty promises for months now that he will be making a payment but never does. Shameful way of doing business.
Deli is amazing! Service is always good. Wish we had a holy land in California, we always visit when were in town. Great food
The review is specific to the meat shop.A friend recommended and I tried this shop few times. Its good, but a couple of times it didnt turn out good. Once I asked to replace a piece of chicken the staff was trying to give, he said he would change but when I checked at home, I got the same bad piece I was trying to avoid.A suggestion - pay your tip in advance to the butcher.
Pretty amazing
This place is the best. ❤❤❤ The people are so nice and the food is absolutely wonderful. This time, I ordered Chicken Tawook and the flavors were just amazing. The falafel here is my personal favorite. It was my pleasure to discover this lovely store on Easter Sunday 5 years ago. Whether you are shopping for Halal, middle eastern treats or simply looking to go out for lunch or dinner, the people at Holy Land will treat you right.
I get the hummus at the deli and buy bread to dip it in at the back of the store. Yummy!
This grocery and restaurant is amazing! Their falafel and hummus are wonderful. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves middle eastern food.
Best place ever ... Found everything i need.. Good customer service... Loved the food ... You should go and try it
Good place! Arabic store and kitchen. You can find here fresh meat (halal). You can eat here or take to go . Small streets have 8 tons weight limit .
Everything is great about this place. I love the food especially the schwarma. Always delicious. Employees here are so friendly
Excellent shop with all your needs- the brother who owns it is a humble man who is willing to go out of his way to help you.
The food is great. Cheap, prepared fresh and healthy.
I bought juice from here 4 months ago and it was expired. I went back this week to get Zabihah chicken nuggets. It’s March, they expire 7/17/19. This is a health code violation and they need to throw away expired food. I’m really disappointed
I would like to thank everyone at Holly land for creating a space that feels like home, plus the falafel is amazing you might have missed Holly land but like the name says as you walk through the door you will realize that you have reached the holy Land.
Excellent food, amazingly good pita bread, falafel, and shawarma. Very friendly staff, and a well stocked grocery! Fairly priced and HUUUGE portions!
Wow! Authentic Palestinian Food! You must try there fafalfel and sharwarem! To die for! The staff was so kind and everything was clean. I ate a piece of Knafa as well and it is now my all time favorite! I will highly recommend them! Cannot wait to come back!
This is a great store! I wish I lived within 600 miles of it, but Ill visit anytime Im in town.
Amazing place to get Arabic authentic foods and best service you can get in Milwaukee.
My goto place to buy Chicken. I used to get goat meat too but its frozen and most of the times does not taste good. And chicken shawarma tastes good and found it lot cheaper than other places. I prefer not to buy other groceries as I found some noodle packets expired months ago. Spices are still ok but not sweets, noodles etc.
Excellent flavor for all items tried. Very familiar with middle eastern cuisine in mke, this is some of the best tasting I have had. Ordered thru grub hub, fast delivery.
Great place for middle eastern food and groceries. Nice little restaurant. Highly recommended!
Going here since I moved to Milwaukee in 2015. Recently they opened Holyland sweets which is awesome!! Love their stuff..
They sell expired groceries. It’s not like it’s a few months expired, products would be expired for 1-2 years. So disgusting
My friends and I LOVE this little grocery store. As another reviewer mentioned, they have great felafel. They also have a small bakery next to the front counter with many kinds of mamoul and different breads that are made locally. The place is small but packed with many Mideast delicacies. And the people who run the place are friendly and awesome.
Always great service and selection and best place for international foods in the Milwaukee area and great food in their restaurant and the sweets next door are awesome too place has it all
Customer service was excellent. Food was marvelous and tasty. Will be going again soon.
Arabic grocery where you can find every thing you need and they have sweets which are delicious
This places has the best halal chickens in Milwaukee! I buy a dozen chickens from them every month, and I have always been satisfied. They also have a small restaurant that offers delicious food!
Excellent arabic grocery store, the sweet next door made fresh daily
Peaceful Clean and welcoming. The food and service was impeccable.
