A big shout out of Thanks for Josh, Brett and John in helping me not only order all the right parts to configure a Mesh Polar Double Axel trailer to be able to be pulled behind an ATV with a 2 inch ball rather than stocked pin hitch for a Garden Tractor. The team worked to get the trailer to the Minnetonka Store, convert the coupler to accept a 2 inch ball, and assembled in time for me to take it Up North this weekend. They went far and beyond what anyone would/should expect - and I deeply appreciate it. They were fantastic. If they personified the Brand of Northern Tool - I’ll be a loyal customer going forward. Went in to drop off a weed trimmer for repair and needed to buy one for myself. Staff was helpful. The gentleman working in the Stihl tool section was VERY helpful and knowledgeable about the line. Made great recommendations and even helped me open a new credit card to save $40!

Son had truck issues and was stranded along the roadside.I was able to stop at Northern tool an Equipment and pick up a tow stap an pinned clevis shackle. We were able to not only pull (tow) him off the highway shoulder but all the way to a repair garage. They had exactly what I wanted and needed.

There is something wrong with this company. Perhaps there are insufficient staff to support its sales... the effect is that the company is unreliable. Ive been repeatedly given canned fabricated responses by the corporate customer service and the local store about the item I purchased online for delivery to this store. Ten day delivery was promised. Ive been waiting a month for the product or my money back.

Clean store. Stocked well with whatever I needed. The trailer parts dept was impressive.

On-line ordering was seamless and easy. Shipping to local store saved shipping expense, and is convenient as I shop there often anyway.

Great customer service! I came in at 5:58PM not knowing that they closed at 6PM on a Tuesday night. I desperately needed two wheels for my utility trailer. I had already been to Fleet Farm and they were out of stock. I went to the wheel isle and Northern was out of stock as well for the size I needed. A young man named Zack asked me if he could help me. I told him the size tires I needed and he said he would check in back. He came back shortly and said he couldnt find any. He said he thought there were some on the truck that had just showed up for a delivery. He said he would have to unload half the truck to get to them. I told him not to worry about it since now it was after their closing time. He said not a problem, and proceeded to unload the truck to get to the tires for me. He could have easily told me they were out of stock and sent me on my way and ended his shift. Instead he busted his hump unloading that truck to get me the tires. That kind of work ethic and customer service is rare these days! Hold on to Zack and give him a raise Northern Tool!

An excellent place to find tools and work equipment for occupational/job needs that you cant find in big box hardware stores. An example is hydraulic Jacks to lift heavy equipment.

What dont they have that you want and dont need. Helpful and knowledgeable.

To be honest I do not like Northern Tool. I almost always run in to problems when ever I deal with them. My latest miss adventure was trying to order a set of tires for a boat trailer. I found a set at a very good price and tried to place an order but of course the location near me was out of stock. I searched other stores and found a set in stock at a location about a 30 minute drive from my house and placed my order. I drove to the store and parked in one of there numbered parking spots to take advantage of curb side pick up. I called the store to let them know I was there to pick up my order and was told they would be out with my tires in a couple of minutes. 20 minutes later someone came to my car not wearing a mask and told me there was some kind of mistake and they only had one of the two tires I ordered. So in the end I wasted about two hours of my time and the gas I used getting there only to come away with nothing. I will not waste my time or money ever again at Northern Tool.

Easy to search website and order equipment

John in the part department helped me find the correct hub assembly I need for my trailer.Even gave me tips for installing. He saved me lots of time didnt even know I needed a grease gun for the job. So thanks for saving me time, because I would of had to come back for marine grease and that grease gun hhaha.

Took my snowblower to them in the fall to get ahead of the rush and paid nearly $300 to have it tuned up. Tried using it after the first snowfall and it had low power and wouldn’t keep running unless it was on partial or full choke (obviously a carburetor issue) so I took it back in so they could fix their mistakes. They told me it would take 6 weeks for them to get to it. Didn’t seem to care that it was their screw up. Won’t suggest using them for repairs. Customer service is not a priority for them I guess.

I always thought of this place as a place to get trailer parts until I got a boat. A year later, I have purchased many specialized tools like large sockets and wrenches, an oil pump, unusual oils, sealants and lubes, fuel containers, and yes, boat trailer parts.I also love their discount parts and tools bins. I have bought my college kids starter tool kits from those bins. I have a bunch of the $5 waterproof plastic ammo cases I use to hold stuff on my boat. And many more items I bought.What I have learned is that when I have a repair and need something unusual, this place is likely to have it.

Worst service and repair facility Ive ever seen. They had my 2018 Honda mower for over a month with zero communication about the repairs. Picked up my mower today and it still has the same problem. Bill, the store manager has been very helpful, however he does not have the ability to teach his mechanics how to fix a lawn mower.

Got all the things I needed and got to listen to a woman breaking up with her boyfriend over the phone while standing in line for the cashier. 5 star experience.

They have gone out of there way help me when needed.

Very good service pretty quick, and easy the cashier Gena was very helpful with what I needed. I ordered an item in store and picked it up in store hassle free. Excited to assemble my new firewood rack.

We bought a power washer for our business from NoTool and purchased the extended warranty because we need to keep it available - ESPECIALLY in the early summer season when people are asking us regularly to power wash their decks. We brought it in for repairs over 3 weeks ago and it is still not been looked at...and the repair date keeps getting pushed back every time we call! So we keep renting power washers...and soon the prime season will be over. We have probably paid many times the repair price in rentals so far...I am not sure why a business would operate like this. We sure dont! It seems like they could work longer hours, hire another person, bring someone from another store, pull someone off the floor, whatever it takes to deal with the backlog. Where is the manager? Why does he/she do nothing about this situation?Obviously, we are seriously considering taking our business elsewhere.If you do buy from them, dont get the extended warranty! It just locks you in to waiting in their long lines.....

The Northern Tool website store availability is not accurate, so I recommend to call ahead. The people there were very helpful, and even carried the item out for me while I gathered my kids and got them into the car.

Had a guy helping me on sheetrock lift. He wound up turning has back to me to talk to another employee. There was no prices on the lifts and with the employee getting distracted talking to other employees. I just left. Called later for pricing.Then went back next day to buy it since it was the only one in the area with an extension available. Then didnt talk to one employee was in the store about 30 min, and getting through the store to the register was a joke with a shopping cart. Was like a maze with stuff everywhere.

Great place, but they need MORE CASHIERS!! It takes 20 minutes to get through the line. I dread going there.

Note: This happened 2018-19 winter. Maybe things have changed.Tried to buy a carb. for a snowblower that sat for 3 years. After about 45 min of listening to the mechanic tell me hes a Briggs and Stratton specialist and I shouldnt even try installing it. I agreed to bring it in and let him install it. The price was $170 more than we agreed on and its cold blooded for 20 minutes in winter. The second time I used it after having The Specialist install a new carb, bolts fell out and the intake cover started melting. I took pictures and stopped by assuming theyd give me two little bolts. He told me to go to ACE Hardware.They have many tools, but a ridiculous mechanic.

The worst tool store in the twin cities. They do not have adequate staff to support customers. I have been there twice to purchase a chainsaw and have not been able to speak with an employee because they are on the phone or at the register. Have waited over 1/2 hour each time. On this Saturday before Christmas there were 3 employees there. 3. Will never go back.

Brought in a lawnmower that needed a tuneup but another thing made it operable. The tech was nice and wrote up the order. The quote seemed to be a little off so discussed with a manager. He figured out the issue as there were a few quoted for different parts of service. But after clarification the manager reduced the bill by taking off and exchanging the blade. So hopefully after changing a carburetor and other parts the mower may work a lot better now. Part of the issue they said is the Gas sold across the country as alcohol in it that is not good for small engines. So now trying an additive with enzymes. Whey dont the big Oil companies and processors have such and additive in the gasoline they Sell?

My hydraulic pump failed. Brought in in for a replacement. I have an extended warranty on the pump, which they push on everything, and was given a hard time to say the least. Customer service must have been out to lunch. Hire someone who doesnt think the customers are the enemy.

Champion Power Equipment sent me to Northern Tool for warranty service on a portable generator. Northern Tool had diagnosed bad gas before I even agreed to leave the machine. Rather than work with Champion under warranty they claim it was bad gas and charged me $55.00 to fix it. It wasnt fixed. Considering the same gas powers my snow blower, lawn mower and leaf blower without problem; and considering that every time I ran the generator I shut the fuel valve off to burn off the gas in the carburetor leaving no residual gas to clog it, its almost impossible for it to have been bad gas. But, of course, its easier to take five minutes to drain the gas and hold the machine hostage for $55.00 from me than the slower process of warranty service. If these people are not criminal they are certainly unethical. I would never do business with them again. One star only because I have to. They dont deserve any.

Always love wandering around the store while my gal shops at Opitz. I usually find some tool, etc. of good quality for a good price.

They had to fix a used semi-trash pump for me. I supposedly purchased it, as brand new, in the clearance section. When I went to put it I storage for the winter a flap just happened to open and you could see all the junk wrapped around the impeller! Worse yet, was the oil leak from the main seal between the motor and the pump, itself. I was flabbergasted, as mad, all at the same time! Who knows what this pump has gone through? I did get it at a discounted price, but not that much of a discount! This was a used piece of equipment, sold to me, as a new, clearanced item!I just hope it works, and doesnt go through oil like crazy, because you know, by the timeI have to use it, whatever warranty it had, will be long gone! Typical! Someone had used the pump, without a proper straining device, on the inlet hose, then returned it, just for me, to buy under the assumed clearance price tag!Last time I purchase anything from them. Who knows what they just out right back on the shelves!Thanks, fellas!I do have to give them a tiny bit of credit. They did stand behind the pitcher, had the techs go through it, and they told me it works. I can only hope, when the time comes, that is truly the case!

Went in first day of ad and they said they did not get in what I wanted to buy that was in the advertisement. They looked online at other stores and told me I would have to drive to Burnsville because most stores do not have any in stock. Wandered around the store for 30 minutes before I could find anyone to help. Have had this same problem before. If you are going to advertise something have it in stock. What poor customer service!!!
