A quintessential shaved ice store with everything to go with that title: long line, some wait, huge menu of flavors, wonderful initial taste followed by a pool of odd tasting slush. BUT, thats shaved ice and we love it. It is a wonderful little shaved ice shop and highly recommended. Service could be faster though although this could be due to their popularity and small size.

Love-LOVE this place however, very disappointed with the kettle popcorn. It’s not kettled popcorn- it’s popcorn with seasoned with finely granulated sugar. Hoping this was a one time thing since we haven’t had any fairs around due to COVID, and I am craving some fresh kettled popcorn!!

Im always treated very well here. The owner is a very lovely woman who really cares about her employees and the community.Everything is yummy and the employees are really great people.

Terrible customer service. I was left waiting for my order for 10 minutes while watching the employees do nothing but talk and joke around, the tall young man with braces even spent most of that showing off how good he was at throwing ice into the air and catching it in his mouth. They overfilled the small cups they gave me so that there were four inches of ice on top (even though larger cups were clearly available) and balanced two uselessly small lids on top so that the order leaked all over my seat while I was delivering it. Never coming back or delivering for this place again.

I love this place very much. I prefer these shaved ices rather than a raspado that you can typically find at a flea market. Yes, they can take a while especially during rush hour but it’s worth it. Jill herself is very polite! I mentioned to her that on my last visit my shaved ice was very lack luster and wasn’t filled and constructed properly and she apologized and gave me a card for a free shaved ice next time I visit. That was very kind of her! I definitely recommend anyone in the Modesto region to stop by Pura Vida.

Walked in and one of the workers was scratching his nose while making a snowcone. None of the workers had masks on. I walked back out. Dont he rubbing your nose with one hand and preparing food with another. Not during a pandemic.

Great shaved ice and a large selection of flavors, also great customer service. Best of all its right next door to my favorite cigar shop. Its a win win situation.

You can tell covet is ending because the line is getting long. They have the wonderful fresh and not too bad for you shaved ice. I was happy to see that they also are now making the Dole whip that is something you can usually only get in disneyland. So its quite a treat to be able to get it locally. I havent tried any of their coffee but Ive had several shaved ices and I have had their kettle corn and theyre wonderful.

Wow- things have changed. Been awhile since I’ve been here. The syrup has definitely changed. Somewhat sugary with no flavor in my opinion. I noted how they are cutting corners with the styrofoam cups and I can imagine the syrup is also different. Great service though and hard working folks. Just do not care for the syrup.

Waited 45 minutes for 2 shaved ice. Not that hard to do. 3 cars ahead of us. Didnt even have that much flavor in them. NEVER going back.

Honestly my family and I love coming here, weve been since they opened, however long ago. But last night both my husband and my snow cones left a bad after taste in our mouths. Im not sure if they use purified water for their ice or not but it definitely tasted funky. Hopefully it was just a fluke because we love coming here on hot summer days and nights!!!!

Lots of options and great flavors. Pura vida is a unique business in the valley and we are fortunate to have them. My wife loves their Red Bull infusion drink and we all get the shaved ice. You can’t go wrong on a hot day.

Waited for over an hour to get 2 small shaved ice, also ordered an iced caramel macciato and I got iced milk! Also workers arent wearing any mask!! They are letting people go in without mask as well...worst experience....would not recommend to go there...definitely not returning.....

I wish I could give 0 stars. We were waiting in the drive through for 1 hour. We still didnt make it to the front with only 6 cars ahead of us. Do not go there unless youre willing to spend half your day waiting for ICE. ITS LITERALLY ICE. If anyone is in the store, they 1000% ignore drive thru customers. Not sure how people are rating them good when they have to wait hours for ice

*Update: I was contacted today by the owner Jill. I was met with the defense of her employee and she told me what had happened even though when I tried to explain what happened from my end, she let me know that she wasnt there and that is my perception. I was also made to know that only paying customers are allowed one water each and that they have homeless coming to get water and she has to pay for cups and if I could understand that? Now we look homeless? Then she also explained that they assumed we were all the same. Not sure what that implies. That she said she understands being a Mother but that she always made sure to have water for her own kids in the car. There was 6 of us in our party, we paid separately and even made multiple purchases during that visit. Not until after my friend bought kettle corn did her children ask for water to which they were told no. The employee Sarah said to Jill we had gotten 5 cups and they were busy and we were in and out. Even if that was true being 6 of us we were at least entitled to 1 more cup. We only asked for 2 and made sure to wait for no cars in their drive thru line before asking for water. Jill made it very clear the kids that work there arent rude as she trains them herself. I had to reiterate that I am there multiple times a week and this is the first issue Ive had otherwise she would have heard from me before. She apologized finally and asked me what I wanted? A gift card, shaved ice? Free product?... I said nothing. The way my friends children were treated and myself tonight over the phone I will not be back. You dont treat people that way especially when theyve been loyal.*I loved coming here but depending on whose shift it is your service will suffer. Ive had 2 experiences now that Im very upset about. The most recent one being that my friend and I brought our little ones to play and talk and theyre running around outside playing and we keep buying more and more having a great time. I have my daughter get two cups of water for my toddler and myself. But she was meant with a bit of attitude, now my friend sent her daughter in after buying kettle corn for water. She was told no. I said well maybe wait after their drive thru got smaller. She goes in and she was told no water for free. Shocked I went in and asked and Sarah told us that they already gave us 2 cups and she will have to charge us a dollar. Mind you there was 6 of us and we all bought multiple items over the period of 2 hours and have only gotten to 2 cups of ice water. I asked her how the owner Jill would feel about this and said Jill doesnt let them give out free water. I contacted Jill and havent heard anything. Im so sad I loved going here but I dont feel welcome anymore and my heart is broken. I hope one day we are able to return. We went at least 2 times a week...

I have recently started coming here and I love it! Sometimes the lines can be long, but its honestly worth the wait. They are so fast at getting people in and out of the drive thru. Theres usually two girls who take my order I have not gotten their names, but they are very nice every time i go. I came here at 7:49 on Sunday (8/23) to pick up some shaved ice and the person who took my order (I believe his name was Bob) as well as everyone else inside making the food were NOT wearing masks whatsoever. I asked if they were required to wear masks and was met with the question “Would you like us to wear one?” The staff was extremely rude about the issue and when they did put the masks on at my request, they either were worn below their chin or did not even cover their noses.

Very disappointed. Not sure whats changed but I used to love coming here to order the horchata shaved ice. When I used to order it, it came with cinnamon on top and sweet cream. Last time it didnt have sweet cream so I asked about it this time. I was told I need to ask for that if I want it. When I got it, it didnt have cinnamon on it either, apparently I have to ask for that as well. Those are the flavors that are needed for horchata. I also asked for ice cream. There was barely any at the bottom of the cup. They skimped on the flavoring and it tasted mostly like ice.

Friendly service through the drive through! Even though Pura Vida is known for their shaved ice, they do have some coffee drinks available. Got myself an iced mocha. Price was reasonable, coffee is exactly what I asked fore and service was good! I recommend this place and would come back!

The atmosphere is great. They even have fun table to keep the kids entertained. The portions of the shaved ice were great but everyone in my party said that they skimped on the flavoring and the shaved ice tasted like just ice :/. Next time I guess well ask for more flavoring. We love this place! The line was fairly long but they got through it quick.

The service was very quick and it tasted very good. They are reasonably priced and I am happy to say that I will be coming back. The flavor I got was a sugar free tigers blood which was perfect for my craving of shaved ice while I am on the keto diet. I also appreciated the great customer service I received.

So, Im going to have to provide a disclaimer before my review...my husband and I are on a diet and cannot have added sugars, calories, etc. So we ordered from their sugar free menu - I got blue raspberry and lime, he got pineapple and tigers blood. It wasnt very good, I still ate some but was not happy with it and barely finished a third of it. Each flavor didnt taste even close to what it was supposed to be. I will likely have a higher rating when I can come back post-diet. Until then I will not return for their sugar free offerings.

I cannot believe that this place doesnt have a review yet. Its fantastic!!! Its a shaved ice, iced coffee, hot beverage, kettle corn kind of place. The have an expansive selection of syrups for youre Shaved Ice of choice and are VERY generous with the amount they give to you. Their Kettle Corn is top notch! The staff is amazing and always greets you with a smile! Family owned shop that provides amazing food and amazing services.

This place is great! I got the tigers blood mixed with sour cherry and it was scrumptious, not to mention very authentic and flavorful syrups. My only complaint is that both flavors are meant to have a sour taste or “tang” to them, and in both flavors it was quite weak. So that was disappointing. Other than that it is wonderful :)

This place is awesome, my daughter found it for the kettle corn for her baby shower,its one of those places that is a brilliant success waiting to be discovered. I think that some more and strategic advertising is just what is needed. The staff is friendly and professional. The location is terrific and the parking is as good as it gets.

The staff were very polite. I eat sugar free as much as possible so I was relieved to see the sugar free options. The sugar free syrups were a little lacking in flavor but thats expected. It was a great place and I will definitely be going again.

So was out and about and my ol eagle eyes spotted this place. The staff was friendly and helpful, they have sugar free options, coffee options, smoothie options and if you like energy drinks they have those options as well. Therere MULTIPLE Sizings for you to choose from. We had the child size and I think it was pretty big for their smallest size. The treat was lite not heavy, the ice was completely coated in flavour, I chose the Pineapple and Tigers blood from their sugar free options. You can pick up to three flavours as well. Brought back memories of when I was younger and would go to the park with my family and mom would buy us kids a shaved ice cone. This time time I returned the favour. Will go back again! Definitely!

Always great! The best (really only) shaved ice around but they do it right. The ice is soft with a nice selections of flavors though some lack that real intense fruit flavor I would like and instead just come across as generic sweet. The lime and blue raspberry are my favs.
