Well after reading several reviews I thought Id share our honest opinion ..weve stayed at many campgrounds here around myrtle. We think pirateland is best for us but check out time needs to be about 12. Because lots arent raked or touched after campers leave so we dont understand why 11. Also if you have a really large heavy rig,you might consider 2x4 so to help not to get stuck.

My family & I have been coming to Pirateland for 3 years now. We have always enjoyed it! We arrived on Friday 10/8 -10/12. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t very good during our stay requiring us to use the indoor pool for our 3 boys ages 9 & 11. On 2 occasions the older residents that live there were very rude & acting annoyed that we were there. The 3rd time I was verbally attacked. My twin boys age 9 got into the hot tub with me at the very end of the hot tub. Three “Karen’s”were sitting around the stairs when we entered…. They were obviously annoyed we were wanting to get in. My boys are well-behaved and were sitting quietly with me. One of them put on his goggles to look underwater at the bubbles. When he did this, the head “Karen” went nuts!!! She started yelling accusing my 9 yr old son of inappropriately looking at their bodies underwater. She hysterically started yelling at me that she was offended & felt violated that my children would do this. Both my boys were totally dumbfounded by this lady’s reaction. We were a good 6-7 ft away from them and with the jets going you definitely couldn’t see anything. After a few tense moments & her seeing I was NOT one to be bullied(she wanted us to leave) the three Karen’s finally waddled away. I think several of the rude residents need to be reminded they live within the confines of a FAMILY RESORT!!!!!!!! If they don’t like it they need to find a 55+ community. We have friends that are residents there & after I relayed the story, they told me these ladies frequently cause problems by thinking they own the indoor pool area. So if you do visit, beware of the KAREN’S!!!! Also the cabins are ridiculously small. Saying they fit 5-6 people is hilarious….

We had an awesome vacation at PirateLand Campground. We visited over labor day weekend and enjoyed every minute of it. We rode our bikes just about everywhere except for the beach. We were in spot 98. It was within a short walking distance to the beach access and 2 sites over from the bath house. The site was a good size and was not cramped. Almost all the people and staff we came in contact with were very nice, friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning to camp here again in the future.

DO NOT STAY IN THE VILLAS! The place we had to stay in was absolutely appalling. Black mold in numerous places and overall extremely dirty. The whole place smelled musty especially when the AC was on. When I called the office to speak with Sharon she could have cared less. All I wanted was some sort of compensation for the inconvenience of the place not being ready when we arrived. I cant believe they dont have maintenance or someone from the campground walk through these places on occasion. Instead they solely rely on a third party cleaning company who would have no idea when problems such as these arise. I do home renovations for a living and this place has some serious issues that go deeper than just spraying it with bleach like she wanted to do. I got plenty of documentation including a mold test in regards to the condition of the unit and will be speaking with my lawyer. Pirateland should be embarrassed!

My family loved this campground! It is a great place for all ages(:The golf cart rental seemed a bit expensive to me but was well worth it. We had so much fun decorating the golf cart and joining the golf cart parade every night down by the beach! And also for such a large campground with so many things to do - being able to use the golf cart and not having to try to walk with 3 children was totally worth it😊 Happy Camping!

It is within driving distance to the skywheel and other attractions you really cant beat the location and amenities.

Have been coming here the past three summers and just returned home today. Always a great time. Grounds are clean, it is a very laid back vibe. You can get golf carts but we never have...I highlyRecommend bringing your bike! You can smoke the golf carts AND motor vehicles on an adult bicycle 😉 just a friendly hint. The pool is so nice! For kids and adults. Ice cream shop is great, the girls working there always pleasant and they have extended hours. Arcade could use some tidying but no biggie. The ladies in the camp store are always lovely and the selection there is nice. Bathhouses are all modern with newer tile and stalls. We’ll definitely be coming back for years to come!

My daughters and grandchildren and I went camping for three nights, besides the noisy people teenagers and adults walking down our campsite with their music blaring and talking loud at after 2:00 a.m. and the red ant mounds that were all over our campsite which I bought ant spray it is nature so you cant control that. Our stay was very pleasant its very nice place to go I just will get a different campsite next time very close to the ocean and the restroom and the pool was was a very lovely place to be. The only real issue we had besides noisy people during quiet time was blonde headed older woman in the cafe at the arcade she was extremely rude to my daughter and their games in the arcade room several of them didnt work they kept taking their points in the money off of the card one of the workers came out used his card so my grandson could play his game and it still didnt work overall its a lovely place but I think I will try another campground next time.

I stayed at the site beside my site for one night, Prior to setting up the camper on the site we had for a week I requested they cut the grass however that didn’t happen and we leave tomorrow and have had to walk through foot and a half tall grass all week. This is a great place if you have a lot of kids. The park is clean and looks like it is run very well. We paid extra to be on the front row ocean front the problem is you cant see the ocean from you site or from inside your RV. They did not tell us that when we booked. Also we did not realize that you can put Boom Boxs on golf carts. 50 or so started playing music around 4:30pm and they went 11:00pm when security stop them because thats when quite time starts. We could not listen to our TV inside our RV because the music was so loud. They just kept driving around and around one right after the other till 11:00pm. This was NOT the weekend or a Holiday. We paid for 3 nights but left after 1 night... IF we were ever to come back we would stay as far away from the beach or pool but I dont thing we will ever come back.

Will not be coming back. The campground is very tight and a bit overcrowded. The website makes it seem like it is family friendly but it is sort of a party campground. The front gate employees were rude and treat you like you don’t belong. The check in staff are very short and not welcoming. I went to guest services the lady didn’t want to help and pushed me off on someone else. The big issue was we booked a spot that said our RV would fit with 10ft to spare but once we got to the site, there was no way we could maneuver the RV and truck around the permanent resident that was across from us and other RV’s and cars without hitting them. Fellow campers informed us that we will probably need to have the camp pull the RV in with their tractor (which we had to pay $20.00 for but it was worth it). I will say that the two gentleman that ended up pulling the RV with a tractor to put it in the spot were very nice and helpful. They advertise that there are events each day but we never really saw them. The saving grace was that the beach was very nice. I was ready to leave once our time was over.

We have been camping here for years and the amenities are great. Currently camping here and the experience so far may be our last time camping here. The campground has become very political. With all the rules and regulations the camp has they need one to ban political flags, regardless of the candidate. Camping is for relaxation and vacation not politics. Riding last night I saw a flag on a golf cart that said F*** (candidates name) there are kids in this campground and they dont need to see that. BAN POLITICS IN THE CAMPGROUND!

I made a reservation at this place yesterday. Since I have not stayed here before I went to see what the campground looked like today. Pirateland was not a well maintained campground. The sites were extremely close with mud holes on every site and large puddles of standing water all over the place. We have stayed at the other campgrounds next door, which are much better maintained. I decided this is not the place for my family. The price per night is higher than the competition’s sites. The golf car rentals are more expensive as well. I called to cancel my reservation and was told there is a $75!! That’s right a $75 cancellation fee. She did inform me that if I could produce a doctors note showing that I have an illness they may possibly waive the fee!? It’s been a long time since I have been in grade school so please do not treat me as such. We live local and unfortunately will never again think about visiting this place. For the higher prices and all the $75 fees they are getting from people like me, they should keep better care of their dated and unmowed facility.

Cant bring personal golf carts but you can rent theirs for 350? Spoke with 3 people, and “it’s our policy”.Get this, offered to pay the 350 as a penalty just to use the golf cart we purchased for this family vacation…. “No we can’t do that, against policy”.As I was trying to understand why,(maybe it would make sense), They could not tell me why they have this policy. Reason that comes to mind….it’s all about the money…. Follow the money anytime a business can’t answer questions straight forward and you will always find the answer. The staff did their job, and did as they were told… I’ll give them that, they were trained well, just not in a Disney fashion. I know the rv industry is booming now, but those that were camping before the boom and soon after the boom( it’s coming) will remember all these things when we patronize campgrounds.Last year we will be staying at pirate land. Tried to get in ocean lakes multiple times to try them out, and could not figure out why they were so busy….. NOW I KNOW!

It was our first time ever visiting Myrtle Beach, this campground was excellent!! The staff was super nice and exceeded all our expectations. We did rent a golf cart on location, great rates. We had so much fun with family just driving around this huge resort property. Unfortunately we came during bike week and there was the gas shortage.... great thing is Pirateland kept all the motorcycles near the front entrance, and we never heard any noise. This place was peaceful and you could hear the ocean all day. Sites were spacious in some sections depending on area you stayed. We were on beach side..first site was concrete with no pavilion, 2nd site was grassy/sand with pavilion. We loved both. They also have a camp store (great prices and selection for all your needs), Ice cream shop, video arcade with pizza shop, and a laundromat. We actually played a round of mini-golf while we were there, lots of fun. Unfortunately we did not visit pool or lazy river, but looked very nice.. The beach was literally less than a 1/2 block walking distance from our campsite. If you want a great first time experience camping in Myrtle Beach, I would recommend Pirateland.

Everything was pretty ok except when it rained and my site was flooded and my jacks sunk in the wet sand. I waded in a foot of water outside my rv. I am disabled and ask for a site near the disabled access to the beach. I was put in a space mid way on the road away from the beach and not even close to the ramp to the beach. The wood ramp should go farther though as I had to stop where the sand got soft. The price of a space and $60 a day for a golf cart is out of reach for me so I walked in my walker as I have no car. I cant afford to come back. Those that can afford it, have fun. I can stay in a beachside Condo cheaper than a nights rate here with a golf cart rental. No more beach camping for me, I will get a condo for $100. It is off season now. Save on gas too.

First time visiting this camping, let’s start from the beginning, ample entrance, you are welcome by the greeter, then you’re instructed to park your rig right ahead and do the check in process at the office. The ladies at the office were very polite and helpful, they took the time to go over the map and locations, amenities, etc. Then heading to our campsite was a piece of cake, very spacious sites, all sites have a wooden shelter over the picnic table which it comes helpful if your are tent camping. We were so close to the ocean that we sleep 💤 and wake up with the sound of the ocean 🌊 waves every single day. My family has been coming to Pirateland for over 30 years. Unfortunately, the campground has declined over time. They advertise free wifi without mentioning that it is essentially unusable. The villas are dirty and in desperate need of replacement. The quality of guests at the campground has taken a turn as well. The women in my family were catcalled multiple times a day. The only silver lining to our vacation was our wonderful maintenance man, Jeff. He was frequently in our villa to fix any problems we discovered, including no air conditioning and leaky pipes that damaged everything stored underneath them. If the rest of the campground was as excellent as Jeff, it would be a much better experience.

We have always heard about Southern Hospitality, just didnt know that is was so rotten. Our family had reservations in your park from Monday, July 5th to the following Saturday, July 10th. We stayed for two nights when the tropical storm (Elsa) came. When you book reservations months in advance, you cannot control the weather. We reasonably tried to asked about refunds (even partial) for us having to leave three nights too early due to the storm. We had a pop up camper right on the ocean coast and were told by many it was not a smart decision to stick around. We were told that no refunds would happen, because it was not declared an emergency. To tell us that we should stay camped on a beachfront site in a pop up in a tropical storm is insane. We are posting this primarily to show the lack of understanding and the greed that was shown by this campground. Not to mention that the golf carts run the place, the bathrooms were plugged and dirty the two days we were there, and the site was so small that we could barely fit our pop up on it. At this time we would like to invite you all to vacation in Michigan where we will no doubt treat you much better.

No one at anytime explained to me that my family would be inconvenienced every night (3 nights) from roughly 9pm until 11pm with a golf cart parade that circled continuously up and down the one road that runs in front of Oceanfront sites. As a family we enjoy seating out in the evening watching tv and playing board games, not with a Pirateland golf cart parade. Extremely loud music, music with obscene language, drunk individuals randomly yelling and running from cart to cart. Also pretty sure we observed underage drinking as well golf carts driven by unlicensed drivers due to age. There were individuals employed by the campground watching; individuals carts said Patrol but those individuals did nothing. As family we have stayed in many campgrounds that provide cart parades but those parades are lead by campground staff and travel a loop around the campgrounds, not just cruising up and down one road. I am positive if a Pirateland traveled a loop, many more campers would be unsatisfied with this activity.THIS NEGATIVE (golf cart parade) BY FAR OUTWEIGHED ANY POSITIVE! Love this place they had a picknick table with a roof over it so we could eat under it and the staff and people were nice and helpful we was right by the beach the one thing I did not like was the power hookup for the camper and wish it was on the same side as the sewer the pool was nice and the splash pad the golf cart was nice and helpful for my Mamaw to get around but we had to charge the golf cart on the camper power instead of the 110 plug the food trucks were nice and rotated based on the day and it was delicious overall we will be coming back Thank you Pirateland camping resort

Discriminated against a United States veteran. And did it with a smile. Amputee and spinal cord damage from Afghanistan. I use several Other Power Driven Medical devices. None of them they will allow instead they need to profit from me renting one of their own golf carts. Look else were!!!!

Very nice place to stay for a week. I have two complaints. The cell service in this area is horrible. One would think being such a hot tourist area the cell phone companies would invest more on hardware to keep people in touch.Second, wow the night golf cart parade. While it is kinda fun to watch completely caught us off guard the first night and we were only three sites from ocean front drive. After a long day of driving I was ready for some sleep however the party crowd had different ideas for us that night.

We had a great time! The camping spots are a little tight in some areas but honestly we were at the beach or pool most of the time. It wasnt even an issue. They even had a food truck that was amazing!

We had an amazing time while staying here three nights. Many things for the kids to do.Pretty expensive for a tent campsite for one night, but the ammenities are worth it! Close walk to an UNCROWED beach where you can watch the sunset, swim and fish. A fishing lake, splash pad, and pool thats well maintained. Staff is friendly mostly. We did have one security guard who seemed to be having a bad day, but hey its hot outside this time of year. All in all we enjoyed our time here!

Enjoyed a lovely experience with my small family. I did bring my dog who loved the outdoors but the sites were VERY CLOSE together and I didnt want him too close to other dogs. My family slept in a tent which we had zero issues. We will visit again, thanks.

The Good: great pools, camp store, bath houses, and beach access. The Bad: extremely tight spots in some cases. If my neighbors hadn’t of been at their site when I pulled in to move their tow vehicles (which were parked within their own site), I would have never been able to get my trailer in the site. Every time someone arrived or departed, it was necessary to move vehicles just to have enough clearance to maneuver . Also, the nightly golf cart parade is obnoxious, loud, and blocks traffic. If you’re into that kind of thing, ok, but with young children who go to bed at 8pm, having all that noise to 11pm made life miserable. I will not stay here again, ever.

In 43 years of RVing this campground has to be in the top 5 WORST campgrounds weve been toThe Golf carts RACE around uncontrollable and driving in on the Campground roads with Motorhome or car is quite an undertakingThe site are jammed togetherThey have a sheet of rules.....of which....NONE SEEM TO BE ENFORCEDUnderage Golf Cart drivers....TOP SPEEDAND DRINKING AND DRIVING is CERTAINLY tolerated .....SAW SECURITY DRIVE BY ONCE IN A WEEKThe best of the park, was the Pool and Lazy River.....Plan not to Return

We went spring break and it was very crowded. The beach is big and the pools are nice. The camp sites are too.close together if you are just camping in one site, if you are going with a group it is nice. They say no fireworks but they dont enforce it. Almost every night I was there I heard fireworks. They only have one dog park so if you are camping beach front like we were it isnt great for dog walking, but we found a patch of grass that was good. There is no mask mandate.

We usually love this place, but will not be going back until they change the policy of not allowing drinks at the pool. What good is a vacation if you cant have a drink & snack by the pool? Its ridiculous. We were kicked put of the pool for this.

We love coming here and look forward to it every summer! We have 4 boys that range in age from 18 to 5, and they all always find something to keep them entertained, whether its the pool, putt-putt, the arcade or the beach. We have camped here in our own RV and have rented their little cabins too. We actually prefer the cabins. They are economical, off the beaten path (so the golf cart parade doesnt disturb us) and still within walking distance of the beach. We have never had any issues and always have great experiences with the staff. We highly recommend Pirateland!

If I could give 0 stars I would. This staff is flat out rude and disrespectful. Out of all the money we paid to stay here they still don’t help you out. Got there at 1am and we had to sleep in the Parking lot because apparently you can’t park your rv after midnight. Save your money and go somewhere where they appreciate there customers. Also bathrooms are awful 2/5 are clogged 1/5 leak when you flush and the other 2 were just plain out gross.

Great place to stay. We were down for a week and had our travel trailer away from the pool and lake area. We were the 5th trailer from the beach and the bathhouse had a cut-thru. It was pretty quiet at night, which was good since my daughter was here for a softball tournament with early games. The evening goftcart parade (every night like ckockwork) was even enjoyable. The participants, even the teenagers, were respectful. We will definitely come back for another stay!

My family has been coming for decades now. Were on our 3rd generation of fun at this well-kept family friendly campground. Is it brand spankin new? No. Does it have thebiggest flashiest bells and whistles? No. It does, however, have the friendliest staff and everything you need to have a great time while focusing on family and not things. Looking forward to many more memories made here in the future!
