The store is amazing, so many different cooking utensils and gadgets and the associates are so knowledgeable and friendly! the cooking classes are also awesome, i personally did the winter in paris date night class and it was wonderful! chef josh taught my boyfriend and i and he was so great, super friendly and kind and he encouraged us to do basically all the work for the food and it all turned out so delicious. i also met another chef there, jasmine i believe and she was also so friendly and kind, she seems like she’d be a great chef to cook with as well! the experience here was phenomenal and i have already booked another class to partake in! i would definitely recommend coming here if you’re looking for a good cooking lesson!

The gift that never came... Were sad that Sur La Table is in bankruptcy and seeking a buyer. Its a great brand, and we always enjoyed shopping there -- especially before Christmas. I ordered a Cuisinart popcorn popper on May 2 with special shipping for Mothers Day on May 9. The item was in stock when I ordered; then they said it would be a week late; then, on May 28, they said they were cancelling the order. Another victim of Covid and the Internet; Sur La Table was a fine retailer in its time.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Lots of cool gadgets, but sometimes a bit on the pricey side. But great products if you can afford them. There are many things that are unique kitchen things that youll find are hard to find elsewhere.

Very unprofessional. I ordered an item from the website, paid for standard shipping and now, 5 weeks later still have not received my order, nor had I received any communication regarding a delay, or anything at all. As I checked out, there was a notice that said this item was shipped from a vendor and so it could take up to 14 business days to ship. That was fine, no problem. It was also the holiday season so I figured they may have been backlogged on orders and was taking a little longer for them to ship it. When I called after a month of waiting for my order to even process, the customer service rep I spoke to said he would check with the vendor to find out what the hold up was, and would email me to let me know. A week later, I had still not heard any response, so I called back, and found that he had emailed the vendor, received a response but failed to email me with the information he found out. Apparently, the item was out of stock, which was not posted on their website when I ordered the item, and it would not be in stock again for 6 months. The lack of professionalism in communicating with the customer about the order is appalling. Not only was there no indication that the item was out of stock, there was no communication that there may be a delay in fulfilling the order from the vendor or Sur La Table, and then there was again no communication in response to my attempt to find out what was going on. Very disappointing and very unprofessional.

Tried to return a scan pan which has a lifetime warranty on it due to poor non-stick performance. They told me they only take those warranty items for 60 days and after that I had to deal with scan pan. For the money these items cost, Sur la Table should take care of these issues for customers. Didnt find anywhere where the lifetime warranty they advertised had to go direct to scan pan.

Do not take the macaron class. The chef/teacher was not a pastry chef. Im not sure hed ever made macarons before. I knew more about making macarons than he did.Ive been failing at macarons for four years. I was not a beginner, I just needed to know what I was doing wrong. I expected that, with the professional help at Sur La Table, I would finally have a successful batch and know how to succeed in the future. Maybe thats an unreasonable expectation?Perhaps the chef had successfully made macarons previously, but hed never made them with the Sur La Table equipment. The sieves he gave us were too fine, which he didnt realize, and we ended up needing to use a food processor. The chef never used the term macaronage, which is understandable in a room where most people were beginners. However, he didnt know what a j-fold was, and certainly wasnt showing the proper technique for folding the egg whites into the almond flour/powdered sugar. I went along with his odd egg folding movements thinking he must know more than I did. He did not check the final consistency of anyones batter before we started piping the cookies and the consistency of the batter is one of the most important factors for success. He underbaked my macarons. With chocolate chip cookies its forgivable and gooey centers are delicious. With macarons, gooey centers mean hollow macarons. He pulled my macarons out too early and told me I should have dipped my offset spatula in water before removing them from the pan (thats why they were sticking), when macarons release from silicone mats just great when theyve been cooked long enough.Every person in the class had hollow macarons. As were all discovering this, he shrugs and says with a laugh, Im a better cook than I am a baker. Then he says, Perfect this at home and let me know when you get it. As though I hadnt already tried everything I could think of to perfect them before I signed up for the class. Ive tried the swiss meringue method, the italian meringue method, whipping the eggs to stiffer peaks, less stiff, having a stiffer batter, a runnier batter, adjusting the oven temperature, rotating pans, using cream of tartar, you name it. Ive done it. I was in the class to learn how to be successful, not to fail AGAIN the exact way Id been failing for four years.Hollow. Again. What a waste of an afternoon.

Cancelled a large company gift order last minute despite me calling several times to ensure the order would arrive before the holidays. Then, kept my credit card number on file and charged me for two separate orders that I never placed. Spent close to two hours on hold during multiple calls trying to get this resolved. Customer agent said this was a “computer glitch” and that the charges would be removed within 24 hours. 4 days later, they still were not refunded. Horrible experience and clearly a security issue with keep credit card numbers on file!

Ordered something from the website, was shipped out nearly 2 weeks later. Sent a cancellation request to their customer service (I could never get anyone on the telephone), but have never received a response. Item finally showed up, way late. I did try calling again several more times, only to be put on hold for extended periods. Finally was able to talk to someone who offered a prepaid shipping label to send item back.

Be wary of dealing with the worst customer service known to man. My husband and I purchased a cooking class $160 dollars overall. We had to purchase a month beforehand to even schedule for an available class, however on our confirmation email they didnt specify the date or send us a reminder that it was coming up. So of course we missed it unknowingly and they refuse to help out with another class, let alone reimburse... do not recommend as they dont care about their customers.

I dont think I have ever had a more terrible experience with a business customer service. I purchased a class for my mother, but she changed her mind and in order to return the class and get my money back it has taken over 3 weeks, 2 visits to the store, and countless hours trying to reach a customer service line only to find out that their system is down and I should try calling back in about an hour or so. When asked if they could just follow up with me when their system was back up she replied with there are a lot of people that will be trying to call then so I cant do that. (Thanks lol cant wait to sit on hold for an hour because you have told everyone else to call back then too). They like to charge you the big bucks for a damn cooking class but dont care to take care of you if you change your mind. I am honestly disgusted and will never give them my business ever again.

I purchased a Nespresso Vertuo after looking at one for a while. There was a working model and after having a sample in store, i made the purchase. A week later (today) Amazon sent me a message asking if I was still interested. The same model I purchased was reduced by $75.00. I contacted the store(Fashion Place,Salt Lake City)about price matching. Rene told me to come in and she would take care of it. So I did. No hassle, very good experience. Thanks so much!

Not worth it, it’s $60 per person. We had to share our ingredients because there were a lot of people so we only did half of the baking, the chef did everything else for you, they took our cakes out of the oven and got them out for you so it didn’t feel like we actually did much and didn’t learn how to make anything. My husband said that he felt like we was just putting legos together as someone told him what to do. What I thought was even more dumb is that we didn’t get to take our stuff home! They said that they didn’t have containers which is not true, so we practically made treats for them to give out.

The sur la table wedding registry is awful, and so is the customer service when you call them. i never get emails when they discontinue items on my registry, and i have made sure all my email settings are appropriate. i called them to ask about this and they had a terrible attitude and couldnt help me. now all of the discontinued items show up as purchased on The Knot, which is not what i want since i havent actually received them!

Took the Date Night class. We cooked flank steak with pan jus, fries with garlic truffle aioli, winter greens salad with shallot vinaigrette, & molton chocholate cake with vanilla bean creme anglaise. The food was tasty & a lot simpler than the names imply. We will be making some of these items at home in the future. We worked in groups of four and shared the food. This was not a surprise as i had read through the class discription & general information about classes prior to our arrival. The couple we cooked with, Nick & his wife Taylor, were wonderful. We all took turns & the experience was great. If youre worried about cooking with unknown people then get 2 friends to attend with you.My only disappointment was that as we made the various vinaigrette, creme anglaise, & aioli they were added together with the other 3 groups sauces, etc. Because we had seasoned them to our taste having all 4 mixed together the flavor seemed different. All in all it was a good experience. We must have had fun as weve signed up for the Taste of India class.

I wish I could have agreed with other users about the classes at this store, but unfortunately I cannot. While the people here will tell you that you can sign up for classes up to the day before as long as there is space, what they fail to mention is that if there is no one in the class, they will cancel the class 2 days before it starts. My fiance and I were left high and dry for the first 2 hours planned for date night because the class we wanted was canceled. Had we known that it would be canceled 2 days before the day, I would have signed up on the spot. Also, when sincerely asked if the class could be reopened, the resident chef flat refused.Because we were out-of-town, we were not able to take advantage of any other classes at the discounted price that was offered because of the issue with communication, but offering a discount and the knowledge of the specialist on cutlery gets this place from 2 to 3 stars in my book. Im a little bummed out, but I would return to this store for products or classes.

Went to a Sushi 101 cooking class last night with my boyfriend for $69 each. For the price I was upset to find out we shared a station with another group. There was also minimal food. We had two small pieces of fake crab, and we didn’t even eat ours because the people in our “group” ate it. Between the 4 of us we also only got HALF of one avocado???? We had limited tuna and the people in our group used a ton more than us to put in their veggie roll, leaving barely enough to make 2 rolls.Overall for the price and for coming to a professional cooking class, we don’t think it was worth it and there should definitely be changes made. (Don’t share stations when there are only 8 people in the class and have our own ingredients)

Purchased a $180.00 toaster and on the 62nd day the toaster stopped working. I took it back to the store in the original box and all the paperwork and was turned away because returns have to be less than 60 days. I was appalled by this and was told to ship it back to the manufacturer for repair or replacement. YES, I am now going to be without a toaster for approximately 3 week. I even sent a priority letter to Mr. May the President of the company over the poor customer service at this store and the return policy appeared to be rather strict compared to the competitors. Never got a letter or a email back just ignored. So the lack of customer service is a direct derivative from their Corporate culture. They really dont sell anything that unique go someplace that will appreciate you and moreover take care of you if a problem arise.
