Found this gem on way to SJ airport, not being from area we relied on reviews and menu sounding good.Awesome food, friendly staff and great service. Pulled pork was moist and the “hog wash” that accompanied it was a nice, different dipping sauce. The tri-tip was perfectly smoked and tender, not needing any BBQ sauce! Both were served as a sandwich on garlic bread roll. I’m craving more just writing this review, definitely will be going back.
Stopped by because my friends and I were craving some brisket! Lots of side street parking but once you get to the storefront theres just one window to order from. The line was about 5 parties deep but you could scan the QR code on the wall to check out the menu while you waited. Staff was really friendly and especially dog friendly which from a new puppy owner is a huge plus. For 5 hungry people we ordered 2lb of brisket, a family pack of ribs, TRI tip and hot links with a couple sides of Mac n cheese and potato salad. This. Was. A ton. Of. Food. But it was soooo good. We all took home a little bit of everything because try as we might, it was so much meat. But so damn good. Definitely get the brisket, ribs and links- all had great flavor!
Ok, I am torn here. Great meats but sides ruined the whole experience. There was a big sign saying Ask about our Mac n cheese or something like that. After I got my order and tried it, I definitely have a lot of questions to ask your chef. Take a look at the picture. You have to have sick imagination to call this substance Mac n Cheese. It was mushy, overcooked, pale as death, pasta product. Cheese sauce? There was not even a hint of cheese or whatever was used as cheese doesnt meet the definition of it. I would expect to get something like that in a facility run by infamous sheriff Arpaio. Please Google Mac and cheese recipe and stop reinventing a wheel. Or order bagged precooked one. It still will taste better than this. Now, lets move on to coleslaw. My girlfriend said it best It tastes like garnish. Tasteless, dry, grass mass with zero flavor. Cows would appreciate it but I am not a cow.It was not meant for human consumption. Thats for sure. Meats were great 👍. We had ribs and chicken and both were solid, fresh and tasty. Waitress said everything smoked same day except the brisket. It was two days old and they were out.The restaurant is clean, friendly staff. Great concept with walk in window. I would love to give 5 stars but still cant get over those sides. The contrast between quality of meats and sides is just too striking. I will definitely give it another try to taste other meats, maybe just got there on wrong day. 3 stars stand for now.
We stopped here for lunch and had some great barbeque. They offer everything from combo platters, to just meat (and lots of it), to small plates that give you a perfect mix of main entree and sides. The small portion of brisket + 2 sides is perfect for folks wanting to leave and still fit in your jeans. The standard plates dont skimp on savory options. The chicken is tender and moist, the pulled pork is delightful, and the brisket is a stand out. Regardless of the hunger levels of your group, this place will satisfy everyone.
One of the best barbecue sauces around! Their brisket and pulled pork are just perfectly seasoned and cooked! Service was very friendly too!
Stopped by here Friday night and loved it! We ordered 2 adult entrees, 2 kids entrees, and 2 drinks and it only came to 70! We got so much food and you cannot beat that for the price.I ordered the tri-tip sandwich on garlic bread. Best sandwich ever! My husband got the meat combo of ribs and tri-tip. The ribs were better than any place weve tried previously. The kids food was super good too and the homemade macaroni and cheese was heaven! The outdoor dining set up is super adorable. They also offered heating lamps for the chilly weather. The service was very friendly. The server made she to ask us our sides and sauces and was attentive to what we wanted.
Good ribs. Full rack not as full as some places by count but probably by portion. Ill probably pass on the loaf of garlic bread next time, but well see how my son likes it tonight. Nice staff, quick. Will be back.
We drive up from Monterey County periodically for lunch. The food and service is very good. Besides indoor service,, they have tables outside along the sidewalk & have added bench seating where the driveway was. Access the parking off of the side street The outdoor seating in front is close to the street, occasionally there is foot traffic and they have good music for listening pleasure. We prefer the outside seating.
Food was delicous and the service was friendly. Get there early! They run out of the good stuff well before close.
Very tasty meats. Probably the best brisket and fall off the bone ribs Ive had in a long time / outside of Texas. We had garlic bread, Mac and cheese and beans. The beans were tasty but the garlic bread wasnt really garlicky. The Mac and cheese was pretty good though. Definitely coming back
Went with a bunch of my friends, ordered a large and complicated order of various meat platters, and our food was still ready extremely fast. The meat platters were all fantastic - in particular, the pulled pork and the chicken breast were particularly delicious. The beer menu is also excellent, with a couple dozen options of local craft beers on tap.
BBQ was good, side dishes were not very flavorful especially the mac and cheese. We spent 85 dollars on three sandwiches that came with a small side dish. They charged us for a bottle of BBQ sauce because we asked for both spicy and medium BBQ sauce on the side.
Not as good as pre- covid. Menu was smaller. No steaks or bake potatoes. Out of my favorite pulled pork. I had the brisket and it was just ok. Sorry.
BBQ was fine. Nothing to right home about, but probably the best bbq in Morgan Hill. Disappointingly lacking in smoky BBQ flavor.
Loved the food, better than Smoking Pig IMHO... looking forward to a return someday.
It was very crowded on Saturday evening, but its always worth the wait. The brisket and spicy BBQ sauce are my favorites. They also have an excellent selection of beer.
An amazing experience, good food and drinks but it was the staff that made this so quaking for our family. Good attitudes, smiles and engaged with us and the kids, Thank You Trail Dust Staff
The cowgirl plate did not filled me up and they did not had a real American dessert like the Key Lime Pie that any real cowboy would like to eat.
My partner and I both love getting our sandwiches from here. Super easy to order online and pick up or sit outside and eat. The food is delicious. So far I have tried the Tri tip, pulled pork, grilled cheese, and Mac and cheese. I love it. We both love it. I remember when Covid hit, there would be a long line outside their window. Now, we finally ate outside in the patio and it was awesome! Lemonade is also good. Definitely a must if you’re a meat lover.BTW, I prefer mild sauce and my partner likes their spicy sauce.
The bbq sauce is a house recipe that comes in spicy and regular. Their sides are good too. Outdoor seating is available.
Enjoyed my favorite, the pulled pork sandwich. Tender, juicy flavorful meat, drowned in their fantastic hogwash, on garlic bread. Just cant be beat. Add a great craft beer, and Im was in hog heaven
We got the tri-tip and barbecue pork sandwiches and they were delicious! The cornbread and mac and cheese were also excellent. We also used the changing table in the right restroom. And its nice that the food comes out fast.
Highly recommend! Great place to visit if youre in Morgan Hill or just passing through. Tri tip sandwich was very tasty...ask for a side of the mild BBQ sauce along with the spicy. Friendly staff too!
Brought a few team members here while travelling on business. The meat is still just as good as it was a year and a half ago during my last visit. The sides were not so good and I honestly do no blame the restaurant. Due to restrictions and still having indoor dining closed everything is served in to go style and that appears to have impacted the quality of the sides. Mac n cheese and potato salad were a little bland.
Great bbq at an ok price, great outdoor seating.
This a nice place the food was good they have outside seating its covered that was nice too.
The best tri tip and ribs my husband loves the chicken so tender and moist. Smoky flavor in all meats with delicious big garlic bread. I order extra garlic on mine yummy!
Food was amazing as usual. The first come first served table idea is a downer..groups of people holding tables while one person stands in line to order...or people ordering to go holding the table just so they can sit and wait for their food. .. so me and my daughter wanting to sit wasnt an option since shes a toddler and I had to stand in line to order. Standing to eat with a toddler isnt ideal either. Next time Ill choose a different place. Getting back in line to get another drink wasnt an option either and since servers werent taking orders.. not super helpful to someone who isnt out meeting groups of people for lunch or dinner
One of the best places to eat in Morgan Hill. Prices are decent for the amount of food given. Service is always great as well. Love the pulled pork and Mac and cheese.
First time here after hearing all the rave about it. Let me say this. The meat is cooked to perfection. I absolutely loved it. I got the 4 meat combo with brisket, tri tip, ribs, and chicken. Unfortunately the sides were a let down. The Mac and beans werent my taste. The garlic bread didnt have enough garlic and the berry cobbler wasnt a favorite either. But the meat tho lol.
Had pulled pork, beans, potato salad and a slice of garlic toast. Washed it down with one of the many selections of beers available. Everything was delicious. The pork was tender and juicy, not dry. Prices were reasonable. They do not take reservations, so there may be a wait on busy nights (worth waiting!) and you may need to make use of the large nearby parking structure. A really fun place, friendly attentive service, and some truly good BBQ.
This place is awesomely good, I’ve had every bbq sandwich, a little $$, but so is McDonald’s, don’t know why anyone would go to McDonald’s though when you can have Trail Dust. I always go here when In the area.
I had the BBQ chicken (sm) with the side of coleslaw with that cornbread and BBQ chips my husband had the barbecued ribs and the garlic bread as usual we love it. We sat out front it was a little noisy but not bad. Just wish the person next door business wouldnt blow their dust around. That was the only downfall.
Solid bbq. The sauce is great, I love to tri-tip although it can be a little chewy the flavor is spot on. Try the potato salad too.
The tri tip sandwich was good but over priced! The pulled pork sandwich was terrible. It wasvery dry and stringy. The sauce that came with itwas not good and did not helpthe sandwich. I ended up throwing most of it away!
Fantastic, tender brisket. Not a fan of the bbq sauces.
Fantastic bbq everytime!Thanks!
Still love the food after many years of coming here.
Great service. Food was fantastic.
Excellent! Put this place on your list.
Great service, but the portions are really small for the price, especially for the price. I ordered brisket, I only got 4 very small pieces and 50% was fat. so in all I only got 8 smals bites of meat, literally. the sides are super tiny cups too. The cole slaw was bland, potatoe salad was different, just ok.
I bought a tri tip sandwich with two sides and garlic bread. Getting the good stuff out of the way the staff were excellent and the meat was outstanding. Really fast and friendly service for sure! My issues come with the beans, potato salad and garlic bread which were my sides. The beans were somehow bland despite being soaked in too sweet of sauce and seasoning to the potato salad was far too little. Being next to the garlic capital of the world you’d think the garlic bread would be amazing. Overall good but I’m going to choose different sides.
One of my favorite spots, hands down! The prices for amount of food you get are a bargain! I can only attest to the sandwiches from here since I’m always picking up food to eat on the go, and these are some of the best BBQ sandwiches I’ve ever had. I’ve never had a bad experience at this restaurant. The staff is courteous, the service is fast, and back when they had indoor dining, the place was always clean. Their desserts are also delicious and this is always a great spot for lunch.
This place has great bbq! Now in all honesty, their side dishes are barely edible and completely lacking in flavor. So as long as your just looking for the bbq, then you scored, but forget the sides!
Absolutely DELICIOUS! I got some pulled pork, and smoked chicken- the pork for dinner, the chicken for meal prep (🤫) certainly hits the spot every single time
5 stars wouldnt be enough. If I could give them 10 stars, they are deserving of even more! Fantastic quality for an amazing price. Highly recommend them. Locally owned and operated. They also have a BBQ place in Gilroy I hear. We will try them one day. But for now these guys are our local BBQ go-to place.
The food was decent. The ribs were a bit dry and had more fat than meat.
Came here on a Tuesday night (they do not have Brisket on Tuesday nights). They also were out of pulled pork and tri-tips this night. So I ordered the 1/4 chicken which was surprisingly good. It was nice and tender. The BBQ sauce in the red bottle was the best as, it has a little kick to it that kind of sneaks up on you. The beans didn’t taste good I was expecting bbq beans they tasted like chili beans with some sort of seasoning on it. The service was ok, had to flag our waiter down just to ask for a refill. Wasn’t anything spectacular.
Some of the sides were terrible. Mac and cheese seemed like macaroni from a box with melted shredded cheese, baked beans were beans heated up in BBQ sauce, but potato salad was pretty good. Ribs, tri tip, and chicken were above average for California standards.
If youre into eating meat, this is the place to go...
Got family meal pack #5. We drove 30 mins to go get the take out order, by the time we got home the food was still warm and delicious. Ribs were falling off the bone, chickens were falling off the bone, and tri-tip was tender. Having a pint of their bbq sauce didnt hurt either. The chicken salad could use a little more love but over all enjoyed the meal.
Ive visited BBQ place from Seattle to St George Utah and OMG trail dust is the best hands down. The girls working the window are friendly, you can see their smiles in their eyes lol
Excellent!! Great food and even better service!
Best BBQ this side of the Mississippi!
Service and food always amazing.
This might just be my favorite Bar-B-Que spot. Lately the beer choices have been a bit hit and miss but in the past it’s had some great breweries on tap. The beer list changes regularly so I’m not worried. The bbq is so tender and full of flavor. Cannot recommend enough if you are looking for excellent smoked meat and cold beer to satisfy your craving.
Overall was a ok experience. The food wasnt that great. Plus we werent given our sides. Also ordering on site can be confusing. Plus the menu isnt updated often, so the beers we wanted werent in stock.
Super BBQ with an assortment of goodies, excellent waiters and employees
Great flavor food but the portions are tiny especially for the price. Side dish of mac and cheese and potatoe salad not served in thier own plastic thimble might have been good size for a two year old but even he would be asking for more. For the price they are charging you would think they could load you up on the sides and make sure you feel full afterwards.
Good bbq. Excellent service!
Had to fight with a fly for my lunch.
They run out of food all the time and never tell you until you get there to pick it up. Wasted so much time waiting and then you get there and they say oh yeah we’re sold out. Poor planning and lack of communication.
Ordered take out...Food was yummy, perfect in every way!
Excellent food and amazing service!
Food was amazing and the service was perfect.
Good food, great service
My wife wanted BBQ for Valentines day so who Im to argue. We both went with the 2 meat plate she had chicken and brisket and I had ribs and pulled pork so we get to sample 4 different meats. Chicken was flavorful and juicy, the rest was tender and so look good. Good portions we brought some home along with the berry cobbler. Will have to wait till later for that.
Over priced, dry chicken my first time there. The second They had only two choices pork or a $52 steak. Better get there before they run out of most things on the menu
Corn bread needs some help, but the BBQ and their sauce are always on point.
Best hot bbq sauce out there. Brisket and chicken really good. Very nice people.
They were quick ..efficient..polite.The food as usual.
The BEST bbq in town. Very flavorful and moist. They have outdoor seating during covid.
Make sure to go early to get the full menu. Like any great BBQ place that smokes meat all day, when theyre out of something, theyre out.
Great BBQ! My husbands from Texas and he was impressed! It took a bit for things to come out, but thats because it actually involved cooking the food, so in my books that was a positive. My husband and I shared the brisket and the baked potato and then tried the berry cobbler for dessert. Phenomenal. Restaurant had cute decor as well.
Took a while to review but this is a good bbq. A little busy but worth it. Yummy
Great beers. Good bbq.
No they overcharge you when you use a credit they tipped their self
Excellent food, even better service. Friendly team willing to go the extra mile, with a smile.
My husband and I stopped here to get out of the maddening traffic on the 101 around 5pm on a Wednesday. It was almost empty but filled up fast. We considered it well worth the detour (about 5 min). We had the smoked chicken with a fresh side salad, baked beans and bread (cornbread for me, garlic bread for the hubby). We finished with the homemade cobbler filled with seasonal berries and topped with vanilla ice cream. It was all quite delicious and the service was great.
Fast service, very friendly employees!
This place is wonderful. Such a fun atmosphere and delicious food. I had the pulled pork sandwich and I can only describe it as sublime. If you are ever in the area, its so worth going. However, the place is not very big and can fill quickly so get there before the rush.
Real barbecue! Sides are delicious. Great experience. Try the tri-tip! The ribs are also great. Great ambiance as well. Im from the South and I know barbecue. This was such a great find. The staff is very professional and diligent!
Yummy tri tip and pork ribs, no barbecue sauce necessary.
Best BBQ in the South Bay- hands down
