This restaurant has two locations. Matthews (Austin village) and Indian Trail (sun valley). While I live 1 minute from the Matthews location, I drove 12 minutes to go to Indian trail as its nicer, newer, and much cleaner.Pros: great bagels, great prices for the breakfast, decent space indoors, large patio outside, extended deck with benches overlooking the little reservoir pond outside, great hours (open early and on holidays). Love the tuna/chicken salad on a bagel with the macaroni salad on the side.Cons: service (think no soup for you), never masked during pandemic (either location), charge $0.25 for refills, up charge 4% but discount if using cash (definitely skirting that credit card rule), bugs (gnat/fruit fly) in the desert case today (though they do have a 96% sanitation score). For these reasons I usually wouldnt return but damn these bagels are good (hence 3 stars).

Its the closest thing I have seen to a NY deli so far in the Carolinas. They offer many different bagels which are very descent in taste. Additionally, they also sell deli meats, really good cream cheese and other deli items. The service was great and the sweets were tasty. I would definitely go again.

Forget the fact that they have amazing bagels! Forget that you can get incredible sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. Forget that you can get an actual Lox and Cream Cheese on an Everything! YOU CAN GET COOKIES THE SIZE OF YOUR HEAD! That is what you should remember. Pastries, a case of pastries... and Cream Cheese... A CASE OF PREMADE, BETTER THAN ANYTHING, FLAVORED CREAM CHEESE!

Stupendous! Love the food quality (ESPECIALLY the eclairs!!), And the people who work there are really nice! They provide great service as well. Definitely recommend this for your choice lunch or dinner. ;)

Love the food, HATE the service and attitudes! Family is sick so I didnt need/want to go stand inside for 20 minutes so I went online to place an order but the system was down. I called, lady answered and put me on hold. Could hear her tell her co-worker I needed to place an order. She then came back to the phone and said we dont accept orders over the phone to which I replied but I cant order online and then explained the situation. She just kept saying We cant take phone orders.... In the time she argued with me she couldve taken my order!! Whats the deal SV? So, I went online and ordered from the Weddington location....Intold you the food was good!

All the perks of a hip city coffee shop plus all the charm of a small town family diner. They will make custom sandwiches or put fried eggs on the side for us. Good to pick up quickly or sit down and eat. MUCH better than the Panera down the street, plus its a local business! Weve been here a few times and will keep coming back!

Poor service- was left un-greeted for a solid 10 minutes. Breakfast bagel was bland and dry.

This place is excellent, they remain me the bagels from NY. Also the coffee is the best and we don’t have to spend a high price for the coffee like we used to.We’re very happy enjoying our breakfast at this location.

Do not expect a friendly interaction with the staff here. Very rude with super bad attitudes. If they get something you order wrong, they will blame the mistake on you. They also coughed on my food. They really need to learn how we treat others in the south or go back to NY. ✌️

Wow! On a rainy, cold Sunday we were between hockey games and needed good coffee and hoped for a bagel (or something close). The ladies here not only make real bagels but they are a real deli! The food was fantastic and the coffee was good too. Go....seriously, go here.

Nobody seems required or expected to wear a mask! And if they have one its no over their nose. I know youve lost precious business for this. Why not have some empathy for fellow human beings? Especially when youre open and dont offer curbside, forcing patrons to come into a place where your employees are inconsiderate enough not to wear a mask to their job.... making food. I feel like this place is just a contribution to herd immunity.

I am so glad i HAVE NEVER came to at at this place. I walked in and only one girl had a mask on properly! Thankfully she was the one that made the order i was picking up. I understand that you have employees that have health issues but you are working with food! That is disgusting! There was a lady with a nose barley over her mouth and then an older lady with red hair that was handling food right in front of me with NO mask whatsoever, They were rude when i let them know that i would make sure to let my coworker know to eat at her own risk because they were not being safe.

Love Poppyseed Bagels SunValley .. The food is yummy, prices are not bad . I love the French toast bagel toasted with 2 eggs and cream cheese on the side. They give you plenty of cream cheese . So good for 2.75.

Rubbery Bagels!When I walked in I was excited because it smelled so good. Sadly, I was so disappointed. My order was on the wrong bagel. The bagels were so rubbery that we couldnt chew them. I had to throw out the 12 bagels I bought. :/

I love this place so much! they have some of the best bagels i’ve ever had. however i just had an experience where i came in and asked for a bagel with an egg and cream cheese. they told me they had just cleaned the grill so they couldn’t cook me and egg. from what i understand they close at 5pm i was there around 3:45pm. i told them that was alright i’ll just have the cream cheese then. a few moments later the second employee asked me if i wanted my bagel toasted to which i said ‘yes please!’ she replied ‘oh.. i was asking bc i just turned the toaster off’ ??? so my choices are either agree to it not being toasted or tell you to turn it back on which i’m not going to do. if you all actually close at 4pm please update ur google profile. otherwise refrain from having your staff beging closing an hour early. disappointing.

Overall, I love Poppyseed Bagels. The bagels are awesome. I always get the lox with tomato, red onion and capers with cream cheesed on an everything or garlic bagel. Yes, alot of flavors and I love every crumb. I also order the potato salad as my side and it is the best I ever had.My gripe isnt with the food, quality, service but with their lack of employees wearing masks. There was a sign on the door that mentioned not all of their employees wear masks due to health reasons. I thought that was nice that they mention that before going in so customers could make a decision of whether they want to go in or not. I chose to go in and saw three of the six employees not wearing masks which seemed very odd. Also, there was no attempt to mitigate the lack of masks. Ive been to multiple restaurants since COVID and every employee was either wearing a mask or a plastic face shield.The food is great but I cannot get over the carelessness of the masks situation and feel there are options for those who cannot wear masks.

I love it, they are always super helpful and careful about my order. My favorite thing to eat there is a French toast bagel with bacon, egg and cheese.

This was my first experience at this place because my friend brought me here. Me and my friend waited 15 minutes to get our order taken which was 2 bagels, bacon egg and cheese bagel and small potato salad. We waited 15 more minutes to get our food and then to realize all of our bagels were burnt. Overall experience wasn’t terrible but wouldn’t choose this place over others.

Absolutely terrible customer service. I walked in behind two customers. They were both taken care of. Apparently every single worker was working on food in the back because there was not a soul at the register. There was also only one table in the entire restaurant so I cant even blame this on a business rush. I waited some more while giving them the benefit of the doubt. I then waited more hoping they would come over after realizing I was still in line. I eventually left because I was apparently invisible to these three young ladies. Thanks but this location has lost my business.

Big fan of their Chestnut lane location but was glad they opened near Sun Valley as it’s easier to go there for me! Love their bagels and other sandwiches. Will be back often! Service can be spotty. Terrible, horrible customer service. There was no one in the store the girl behind the counter was too busy having a conversation with a man to even make eye contact with me or take my order. I waited for about 2 minutes when she asked the girl who was sweeping the floor to take my order. The guy she was talking to said, you could’ve at least taken her order, she said, no it’s fine she got her. Still no eye contact. Horrible customer service. Next time I’ll go across the street to the New York deli next to Sun Valley movie theater.

Bagels are good and the only place I have found bialys in many years. Decent variety, veggie cream cheese is good. Would not recommend rolls.

Often find that every single table is dirty even when there are only 1 or 2 tables seated. The quality and amount of delivered food is highly variable based on who makes it. They dont bother to take your name, so they just yell sir or maam over a room of people until the right customer looks up. To be honest, a lot of this reminds me of a NY restaurant, maybe theyre trying to recreate the experience.

This place has great bagels and food. Im not so sure about the new staff though in comparison to the original owners and staff of the Matthews location. I have also found some of them to be rude at times and also they seem to get annoyed if any modifications to menu items are made. Modifications was never a problem at the Matthews location. I still recommend them though and figure as they have expanded they are going through growing pains a bit with new staff the new staff may not be aware or trained on the other side of why the Matthews location was so successful. A hint for them to maybe improve this location: It is not just the food it was the friendly and helpful customer service and willingness to adapt to sandwich customizations to truly make what the customer wants. I should not have to feel like its a burden to make a tiny modification to a menu item or have half hearted jokes about it not being Burger King.

Use to be great but recent visits are terrible...2 weeks in a row no one even said a word and waited in line for several mins and people was leaving including me due to lack of customer service not even a word from behind counter.the guy behind the counter looked dirty and acted if he wished he wasnt there or to good to wait on people. the last time my order was terrible and undercooked bacon and they told me it was precooked anyway...really so it raw??it is a shame this place has gone down so bad to have been so good in the past.get some employees that care!hate this too as it can be alot better if owner took time to be on site at times to see where his customers are going...out the door and walking out due to poor customer service and food prep not great at times.

Terrible service,they have set back food service back to its infancy.The person that takes your order makes your food! They dont have a computer system that sends an order to the cooks! We received our order with wrong bagel,HOT orange juice,then completely frozen orange juice. When we attempted to right the wrong food that we received,it actually took longer than we waited for the original order. My observation is nobodys running the place. We wont be back,We wasted over an hour there for breakfast what should have been 30 min or less.

This was my favorite breakfast place until now. We ordered 4 breakfast specials. Took my parents for breakfast this morning to Poppy Seeds Bagels and my mother didn’t like one of the bagels. When asked to exchange the bagel for another one, the lady with the hair bun said she can’t exchange the bagel and we had to pay for another bagel. Once the new bagel came out my mother’s eggs were already cold. She didn’t even eat her food. Not a great experience at all.

Our order was given to the wrong person. We watch it happen and he was out the door before we realized it. When you place a HELP WANTED sign or NOW HIRING, sometimes it a death sentence.
