I booked an appointment to have my A/C tuned up, and Ken did a fantastic job. He was very thorough and methodical plus provided explanations about the unit. He fixed the start capacitor as a courtesy and showed me two cracked parts that he was able to tape, so they would not need to be replaced until a later date. He also explained the Maintenance Service Agreement. I took advantage of it and will definitely have my furnace checked in the fall. The invoice had a detailed listing of what was inspected and a photo of my A/C unit. Efficiency was above and beyond all other service companies I have used.

We have used Efficiency for our customer repairs during real estate transactions but this particular time it was for our own furnace. I just want to say that every time we have to used this company, we have great customer service and tons of communication. I highly recommend Efficiency Heating and Cooling.

Jim, the technician that came out (arrived early even), was great (no complaints about him at all) but wasnt really who we needed. I told the woman that scheduled the appointment that we needed someone to install a programmable thermostat (even gave her the model) but that my husband had broken the wire to it off in the wall taking the old one out so new wiring was probably going to be needed when the new thermostat was installed. Unfortunately, it seems that Jim is more of a furnace technician and couldnt help with an estimate of what new wiring would cost. He did give us an estimate for two different thermostat installations (both of which are well over what we can afford). We were told to contact the company again if we wanted someone else to come out to give us an estimate for the wiring work. I thought thats why someone was coming out in the first place. Had I known that wasnt going to happen I would have cancelled the appointment and saved $139.Three star review because they did get someone out the next day and he was very polite and friendly. Just wasnt the person that we needed sent out.

We called Efficiency H & C because the furnace had condensation coming out it in a puddle in our garage. Apparently, the AC was pumping out into the furnace but due to blockage wasn’t able to clear it and pump it back outside to the AC unit.I really appreciated that Jim charged the trip fee only. He was able to flush the clog out and didn’t charge us extra for it. He also gave us a couple of options.Option 1: We could have him put on an external valve, so if it gets clogged again we have a way oIf flushing it ourselves and saving a trip charge. [But our AC has lasted 21 years and most units last 15 to 20 yrs. only. If we ended up with a new AC we would need a new valve attached to it. The fit is so tight it wouldn’t be worth trying to prying it off w/o breaking it apart.]Option 2: We could purchase a maintenance package for updates. But due to the age of the unit...a maintenance plan would be best on a new AC system.Jim sent us estimates for both options. They were very reasonable and fair with us. When we end up purchasing a new AC unit we will have no reservations going with Efficiency Heating and Cooling for service!

Jim was lightening fast and super efficient and knowledgeable! He explained everything he did in detail and in laymens terms, so I understood. Had a little bit of an issue with shipping on a replacement part for my heat pump but they stepped up and got my AC/heating back up and working. Working with Efficiency was easy straight from the estimate to the work done at the house. We had a very old AC unit that needed to be replaced.Our estimator taught us all about our unit and how it worked with our house. He offered estimates on the spot (no one else who gave us bids did that), and gave us his contact information to ask any questions. He was great.The install team was super professional and COVID-safe. They kept us updated on their progress and walked us through everything before they left at the end of the day. Recently, we we got home from a short vacation and found our inside temp at 86! Fan ran lukewarm. Called around and got a reference to Efficiency HC from an HVAC who was too busy (imagine that! - a ref from a competitor!). Matt came 2 days later and quickly discovered a compositor problem, repaired it, checked over everything else in the system and submitted a fair bill for service. We will CALL Efficiency again, if ever needed and even consider Efficiency H & C to replace our 20+ yr old system, when needed. GOOD service, friendly, answered EVERY question with detail, fair price. Efficiency H & C deserves a 5-star reference!

Really happy with a job well done. Had an intermittent AC issue with the unit cooling happening on/off. They came out and despite the over 100 degree temps patiently worked on the unit to root cause too much Freon in the system. They spent time to let the unit run and stabilize for adjustment which took a few hours. Unit has been working great since. Will come back for future work when needed. Thx alot!

They were great! I knew that I would have a late appointment on the day after the hottest day of the year (116), but they came at 6PM having kept in touch we me for 2 hours prior. I had not had regular maintenace, and was lucky that I didnt ruin our whole HVAC. Efficiency has come to my aid more than one over the years and have always been great. We now have a regular maintenance contract with them.

In June of 2020 Jason came out and gave us a bid for an AC. We had received quotes from several other companies but they were not very responsive and most were even higher priced. We decided to wait until the following year to proceed. When I told Jason that we were going to wait he was completely understanding and very low pressure. In January of 2021 we decided to start looking into it again and called Jason back up. He remembered us and honored his quote from the previous spring. The install went very smoothly and everyone (except the electricians) were great to work with.Jumping forward to this week, we had record temps and we had the AC running 24/7. We had some concerns about it on Sunday and so I decided to call and ask them about it on Monday. Keep in mind, that Monday was the Monday that we hit 116 in Portland. I can only imagine how busy they were and I almost felt guilty calling since the AC was still pretty much working. They were extremely responsive and considerate and although they were swamped, they felt it was important to get to me that same day. Trae the technician called me, as promised, on his way to my place. I explained what had happened and that it was working at that time so he didnt have to come out if he was too busy. He said he would feel better if he came and checked to make sure and so he proceeded to come over. This was after a full day of back to back appointments and he still had more to go. Most techs Ive seen (from other companies) would have just wanted to go home at that point and since I was giving him an easy out, most would have taken it, but not Trae. He came over, was very professional and polite, and he even stood in the 116 degree full sun for 20 minutes running tests on our unit. In the end, he didnt find anything wrong but the entire experience was very impressive. He educated us more about the system and gave me his card and said to call right away if we have anymore problems or concerns. At no point did any of them make me feel like I was putting them out or asking too much and they made me feel like my familys well being was important to them.Things like this is why I chose Efficiency in the first place and why I am so glad I did. When investing that much in a product its important to feel that someone is there to help if you need it. I would recommend them without hesitation.

Ken with Efficiency Heating & Cooling was fantastic when dropping by to check on our furnace system. He was very courteous, professional and thoughtful in both his explanations and work. He mentioned that the products the previous home owner had setup were great, however, the workmanship for the furnace was not -- and I could easily see what he pointed out in the jumble of wires holding up boards and such. I just had my furnace replaced and AC added by Efficiency. They were really great and so far everything is working perfectly! Getting the quote was easy and informative, I felt like I really understood what they were going to do and what I was purchasing. They answered my call right away and gave me a window of 11-1 they showed up at 10:59. The employee that showed (Trae) up was extremely professional and got my ac fixed quick. He helped me understand what was going on and why to fix it. He also gave me some tips on what filters to use and where to get them. Over all great service!

Excellent operation. Our furnace went out in our guesthouse and we were desperate to get it repaired or replaced quickly. I called several companies with mixed results. Some never called me back. Efficiency answered my call, scheduled me promptly for a diagnosis, then scheduled me for replacement (repair wasnt an option). In two days, we had an excellent new furnace. Efficiency is the best! They have done regular maintenance our furnace twice and both times they have been super helpful and professional. I really appreciate how thoughtful they are with scheduling and safety protocols during the pandemic. Plus, they have come out to provide an estimate for a ductless system in our attic bedroom (which they coordinated to be at the same time as our furnace tune up) and Jason was beyond helpful and gave us a lot of good information. My positive experience began with office staff (Shannon) who responded almost immediately to my email inquiry, and set up an appointment the same morning of my request for service, Furthermore, she followed up with a next morning appointment with their estimator Jason, who presented two viable price options in writing before he left. The star of the show was Doug, their skilled serviceman, who had the a/c repaired and running within an hour. This is truly a five-star outfit.

This is the second time weve used Efficiency, and both experiences have been top notch. The first was a few years back, they replaced our AC unit during the triple digit summer with a new, high efficiency AC, and its been great. They didnt recommend the highest end unit for our house, and we appreciated their honesty. This time they came out to diagnose our furnace, which was blowing cold air, as well as a weird smell coming from the area. They ended up being unrelated, the smell was from the separate electrostatic filter, but Doug diagnosed and fixed both issues in under an hour and the final bill was more than fair. Its so nice having a heating/cooling company that we really feel we can trust.

Called them after having lost power for 5 days due to the big ice storm once I got power again. Furnace was short cycling and never got above 65. I knew they were going to be busy so honestly did not expect to get anyone out for a few days. Very helpful on the phone and they tried to see if they could get someone out the same day but looked booked so scheduled for the next day (still sooner than I expected). About an hour later they called back and said someone could be out that day in a couple hours, wow!. T.J. showed up and immediately knew what the issue was. Very professional and friendly. Our old Lennox furnace stopped working yesterday morning just as the temperature dipped toward 30 degrees. We called Efficiency Heating sometime after 11am and they said Trae could be there between 1pm and 3pm. He called us 15 minutes before he came - and was there on time. Careful about Covid requirements - he quickly diagnosed the problem and had the motor out and replaced in no time. Never did he say we should give it up and get a new Furnace( like the person 3 years ago did). In all sincerity, he said when you do decide to get a new one you can give me a call and we can talk about it! Very kind and Knowledgeable! We will be calling him, for sure. Now we are toasty in the snow storm!

AFTER HE CAME BACK IN I TOLD HIM THAT MY HOME IS A SIXTY NINE RANCH AND I COULD NOT STAND THE OLD HONEYWELL ORIGINAL THERMOSTAT AND DID HE HAVE ANOTHER BETTER ONE IN HIS TRUCK. HE TOLD ME MINE WAS ONE OF THE BEST THAT HONEYWELL MADE AND YOU CANT GET THEM ANY MORE. HE WANTED TO KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG AND I SAID I CANT SEE IT ANYMORE. HE OPENED IT UP AND PUT A NEW BACK LIGHT IN IT AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. I REALLY WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT I AM A SENIOR AND I HAVE HAD LOTS OF THINGS GO WRONG IN MY HOME OVER THE YEARS. I CALLED EFFICIENCY BECAUSE IT WAS RECOMMENDED BY ANOTHER AIR AND HEATING COMPANY THAT DOES NOT SERVICE MILWAUKIE ANYMORE. Jason did the most thorough quote job of the 3 companies I had out to quote a furnace replacement. Very knowledgeable and not pushy. He was also very responsive as we went back and forth on the quote and minor adjustments. Walter was the key installer and was at our house on time and stayed all day until the job was done around 7pm. The new furnace is great and I couldn’t be happier. Would definitely use again for any heating/cooling needs at our home.

There was a part needing replacement and they were able to work us in later the same day.Sep 2019:Had a great experience with Efficiency for a clog in my condo’s AC drain. They were able to send someone out same day in the height of summer. Doug was very nice, thorough, and helped me better understand how the system works. We will definitely go with Efficiency in the future, and are considering a maintenance contract with them.

We had a broken thermocouple on our water heater. We were looking at a few days to get it fixed from other places, but when I contacted Efficiency, they were able to schedule a technician the same day.Because of social distancing, we had to give the technician, Doug, specific instructions so we wouldnt have contact with him directly. He followed them to the letter, and was in and out of the house in about half an hour. We were able to shower and give our baby a bath that evening, and were very grateful to the staff at Efficiency for making that happen!

I had an AC tune up scheduled as it had been a few years since had originally had AC installed (also done by Efficiency Heating & Cooling). Walter came out on time and was very nice and professional. Put on foot coverings before entering the house, and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. Walter also reattached a heat vent that had come undone and had to crawl into a really tight space. He had a recent back injury, but he had no complaints and re-attached the vent no problem. While he was down in the crawlspace, he also helped to firm up our dryer vent with some cordage. Overall another great service from Efficiency Heating and Cooling. Very affordable and will definitely be using their services for our furnace and any repairs/maintenance in the future. Highly recommended!

When we were looking for a reliable HVAC repair service for our Mitsubishi split system during a recent heat wave, we Googled for the best service providers in the Portland area. We contacted several shops and all were booked solid. Then we tried a long shot, we contacted Efficiency Heating and Cooling (with a high customer satisfaction rating) even though they were somewhat out of our area. When I called, the person answering the phone (Shannon) was warm, friendly and definitely customer oriented. She listened to my story and though she knew we were a bit out of their normal service area, she found a way to help us out by sending a serviceman (Tray) the next day. And Tray turned out to be an excellent repairman, knowledgeable, friendly and spent some one-on-one time with us to educate us on the system we were using. He instructed us on some practical measures we could take to make the system run more efficiently and more reliably (above and beyond what we learned from the original installer, something thats rare in the repair industry).Long story short, we got our system up and running again and couldnt be happier with Efficiency HC. They are the best and I enthusiastically recommend them to anyone experiencing problems with their AC systems. Thank you Tray and Shannon for going out of your way to make us feel we mattered. You can now count us among your most satisfied customers.

The weather has turned cold and of course our gas furnace quit. I called the original installer and they were booked until December, its currently the end of October, thats not going to work. Tried another HVAC shop whats close by, they took my call but no call back. They have since reached out to me with an apology and promise to do better next time. I called Efficiency Heating and Cooling today, they answered after the first ring and I was speaking to a human. We setup a service call for between 3-5 pm later in the day, I was amazed they could come so soon The two other places had an automated answering machine, I cant stand those! Anyway I received a call alittle after noon asking if they could come by earlier, like right now! Sure I said. The service man came, diagnosed the problem quickly and replaced the waste water pump. I also opted to purchase a furnace and AC service . I was incredibly pleased with Efficiency, they are definitely my go-to HVAC service provider from now on.

Tom and Walter were a very good crew, easy to talk and work with, and took care of some real hard install issues in stride. They took the extra time for a very clean looking installed system. At this time, I sit in a nice cool house and it is 88 outside.Jason, the sales guy, took the time to discuss options of the different cooling systems and payment options, but no pressure here.Thanks guys.

Aug 2019 - One year later and everything is still great! Our first free inspection just got done and once again, Matt was very professional, arrived on time and performed the unit testing. From their automated email reminders to scheduling the inspections, this company is doing everything right.July 2018 - I needed to add an A/C unit to my HE Gas Furnace at my rental and decided to get few bids from top 5 google review companies (don’t trust Yelp since it’s fee based). Only 3 replied and out of the 3 only 2 actually showed up and I would have been very happy to have gone with either of them as both were very professional and their estimates were within 5-8% of each other. Jason, my sales rep, did a quick estimate which included all the electrical work, permits, etc. My other requirements when I contacted the 5 installers was if they could do it within two weeks or less. We met on Monday and since Jason was the last company, I made my decision that evening and went with Efficiency Heating & Cooling. Jason’s estimate was just couple of hundred dollars over but without me saying anything and with Jason knowing that I’m going with them already, he offered to match the lower estimate!!! The crew showed up on Friday morning as expected (I received prior email notices describing who they were with pictures and names ). Sub-contracted electrician also came and finished all the work and left. Everything was done in one day, no mess left behind and the house has been nice and cool during the 98 weather this weekend. Overall very professional team from Front Office communication to Jason to the installers as well as many emails and texts to keep me in the loop. My nephew is looking for an A/C & possibly upgrading his furnace and I gave him Jason’s contact. Thank you for very pleasant experience.

Don has been providing service and repair for for our heating and air conditioning system for years and we sincerely appreciate and value his work. Efficiency sends us reminders of each seasons check-up and service and we are able to ask for Dons able assistance. Scheduling has always been easy and QUICK. And the one time we had a problem, Don was there within hours of our request. He worked with me to find a speedy and cost effective solution and repair .I recommend this provider highly!

Great response time. Had exactly the parts I needed on the truck. Pleasant and professional. Explained everything in detail and even set up my new programmable thermostat while he showed me how to do it. I signed up for the spring for my AC as well. I am very happy!

I had a complicated furnace problem, and had trouble finding a company that could deal with it immediately. I called Efficiency Heating and Cooling because they were on a Top Ten list of a review site, and they sent someone out in two hours. The technician, Warren, was an impressive guy who did a great job. He worked hard at figuring it out, fixed it perfectly, and gave me a bill that was very fair and reasonable, and appeared to be based upon my best interests as a customer. I would strongly vouch for the company in general, and Warren in particular.

Doug did a very good job keeping my heat pump working until I could get it replaced by a my new furnace. Jason did a great job helping me select a new furnace for my house. Walter and Tom did a really nice job installing and getting the heat turned on. And Giselle did a wonderful job of coordinating and scheduling everything.I wil totally recommend Efficiency Heating and Cooling to my family and friends when they need repair or replacement of their heating or cooling system.

I just had the pleasure of using this service and was amazed of how wonderful the experience was. My tech was Mr. Doug Hunt. He walked me through all of the issues with my A/C -Furnace units and explained everything. He was professional and really cared about my problem. He got my system up and running and I now have A/C for the summer and heat for the winter. I am forever grateful for this caring employee. I give him 10 stars!!
