A quaint coffee shop for a quick bite of pastry while sipping on coffee. Theres limited seating and the tables are small with a sign laptop free. Latte art was very good and coffee wasnt too bad either.

Cool coffee spot to grab a tasty cup! Space is typically full, so this is more of a grab and go or sit for a few minutes and talk to a friend kind of café. Not a sit and work spot as you will see from the “laptop free” “share a seat with some one new” signs. I had a large oat latte which was delicious and I was pleasantly surprised with the heart art. I would definitely spot in again

Good cup of coffee with a good/knowledgeable staff. the shop creates its own little community in the mornings, dogs, neighbors, and friends sharing coffee together (well maybe not the dogs)

The Local... is a wonderful local, family owned coffee shop that has managed to survive the Covid-19 crisis, no easy feat for a small business. Come for the great coffee... take home some of the great pastries from other local bakeries too!

One of my favorite coffee shops in the area. I always try to stop by here anytime Im around. They make a great cup of coffee and have a fun rotation of pastries that I like to try sometimes.

Just like the name everything they sell is local.. which is great. BUT its pricey as heck! Paid about 50 bucks for 2 coffees, pastries and 2 bars of chocolates. And the taste is good but not great. Not sure if Ill be coming back, plus its hard to find parking.

I had a decaf ice coffee and a tahini cookie- a unique and delicious find! Local Coffee has a small menu of single origin coffees that gives me a west-coast-we-take-our-coffee-seriously vibe and I dig it. It’s a small spot with quick service and on trend decor. Overall an awesome spot for a quick recharge. I wouldn’t expect to stay incredibly long - just long enough to refuel.

This is “our spot” that we share with a lot of great locals. The first note is the coffee. The cold brew has ruined all others for me and has become the benchmark by which we measure all new shops. The owners are often active behind the counter and could not be more engaging and kind. You really do leave with a smile on your face and a great cup of coffee and a fresh made pastry delivered daily.

Nice decor and good treats but the coffee was mediocre at best.Edit: not sure how to respond to the reply by the owner but I was at this location (Watchung in Montclair) on Wednesday April 10th 2021.Additionally I paid by credit card (transaction id: CiwKI01TQy4xMzMwMDA2MzQzMy40MDg0MjQyODcwOTE...).I paid for a cortado, a latte, and a almond croissant.The cortado was over pulled and bitter. The croissant was excellent.My friend had the latte and seemed to enjoy it.

Great coffee and espresso drinks. I’m not too fond of the beans they use, but they still make a great drink. One thing they do well which a lot of coffee shops mess up on is layering the espresso drinks properly. They do it well here. When the milk is steamed and poured well, you get a great texture and even flavor throughout your drink...this is important, and their baristas know it.Comfortable place to sit and work. The baristas are very friendly!

I enjoyed the chai latte I got. One of the spicier ones Ive tasted in a good way. My friend got the matcha chai latte and she liked it as well. Its a tiny little spot but a really cool set up and vibe.

There are a lot of great options to get coffee in Montclair, but local coffee might be my new favorite cafe. the cashier and the barista/owner were so friendly, when they greet you its as if they were welcoming back an old friend. i was actually taken aback by how quickly my drinks came out and with pretty latte art...it seemed like a shame to put covers over them and carry it out lol. if youre looking for a lot of different flavors you might find their menu limited. however, this is a solid spot for cortados and other espresso drinks. hopefully this place will stay a local hidden gem for awhile.

I left Montclair after 11 years. Of all the things I miss - and there are so many - Local is at the top of the list. The Cinful Latte with oat milk. The warm vibe. The ever-changing art from local artists and photographers. Rob and the entire staff.

Okay this coffee shop is awesome. One of the best and most underrated things about it is THE MUSIC. They play the best music here. It’s honestly so refreshing and makes me choose this place time and time again over other coffee shops.

Consistently solid local coffee spot. They take it seriously, offering a welcoming clean environment paired with carefully-crafted coffee concoctions. Regularly stop in on visits to the Watchung area and never disappointed.

What a great coffee shop i discovered in the area. Great taste coffee bean and it was so good and a perfect match with cookies and croissants it was really the best. it was great place and worth to visit again with nice staff.

I have always loved this coffee shop but in our current situation ‘lockdown’ it has become invaluable. The owner and staff are so generous and kind and each time I’ve stopped in they’ve provided me such joy ! Thanks for behind such an important part of the community ♥️

I discovered this adorable coffee shop later than most, but I quickly became a fan. I love their coffee and even purchase the Irving Farm coffee they use to brew at home. I love to sit outside when weather permits and their pastries are delicious. Great scones, Almond croissants and molasses cookies! Congrats to the owners for creating such a happy nook in Montclair.

Cant say enough wonderful things about this place and the staff! Aside from the very solid coffee, tea, and pastries, Local stands out in so many great ways. If youre the type of person who sticks to the same order, theyll know it off the top of their heads within a few visits. If you tend to mix it up day to day, theyve good solid advice on what you might enjoy trying. The mix of laptop-friendly tables and laptop-free tables is a nice touch, and fits well with the sense of community that the place and its staff foster, along with pieces around the shop from local artists. While the shop is relatively small and can get crowded, Ive never seen a line get noticeably backed up, which speaks to both the staffs familiarity with their customers and their drink-making skills. Furthermore, if tables are filling up, the staff and customers are always more the happy to help rearrange seating to make some space for those just arriving. Additional bonus points for a solid sense of humor (the musings on the sign are always entertaining), a good mix of music, and keeping treats on hand for any canine passerby. Having grown up in the area and recently returned, Local reminds me of all the sorts of staple spots around town that become a fond part of so many peoples day-to-day routines.

Awesome local (pun intended) spot. Their espresso is expertly brewed with no trace of bitterness. Fun, crafty rotating drinks each month and solid pastries (almond flour based from a local shop or completely gluten-filled from famous patisseries) available to enjoy with your awesome coffee.

This place is very nice. The coffee is very delicious with pretty creams art in cup. My favourite sweet is something like flapjack, with lots of seeds for gluten free diet.

Ive been looking for a local coffee store that makes coffee out of quality coffee beans and I came across Local Coffee. When I entered the place, I could tell from the smell that this place makes great coffee! I can guarantee you will taste one of the best coffee there. They make great cappuccino and they have nice filtered coffee as well. They have DELICIOUS almond croissant, you must try it. As usual, local coffee stores are always more expensive than chains but its worth it. Never compare between such quality coffee shop and the commercial brands; the coffee you will get here is the real coffee. In general, this is the best coffee spot I found in the area.

This is the real deal, this place has got it all right! Definitely the best spot in Montclair. High-quality coffee, pastries are very very good (gluten free, almond flour, etc.), espresso is always on point and my go-to, a cappuccino, never disappoints. The spot is small and cozy but thats what makes it so welcoming. The owners and baristas are so friendly too! It really just brightens my day when I go there. Parking is really not that bad either. If the circle by the train station is full, there are un-metered residential streets a few hundred feet away. You wont regret the short walk!

Great coffee and good company make this an outstanding addition to Montclair and to Watchung Plaza. A modern and light filled cafe with a neighborhood feel, Local is an antidote to the generic Starbucks experIence. While these folks clearly care about their coffee, there isnt a hint of urban snootiness--only friendliness from behind the counter.
