Oaks Bottom has provided some of the best experiences of my career. Pat is very knowledgeable and generous; a kind, patient teacher. It does not matter what your current aptitude, knowledge or skill level is, you can reach your true potential here. The fees for classes are significant but you will be hard pressed to find a greater educational value anywhere.

Great local knife shop. The owner is a fantastic guy that knows his stuff. I love the knife my wife picked-up for me, use it all the time. They also will fix any issues that come-up with the knife- just stop by or send it in. They appear to have a life-long commitment for the knives they sell.

I have purchased several knives here when visiting Portland and love them. However, last November I contacted Pat to arrange the purchase of a knife. After discussing and agreeing on particulars he asked for a downpayment, but charged the full amount. After repeated attempts to contact him I am now forced to go through the dispute process. Sad.

I started taking classes here a couple of years ago, and never really left. Disclaimer, I sorta work here now.Stop by and chat with Pat (the owner), hes always willing to talk about the forge and tell blacksmithing stories.The classes are well worth the money, and Ive taken three of them now.
