Im writing this review as a guitarist, therefore the criteria of my review is almost entirely from my experience with the guitar department.As a guitarist, this shop is hands down my #1 choice for basic maintenance/work. If/when you need your guitar tuned/restrung, this is the place to go. For this type of work, the prices are SIGNIFICANTLY better than at every other shop(past or present) in town.Specifically, their main guitar guy Marco is not only a great guitar tech who knows his stuff, but he is an amazing guy and a pleasure to talk to. He has always been upfront and honest with me. If hes uncertain about about a specific tuning/string setup that I asked for, then he lets me know BEFORE I leave my guitars there. If its going to take him several business days, he lets me know upfront. Every time Ive received my instruments back from here, they are tuned and set exactly as I asked for.***If you have a guitar with a Floyd Rose tremolo or another floating bridge, this is THE shop to go to***-Electronic Sound and Percussion charged me 3x as much money to change strings/tuning on a Floyd Rose-When Outlaw Music was still open in town, they also quoted 3x as much money as Morgenroth for a restring/tune of a Floyd Rose.-To specify, two of my floating bridge guitars are 7-strings which Ive had Marco down-tune to Drop G or lower. And still, no matter how low of a tuning I requested, or no matter the gauge or number of strings, the price and the quality of the work has been consistent.*I have had my Floyd Rose 7-string(s) restrung and re-tuned THREE TIMES at Morgenroth before it costed as much as one single re-tune/restring for a 6-string Floyd Rose at ESPAside from Marco and the guitar department, Ive always been greeted and offered assistance upon entering the store.

I enjoy coming here. The staff are always wonderful and knowledgeable. I could spend hours in this store just talking about music stuff. Id rather come here than spend money on Amazon.

Im renting my daughters violin from here. She is in 5th grade and just starting orchestra. I didnt realize you could rent to own here. Another cool thing is if she outgrows this violin and we need to size up the money weve put towards it can be applied to the next violin, up to 12 mo. of payments I believe. Really great program for anyone wanting to experiment qnd learn a new instrument.

I went to go get information about buying my very first guitar. I know zero about them and I told the guy as much. He was really unhelpful and hard to get information out of. I was totally ready to purchase a guitar but decided to buy somewhere else rather than give these people money.Specifically, every time I asked about what size I would need he laughed at me and say that I wouldnt like any of the guitars he had and went on a rant about shipping and availability. He scolded my wife for how she was holding the guitar (how would she know how to hold it? We just told him we didnt know anything!) He told us we wouldnt even want to look at a nicer guitar without saying why.I told him 3 different times that I just wanted basic guidance on how to pick one as a beginner and still couldnt get an answer. I finally walked out of the guitar room because I was done with him - when I stepped out my wife actually extracted SOME information from him and even found a guitar she thought looked good. The price was right and everything - I just couldnt stomach doing business with him.I understand if youre an experienced player maybe you appreciate the service in here - but what we got was not informative. Go somewhere else or buy online - I would not recommend anyone go here for a guitar.

Took my guitar in to fix some high frets and for general set up. The guys in the guitar shop got me squared away in a day! No more high frets, action nice and low, guitar sounds great. Super friendly and very generous pricing. Great local shop with a bit of everything.

Im up to my third child in purchasing instruments for school band and orchestra from Morgenroth and I cant say enough good about how friendly they are and how fairly they treat us when we are buying and trading in instruments. I am a lifetime customer they are the best!

My first encounter with Morgenroth.Kurt is hands down the most knowledgeable, genuinely friendly and helpful luthier/tech Ive encountered in my 18 years of owning guitars. Its evident he truly cares about his craft and moreover, players. The world could use a lot more Kurts. Lifetime customer.

Morgenroth is probably the best stocked music store in Missoula. Broad range of music materials. And knowledgeable staff. 3.5 overall for me only because of the feel of the store, which is a dodgy way to rate, Ill admit.

Been in here a couple of times and its like getting service from a store decades past. They care and they take the time to help you and your instruments. Its really impressive and for sure its my go to music center in Missoula.

Wonderful music store, good selection of products. Knowledgeable and friendly staff overall. Marco is both an encyclopedia and fun to work with on electronics and guitar needs. Their in house guitar teacher (James Wallace) is engaging during lessons and very talented. My cousins rented school instruments from them and were pleased with that service as well.

I bought a glockenspiel here as a total impulse purchase and now I play the glockenspiel, which isnt something I would have thought Id ever be saying. Anyways, the guys that run the place are cool and I got a good deal I think. I dont really know how much a glockenspiel should cost. Lots of great instruments and well stocked. They even have a 6 foot xylophone made of wood and Im really thinking about buying it. A xylophone is like a grown up glockenspiel, in case you didnt know, and I think that is the next logical step on my musical journey.

I flew my sister Viola here to Missoula from Alaska this summer and wanted to rent a cello for her to play while in town. The staff was great. Helped me figure out a nice sounding cello and even put up with us two Inupiaqs while searching for sheets music. Well for sure be back.

Went there to check out guitar amps and patch cables while I waited to get my truck fixed. Super helpful and nice guy in the guitar section who answered all my questions and let me playa guitar plugged into an amp to hear how the amp sounded.I wish they had more selection and possibly carry some used gear (for guys on a tighter budget), but given the size of Missoula, it’s probably hard for them to maintain too large of an inventory.I’d go back and recommend. great customer service. Definitely worth checking out-it’s nice to have a bigger music shop in the area 👍

An expansive and well-rounded music store for purchasing and replacing instruments, accessories, sheet music, and more. They offer supplies for pretty much every common band instrument you can find as well as pianos, guitars, etc. While a bit on the pricey side, extra parts like reeds or picks can also be purchased here. If your instrument is bent up, they can also repair it for you.Its not spectacular, but Morgenroth is definitely a good general music supplies store.

Horrible experience workers were very rude was looking to buy their $3,300 Taylor and was told as I was playing the guitar that it wasn’t a jam room very bad service highly do not recommend going here. Any place in Missoula has to be better then here.

A hugely impressive selection of instruments and supplies. I went in wondering if they had capos that would fit a mandolin and a ukulele. Of course they did. And lots of other stuff that kept me in the like a kid in a candy store for much longer than I expected.Only weird part was an employee who looked at my two young daughters and asked me, Do you have a gun? I told him I dont have one. He said, Youd better get one! I guess thats his way of saying, Your little girls are pretty, so you will be needing a weapon to keep people from harming them or frightening off future suitors. Duly noted, sir. However, not being a fan of human-on-human gun use, I think Ill handle it my way.

They have a nice selection of pianos. They also do instrument repair. They have a selection of music. I usually buy my classical music there. The staff are friendly, but the some of their customers are very rude. The last time I was there the salesman invited me to try one of their grands in front of another customer. As soon as I started playing a Rachmaninoff prelude, that very same customer interrupted and rudely asked me to stop. I doubt Ill go back. Ill buy my music and next piano at a friendly spot.
