Was impressed with the guy who was running this place when we stopped in. I was looking for a biking backpack and he was quite knowledgeable on the bags they had and helped me figure out what I was looking for. Had some good advice on what to get as well. Will definitely be back!

Amazing place. Went for a specific item and they didn’t have a good selection. They recommended another store close by that had a good selection of what I needed. This was good ‘ol fashion integrity and service! I’ll definitely be back!

Good products and selection--even several items you dont often find at a locally-owned store. There are shirts, coats, pants, shorts, footwear, accessories, camping and climbing gear, drink bottles, and sleeping bags, among other items. I bought one of my favorite shirts for hiking, an Outdoor Research merino wool 1/4-zip neck, on sale here. The store has competitive prices, and a very friendly staff!

Truly a great outdoors store with a very good selection. The owner & employees are very friendly and helpful. Great place, they might be small but they carry a lot of the essentials of the highest quality and excellent prices. The owner Steve helped me pick out a kayak and paddle. This is the only dedicated outdoor recreation store in Montrose and they carry everything from footwear to tents to kayaks. The prices are on the high end but that is to be expected. The employees are always available and knowledgeable.

Stopped in to find a pack for hiking. I had been to multiple stores with no luck finding something that would fit my needs & my small frame. Within 15 minutes I was in & out with a backpack that is super comfortable & a reasonable price. They even had ready made weights to place in the packs you try on do you know how it will feel with your gear inside. Thanks so much!

Steve was very helpful (and thorough) describing the local geography and suggesting a set of maps to suit my needs.The clothing section is stuffed with gear. I mean a seriously great selection of top brands.Kayaks, tents, camping gear... Theres a little bit of everything. A friendly informative staff, and good prices. Right in the center of town!

This is a great outdoor local shop. I purchased some awesome womens hiking boots (the owner even suggested a different color wool socks that I hadnt seen that matched my hiking boots better), a mens OR lite jacket, and several Woolrich clothing items. Very helpful, friendly service. Broke my boots in the first day, they rock!

Need new outdoor gear in Montrose? This should be stop number one. Great selection of coats, footwear, camping equipment and backpacks. I really love their random table of highly-discounted, returned gear. They also carry SUPs and sleeping bags. Its very similar to an REI.

I was looking for a solution to a snapped tent pole. They had a repair kit in store, which would have probably worked but would have been overkill for what I needed. Instead of letting me buy this, I was suggested to try the nearby hardware store, where I found a cheap solution. Clearly customer satisfaction was more important than profit, something that is rarely found these days. Thanks!

We got stranded in Montrose for several days waiting on a part to fix our car. What started as a hiccup in our plans, became the most unique experience. We had to check out the local gear shop, and not only did we find a great store with the product we are so familiar with, but we were treated like old friends. If you need some gear, or if youre just passing through and need a suggestion on where to visit, I highly recommend checking this place out!

If in Montrose, Colorado, go take a look. Just got the most amazing Merrell hiking boots. Customer service is phenomenal.

This place is just marvelous. I have had bad experiences with Hypoxia on the corner of mainstreet and Townsend Ave. especially with the disappointment of an owner there. But, this place has great quality clothes and also great prices.

Wow...the lady (older) was super unhelpful and rude...was gabbing on the phone pretty loudly about some super depressing deaths and illnesses in the area the whole time then moved on to talk about dental procedures...only asked once do you need something or....? - then didnt even wait for my answer before moving on to some other bs on the phone...What the hell is with the Montrose retail scene?

Although they did not carry what I was looking for (Alpine skiing) they were extremely helpful and directed me to another store that did. If you are looking for cross country or snow shoeing this is the place to go.
