I would like to know what is going on there?I have been shopping there for over 10 years.Lately every time I go in I have a new bad experience.Today I went to the service desk and stood in line. A man was being helped. I was next in line. When it was my turn. The girl said I’m closed. I asked her a question about was there another way to get help. And she just said she’s closed.Last week I went to the deli to get ham salad. The girl in the Next department said you’ll have to come back that no one is here they did not show up for their shift. I shopped and came back in about 15 minutes and she said the same thing. I asked if she could get me ham salad she said OK she slapped it into a container and almost threw it at me.I’m sick of this place! Where is the customer service. Everyone seems angry.

I hate this store. There is usually only 1 regular checkout open; you can use the self checkouts, but the wait is 10 customers deep. The store is filthy especially the entry vestibule. The only redeeming feature this store has is the pharmacy. Jacob (pharmacist) is great for any questions you may have. It feels like a small town pharmacy where the pharmacist actually knows you. Snowie and Nate (technicians) are very nice as well. That is the only reason why this store managed 2 stars instead of 1.

They have removed shopping baskets. What a terrible decision. This is a small store that is now clogged to the teeth with carts. The shopping experience just got exponentially worse. Do not go here unless you are in need a cart load, otherwise youll be carrying your groceries around in your hands. It is impossible to navigate if more than ten people are there. Carts blocking aisles. Carts blocking shelves.I have been going here for small stops multiple times a week for years, because it was so convenient. That is no longer true. Some consultant told them if they had only carts shoppers would get 1 more item per trip, so now I have to find a new place to shop.Just terrible, horrible.

Mens room stall door was broken for over a year, allowing people to walk in on you during your business, employees are pointing whispering and laughing out loud at the customers clothing/appearance, security officers are COMPLETELY useless, homeless people who reek of urine are sleeping in the STARBUCKS seating area, self checkout can almost never accept cash, lines for checkout are often up to 25 people deep (which is now starting to cause arguments and nearly physical fights among patrons), and on and on . . . . . . Checkout gal Rachel is the best thing about this store, always cheery and friendly. PLEASE CLEAN THIS PLACE UP AND HIRE MORE RESPECTFUL ADULTS!!!

I would like to give a huge shout out to Tim at the Metro Market in downtown Milwaukee, at 1123 N Van Buren St. This was my first experience at this store as I live out of state. Tim was very friendly, helpful, and informative as I was shopping and ready to check out. He made me aware of the fact that Metro Market was under the Kroger group, which saved me money. I have been in customer service my entire life and am always appreciative of others that enjoy their job and deliver great customer service. I hope Tim is recognized for making my experience so great today. I look forward to my next visit when I am in town. In addition to Tims excellence, I was impressed by everything Metro Market had to offer in a downtown location.

This place is barely functioning right now. Theyre so understaffed they barely have any checkout lines open, so sometimes the line wraps throughout the whole store. Even the self checkout takes forever. They have one entrance and exit open most of the time so for how busy this place is you get a log jam at the entrance frequently. They also cant keep anything stocked and the place looks filthy.Beyond those issues its just a Pick N Save. They dont have a great selection of items, the produce is low quality and somehow its still not less expensive than other places. If it wasnt for the very convenient location I would never go here.

They are consistently out of stock of items I need (soda, produce, etc). The checkout lines are never properly staffed even though there are staff members all over the store. There are never enough carts or baskets ready for shoppers. The security guards are more friendly than the actual staff. I live across the street and only stop here when absolutely necessary anymore. Worst customer service of my life (coming from someone who has worked in customer service and sales for 15 years)I purchased over two hundred dollars of groceries after getting off of work on 5/21/2021. (Around 7:30 pm)Upon arriving home I realized the bagger forgot to put my 90% lean ground beef that I purchased as well as the 2 packages of hot Italian sausage I paid for in my cart after bagging.I promptly called the store to inform the staff and surprisingly the cashier who had checked me out happened to to be the one who answered the phone. (Long story short we chatted joking about how it was both our faults for the misunderstanding and she told me “please just come into the store and you can get those 3 items since you’ve already paid for them”I have recently moved and no longer live by the store, but I work by it so I waited until the day after to go into the store, again after work. When I arrived at the store today, May 23rd, the customer service attendant didn’t hNe any information on my “issue” and went over my receipt about 3-5 times before asking me what date we were here. Thinking I brought the wrong receipt I checked it and pointed out the items, she checked her clip board (I presume she found the notes) and said “to ahead and get your items”.I walked through the store a second time to locate my items and brought them to the service desk where the attendant told me that she “wouldn’t authorize the sausage because it wasn’t on the notepad she has and she didn’t know about it”.. frustrated, but still polite I said I would just pay for them again. I then handed her the ground beef.Upon seeing the ground beef she stated that there was a 60 cent price difference, which was true. I explained that there were no other 90% lean packages and this was the only one closest in price to the item. She then said “it’s not the same price” ...At this point I became beyond frustrated for the following.1. It was not my mistake your bagger didn’t put my groceries in my cart when that is the job you pay them to do.2. I waited 2 days to get groceries I had ALREADY paid for3. I was denied product that I had already purchased even after a separate employee told me what I already knew, which was that I was entitled to the items I paid for.My family would shop here weekly and spend at least 150-200 each visit. Since I still work in the neighborhood I will be vehemently encouraging people in this neighborhood to shop at a place that genuinely values their customers.

This store is super understaffed given that this is probably the busiest grocery store in Milwaukee. There are never carts or baskets when you walk in so I always end up bringing one in from the parking lot or walking to the cash registers and grabbing a used basket. We have noticed that the cleaning/disinfecting efforts at this Metro Market have gone downhill. No one, at least today, was cleaning the self check out areas after each customer like they used to. Two of the four (the other two were being used) were smudged and had debris on the scanning area, yet one of the two young ladies who were busy talking to each other, after being questioned said yes, they were being cleaned. We checked out on the other side of the store. It was fine over there. Not good, especially with the flu season starting up again. Out of the three stores we go to, this one is the worse.

Theyve started charging for cash-back too, which feels like a scam. Not an enjoyable place to shop.

This is a great market despite all previous negative reviews. It’s true that they use a lot of plastic containers for salads, fruits, and pastries that are completely unnecessary, but other than that there’s plenty of variety in the fresh food section, good deals throughout the week and especially on the weekends, and plenty of parking spaces for those who don’t live in downtown. There’s also daily fresh “homemade” (in-store) meals, soups, and even sushi at nice affordable prices. Great place to have in downtown together with the Pick n Save a couple of blocks north on the same street.

With the exception of Rachel the cashier, and Jacob the Pharmacist, the store has gone way downhill. And I cant even get in Rachels line because they specifically force you to wait and wait in the self service. When you call for assistance in the self service line and the button says Help is on the way I recommend packing a lunch, as it will take forever for someone to crabbily acknowledge you exist. All the other cashiers are indifferent and frequently rude. I used to do all of my shopping here now I only buy a few items here and there, and shop elsewhere for the bulk of my weekly shopping. The scanners frequently scan the wrong price- always in the stores favor. I wonder how many people dont catch it. And I wonder if thats by design. And dont get me started on their suppliers- Private Selection frozen fruit from Peru has a funny taste to it. Albertsons ruined this once great market. As Im writing this, Ive been sitting on hold waiting to order a refill on one of the many prescriptions I purchase there. Have been on hold for 10 minutes. Maybe Walgreen wont make me wait as long. I gave this store a much higher rating pre- plague but they have seriously dropped the ball in terms of safety and precautions.Staff use of masks is hit or miss, its usually more consistent earlier in the day. Sadly, the worst offenders are the meat guys. They do offer paper towels and spray for cart use when you walk in but its DIY, Ive never seen a staff person cleaning carts, even the ones they retrieve from the parking lot and surrounding area. They recently took up all distance markers for check out and the self checkout is a free-for-all.Checkout folks usually have a mask near their faces but its a jackpot if you get one who covers both mouth and nose.I still go here because it has cheap cat food and its a quick jaunt if I need something in a hurry but dont expect friendly service or even much of an acknowledgement that youre anything but a bother. And while its not their fault, the things that made them attractive in spite of non-existent customer service now arent options (hot and cold food bar, music) leaving not much to recommend them.

Then came the drastic change in staff and not for the better. The new bunch is careless and breed laziness. No one (most shocking to us is not even PM management) budges a centimeter much less go the extra mile to provide proper customer service which far as we can see has largely gone from missing to nonexistent with the exception of Rachel who has the sole tremendous, friendly face. The customer service counter shuts down at 9 when their doors close at 11. They have been stripping minor services as well. I suggest shutting that part of the store down. Its misleading people to think anyone is there caring in this particular aspect of being a retailer. We now happily go to Pick N Save at East Point Plaza which employees and management treat people much nicer and are worthy of the $24K we spend annually on groceries and other like items.Sorry, Rachel. After a couple of years, Ive just gotten fed up with the numerous times Ive found expired food in the produce section that sits for months and is never restocked because they do not check why their inventory is not moving. Also, they never have more than 2 cashiers working the cash registers at all times and days of the week when they have at least 5, aside from the self-checkout lines, which I feel they depend on most customers using. Unfortunately, the shopping experience gets capped each time by a visit to the checkout. Im sorry to say that a big percentage of the workers in this area are scowl-y, unfriendly, and virtually unresponsive to reasonable questions. Im sure this is, in part, because because the management will only staff half of the checkouts (on a Friday afternoon, no less), leading to long lines. Tiny pathways through a bottlenecked entrance/exit door and bizzare shelf placement, blind corners everywhere, in some areas too narrow for two carts to pass. I dont do heavy shopping here-- this is more a snack/sushi stop for me (sushi is top notch for grocery store sushi) and the little food booths are quite nice, but trying to get even a small able body around the store is a slow and anxiety inducing experience and I usually end up ducking out the side door. Thats if people arent coming in, because theres only enough room in the hallway of self-checks for a person checking and a person passing them.

Arrived in the produce section to find an excessive number of flies of multiple types. They were crawling all over the fruits and vegetables. I notified two different employees. The first stated that the boss does not allow them to put out fly traps. The other shrugged at me and said, Summer problems. Just wash your food. Needless to say, I am not coming back to this grocery store.

Staying for a week and stopped in to stock our apt. Convenient and had everything we were looking for. Pricing compared to home (Virginia). Super friendly checkout.

New renovations are great. For a grocery store in the middle of the city its a pretty great gem. Lots of options, hot bar, salad bar, and fairly full selection of food items. Parking on the street level is a pain, but it goes with the territory I suppose. Also a fairly regular beggar spot so be prepared.

I used to love shopping here for the convenience factor, but the past few times Ive bought items that were either already expired or only a couple days from expiring. I shouldnt have to check every expiration date on products when shopping at an upper-scale grocer. Ive had to throw away brand new greek yougurt containers the same day..

Love the fresh veggies and fruit, but I was there last week and this morning. My complaint is about cigarettes. Everyone doesnt smoke Marlboros, or camels, or the other so called brands they have.

Favorite grocery store! Soup and salad bar along with great meat counter! Pub burgers and chicken burgers are fantastic.

This is a great place to go for groceries and other household items. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a wide selection and good prices.

The quality of service has really gone down lately. Today I asked their staff to remove skin from the salmon that I purchased and he refused because he had already wiped everything down 50 minute before closing. Terrible and rude staff.

Great grocery store, has everything you could probably need. The hot food and other desserts and such that they offer here aren’t half bad either!

This place is way too trendy and complicated for me! Who needs a two story grocery store! With chandeliers?! Come on. It is great that they have a wide variety of products. I havent been here much, but it seems like they could have some things that are hard to find elsewhere. But from I have seen, it is over-priced! It is definitely more here than other nearby places. Plus, it is always crowded and noisy! Safe your money and your sanity and go somewhere less fashion-forward and more down-to-earth instead!

Woof. Ive gone to Metro Mart and more than half my experiences have just been terrible. The night staff made me feel bad for trying to wait at the help desk for returns because it was after hours and in the day I felt ridiculed by the staff because I couldnt return my item. I was wrong both times but I didnt need to be made to feel bad about it. The self check out service is the most atrocious Ive seen anywhere. The company pushes its use wherever it can as well. I wish theyd actually get some decent machines then! The ramen bar has been unstocked each time Ive checked as well. Worst of all, we went for the Monday night deals and the bartender (at the in house bar, cool) ignored us for 15 mins, other employees got weirdly casual and did make up next to us while ignoring us too, and then the bartender got into fights with the other patrons after being aggressive with them. Honestly, prices are pretty cool especially on deal nights but this place is ramshackle. I dont have many other options though. Thats the worst part.
