I like MBS. They have a fairly comprehensive selection. The management means well, and the employees are, as everywhere, a mixed bag - but they all have their good points. The helpful ones that dont pretend to be experts are the best. If their prices are out of line, buy it somewhere else- they know their business and what they want to charge.

I hate that they are the only place here. They have very little and way expensive. The employees are also rude and make you feel stupid. Every little thing has an extra cost so ridiculous. Really miss Home Depot and Lowe’s.

Incredibly rude staff. They make me feel dumb every time I come in and ask for assistance they talk to me in a very condescending way. The management is also terrible and I often see them yelling at their employees for the most outrageous things. Do better.

We have trusted Moscow Building Supply with supplying both our new shop and home. So far very little has been furnished without a hitch. To name a few: lumber packages incomplete and incorrect. Window packages missing windows, etc. But the latest was the shop trim package for the windows, doors and baseboards. We were assured the finish would be as shown but it all arrived unfinished. We attempted contact with the manager. It took more than a month to catch him at the store. He NEVER tried to contact us. In the meantime we spent hours and hours finishing it ourselves. Not easy since we are still under construction. When we finally got to talk to him at the store today he said thats the way it comes and we got what we paid for. This was MISREPRESENTATION. Instead of owning the mistake and offering any discount or maybe pay for the finish products he just said too bad for you. I hope his boss knows that this kind of poor customer service will cost him business. We have dropped tens of thousands of dollars with these guys. He acts like they are the only option. They are not.

They always have what I need, although a bit on the expensive side. Very glad to have a local supply store with good stock.

The clerk was just rude. I think it’s because I was a lowly cash customer instead of contractor. Dangerous when picking up lumber! Had to find and carry myself. I’m not going back. I’ll get the rest for my project at Spence Hardware.

MBS is a great stop (especially for finish carpentry and plumbing trim out). I also have gotten many of my DeWalt tools here. Britnay is the best type of employee a company can have, and she’s not the only one. Lots of other people remember your name and ask how your day is/what you’re working on. Fun bunch of people!

If you need help to figure out the right parts for literally anything youre trying to put together, lets say a makeshift camping shower, makeshift hot tub, or even turning a ceiling light into a plug in light, these people are the best.I went in on the 4th of July needing some pipe glue and the cans require a tool to open.I went to theservice counter next to the plumbing section and asked him to open it you couldnt find the right there so he literally walked all over the store looking for the right tool Im very appreciative. Everybody there is always on top of everything. if they dont know it they go and find somebody else who does know it they also hire people who actually know what theyre talking about unlike Tri-State where they make you feel guilty for even asking a question. Moscow building supply actually encourage it.

Very thankful for a store where the employees seek to help customers and have the capacity to do so. The zombie alternative stinks... MBS’s selection is impressive, the staff promptly assist patrons, and the store layout is beautiful. Moscow building supply is the best hardware store in the area in my opinion. There are several reasons I say this. The first and main reason is price because no one can beat them on any product price such as electrical or any other thing. They offer huge variety, especially their lumber. Renting equipment can be a bit pricey, however it is well worth it. The employees literally seek you out and help you with just about anything. Its quite funny actually because if you are found alone especially in the warehouse they run on over to help you find what you need. They are good with offering advise especially when it comes to finishing products. They take good care of the equipment they rent out so when you go to use the machines they run smoothly with no problems. One of my favorite things about this place is that they have a contractors department where you can receive specialized tips as well as back orders on any items they dont carry.

I just had one of the worst rental experience I have ever had. Had to wait for two days for my scheduled rental time (that was ok). Call to check before going to the store. Talked to a person, but the item was not available for pick up (not their fault). They were going to check on why not, (this is where things started to go wrong) I had to call again later to get an update. Talked to the same person, the item had still not returned. So they were going to check again and to see if it was not back. If it wasnt they would give me a substitute. I called again to get the substitute product. This time I just got voicemail, so waited some more, called again and got more voicemail. Called general service desk, voicemail there too. After an hour and a half, I called a real rental company and had what I needed in 20 minutes. MBS never returned a single one of my 5 calls.

Good place over all. Employees are usually very helpful and polite. Some are amazingly helpful, knowing exactly what you need even if you cant explain it well yourself. I bought a fixer-upper and have needed lots of advice over the past year.I only say usually very helpful because a couple of times Ive interacted with employees who seem kind of disinterested. Thankfully, this type is more of the exception than the rule.Theyre not perfect, but Im happy to shop here regularly.

Love our hometown hardware store. Employees are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. When I did my first floor tile job, I started to ask questions about what theyd recommend for an underlayment, and they showed me my 2 options & made a recommendation then explained all the rest of the products Id need and how to use them. Cant beat that! We are fortunate to have them here.

I have rented a number of excavators from Moscow Building Supply over the years and the machines are always clean and in good working order. Ive had no problems and very pleased with their service. Delivery is on time and friendly people to work with. The best place in Moscow for your building supplies and rental equipment in my opinion.

I am a contractor who Just moved to the area last year, Its a pretty decent place that has everything a guy needs to contract out his services. I now understand why people are paying so much for home improvements. At first I thought, these contractors are fleecing these poor people, But I get it now.. MBS is the only game in town. I just adjusted my prices up to everyone else, and I seem to be doing fine this year.. I suppose as long as Lowes or home depot stays out of the market, things will continue to do well for them..

The other day (Sunday) I decided to work on some things around the house I just purchased so I Googled hardware store in Moscow and the very first place that popped up was Moscow Building Supply. So seeing a couple other stores even closer I thought you know, Ill start at the furthest one away and work my way home.Moscow Building Supply is the only place I will go period! The staff was so amazing and helpful, everyone was happy to have me as their customer, I almost felt like they knew me. As soon as I walked in they greeted me with a good morning and not even 15 feet in the door someone asked me if I needed help finding anything and I was so astonished that I was asked. I always have had to be the one to ask for assistance but not here!I felt so welcome here it made my week. The four people that helped me were so polite and caring, Einar in hardware, Clay in the warehouse, Chad in electrical and Terry at the service counter. They were all so respectfully helpful and wanting to help me. No matter what I will always be happy to stop and shop at Moscow Building Supply.I will say that the prices are a little high but their customer service is top notch. I honestly cant say enough how impressed I am with this store, there really is no other place like it anywhere. I really want to say something about the electrical employee, he was amazing. I will say that Ive always been petrified about electricity but Chad was my knight in shinning armor. He made me feel so comfortable that after I got my things for the electrical job (which I was NOT going to do myself, I was going to higher an electrician for) I needed done I went straight home and literally after about 30 minutes I got 5 outlets working that didnt when I purchased this house.All these employees that helped were very knowledgeable and had great suggestions to help with my projects and Im happy this hardware store is just across town.Thank you so much Moscow Building Supply for being who you are and who you have. The employees are the spark that make this place amazing.

If you are picking up stuff from the loading area be sure you count how many of a product you are getting. Also make sure they have gotten everything on the slip you have payed for . I payed for two sheets of sheetrock and two sticks or cornering . Apparently the employees helping load it could not count to 2 and cannot read inventory slips. He was going to short me a sheet of sheet rock and did short me one peice out of two cornering. Next time I will make a mental note to babysit while they load everything. Most of their employees arev nice and try to be helpful but not being able to properly read and load a simple inventory slip is very disappointing .

The prices are high and the employees are consistently rude. I feel very unwelcome every visit to Moscow Building Supply. Im not talking about one negative experience, but consistently on several visits I was ignored by multiple employees and then when I finally get someone to help they are snappy and unhelpful. On todays visit several employees saw me looking around and turned and went the other way. When I finally went to the counter in the back of the store the two employees who were talking to each other ignored me for several minutes before asking if they could help me. I asked if they had foam insulation board. The employee rolled his eyes and said yes followed by silence until I asked where it was located. On the visit prior to this I had the same problem trying to find wood shims. The only employee I could find saw me coming and shot down an isle to avoid me. I shouted excuse me and he sighed and was rude the entire time. Before that visit I tried to return a bolt because I bought too many and they refused to return it because it had grease on it from handling it with dirty hands. The cashier got the manager who insulted me for even attempting to return it and said they wont take it back (why would any company risk losing a customer over a few cents?)Ive also noticed that they seem to only hire a certain type of cashier, which I think is gross and degrading.Its well worth the drive to Lewiston to go to Home Depot. The prices are much better, they have a great return policy, they dont adhere to gender role oppression and they wont treat you like crap!

Even though I can buy plants at other locations (local nurseries, Walmart, etc) I prefer to go to Moscow Building Supply. They are really helpful and knowledgeable, and Ive found some real gems there.

Ive been going to MBS since 1984. I bought most of the materials I used in building my home. In that time Ive had a few less than knowledgeable people help me, but in the last year it seems that they have hired better people and upped their training as I have yet to have a negative experience. The only thing that disappoints me about the current inventory is a minimum of my favorite power tools (Makita) in favor of Milwaukee (also a good brand, but Im not going to change battery platforms) and DeWalt (which has let the bean counters decide too much when it comes to making a durable product).

Good store. They have most items, though prices are high. Biggest gripe is that they close too early, and open too late. Its usually pretty inconvenient.

Weve frequented MBS for a very, very long time. Since they moved to their current location almost 18 years ago we thought they would really update the antiquated system of how they run their business. I really like to shop there for our fixer-upper, but it is tiring to have to have every ounce of info off their shelf tags because their cashiers and cash register system is not up to par with modern times. We just went in today (8/12/2018) and got some things. Forgot to look at the price and info on the shelf tag and when we got up to the cash register the cashier was so confused and had to ask a fellow employee what something was called, there were barcodes on the stakes that we got, but they wouldnt register with the scanner (probably because they were curved), she finally punched in the numbers on the barcode and it went in. We werent in a hurry, that is not why Im complaining, Im complaining because were nearing 20 years of MBS updating their building and system and theyre still not up with the times.

Absolute worst service I have had at a home building supplier. Almost no product knowledge from the guys on the yard.i figured out what I needed from google. Truly a shame this is Moscows only option because their service is terrible. Amazed they get orders out with the pace things were moving at.

If I owned a business still, and dropped the ball the way MBS has dropped the ball with my rental order, then I would seriously consider shutting down my business and going to work for someone else. I thought only weathermen could be wrong 50% of the time and still keep their job, but apparently stores like MBS can also be wrong 75% of the time and still stay in business. I was misquoted prices, promised delivery ETAs that were not fulfilled, and was recommended equipment that didn’t do the job that I had explicitly asked them about. Pretty unsatisfactory customer service, MBS. Hopefully next time you can do better!
