RATING UPGRADE ⭐⭐⭐⭐UPDATE: We have now used this repair shop twice recently and I am impressed with their turnaround time. In the interim between my first review and this update, Ive learned that even though theyre open 3 days per week and only 4 hours on each of those days, the bike mechanic only works on Sundays. That said, however, he must be very good -and fast- because we were able to pick up the bike both times on the Sunday following drop-off.********************************Great repair job and decent prices. BUT they are only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12p-4p, which is neither convenient or conventional.
Amazing bike shop! We have been here several times but our most recent visit was truly a unique experience. I ended up purchasing a BMX bike for my son and they’re holding it until Christmas. He offered so many ways to get a hold of him if the shop was closed AND the best part is the sweet pittie who came to greet us!
Nestled very quietly in Milwaukie Village is sanctuary for those pursuing a simpler, kinder time. In this case, The Missing Link providing personalized care and attention to you and your bike with answers to questions in lay language and lay-friendly terms; creative and economical problem-solving to maintenance issues; and high-quality attention to basic contract services. If you want zooming, five-figure bikes to drool at [which I do sometimes too], a latte machine, and high-pressured sales atmosphere [which I never do], then The Missing Link in Milwaukie is not for you. If you want to care for your current bike and keep it running forever - or want to find an addition to your family stable of two-wheelers that will get you smoothly from here-to-there, take the Orange Line to Main Street in Milwaukie. Youll be happy you did. I was.
Neat little bike shop.
Love this shop! Fair prices and great attitudes all around!
High level of service and committed to getting it right. Appreciate Libby and James going the extra mile to help me out.
UPDATE: Good quick on the spot service recovery done by Steve - he always does a great job. Fortunately it was a fairly simple fix. Back up to 4 stars. (Previous post: poor tune up, and closing early! Recently my wife got her bike back after a basic tune-up. When I checked it out, I was shocked at how terrible both wheels were, esp the back. Im not sure what they did, but they could hardly even spin! Really inconsistent service here, maybe it depends on who works on the bike. When I tried to return it shortly BEFORE 6pm, the place was closed of course, and the guy inside refused to open up to take the bike they just serviced. Poor bike service? Poor customer service? Closing early? 3 strikes and youre out.To be fair and open, Before today, I gave this place 5 stars. Steve is (still) great, very helpful, and I appreciate his quick service on multiple occasions. Who knows, maybe after some good service recovery my review will go up to 4 or 5 stars. Stay tuned.
Friendly, quick, affordable.
Very dissappointed with this shop. Took my recumbent bike in this Saturday to have the seat, chain and rear deraileur installed and adjusted. Staff charged me $70, didnt offer to adjust anything to fit me, and of course, when I got it home I couldnt even reach the pedals. Here I am, wasted $$ and having to take the darn seat off again trying to get adjusted correctly so I can ride the bike. Will never go back there again.
Very friendly knowledgeable owner and friendly dog. Talked about new gravel bike that I hope to own in the next few months. All they have are great bikes. I look forward to buying my first gravel bike from them in the future.
Garbage customer service, information presented in the most unhelpful of ways, “too good for you” attitude. We live blocks away and refuse to even buy tubes from them.
This is my emergency shop. They do accurate work in a timely fashion and and are friendly. The closest Ill come to giving my $ to a chain store.
So glad I found the missing link!Grammas bike had a bent rim and I was hoping it could be fixed without replacing...Turned out a broken spoke was only $37 total to fix and true the wheel... grammas back on the road!! Thanks so much!!
Nice place in the neighborhood and helpful, but when I show up to days in a row during business hours and theres a note in the window saying, be back at x oclock it makes me think that next time Ill just got a little further to the next bike shop.
KID FRIENDLY - We found our familys bike shop! Warm, knowledgeable, patient, and good to my FOUR small kids that were loafing around touching everything.
First and last time visiting the missing link in downtown Milwaukee. Like some of the other reviews have said I got up to the store after a quick googling says this is the closest bike store near me. Was greeted by the will be back at X:XX oclock sign that was already sharpied on twice. Was not welcomed or really acknowledged when he came back but hey thats alright I tell myself maybe hes a wiz at bikes instead of people, I ignored it. After taking my bike in for a time up, because its a P.O.S. right off the rack roadmaster, he tells me he can do both derailleurs for 18$ each i tell him ok. The bearded man gets to work all the wile telling me (basically) my bike is garbage, and he starts fiddling with other things that are not the derailleurs but I figure maybe hes hooking me up since I told him I dont know much about bike repair and this is my first bike since I was a teen. The bearded man finishes up and we started ringing up the work hes done, he charges me for this and that and all manner of things coming up to to 15$ more than what we had previously talked about but he reasures me that he could charge me more but wont, thankss.... now im use to this from my mechanic for my car but I rode in that day on my bike and I could have rode out, all the extra work he did was unnecessary and to do unrequested, unnecessary work and charge more than previously discussed and to then make it seem like YOUR giving ME a hookup, it felt downright predatory, to top it all off after leaving my bike doesnt want to change to the low gear in front, not even gonna take it back there, this is my first adult bike and I will find another bike shop that will treat me right, your not the only game in town. Good luck bearded man, hope your friend doesnt ever fire you and you stay right there in that shop.
Nice little bike shop on main street Milwaukie. No nonsense staff and equipment.
What’s missing is kindness to a mom and kids. The guy with the beard clearly didn’t want us there bc my little ones were playing with the KIDS bells and when he took those away they wanted to touch other things. I walked out and won’t ever go back. I’ll just go to Sellwood where they have toys to occupy little hands so I can spend my money.
Awesome service and great prices
Went in today to get my wifes bike ready for summer, James was courteous, helpful, and quickly got her bike up and running. Highly recommend, great neighborhood shop for Oak Grove and Milwaukie area!
This guy with his bushy beard name steve onwas super chill very helpful didn’t have to go out of his way but he did.
Nice guy got daughters balance bike there.
This is my local bike shop- the folks there never hesitate to do what they can to get me back on two wheels. You should stop in and say hi!
Went there on Monday and the sign said closed open on Tuesday. A waste of time wont go back
Very friendly owner and a nice local bike shop. Ill be returning for sure.
I showed up at 12:05 to a sign that said Back around 12:30. At 12:50, Steve came sauntering up with a bag of food and hardly addressed me. Once I finally got in the store, he seemed annoyed by my inquiries and was unable to provide the chain part I was looking for.If you have one guy covering the store, maybe you should bring a lunch.
Great service at a local shop.
Extremely helpful and friendly.
Great service and electric bikes
The place was closed
