Lovely store to play games, I came in to draft a few times and had a blast. Very friendly folk to play with, and I was able to sell back my singles for store credit to draft again the next week. Lots of tables and play space.Their espresso is quite good, fruity and not bitter at all, and they also have a small cooler of drinks and some snacks for sale as well
Always a great place to spend an afternoon playing games and sipping on a drink! Lodestone had a great variety of games (including lots of 2 player games) to choose from to play in the store. The coffee drinks are yummy as well, and they have almond and soy milk options. The dirty chai is delish and not too sweet. For games, I definitely recommend trying Patchwork and Passtally.
Great and fun place to go for a casual afternoon of coffee and games. Not a huge game secretion but enough to warrant a couple hours there. Coffee was delicious and the staff were friendly.
A great 0lace to play mtg or dnd. Great coffee/beverage shop to boot.
This is a fantastic place to bring a few friends, no matter how into board games you typically are they have great options! The pastries are delicious and well-priced, and everyone is super friendly and helpful; its definitely awesome to support a local business like this!!
Best game shop in Minnesota. I (used to) travel all over the state for magic tourneys, this place is like home to me and I consider it my lgs, even though its a 45 minute drive. The coffee, the people, the seating, the games. This is what all game shops should aspire to be.
My time here was pretty short. A very “meh” experience. Went in and it was fairly clean, a little food on the floor but otherwise organized. Wasn’t greeted by anyone, went to get coffee and a pastry. Coffee tasted like a cheaper version of nespresso and the pastry was moist on the outside and very dry once you bit into it. None of the people were that friendly, but the guy making the coffee did make some suggestions. The guy selling the magic cards wasn’t paying much attention and over charged me and gave me the wrong card.I think the environment was chill and nice if you have friends that you wanna play a board game with but sadly this shop just was not my cup of tea.
A great place to play games and have some tea or coffee. I go there for Magic the Gathering prereleases. This is one of the few places that offers two headed giant prerelease and the staff is super friendly and helpful.
We stopped in for coffee and smoothies. Will definitely be back and look forward to playing games and getting a sandwich when you return to business as usual. Really respect your decision to prioritize safety first and hope that you bounce back from the pandemic even stronger than before. Keep up the great work.
I dont drive down here too often but when I do I can always find what I want. This is probably one of the best LGSs in the entire country
Good coffee! Great play area.
Best selection of magic the gathering singles in the state. Cool owner who goes out of his way to help you get what you need.
Came here for a coffee meeting earlier and I think this would be a cool place to also do some gaming. It is very open and has some very sturdy tables. They have games for sale and I think they also have some that are already opened for people to play. They have a great coffee selection and also some food you can purchase (I dont think anything freshly made though)Wish I was still playing D&D, would be fun to kick back here for a couple hours.
Good spot to play Magic and other games. Plenty of tables. One of the most organized tournament spots in the twin cities. Games dont run late because they pay attention and move things along. This is a huge plus for weekday tournaments when you have to work the next day. Staff is friendly and they have a great selection of singles. Coffee to stay caffeinated and sandwiches when you get hungry. All around great place to play.
Gaming experience is bad when interacting with management/employees. ignore gaming suggestions for improvement. It is like they dont even want to listen to the people using the store or on their gaming website. Wont be returning.
After recently getting into board games I set out to find local game shops. While I found shops I wasnt happy with, Lodestone is the opposite, its great! The games selection is good, the play area is spacious and clean and the selection of free play games is wonderful. This isnt even mentioning the coffee which is delicious! Its a special treat for me to stop there before work now and then for a cup. Lodestone is my go-to place and especially on the west side of town.
Wonderful game store with delicious coffee.
Awesome place to buy singles! They have a nice coffee shop in the back and games you can play for free with friends so it can be a lot of fun. Most of the staff are enjoyable to talk to and they tend to know their stuff. Their restrooms are also a plus!! I havent played any tournaments here yet but everything else checks out in my books.
I love this place! I started coming here about a month after it opened, and its still my favorite coffee shop in town. The staff is always so kind and helpful, it has a great atmosphere, and during normal times I love coming in on Sundays to play games.Bonus: its perfect if youre looking for a shop to hole up and work or study.
Wow is all i can say. kicked people for suggestion to make game store and Discord better. never going back.
Honestly I dont know how this place manages to be so cozy and fun. Staff knows their stuff and is more than willing to help, and the food and drinks are all great as well. Weather youre a hardened nerd or a newcomer to the scene, this is the place for you.
I came to work on my laptop and they have great table space to spread out. There were also people of all ages playing games. What a neat space! The service was quick and the staff friendly! There is plenty of space for you and a group of friends to play games or just hang out!!
This shop has such a wonderful atmosphere! The inside is more spacious than it appears on the outside, the space is well maintained and clean, the workers are friendly and inviting. There is a decent variety of board/card games on the back wall for customers to play while they are there. There is a small selection of games/dice/comics/models for sale at the front of the shop. As for the food and coffee; delicious!! They have a limited selection of food/snacks, but everything I have tried is good so far! I typically get the same bagel breakfast sandwich when I am there, but their pastries are yummy too. Also, all of their coffee/tea is made in house to order. I recommend their dirty chai or their chocolate milk mocha! So delicious!
Unique place with great staff!
Good coffee, tasty sandwiches, comfortable and spacious gaming space, and a good selection of games to try out. Id love to revisit this place, both to hang out and play games and to get work done/grab some coffee. Definitely check it out!
Great atmosphere, excellent games, plenty of space to play.
Lodestone Coffee and Games is great! I never know what to expect going into game stores.... Is it going to be a dark dungeon filled with plastic folding tables and BO? or will it be your standard eye-blinding white walls with racks of gaming paraphernalia everywhere that hardly seems inviting?Lodestone is none of those things. You definitely get the vibe that this is a coffee shop that just happens to also sell games. It is roomy, homey-feeling, and well appointed (not a plastic folding table in sight!). The beverages are priced reasonably and are super tasty as well! While I havent yet ordered any of the food, seeing what other people order gives me a feeling that the food options are good too.If youre looking for a friendly place to game and hang out, Lodestone is probably the best place in the Twin Cities to do that.
My favorite place to play games and drink coffee. The coffee is always delicious and hand crafted. I strongly recommend the Chocolate Moo Cold Brew. There are games available to test play and purchase. There is a wide range of board games as well as Magic decks and D&D books and figures. The owners are always friendly and willing to offer a recommendation. There are weekly gaming events for Magic and D&D.
Warm and inviting place. Great hazelnut coffee. Wide selection of games. Plenty of table space to play. I am glad I stopped in.
Great space for tabletop games. They have a little cafe which at one point was serving Nordic waffles (awesome). They also have a pretty good selection of MTG cards available. Slightly newer is their loyalty program which gives you points for buying items there.
Great atmosphere for playing games. They seem to definitely specialize in Magic the Gathering, which is an amazing game! Very chill, relaxed place with couches in the corner for someone to hang out and just chat, and a bunch of tables for playing games and/or eating drinking. I did not get the chance to really delve too deeply into their food or drink menu, but it looks pretty cool, with some good tea and coffee choices. Very helpful and friendly staff who really seemed to know their stuff.
Neat place, half pretty standard coffee shop, half Magic the Gathering and board game focused game store. Both the store and bathrooms are clean. Coffee is solid, with a limited menu of baked goods and sandwiches. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their respective positions- coffee side makes good coffee, games side knows games and mtg. I have never tried to see if they are cross trained, but seems possible. Definitely a recommend if youre looking for coffee, games or both.
It would be five stars if they still had nordic waffles but they dont and the new breakfast bagels arent worth it. But the atmosphere and coffee are great. Awesome place to study or meet up with big groups of friends for games!
People and owners who work here are pretty solid
This is a great store for playing magic at. Very organized and great atmosphere. If you are looking for casual place to play board games with friends, I would recommend not going on Friday evening or sat afternoon. It gets packed during those times. Every other day though you should easily be able to find a table that can seat up to 8 people. They even have a few board games there if you want to just test out a game.
Its sad to see it now, so closed up and dark. Game selection is small, and with no game play going on now more than half the place was roped off.
Lodestone has the same vibe as most of the coffee and games type places that have gained popularity in recent years. They had ton of free games to play and their staff was more than willing to help us pick out a game that we would have fun playing, because most of the game available to play were ones that I hadnt heard of. They have a full schedule of what looked like group play type games through the week if youre in to that!
Today was the third time I have been to this store. I love the open floor plan of this location and the staff goes above and beyond everytime I have been here. I also feel welcome in this space as a non-binary individual. There are gender neutral bathrooms and the staff all have their pronouns on all of their name tags. They are able to efficiently look up cards for MTG and have a welcoming group of commander players!
Great food and drink, and wonderful games of D&D! Well maintained and good for all ages. Decent, small store. Can get a little loud when all the tables are packed, but at least theres games of D&D!
Best card shop Ive ever been to. Great service, fantastic atmosphere, well organized, and has extremely helpful staff. Puts other card shops to shame. The coffee shop inside is great too.
This place is part coffee shop, part gaming hang out.. However you dont need to play the games to stop in and hang out. I am not really a gamer and I came on a dungeons and dragons night and I must say it was pretty cool how many people they had there and the people watching was excellent. In terms of the drinks: the tea my friend had was delicious, I had a decaf Americano so Ill withhold my opinion on the coffee until I can try the real-deal. The staff was nice too!
Lodestone is the best place for tabletop gaming in the metro! They have a warm and welcoming atmosphere and tons of MtG and board game items for use or purchase. The coffee and food there is also outstanding. Highly recommended
Im an avid MTG player, and I would say if youre in the west metro, this store has a lot of players and from my experience, all the cards youre looking for. A great spot. Its pretty far for me, so I dont get down there much
One of the best game shops in the state, and Ive visited a lot of them. Coffee is locally roasted, and fairly priced. Food options have expanded recently, and are universally excellent. Board game prices are sub MSRP, and their MtG scene is great. Owners and staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and dont suffer any Harassment of any kind in their shop. A jewel of the Twin Cities gaming scene, not to be missed.
Probably the best game store atmosphere in the MPLS area. The coffee shop is good. Lots of space for playing games.
One of the best Magic stores in Minneapolis. Great atmosphere, fair prices in singles and the organized play is well run. They also have a great selection of board games and the coffee/food is ace!
Wife and I decided to finally check this place out last weekend; staff was welcoming and friendly. The coffee shop doesnt have the widest selection, but they have fundamentally great coffee - Im a huge fan of the cold brew.We played a few games while drinking our coffee; I have to say I really enjoyed this place and hope they keep drawing in business. Even if youre not fanatical about deck building games or more complex board games - dont be scared off by this place - neither my wife nor I are hardcore gamers by any means, but felt very welcomed.I see this as a great place to bring a larger group of friends for a game night.
Lodestone Coffee and Games checks all of the boxes for a great LGS (local gaming store). The events are well run by a friendly and helpful staff. The prices are great, the drinks are good, and the bathrooms are clean and well maintained. If you are looking for a board game, definitely ask the staff for a recommendation. I took my daughter there and talked with an employee about what sort of game we might like. He showed us one, then taught us how to play with the store copy. Now its her favorite game. Thanks!
People have are very nice. Great selection of board games. Always something to do as well!
Fantastic place for coffee and games love buying magic cards here
I visited Lodestone for the first time and my experience was excellent. Their selection of board games, magic the gathering products, and gaming supplements were superb. Combine that with a friendly and knowledgeable staff sets Lodestone games apart from other game stores. They have a reasonable amount of space to play games in store and a coffee shop too so if you stop in for a few hours, there are food and refreshments sold in house without ever having to leave.
After this place opened up I have been going here due to how close it is to my house. I have soon found put a great place to come with friends and family. They host many great magic events, in a well lit and cozy environment. Overall do a great job at providing a nice clean location, good food and drinks, fair and honest prices and more. 5/5
Awesome coffee and food. Great atmosphere to hang out and play games
This is a place that you should go out of your way to experience. They offer excellent coffee (Im an admitted coffee snob) and teas. They sell board games as well as having a ton of tables to play games on. They have a comfy couch that is lovely to study on and snuggle up with your significant other. Different days have different games as well as having games on site that anyone can play/try to see if its something they would be interested in. On Sunday several people gather to play magic. They also have a dungeons and dragons night and a few other games. You can show up on those days and play other games as well (we did). This is a very fun, geeky, and kind environment. Im a fan.
I’ll be honest, I was just looking for coffee and Google took me here. I wasn’t expecting this place to have so many gamers all gathered at several tables. All ages, all ethnic backgrounds playing a variety of different games. Just Awesome.
The people here are very helpful and friendly. On top of that, they have great coffee and plenty of space to game. Very clean place as well, thoroughly enjoyed my time here, highly recommended to board games and card games a like!
Fantastic customer service. Knowledgeable staff is able to teach me how to play any board game I purchase. Great magic the gathering tournaments and card selection. Awesome coffee, even better lemonade.
Excellent game shop with a well curated selection, excellent demo shelf, and a helpfull staff willing to teach as well as recommend. They hold regular events for things like MTG, as well as open gaming where you can either bring your own games, or try some of theirs. My wife really liked the hot chocolate.
One of the best places to get and play games. They have quite a few playable copies as well as a knowledgeable staff that can help with questions. If youre looking for a place to play Magic and/or D&D they do weekly play for both.Oh, I forgot. They also have some of the best and most creative coffee specials Ive ever had, as well as a huge selection of different teas. If that isnt enough, local pastries and Nortic waffles should put you over the top.I only wish they served Beer and Wine, but that can get complicated so I dont blame them for that.
Awesome place to have some pastries or Nordic Waffles, some coffee or tea, and play some tabletop games. They have a small library, a game store, plus you can just bring your own and chill. Awesome little place.
Excellent place, great people and really a fun place. For those who havent been, Id suggest going if you like various board games, or if you are a MTG (Magic the Gathering, a rather popular card game) player or D&D player, then drop on by. There is plenty to entertain you, as well as this place being a local hot spot for a popular D&D group. (More information about this group can be found on Meetup, a app that can be downloaded on most phones)But I havent even gotten to the food yet. While their food may be simple, it is tasty and satisfying. I have only ever been there for dinner, so I am unsure if they serve anything else during the earlier hours of the day.Seriously, go check this place out. I found it to be rather excellent. Hopefully yall will too.
Stopped by here on my way out of town with some friends, when I was feeling kinda sick and needed some tea. The dark rose tea was great and helped me feel better! The concept of a combo coffee and gaming shop is fantastic! Wish I lived in the area so I could regularly visit.
Fun place to hang out and play games. The coffee is surprisingly good, though the food could be fresher (bakery items). Staff is super friendly, providing suggestions for games and instructions if needed.
This is simply the best place for games in the Twin Cities. Other places have cool things about them, this place has it all. It is cozy to play, nice library for trying, coffee and tea for sale, good board game selection, and organized Magic Card buying.
Great little game store and coffee shop. Order the nitro cold brew, you wont regret it!
For someone who comes here to simply have coffee and get work done in a clean, welcoming space, Lodestone is fantastic. Looking forward to taking advantage of the board games and weekly events at some point.
A favorite place of mine and my family for a good snack and an enjoyable time.
Fun and friendly environment with a lot of games you can play for free. Great staff. Good coffee. Games to buy are more reasonably priced then other board game stores in the area.
Good coffee and great game selections! So happy a friend told me about this place.
Fun place to get coffee! They have games for sale ad well as awesome nerdy artwork! They host tournaments here and you can play games here any day of the week - card, board, computer, video, etc. Their coffee is good too - lattes and Chai lattes are delicious. Recommend!
Great place to play games and drink coffee with friends. They have a fantastic selection of demo board games, along with games to buy. Everyone is friendly and helpful!
Very clean and modern. Sturdy wooden tables are very nice and the size of the store is perfect. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and very good looking. Coffee is great, and they always have seasonal drinks, and new brews to try from all over the globe.
Lots of big good tables, efficient tournament set up with big screens, and table numbers. Reporting match results upfront by paper+pen so smart and easy. Got some sweet Honduras coffee too. Definitely going back for a pptq.
Great place to chill and play games with friends. Big selection of promo games to try! So nice to be able to buy coffee and treats - makes you stay longer too!
Great place to hang out and play some games! Thursday night D and D is awesome!
Great, helpful staff. Very knowledgeable about the games and products. I had an Arnold Palmer made with a blueberry tea that was delicious.
Awesome spot, good coffee. Great place to play mtg
What a gem to come across! A friend recommended this nook and I couldnt be happier about checking it out. I had a dirty chai and it was delicious, not too sweet, and the chocolate babka was great too. Nice atmosphere, would definitely return to do some gaming with more friends another time and to taste more off their menu!
Have only been here a couple times but can already say for a certain I will be back there many times in the future. Recently got back into MtG and Lodestone is pretty close. I love the store itself, and the staff have been very helpful so far. Looking forward to visiting more often.
Very fun and quiet location for a get together for either a small meeting or playing board games with friends! Even has great drinks for coffee and non coffee drinkers. Highly recommended!
Great coffee and atmosphere! Safe geek space. I also recommend avoiding on nights with organized play (FNM) as it can be hard to find free table space, unless of course your there for the event.
I recently had the displeasure of playing magic the gathering with someone from your store, and the way they carried themselves in game was the worst sportsmanship I have ever seen. He has said that he represents you guys and is a regular. In the future I will actively steer people away from your card shop. Dont breed childish players.
I love this place. It has so much character. Need to revisit.
Yummy coffee, pretty good game choices and a big space! Hunny one complaint would be something I will tell them in person. 🤗
Nice place to sit down and relax. The shelf of games that you could play for free was a very nice touch. Will definitely be coming again. One star off because I think the drinks are too expensive
Awesome service and awesome coffee
Such a friendly crowd for gaming events. Very welcoming to newcomers. Great coffee and tea selection too. Beware though that the path is guarded on all sides by foul nether beings of the 6th beyond. Dark sentinals whose enticing whispers would drive same men mad. Even now I can hear thier faint murmuring beckoning me to the aether void beyond.
Super nice place. Great coffee and game selection. Cheers from Germany.
A clean and stylish place to play games and grab a latte while youre at it. Has great magic events and singles selection, but if you are looking for other things you may be dissapointed, they carry some of the most popular table top and board games but not a ton of selection.
This place is so great, Im glad I had the afternoon off to go here. Extremely friendly staff (even met one of the owners), lots of games to try out, and the coffee is great. Will be coming back :)
Great looking small card shop. Lots of board games and tcg supplies
Warm atmosphere and friendly staff. Really inviting place to sit down and spend an afternoon with a friend or loved one if you enjoy coffee and/or games!
I have never been but I found out they run Monday night legacy with NO PROXIES and that to me is epic 5 stars all the way for them!! I will become a regular even though its a little far for me to drive, I like to support shops that support legacy straight up even if its out of my way!!!! more shops need to take a look at that format of mtg play because running proxies is fake mtg for kiddies!!! :::=^) get thecards or play something else right
I had been looking for a place to make new friends and play D&D. Lodestone was there waiting for me. Gaming, caffeine and treats in a lovely environment.
Fun place with lots of games to choose /buy from. Nice little cafe inside too.
