Love Penzeys. We love to cook, our spice drawer and overflow shelf in the pantry is almost completely Penzeys jars. Their signature blends are great. While I preferred going in the store to browse, and buying stuff I didnt go in for, their online order and curbside pickup shows their concern for their employees and customers. Bill Penzeys views align with my own so Im happy to spend my money with someone who wont use it against my interests. I enjoy his emails as well.

I love the spices. Being new to the area.I ordered thinking it would be shipped but it was for pickup. When I called to schedule a pickup time they were annoyed and rude.. And when I went to pick it up. They opened the door, set it down and rudely turned back inside. Both visible employees seemed put out. I was > than 12 ft from the door with a mask on.

WARNING: Mask Mandate still in effect.It’s the end of June and this store is still requiring every shopper to mask up. They may be pro yummy food but they anti science. The evidence of the damaging lockdown is all around them with 50% store vacancies in their Plaza but Penzeys clings to the old ways. I clung to my gift money and shopped elsewhere.

Great place to pick up some nice spice blends. Staff has been helpful when needed.

This is the place to go if you need spices. The staff is very helpful and always pleasant.

They have a good selection of spices with an array of flavor profiles, but their attitude during the pandemic and Bill Penzey’s political views leave a bad taste in my mouth. Politics has no place in business. To remain closed to shoppers a year after COVID started while everyone else is open not only makes it inconvenient for shoppers who want a better idea of what they’re buying, especially for unfamiliar spices and blends, it is also an in-your-face far-left political statement. Perhaps Bill has become so wealthy he doesn’t care who he alienates. Personally, I’d rather give my business to someone who needs and truly appreciates it.

I love penzies and have a gift card to use. I do my best buying there while browsing and cannot wait for them to reopen. That being said Im glad they are being safe.

Really great place and useful unique items

Horrible customer service since the pandemic has began! I’ve placed multiple orders online for curbside pick up. Each time that I’ve talked to someone about a pick up time for my order, I’ve gotten a terrible attitude. I placed an order for a spice to use for holiday cooking and called to ask if they would have my ONE spice ready for an evening pick up so I could head for my errands near the store and have ready for the next day. They rudely responded to say that they the one spice that I ordered wouldn’t be ready for at least 48 hrs because they have other orders in front of mine. I do like the spices but cannot stand the constant horrible attitudes. On another occasion I was patronized for removing a free pin from my basket. I thought I was being kind for not taking something I had no use for - I don’t wear pins. I’ll start taking my business elsewhere!

Some of me of the worst, oxidized spices I have ever had. You don’t need a astute palate to know this. Home cooks, don’t assume because of the cute packaging that you’re buying something of quality here

If I could give it a ZERO I would! Please don’t shop here. The owner uses his profits for His political Opinions. If you spend your hard earned dollars in his shop beware that you will unintentionally be funding things you may not want to support. And guess what. You can send him letters and never get a response. He doesn’t care. His products may be ok but there are other Spice shops just as good! That’s where I will be shopping.

Received a political email from the founder Bill Penzey. I was very sad to see how much hate Bill has. Bill should not mix his political views with his business. I will be praying for him. I hope he can get some help.

Great selection of what I think are some of the best quality spices from all over the world. Staff is very informative as are the displays. Several types of blends from all over the world as well. A must stop resource for all serious cooks and bakers.

Very helpful and friendly staff

Ive been a loyal Penzeys customer for almost 15 years. Basically, since I first moved from California to Illinois. They have the cutest coloring area for kids. My kids both love to visit the store and smell all of the spices. I appreciate that I can share my passion for cooking with them. Penzeys is one of my favorite places to shop for practical and indulgent wedding and housewarming gifts, as well. Keep up the great work and amazing customer service, Penzeys!

I stopped here after work to pick up something I needed for dinner and their walk up ordering is closed it is online only. Very elitist to assume everyone has online access.

Youll never buy your spices anywhere else. The cutest sets to give and get and excellent prices and variety on individual spices. Every spice you can imagine is here. Who thought buying spices could be this fun but it is. Go see and then you can order online also!

I love this place! I drive an hour or so to get there. Its well worth It! It is a cooks dream. I you are an amateur cook or a professional chef, youll find old standards and undiscovered spices to explore. Who knew there were that many different versions of cinnamon!? Nothing has disappointed me yet! The love messages are gravy! The management is unapologetically focused on love and inclusive ideals... First amendment right!

The spices and spice blends from Penzeys are incredible! They are slightly more expensive than what you can buy at the grocery store, but they are very much WORTH IT!! They also have some stuff you will not find at the grocery store. This location is very friendly. They dont pester you if you say youre just browsing and theyre very helpful finding everything you need if you come in with a specific list. Wonderful place!

I buy bulk spices on Amazon or at my local specialty jumbotron grocery store and I save a ton of money and get some insanely delicious and fresh spices. Thats just my opinion. I dont need fancy packaging or cute gift sets, i just need good fresh spices that dont cost me too much.

The best spices around

Great place for a huge variety of herbs and spices. They also make their own blends. I always get their Dutch chocolate powder. Their buttermilk ranch is very flavorful and I recommend the Italian and Cajun blends. Many kinds of cinnamon. If you enjoy cooking, this is the place to go.

Great assortment of spices. It may seem a little pricey at first glance, but the quality is unmatchable. A bottle of Penney’s spice will last you so much longer than a bottle from the grocery store. You can buy less common spices like ground cardamom and ground star anise in both small and large quantities. I’m currently making vanilla extract from some Madagascar vanilla beans I bought there.

Did not know there was a Penzeys in Illinois but so happy to bump into this! This shop was just as friendly warm and inviting as the ones up north and I got more than I planned as usual. Absolutely wonderful blends for BBQ, cant wait to try!!

My wife LOVES this place. I am not so enthusiastic about cooking, but do come in here from time to time for grilling & steak seasonings. The Mitchell St Seasoning they offer here is awesome!! Its mild and slightly smokey, its perfect for steaks! I also really like the chicken seasoning as well. Staff always ask if I need help finding anything or if I have any questions.

This is a great store. I have been buying Penzys spices since 1984. I cannot give them a better rating because of the impossible parking. I understand they moved from Washington Street because of the lack of parking. This location is no improvement.

Amazing spice selection, blends as far-ranging as Indian, Chinese, Ethiopian, Mexican, and American standards. Really helpful and not pushy staff. A lot of salt free blends for those watching their sodium intake, and a range of sea salt blends for those wanting that touch.I had a few hours to kill in Naperville, and I nearly lost my mind exploring all the options in the store.

This is the only store in the northwest suburbs that I can find diamond crystal kosher salt on the shelf. The spice mixes are top notch and I dont have to worry about stale spices. The prices are comparably expensive compared to ethnic stores, but it is one of the few places that carry a large variety of obscure spices like vanilla beans. Despite the store advertising heavily liberal political messages, the occasional free or discounted promotions are enticing.

Quality spices, nice variety. The feature here is the sniffing jars so you can smell the freshness. They have quite a few mixes, and a mechanism for tasting would be a good addition.

Great source for dried spices, herbs and extracts. Check their website to see everything they have. Its partcularly helpful that there are small cannisters of nearly all products which allows you to sniff, compare and decide exactly what you want. Products come in a nice variety of sizes.

The prices on their spices is ridiculous, come on. Im not purchasing a container, spices and herbs are just in a bag. Ive been buying from Penzeys for years, I think its about time I learn how to prep my own herbs and spices

I love that they offer a wide assortment of spices and give tips on how to use them. One of the best reasons to come here is just to smell the difference between some common herbs like Mexican oregano or common oregano.

This is my favorite store. I like having 5 different cinnamons to choose from. Thats fun. There is always new products in the form of spice mixtures, rubs, etc. Stop buying McCormick and shop here.

Our company just moved upstairs from this place about a month ago. Everyday I pass curiously wondering what this place is all about...until today. I went in and within a second I was greeted by a women that worked there with a welcoming hello I asked for a couple of her favorites on fish and she shared a personal recipe for a salmon dish that included some spices at the store as well as some seasonings for a ridiculous salad dressing. I purchased and regret nothing. Thanks to the folks at Penzys, Ill be back!

Friendly staff. Wide array of spices to choose from and a nice spot for kids to color while you shop. Only thing I would prefer is being able to buy in smaller quantities w/o a jar.

Went to Naperville to visit sisters and ran upon this store. It has a variety of exotic spiced from various regions and very friendly staff and very reasonably priced.
