My Moosberg 930 shotgun had a small problem when I reassembled it after cleaning it today. It is difficult to load and unload shells. The shop staff enthusiastically helped me repair it, and hurt his hand during the period. They did not charge me any money after the repair. I appreciate. Im an Regular customer here. The guns here are cost-effective and the quality is guaranteed. Usually, the price of a new gun is 10% or 15% cheaper than that of a big store.

Extremely rude customer service. I called to ask a question about a reloading block. Silence followed for about 30 seconds, followed by a response. I asked a follow up question, and the Gunstop associate replied, Im not walking back there again. You have to ask me all of your questions up front. I was astounded by their handling of a reasonable pre-purchase question and refused to to business with them. You can get better customer service virtually anywhere else.

Ive only ordered from this place online over the years. Always had the impression that it is a small shop that sometimes has what you need and many times I am surprised at what is still in stock when every other outfit online and in person is sold out. For that reason I return. Reading some of the reviews and having spoken with them over the phone a couple of times, I understand why people complain about these guys being terse / brief / rude but I am not letting that interfere with my searches. They either have what you are looking for or do not (or someone walked in and bought what I had ordered before they could process my order). No big deal (you snooze you lose and need to research elsewhere before shopping here). When you take into consideration all the ammo/supply shortages and craziness over these last years, hey, these guys are busy and just dont have the time. I can accept that for now and have my own expectations set before ordering.

Beware! Sells used damaged guns as new. Assured me the gun was new but found out it was privately owned for 3 years and the sights had been damaged by the original owner using a cheap sight pusher. Do NOT trust this shop with your money or life. The manufacturer would not honor the warranty because it was in fact not new and because it had been altered/damaged. Do not trust any Gunshop that is not honest about what they are selling you. Especially when it has been damaged! You are risking your life!

I have to agree with the reviews about staff being rude and disrespectful on the reloading side and act like it is an imposition to even ask a question to the point that it is almost always a negative experience. The heavy set man on the reloading side ignores you and gives extremely poor service I would not allow such a person to work for me. On the other hand I have always found the staff in the gun section to be polite and helpful and even join in on a conversation. The gun side of the shop has a nice selection of new and used firearms and I have shopped there for over 20 years.

Just got off the phone with a 🐴ars from the reloading dept. To qualify this review, the call lasted less than 60 sec and I was told he had three customers standing in front of him. I had the requests I was looking for on a post it and blazed through them and when I asked advice on a set of match/competition dies-the previous repsonse is what I got. Rude and unprofessional; complete lack of customer service. Spend the extra $ and order online. This is the reason staple businesses perish. What a shame as I read the reviews and saw the progression from good to bad. I carefully considered not posting but sometimes you have to call it like you see it. I have been reloading for over 30 years and will not step into The Gunterdstop again. Maybe its time to hang up the spurs if you are going to treat people that way. 😉😞

(Ive never written a 1 star review before but holy cow!) Ive been going here for 4 years for EVERYTHING I need. The other day I emailed and asked if theyd pick $500 worth of items for me cuz Id be cutting it thin on time. He said hed pick the dies, measures, etc but not the powder. OK FIne, first come first served. So Ill just grab that when I get there, but then I get there and he says I cant have 3 types of powder, I can only have 1. So I said Id take the Sport Pistol but if I couldnt have the other 2 kinds of powder I didnt need the dies for the 3rd caliber. Then he said he wouldnt sell me ANY powder if I didnt buy the dies. I had driven an hour each way for 4 years and he wont sell me powder if I dont spend hundreds more. Then he continued to email me all weekend telling me all the reasons he could think of why I was wrong. I can buy online and wait 2 days, spend less money, and not have any arguments. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!

Even though I keep getting ripped off by these guys over and over again for the past 10-15 years, I keep going back and dont know why. Last one was a somewhat rare antique which was fixed at about $1000 due to its worn condition. It had brought an offer of $1500 at other places but I thought I could get the book value of $2000+ for it. These guys offered a mere $500. All I can say is shop around and dont settle for the first price you get.

I visited this place when in town on vacation. Ive been to most reloading supply places in Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee and was floored by all of the inventory they had. I actually took pictures to show my friends. This is a destination store. Its worth traveling hours to get to. I had never seen a Mr. Bulletfeeder in person and they had 5 or so of them.I spent a good hour walking circles in confusion because I didnt know what to do. I came to kill some time and ended up spending a few hundred dollars. (be warned!) :)It was pouring down raining when I was there so had a lot of time to speak to John. He definitely knows his stuff and made a connection with me quickly about my hometown. Im a bit jealous of the people that live nearby and the access they have to such resources.

He was arrogant at first, I asked him a question, John answered it, then a customer overheard my question and gave his opinion and John got mad because the other customer butt into the conversation. Once John realized I was spending a decent amount of money he was rather nice to me. I was about to walk out at one point due to treating me like an idiot. Tragic. I have shopped there several times over the past couple years and they do have a good selection of reloading supplies at decent prices but you pay the high cost of dealing with arrogant jerks who man the counter between you and what you want. This company has two parts...the gun retail side and the reloading side. They are actually owned by different people. The gun retail side is actually pretty good. I would give it a 3 or 4 out of 5. Ive found them to be the lowest prices in town. Not much for conversation and/or advice/recommendations. Do your research online...do there when you know what you want. The only thing I dont like is there really isnt any choices for accessories. Go somewhere else for this. The reloading side is terrible. The guys is always rude and not helpful. Prices are ok at best. Typically you can find the same item at the same price or better. Dont dare question it if they do recommend something. Forget trying to return something. Theres always an excuse as to why you cant return it. Also you really dont get a receipt. I have bought from him only because I needed a Dillon piece and theyre they only retailer in town and couldnt wait. Other supplies, I go elsewhere. Fleet Farm has started to carry reloading supplies (when they have them) and are the cheapest prices in town. I would give the reloading side a 1 out of 5. Look online, theres lots of negative feedback on this guy. DO NOT buy from his website. He will sell you stuff he does not have in stock.

This place is nice. They have a good selection of used firearms out for you to browse and an extraordinary inventory of reloading supplies and equipment. Its actually two businesses under one roof--reloading on one side, gun sales on the other. Staff on both sides is very knowledgeable and helpful. Like most old-school gun shops, theres the standard old guy with no reason to be there, nothing better to do but kill time and offer anti-Obama commentary. Even though Im a Democrat, and disagree, I still find it comforting. So much nicer and more authentic than the Gander Mountain/Cabelas environment.

The gun side has the best prices on new guns in the metro area. The fellow that whines about low ball prices on trades, has to understand as I think most people do.....that you will never get what you paid for a gun and if they already have few used it makes it tougher. And, why would a business give a person more then they can buy a new gun at wholesale in trade? No sense at all!The reloading side has a great selection. Good selection of reloading supplies at slight discounts from normal pricing, some items that typically are only found online because they would not be common, or fast moving inventory. 250 savage ackley Improved die - available and on the shelf? They had it. For an experienced reloader, that knows the questions to ask, its a good place. The employees do seem to be effected by the stress from time to time, and overhearing conversations with beginning reloaders - the store is not a place to learn reloading. When you have learned it, the store will impress by having many advanced reloading items that are not ever stocked at brick and mortar storefronts. Im from out of town and appreciated being able to inspect what Im buying and walk out the door with it vs ordering online and having it shipped. On the gun side - there were many interesting long guns on the rack - but it appears there is an aversion to left handed long guns. Im a lefty, Ive not seen a single left handed action on the racks in several visits. Could be interesting for a right handed shooter - but for a lefty - theres nothing to consider.

If youre in this store to buy a firearm, youll receive great service. However, if you are in the store to purchase reloading supplies, youll get an elitest attitude of the highest order. Ive only been in the store twice, and both times the gentleman begins with a nice, Hello, can I help you find anything?. Do NOT answer him.I failed to take the preceeding advice. I simply inquired, Where are your powders. To which he answered, Youve never been here before have you?. I politely responded, This is only my second time, I usually shop at Wolfs Den. Him, Okay, well what do you need?. Me, Im looking for a good powder for .308 reloading. Him, Theres lots of books right over there, go read them. I cant tell you what I have in stock if you dont know what you want..I was thinking to myself, listen @#$#head, I came in here because YOU are supposed to be the expert, I am asking your advice and will subsequently purchase and use what youre offering, Im relatively new to reloading. Yes Ive researched various powders, but I was hoping youd have some recommendations.. But he was so belligerent I just asked for the powder type I know and have used so far. Its hard enough being new to something and feeling overwhelmed without some arrogant (or annoyed at uneducated customers who are just learning) owner/salesperson making you feel like an idiot. Im positive he wasnt born with a reloading station in his hands either. The previous shopping experience with this same person wasnt so great either. I was in the aisles looking for some new die sets and I heard him on the phone with another customer who had some basic questions. His responses were rude and I have to say it made me very apprehensive to ask any questions myself. This is an elitist reloading store, if you want to learn or want to attempt to enjoy yourself by picking up a new hobby, I recommend you go elsewhere. Its too bad really, because I have a lot of money to spend and its going to be spent online now instead. I go to stores so I can have personal service and experience, not to be shunned and ridiculed for not having 20 years of reloading experience. In retrospect I conversed with a reloading buddy of mine who suggested this store (and has a positive review on them up on Google). We believe that since the panic, many new reloaders without knowledge are coming into the store and annoying the owner. This is just a guess however, but regardless, everyone who is a potential customer should be treated with respect regardless of their motivations to purchase. They obviously are doing quite well for themselves and dont need new customers. I recommend if you need to buy something but dont have the knowledge research it on the Internet and buy it on the Internet. You wont finish your purchase feeling like youre the reason the owner hates coming to work every day.

Ive been buying from the Gunstop since they were in Excelsior, without a doubt John is the most knowledgeable guy Ive met for reloading. His humor can be dry and like anyone he has the ability to ruffle ones feathers, but he is actually very friendly and will work to save you money on your purchases if you let him. He has an extensive supply of books, presses, dies and reloading accessories. His component prices are the best around. As components come back into the stores I think the experience will be better for newer reloaders, I suspect part of the problem is the gougers who take advantage of Johns low prices, attempt to clean out his inventory and then sell on Armslist or Gunbroker at two or three times the retail price. If youre into reloading this is THE place to go.The Firearms side is OK, not as good as it was under Howard (the previous owner) the prices are fair and there is good inventory. Its prices are much better than the big box stores, the local gun store in St Louis Park on 394 or the budding chain in Robbinsdale. They are getting some competition from the newer local gun store store in Eden Prairie. If youre looking for a firearm I would strongly encourage you to check out the firearms side of this shop.

These guys rock! Im amazed at the negative comments about John and GunStop. Im very new to reloading and recently acquired a ton of equipment from a friend that was getting out of reloading. I arrived there at just a bit after they opened at 8am and explained my situation. Now, Johns not the most talkative but hes friendly and walked through what I needed to do without being asked. Some of my questions were answered with a vague response (i.e. How often to I validate my powder weights? A: As often as you think you need to...), but I realized that only meant that I need to determine these things through my own experience. That was strange, seeing Im used to getting an exact response, but I know if it could be answered exactly I would get that kind of answer. When I returned a second time destroying more 45 ACP cases than creating usable ammo he again walked me through using my own dies. Besides using the wrong die for seating (dont ask, its just dumb on my part) it was determined that one of my seating die inserts (this handles round nose or flat bullets) had bad threads. He exchanged this part for me at no charge despite not purchasing the die through him. This was unexpected and appreciated. Now, I make ammo that goes bang all the time. For all I expect from a business hes delivered. Friendly, attentive, and available. Whats not to love?
