I was surprised and hugely disappointed having breakfast at The Diner downtown. Location is fantastic and the vibe is also awesome. What’s horribly disappointing is the food. The breakfast menu is limited, and what is on the menu is so basic, with absolutely no character or creativity of any kind. I would say the diner has nothing I would call “signature“ for breakfast. Prices are slightly above where they should be for just mediocre food. As an example the home fries with breakfast were basically those cheap nuggets that you see from the Walmart frozen food section. Service was average but I understand during the pandemic it’s hard staffing up, for me the poor impression is strictly on the food being something that even I could make (I am terrible in the kitchen lol) So if you have company or are looking for a great brunch that you will enjoy, there are so many awesome Nashville choices, stay away from The Diner. this is my impression of breakfast I have no idea what lunch or dinner would be like. I have also included dessert pictures from the showcase when you first walk in. such an incredible location and so close to so many great hotels, if the owner of this establishment doesn’t want to make it a great destination brunch spot- they should sell it to someone who will. 👎🏼
GREAT view from the 6th floor! Wish we had been given a sushi menu. Didnt know it was an option until we saw someone else receive his. Smallish menu- not like a quick diner at all. Now that I think about it, there might be different menus for the different floors? I guess we looked like regulars that didnt need any inside info. Food was delicious, and service was friendly.
There are multiple floors to The Diner. Pre-Covid, each floor had a different menu but currently is serving the same menu on each level. There is a good selection of desserts in the display case up front. I had a philly steak sandwich. It was decent, but the cheese sauce made it soggy pretty quickly. They do serve alcohol, so that is a bonus for a diner.
First time for my wife and I at The Diner and we couldnt have had a better experience. The food was delicious (Nashville Hot chicken and buscuits!) and the service was second to none thanks to our server Harold! I highly recommend this to anyone who finds themselves in Nashville!!!
Food was ok - Belgian waffle was doughy, no butter provided & the server (dark hair, heavy w/bright red lipstick) disappeared for the entire visit. Its 4 stories of restaurant so maybe she was spread across all those floors? After we were finished, it took 40 minutes to get the check & then when she brought it, she didnt say we needed to pay at the front, so we waited another 15 before figuring it out. There was a very nice man with curly dark hair & glasses who brought drinks, water & our food. He was attentive and very nice and honestly should have received the tip since he did all the work.Dont think Id eat breakfast here again - maybe more fun as a bar only.
Atmosphere and location are awesome. It was a bit weird to figure out which floor to go to, but we had a great view, and the other patrons were very nice! It was crazy busy, and our orders got mixed up, but you really couldnt blame them, with how busy it was.
This is my husband and I favorite spot to go to. Every time we go, the staff is always friendly and the food and cocktails are very very good. I love that this restaurant has multiple floors that you can be sitting at, so room is no issue at all if the restaurant is too packed and full. The cocktails and meals are not too overly priced. We love The Diner Nashville!
Covid or not covid forgetting to put our order in doesnt reflect quality service. Thankful I asked because the setup for dining is through the bartender .. they need someone from England to train them if that is the program. 2 stars for the view of downtown Nashville.
One of the best kept secrets just a block off the strip. The drinks were great cold and the bartender were very friendly. If you want a drink without being overwhelmed by the crowds this is the spot. Did I mention the view, the view sealed the deal. The next we are in Nashville I will definitely be back.
Now this was a surprising find in Downtown Nashville. After searching for over an hour for an available restaurant we came to The Diner and was pleasantly surprised at the 0 wait time gtrat atmosphere great food and multi-level dining experience. For your classic diner feel, stay on the 1st floor, visit the 4th floor for your traditional dining experience or fo on yo to the rooftop 6th floor for a bar feel. It was such a great choice! Highly recommend!
This was our first stop after arriving in Nashville so it was mid-afternoon on a Friday. The place was pretty empty... and now I know why. Only 2 floors were open. The staff was just ok. Not super friendly and seemed more interested in talking with her co-worker than attending to her only customers. We ordered 2 burgers and the shrimp. The burgers came out quick... almost too quick. Did they just reheat them?? I mean, they beat our fried shrimp appetizer out 🤔. The burgers were average in taste and so were the fries, but the fries were nice and crispy. The shrimp were also decent. Nothing fancy.
Filet was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Asparagus was ok, but a little heavily seasoned on the tips. Fun atmosphere. Slower service but you can certainly tell they are hustling and doing their best. Fun atmosphere with the different food on different floors. Would definitely recommend.
The concept seems really, really cool. According to the photos Ive seen on Yelp and Google theres a little bit of everything for everyone here. Steak, Sushi, Oysters. You had me and 90% of our group there. No reservations for parties larger than 6. No big deal.10pm rolled up pretty quickly and only three out of the 10 wanted to grab something to eat. Decided to stop here for a quick bite. We were advised sushi and oyster was only available on the top floor so thats where we went. The seating on the top floor is only bar style which meant the party of 10 wouldnt have been able to sit together anyways.Biggest disappointment is that the sushi and oyster bar closed at 10. They gave us a condensed menu. The menu condenses again at midnight. I ordered the cheese steak and was less than impressed. Might be a good spot to eat before 10, but afterwards not a fan.
Love The Diner! We eat there every time we are in Nashville. The shrimp and grits are delicious! If you have room for dessert, get the chocolate Lava cake. Yummy! And, make reservations! The Diner is always packed!
Great place, its like four or five levels of similar themed diners and I believe theres a bar up top. Food and service were great. Definitely check it out and ride the elevator to see whats happening on the other floors. We ate inside on the first floor. A fun dining experience. What else do you expect in Nashville?
Nice view. Great atmosphere. I wanted a milk shake but you can only get that on the first floor. The host told us to go to the 4th floor and it didnt occur to me to say I wanted a milk shake before being seated. The server had too many tables and was having a hard time keeping up. I would go back and give it another try.
Wonderful diner with 6 floors of seating!!! The view was beautiful where we sat (on floor 4). Everything we tasted on the menu was divine. I had a simple avocado toast that really hit the spot. The breakfast sandwiches are hearty and delicious. And their mimosas are so fun: we tried the orange Creamsicle, strawberry, and cinnamon apple and all three were absolutely delicious! I loved this place all around.
This place is so amazing! The food was to die for. The cheesecake, one of the best cheesecakes I’ve had!
Delicious brunch--hot chicken and biscuits (side of gravy)! 2nd floor bartender, Logan, was a riot!!!! I recommend-- fast service, clean, delicious.
The food was good. The milkshake was incredible! The waitress seemed more interested in talking to co workers and a frequent customer then dealing with her two total tables. The bus boy or cook that brought out our food was incredibly sweet. There was no live music which was what I was looking for. I like my ear drums. The place had a great decor with a genuine vintage theme. Masks were required to tables.
I got the waffle sliders it is it was too large waffles made up like a sandwich with omelet bacon and cheese Cut in half with home fries it was very good and then they have mamosas and they were wonderful. There are 6 different levels of eateries
Tried the Diner Nashville when we stopped to get food on our road trip. We had breakfast and it was overall pretty good nice portions. Yummy food. The setting was pretty retro it was cool. Tried their Belgian waffle sliders which was pretty good. Only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I had to wave my waitress down she would check on all the other tables around us except ours until I waved. Other than that solid place to eat. They also have coffee there.
Wow best chicken and waffles Ive had! Everyone has recommended the Nashville Hot Chicken and The Diner set the bar high. It was the perfect amount of heat (I ordered hot) seasoned delicious and so juicy and tender. Waffles were awesome also. My husband got the burger and fries and it was good too. A must visit in downtown Nashville. 😋🔥❤
Not a whole lot to say. Always delicious, great service and atmosphere. Top recommendation for friends and family to try out. Its not cheap food you but wont leave hungry! Parking isnt really a thing unless you pay but still worth getting to regardless.
And quit honestly, I’d give you a 1/2 a star. Ordered TOAST AVOCADO and the toast wasn’t really toasted and the “avocado” was wasn’t fresh avocado. It was more like an avocado spread. I wasn’t impressed and NOT worth $11.00. And COME ON, y’all can’t sprinkle more white powdered sugar on the waffles...
Use to come for the oyster selection but once they took them off the menu i tried something new and ended up with food poisoning so i def do not recommend. oh and the philly is what did it. definitely go somewhere else if your hungry. over priced and nothing special about it
Despite the crowds and the chaos of a Saturday night, the staff did their jobs flawlessly. Being a local, I can only imagine what they put up with on a nightly basis, my hat is off to them. As far as the food goes, the hot chicken and waffle was pretty good and the fries are on point. Not bad for only having one kitchen for 5 floors. If this is your pre-concert stop, be prepared and get here early.
The Diner Nashville is not your typical diner. We were looking for something away from the hustle, bustle and noise on Broadway. This is a 6 story diner with different food options depending on the day and time you visit. We had past by this establishment a couple times while venturing out from our hotel. We decided to give it a try after skipping breakfast to do late brunch one afternoon. The turkey avocado sandwich was delishious. My wife ordered the ham and cheese omelet with a side of diced potatoes. She said it was cooked perfectly. We would definitely dine here again. Breakfast and brunch have reasonable priced offerings but the dinner menu is more expensive. Since we havent tried the dinner options I cant comment on portion sizes or taste but if our brunch was any indication you will not be disappointed. A definite place to try to get away from bar food.
Could hear the traffic outside as the fire department went by with there sirens on. Very loud even on the fifth floor but other than that they had some of the best biscuits and gravy Ive ever had and the fries dipped in the gravy was the best. Great service and nice, clean place.
The Name says it all.. nice view on fourth floor... but Its Diner Food :) Dont take any group to impress them for the food of Nashville... atmosphere gets a star... and so does the generous drinks.
Stopped by for breakfast. Loved the atmosphere, cocktails and service--we sat by the windows on the 4th floor--but the food was just okay. Id recommend the waffle over the avocado toast, which was disappointing. It was our 1st time dining here. We might try a different time of day if back in the area.
Quick breakfast, black coffee, and a beer in the morning. This place is pretty awesome!
Nice place that you can almost always get into. Megan does a great job of taking care of you if you eat downstairs. Food is really good and they serve some breakfast items for lunch for those who like that.
Really enjoy the food and atmosphere! Always a good choice when heading to a concert or event downtown.
Cleanliness: goodService : fairFood: fairOverall it was a good experience and the place looked nice but want wow’d. Waffles were great and the chicken was okay. Eggs were also pretty good along with potato’s. Social distancing was fine with the scan menu which is kind of nice but won’t ever understand a mask to the table but that’s not their fault and their doing well with enforcing.
Food was decent and I really enjoyed the ambiance here. I love the open outdoor area on every floor. Bang bang shrimp was great, mahi was way overcooked, cheesy grits were tasty. Friends said the spicy fettuccine was really good. Service pretty slow.
Make a reservation even for lunch. Totally with it though so cute inside and great food.
Ive had multiple experiences here and enjoy the look and feel of the place. The location is also super convenient for people staying downtown that want to step away from the party on Broad and be able to have a conversation during their meal. Beyond that, as long as you have reasonable expectations for your food and service, youll enjoy the visit, because while it is above average, I would hesitate to suggest that it was an elite experience. Side Note: The setting is great for dates and business dinners.
5 star service, 1 star food = 2 stars. They were out of ice cream, chicken, and oranges. And I was looking so forward to the milkshakes with booze. When our food came asparagus was really badly over cooked. Rice crunchy. My watermelon arugula salad came with six pieces of watermelon two of them I couldn’t eat because it was all rind and drenched in dressing. And my boom boom shrimp was a big big failure. Undercooked. So Gross! Not coming back to this place
Food was amazing & the drinks were so perfect. Brian was the best bartender we came across all weekend. Please dont miss out on this Nashville Gem!
Waited forever for our food, but it was very good when it arrived, milkshake was bussin.
We always enjoy eating here. Today we had the salmon and it and the cocktails were outstanding. Prices are reasonable and the location very convenient
Extremely average. We came here for brunch and the orange juice was watery. The broccoli smelled good but lacked any actual flavor… and the California sandwich was the same. It’s overpriced food with no return on flavor. Plus, the hostess wasn’t very nice. Our server Chase was nice though.Bottom line, The food lacks heart and soul. Save your money for a place who cares what you put in your mouth.
6th floor great views. Only 1 bartender and server up there got pretty busy on Labor Day weekend long wait. Server did best she could and was very nice! Food was just okay. Drinks good. They blast the AC, most of the visitors including us were complaining of how cold it was
Cool decor of Movie diners. There are around 7 items available for breakfast. Scrambled eggs only. If you like them scrambled... you are good to go, but apparently they dont know how to cook eggs any other way.The toast was limp and rubbery.
Six stories of diner options this place is amazing. Come here early come here late it doesnt matter theyre always open. Great menu and good food even at 1:30 in the morning. This is my go-to spot after drinking alcohol on Broadway.
The busboy was more engaging than our server. Limited breakfast menu for people who can’t eat meat.
The food was very good, we ate on the 4th floor which had an excellent view of downtown. It did take about 20 minutes to get out bill, which was a little frustrating. The service could have been better.
Best chicken and waffles in the Broadway area, sweeter waffle with a spicier side of chicken.I passed the Nashville sauce because the portion is three strips and that seemed destined to be too much heat.Showed up at midnight or so, sat on the 5th floor with great view of the city.Little pricy but was good.
I have been sitting here for 20 minutes and still have not been given my cup of coffee. The waitress is busy counting her tips and is very unfriendly. She seems overwhelmed with the Sunday Brunch crowd. All I want is a cup of coffee. My food just arrived and looks fabulous but still no coffee.
Overpriced and poorly made cocktails. Food is pretty good. Apparently they have a sports bar on the second floor that the hostess didnt mention when we asked about seating.
Good food and good service!! The hot chicken and biscuits were good!!
This restaurant has 6 diner floors the food is great I had the breakfast burrito the cheese steak sub I think the meat was roast beef lol really but is was good. 1st time eating roast beef. Love this place.
This place has a variety of options and the service is great. The view from the 6th floor is beautiful. The chicken parmigiana portion was exceptional. The plate itself was decent - not roll your eyes good, but not nasty either. I would say the best parts of the meal were the calamari with the banana peppers they were really tasty. Lastly, the brownie cheesecake is TO DIE FOR 😍😍😍🤤
Website was not updated and when we went in, they threatened us to get out. There were abundant of people behind us. Ill mannered Security guy need be disciplined
We had a great evening here the hubby and I. Ashley was our sever she was knowledgeable on the menu and was able to recommend some items as well I would suggest a few improvements. The tea wasnt sweet, and a very limited menu, and bringing a new glass for refills instead of taking the old glass back to the kitchen (COVID PRECAUTIONS). We opted for the chef special Pork chop with apple chutney. Asparagus and mashed potatoes with sweet potatoe pie. The location is beautiful, its downtown Nashville with a great view. Parking garage right next door. Will definitely visit again.
Staff super friendly and food was delicious. Id come here every visit to Nashville.
Went for brunch as it was close to our hotel. Sat at bar. Food was delivered quickly but mediocre.
I walked in on a Saturday morning and it wasnt what I expected to be.But, where Im from in Chicago the diner food pretty good, so I was optimistic. The the hostess showed me to my seat. The busboy, very nice guy brought the water and sent out my waiter Max. I looked over the menu, and I just couldnt figure out what I wanted. So finally when Max came to check on me and I asked him what he liked. Max recommended a few things, and I decided to go with the hot chicken wrap. Unfortunately they have to dull down the spicy hot chicken wrap for tourist. I had to add Tabasco sauce, and it was still really good. I also ordered the mac and cheese which can easily be turned into a lobster mac and cheese. it was awesome the sauce reminded me of a lobster bisque I had once. I can see the menu changing to offering a half sandwich and a cup of mac and cheese it would still be a full meal. I had enough to eat. I was full when I left. Max gave good service he didnt hover over my table. I will be going back for chicken and waffles. Id like to try the lemon bar.
Convenient place for breakfast and late night food. A bit pricey but the food was good. Note there are several floors to choice from and the first floor is open air. The upper floors are air conditioned.
We had an excellent breakfast here. I choose the breakfast burrito and my wife had chicken and waffles. They also offer quite a selection of mimosas if that is your pleasure.
The food and service are extremely underwhelming. I ordered the chicken parm and it was just an unseasoned piece of fried chicken on top of noodles and tomato sauce that tasted like it was from a jar. Not to mention, the prices were outrageous for the quality and size of the dishes. If youre more interested in the view than the food quality, then this is definitely the place for you. Otherwise, I wouldnt recommend spending your money here.
Great brunch menu for pre-Titans game. Got the burger. Ill definitely be back
