It took a few months for me to calmly write this. I set up truck in advance and was told it would be at 20th Ave site. When I got to Minot, it was changed to 2505 N Bdwy. I called many times,no answer. So, I called and headed to site. When I walked in 4 people where by desk and 1 customer was in store. I asked why my calls werent answered and 3 of them looked at phone and said, oh, is there a call? I was still on hold. We then looked for truck order. A man said the truck will be ready at 10. I said I was told it would be 9. He then said, 11:00, taunting me. I told him I had a crew set up and I really had to get the house empty. He said didnt anyone tell you, we dont like to do one-way. I was hauling to Fargo. He the said, 12:00. I walked out loudly talking to myself, trying to decide what to do. When I got home, I had a message that said, 1:30 pick up. I went to Penski and got a call the next morning that he had a truck for me. Thank God for that man, he saved me and all my family who had gathered to move me. I did call and tell them what they could do with that truck and that they had no right to treat a person that way.
My experience here has been great. Super service, they have worked to get me the best prices, and Ive been treated very professionally. In the middle of a move, and they have been a great help.
This location has very horrible customer service have a truck with bad breaks. Do not run checks on truck before sending them out to customers .
Why is it anytime I call im on a 20+ minute hold? Theyve also lost my lock 3 times. Cant recommend them for storage because they cant keep it secure. $100 a month and Ive had to pay for a lock 3 times in 6 months. Go anywhere else.EDIT: After sitting on hold a couple weeks ago I found out the gentleman I had spoken to before about payment, Kyle, never put notes into the system he said he had did. The lady at the call center said she sent an E-Mail to the GM to call me when available. This was 2 weeks ago. All I got was a very vague email that stated I needed to pay. That was it. They really need to train their staff, GM included, on customer care and customer service.EDIT 2: I lost everything I had stored. Their refusal to work with me when I didnt get a full paycheck over a 5 week span due to switching to a better job just baffles me. I now have no furniture, lost collectables, and even family heirlooms. Simply put, do not rent from them. Go ANYWHERE else. If you face any hardship they do as little as humanly possible to help you and are only there for your money. Zero sense of humanity shown. Let my mistake not become your own, nobody deserves to just have to start life over again like Im having to do.
If zero stars were an option, thats what I would give. I reserved a 26 ft truck to move to Colorado on military orders only to have the uhaul store call me 48 hours before intended pick up to say if I wanted the truck I reserved 2 months ago, I had to drive nearly 400 miles to pick it up. They offered no assistance to retrieve the truck despite the short notice, only offering more mileage and extra days to our rental. This is the second time in 6 months that uhaul has told us we would need to drive an excess of 200 miles to retrieve the rental that was reserved. If youre moving around Minot, Penske offers more options, doesnt make you drive hundreds of miles to pick up a rental you reserved for a nearby location, and doesnt leave customers on hold for ridiculous amounts of time. In the time Ive taken to write this review and reserve a truck through Penske, I am STILL on hold with Uhauls 1800 number. Save your energy and use Penske
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Do not waste your money or time with them. Reserved a truck a few times (different occasions) and never got the size I needed & was never told ahead of time! They charge you for products I never used and never issued me a refund. Rude and always short-handed! Very bad company & employees over the last 10 years.
The very first part of our travel journey started at Uhaul and while the earlier service we received was highly questionable and even border line criminal (we were towing a vehicle and they kept saying that an inspection wasn’t required when we asked for one to ensure the vehicle was properly strapped), the service we received toward the middle and very end was phenomenal. To commend a few people who have been an extreme help in this process, we would like to thank the following: Brad for being an absolute trooper and GOAT for helping us load both the auto transport AND install the hitch to my vehicle so we can pull a cargo trailer, Denin for taking the time to ensure all our transactions were executed properly even when the store was set to close in 10 minutes, and Mark for setting us up right away with another 20 foot truck the moment we realized our 15 footer wasn’t going to be big enough. Having these three people were critical to providing ease throughout this whole PCS process.
Made reservation 6 weeks in advance for cargo van. Called store day before to confirm and told them plane got in at 3:20 pm and I would be there at 3:50. They not only gave my van away, but would not give me 10 ft. Truck. Sent me across town- promised me all was in order ready to go. They lied. No contact made. More hassles. Horrible customer service.
This location does not fill the truck up when you do your pick up. My truck had three sixteenth of a tank of gas. Because I rent trucks all around the country, I expected a full tank of gas and I would leave it with a full tank of gas like everywhere else. Im sure this is a cost-cutting measure for them so that they dont have to staff a person to do the fill up. Also theyre not paying for gas. One other thing oh, they take pictures of the truck and attach it to an email as their walk around. The front end picture of the truck was not taken in the dark like when I picked it up. Once daylight arrived I noticed a large dent in the front bumper. Was that a trick waiting to happen?
Denin and his coworkers were amazing while we were there on Wednesday, January 29th.We were waiting for an online marketplace seller to arrive so we could pick up an item from her storage (she never did 😣) and while waiting inside, we had a wonderful visit with all of the guys there.Very personable, helpful and went above and beyond to allow us to wait inside for THREE hours.Thank you, Denin and coworkers. You all made what would have been a horrible, miserable day, a lot better 😊

I highly suggest no one have business here, rude to customers. There operator trash talking about customers over the phone. Very lazy workers. Very careless employees.
Ordered a tow hitch and payed for expedited shipping so we could meet an appointment. They were really friendly in that process. The day of appoint meant I called in the morning to make sure the part would be ready because I have to drive from over 100 miles away. They assured me it would be ready to go, arrived for appointment and it was not.Asked for a refund they would not. They kept trying to reschedule me as if I lived in town and had nothing else to do. I would have not minded if they didn’t assure me in the morning and made me drive over and waste a day.Do not do business with these people.
Reserved a 6x12 utility trailer online. Stopped by the store to pick it up. After waiting in line for 20 minutes because only one guy is working the counter I’m told they don’t have it. I said why was it available online. Kyle Kicker (owner) says well someone should have called you to let you know. Zero cares given
Ive used this U-haul location three since 2013 and they have always been helpful and had the truck ready to go. I never go for any of the additional charges aside from maybe using the furniture pads. The invoice is always correct and never disputes over the gas level.
Good customer service, staff was friendly and helpful. They were flexible and accommodating to my requests. I would recommend their services based on my personal experience with their company.
Will charge you $20 fee if you not able to complete their app which crashes and fails to be completed when returning the truck.Taking my business somewhere else .
Rude employees. I was attempting to do an after hour drop off (5 minutes after closing), and after disconnecting a trailer in a location next to others, an employee can storming out and informed me I need to move the trailer. Said employee watched me park and disconnected the trailer before directing me to move.
This is privet own company. You expect clear communication. Well, its was clear to me from one of employers that we can extend for another day if cant make it. She ask to make sure to call in the morning. I called in the morning to extend the contract. He yalled at me saying NO YOU CANT EXTED BECAUSE THE TRUCK WAS PROMISED FOR ANOTHER CUSTOMER!!! Which I understand, BUT THAT IS NON OF MY CONCERNS! B! Maybe you should do your JOB and make a clear that there is no extension policy. change your policy to - no extension at all policy. Maybe than you wouldnt say Why I got one ☝️ star. Lack of communication between employers, causing disrespectful communication to customers. You need some milk man! And please go to church
Called far ahead for two pieces of equipment to rent. Ended up not having it when I needed it. Dont rent from these guys.
Absolutely upset, made reservations over two months ago for a truck and they call me two days before picking up the truck, that they dont have a single truck and I have to drive two hours (williston) to pick a truck. I will be credited $100 for the inconvenience! Wow they suck!
The store representative lied to my face, and when the manager had a chance to follow up claimed there was nothing he could do.My original contract had different dates than was communicated to me when I picked up the trailer in Denver.I received a call on my unknown surprise return date that my trailer needed to be dropped of that day. I was in the process of doing a military move, showed up at the location with my trailer to be returned that same day. I explained to the representative I needed to weigh the trailer with my vehicle but the weight scales were closed. I was explicit told by the counter representative to bring it back the next day and not worry about any additional charges or fees. I returned it the next day and when I checked my credit card bill there was a surprise charge for an additional day.I disputed this with Uhauls customer service who left it at the discretion of the manager who when I spoke to him made it sound like I was some ridiculous high maintenance customer when in fact I was just trying to find out why I had been deceived and the store couldnt honor its own promises.I highly recommend going with a different company for any needs or services that U-haul provides and can be found elsewhere.
We had reserved a uhaul trailer 3 days in advance we go to pick it up and they end up telling us it isnt available because a light isnt working. We were relying on that trailer, we were moving state. We ended up having to donate so many of our belongings because they couldnt call in advance to notify us to search somewhere else. We have used uhaul so many times. They have officially lost us as customers.
Told me they couldnt cook a trailer up to my jeep because it was a soft top after Id rented a trailer on TWO separate occasions not even 3weeks prior. If youre going to have rules make sure theyre enforced ALL THE TIME, not just when you feel like it or when your boss is around. Such an inconvenience.
They quoted me wrong by hundreds of dollars. Took over a thousand dollars before they ever had a truck and auto transport. They couldnt even relay the proper information to independent Harvey uhaul for the proper equipment. They said a car dolly I was hauling rear-wheel drive. They said they added a day and 100 miles to get the truck from Harvey as well as a discount but I still had to pay more after I got there because they stole it off the credit card 3 days before any truck was available and MADE me take a larger truck and spend more on fuel because they cannot deliver ANYTHING they take money for. This location should have never taken any money since THEY did not provide the truck or transport. Avoid avoid avoid, uhaul here will take your money and screw you every chance they can.
Im a former employee and find that having good customer service is a neccesarity in public businesses. Throughout my whole time working for Lyle k. in Minot N.D i was treated very poorly and felt very discriminated against due to my age. As Lyle once told me himself Age has nothing to do with life decisions, not only did i rent a truck from Lyle he did not use my discount for being a employee and was charged for another day when he clearly stated i was not suppose to be. So I had have Corporate intervine and Shawn took care of the problem but no discipline was taken against Lyle in which there have been several complaints bout his management skills in which he certainly did not have any. I have seen personalky several incidents in which customers verbally used language towards Lyle due to the way he treated them with no respect or consideration towards their needs. So in conclusion if u decide to rent from Lyle be prepared to be screwed over 1 way or another n watch Lyle laugh at your discomfort when you have leave the premises. I have personally seen Lyle laugh at customers when he over charges them. Also make sure you look for coupons and discounts on Google Uhaul coupons used for rentals n i encourage no one to be another victim of Lyles sales tactics in selling you something you dont need. So goodluck commumity and hopefully enough complaints will get Lyle k. Out of Minot and back where he came from cause he has no respect for nobody that walks through the door at Minot Uhaul and just sees you as a cash machine.
I rented the biggest UHaul box truck and car trailer for a 1300 mile move months in advance. I called a week, 3 days, and 1 day out to make sure everything was still good. The day we picked up the UHaul they had given ours to a in town move. There was talk of giving us a SMALLER Uhaul. Fortunately they gave us an in town large mover. This was never meant to go across country. We got 1 hour down highway 83 and a tire blew out on the trailer. It took 2.5 hours for help to arrive. Then to come to find out the trailer had 2 other bald tires that would have never made it the 1300 miles. We then had to drive to the Bismarck location to get those tires changed to make it on our cross country move. This situation took 4 hours away from our move and made us arrive at our destination 30 mins before our appointment.LOOK OVER YOUR VEHICLE BEFORE DRIVING IT OFF THE LOT, because apparently the staff at the Minot location does not care what condition the equipment is in, as long as they get their money. Better yet rent from Penskye in Minot.
This U-Haul company is horrible. We rented a trailer to haul a truck and they ended up giving it (their last one too) to someone right before we were due to pick it up! We went in on a Mon to set up the rental and ensure a trailer would be available for Fri; they assured us one would be available in our name. We show up Fri around 1100 and get informed they gave their last one to someone that walked in last minute needing one. The tech didnt even check to see if it was reserved in our name until we had him check their system. We contacted U-Haul customer service and had to drive to another town 4 hours away just to get one!! The rep we spoke with said she would credit us $50 for the inconvenience. We never saw that credit on our bill. Good luck dealing with this company if you ever need something from them.
We made a reservation several days before we needed to pick it up. We were told we would get a call the evening before pick-up just as a final confirmation. That call never came. We received a call the day of pick-up from a Fargo location saying that the Minot location had given our RESERVED equipment to someone else and that I would have to drive to Williston to get the equipment myself. Wound up having to make a last-minute reservation with Budget. Uhaul really needs to step up their game in ND. This is unacceptable service. No wonder the other rental companies in town have much better ratings.
Worst place ever. Do not go here. Go to Penske, borrow trucks do anything but come to this place to rent ANYTHING. Lyle is an unprofessional arrogant prick that doesnt care about the business, he is only there to see dollar signs. Every customer that walks through that door is a walking atm to him. DO NOT RENT FROM UHAUL LOCATIONS IN MINOT. These are privately owned all by Lyle because his parents are loaded and hes a spolied child. DO NOT RENT!
The day before I was supposed to pick up a truck, we received a call from the Fargo location saying that the Minot location did not have any trucks available, but I could drive to Killarney, Manitoba (seriously) to get one. I spoke with a representative about when we could actually get a truck, and she very helpfully informed me that there were no trucks coming into Minot.This is no way to run a business.If you need to use Uhaul out of Minot, do not try to use the website to book a truck.

The guy at the computer looks like he doesnt want do his job, he was very rude every time I ask him a question he doesnt want answers my question..... and this wasnt a first time, this was a second time.... hes not a good customer service worker! The real rating should be 💩.I had them replace my tow package on my vechile. Afterwards vechile started making a new sound. Took it back and was told by lyle that I would have to prove that they didnt do it. I then pointed out where they scratched my paint on both tail lights. I was told he would give me $20 to fix the paint. Custom color white with metallic flake. Filed one complaint heard nothing. Filed another complaint and told to wait three business days. After a week called back and was told that problem was resolved, lyle had called me and taken care of it. I never received a call store manager lied. This uhaul is a joke!!! The corporate office should do something about this employee. Very rude, unprofessional, no class.

I reserved a truck a month ago for a 1400 mile trip. Called the morning before the trip to confirm, they said everything was in order. They then called me maybe two hours later to tell me that they didnt have what I needed and that I would have to drive to Williston if I wanted the truck I had reserved, again, a MONTH ago. Very dissatisfied, do not recommend for anyone moving across country. They are very unreliable and will not give you enough notice to make other arrangements.
Just got off the phone with someone who told me they didnt have what I needed available, was very rude and hung up on me. Called back 5 minutes later and was told by a different employee that everything was available.

Two stars because my rate has gone from $98 to $114! Seems like every couple of months I need to prepay to lock in my rate for the month. Its ridiculous.

We booked a trailer, called to verify on MULTIPLE occasions, then were TWO days before moving across country they could not guarantee us a truck. We have used their services a few times in the past few years (because they are the only option) and every time has been a complete mess!

Ive rented a storage unit, rented a trailer to haul gravel and had them install a hitch on my vehicle. I have had zero complaints about anything and have been treated great by them.
