I found this goldmine fabric store while visiting from North Carolina. And on the day of their big sale! I bought 10 pieces of beautiful fabrics to make my skirt designs with. Just before I found Textile fabrics I found two beautiful VanGogh panels in a quilt shop in Clarksville. Textile fabrics had exactly what I needed to match my designs. I have a sewing school in NC and tell all my students about their amazing stock of fabrics, were only 1 state away :) Ill be back as soon as I get through at least half of what I bought!

The new(er) location is better lit. A little difficult to find. Quilting selection is pretty poor. Wide selection of boutique and couture style fabrics for gowns and dresses. Good thread selection. Notion corner isnt bad. Service left a bit to be desired. Ladies were discussing taxes behind the cutting table the whole time. Would have been nice to talk with them about their products.

I have always bought fabric from here for years and years. Multiple prom dresses and multiple wedding dresses were made from fabric I bought there. I always recommended Textiles to other people. The past several times I’ve been in the store, the associates have been beyond rude to me. They act as if it’s an inconvenience to help me. I had to go back to buy more fabric that I didn’t buy enough of and they didn’t have it. They acted like it was the end of the world to place an order for me but they reluctantly did. When I went back to pick up my order they had no idea who I was (despite having been a loyal customer for about 3+ years). They said they had no record of my order even though they called me two days before to tell me my order came in. The associate left for about 15 minutes and returned saying they didn’t have it. After I searched the store myself and found the correct fabric and color matched it myself, she asked me if I needed anything else. I told her I had another fabric that I needed some more of. I told her it was a silk Lycra blend and told her where I got it from. She then told me “we don’t have that fabric I’ve never seen that” and I assured her that I had made my first purchase of the fabric not too long ago and that I got it from here. Then she said “why don’t you go find it yourself.” So once again I searched the entire store and tried to color match my fabric to no avail. I told her I didn’t think she had it anymore and asked for her to place another order hoping they wouldn’t lose it this time. She told me that she couldn’t do that because she didn’t know what kind of fabric it was. I reminded her what the fabric was and asked to see a swatch book. She then said “are you sure you even got that here?” I was appalled that she would ask me such a question. She even had the audacity to tell me that what I was trying to do with my wedding dress was not what “normal people” do. I can assure you that I know what I’m doing and I’ve worked in bridal production for over 5 years.They are so disorganized, they don’t keep track of what they have or what people buy. They make no effort to greet or remember loyal customers. Their method of buying and selling is outdated. I’ve only worked with two associates that were ever nice to me. Any other time I’m there it is an inconvenience to help me. I have worked in retail my whole life and I know how difficult it can be but I would never want a customer of mine to feel like a bother or that I think I’m better than them. Check your staff Textiles. Snobs dont keep good business.

Being new to town I was so happy to find this amazing fabric store. Rare silks and designer fabrics in beautiful bright colors. Tulle, lining and Petersham. They even carry leather! Thank you to the team who helped me whip together a solution to repair a vintage Gucci skirt. I’ll definitely be back for gown fabrics.

The staff was absolutely charming!! Can’t prays them enough, saw a few reviews on the potential politeness problem in the past, seems completely fixed. But wow the price is high and the selection is not as diverse as expected. It’s designer fabrics, which if that’s what you want go fo it. But when combined with a limited selection or range of cloth types I just felt like my time was wasted. Sad to say because I’d go back, if I found any justifiable reason to go back.

This was the most pleasant and seriously very helpful to a concerned mother if the groom. Had a problem with a major item on the dress for the wedding & having just came into Nashville for the wedding I did not have any of my regular support to fix this major issue. In come the wonderful ladies here at your store! Kim was intuitive and knew what the issue is & made a big problem shrink to a very small solution - I can do in hotel room. I came to Nashville and forgot my belt to my dress. I went over to see if I could find something. The ladies were so helpful. After I paid and went outside to wait for my Lyft driver, I realized I forgot a needle and thread. I quickly explained, my driver would be here in 2-3 minutes, I needed needle and thread to make the belt. The lady told me to go wait for the driver she would get what I needed and be right out. True to her word she walked out with needle and thread and told me it was on the house. Thank you, thank you for all your help. My belt looks great, even my daughter commented it was nice.

I went in to find material for my wedding dress that my grandmother is making. I have zero sewing experience so I really had no idea what I was doing, but the ladies were so helpful and friendly that I couldnt have asked for a better or easier experience. They were incredibly knowledgeable and were excited to help me put together everything I needed. Their selection of fabrics is also great. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially those who may not know their way around a fabric shop.

This is my favorite store for fashionable and quality fabric. Joan is the salesperson I always look for because her vast knowledge and ability to help me find the right fabric for whatever my project is precious to me. She always asks if I need thread or a zipper which, without this help, I would doubtless forget. They have a wide selection of gorgeous silk, buttons and special occasion fabrics. Its such a pleasure shopping here. Unlike other fabric stores, I never have a problem finding something beautiful to buy and sewing wisdom in the same place.

While visiting Nashville this past week I googled fabric stores and found this little gem, Textile Fabrics. I am from Knoxville and own and design for a dog couture business, Barkley Couture. I have no place to buy beautiful trims here in town but Textile Fabrics has the greatest selection there is. I bought lots of trims and fabrics and I will visit again when I am in the area. The selection and customer service was top notch.

There is a good selection but it is kinda pricey. I asked for somebody to point me to the stuff you iron on to t-shirt material to make it easier to sew. They showed me to a silky strange fabric like none I had ever used before. I decided to take their advice since they are supposed to be the experts. I asked two of them how to attach it and one told me to follow the instructions to which I responded that it didnt come with any. She then said to iron it without any further elaboration. I am not new to sewing and have used fusion material before but nothing like this and I didnt know how hot I should have my iron and if I should use steam or not. They were no help. The material ended up being awful and caused bubbles in my material that I can only hope that I can quilt over and hide the bubbles. To make matters worse, this crappy fabric was $18.95 a yard. I should have paid attention before having them cut it but when they told me how much I owed I almost choked because I have never heard of this type of material being that expensive. I felt like they pointed to the most expensive thing they had even though it was of poor quality and I just hope I can cover the flaws it has already created in my quilt.

There were sooooo many negative reviews I just had to leave a positive one. My daughter and I visited the store yesterday and were there for probably a little over an hour. Every single salesperson we came in contact with was extremely helpful. The fabrics are wonderful and the service was top-notch. I dont know who the sales people were who works here previously but evidently they are no longer here. I will be back.

I didnt buy anything here when I visited but I would have loved to. They have high end fabrics like Ralph Lauren wool for suiting. They have lots of apparel fabrics. The store was really well organized!

I want to love this store but Ive never really had a great experience here. The three times Ive been, all sales staff ignored me until it was time to check out. Generally I like that but the reason they ignored me on my last visit, for example, was a local quasi celebrity had stepped through the door and they were fawning all over her. I needed help but couldnt get anybody to stop gushing over this person to help me. The prices are a tad high but the selection is pretty good, especially in the trims and laces. Its a shame they had to change locations because the original location was more convenient. They will send samples by mail so that was extremely helpful. Seems like at least twice a year they have a 50% off sale on fabric so that would be a great time to shop.

I found the sales person who waited on me to be friendly & helpful...even when brainstorming a product for an unusual application. When I called back later that day however, with a straightforward question, the store rep I talked with was curt and directed me to the instructions. The instructions were silent on the issue so I called back & asked if someone in the store might have some experience with the product & be able to answer my question. The womans curt manner escalated to agitation & rudeness.What a shame to wipe out the earlier experience which had actually been enjoyable & fun. Ill shop elsewhere next time.

Ive never sewn anything but went in with my pattern in hand. They were out of the 12 fringe the pattern called for so the sales associate said I should consider a shorter fringe and have the seamstress sew it in rows. I reiterated that I know nothing about sewing and she assured me this would work. When my seamstress confirmed it would not work I called to ask about an exchange/refund and they were quick to reiterate the no return policy. Suggesting I buy something that ended up not working with the pattern and then saying sorry is really bad customer service and they should have made an exception. I wont be back.

I had a great experience at this store. I dont understand the people who complain about standing around waiting for talking staff to help them. Why dont they simply call out to them to get help?But that was not necessary for me when I visited this store. I got plenty of willing valuable help, both in fabric and technique ideas. There was also a good selection of beautiful rayon prints.

My recent few visits to Textile Fabric (particularly since the move to their new location) have been increasingly disappointing. Perhaps they are under new ownership or have an entirely new staff? As with the experiences of other recent reviewers, I was not acknowledged or helped the entire time I shopped. Sales associates talked loudly among themselves, one of which bashing the sewing skills of a customer who had been in the store earlier in the day. What a huge disappoint from the wonderful resource this store used to be.

Dont go here if youre new to town, new to sewing, or have a stupid or beginner question UNLESS you dont care whether the salespeople are friendly, welcoming, or make to feel at ease. Youll leave, no one having spoken to you and having wasted your time. Having the exact same experience as other reviewers who witnessed salespeople talking among themselves with absolutely no interest in greeting or sharing their passion or knowledge with a customer, I felt as if I invaded their turf - a ridiculous feeling imposed by women who (1) are getting paid presumably to provide customer service (unless the owner is more interested in some elite club) and whom (2) one would think might have an interest in sharing their passion with other interested individuals. I work at Starbucks. Its not hard to pay attention to customers and be welcoming, while enjoying yourself. Sorry, Textile Fabric; your wares are nice, but you get one star in hopes that maybe someone will pay attention to this recurring problem marring your stores image.

We came from Memphis. It was a long 3 hour drive there and 3 hours back - a 6 hour drive in total. Textiles had lots of fabric, this is true. The selection was admirable.Im guessing one needs to be in the employees secret circle in order to get any service from them. The first 15 minutes of us being in the store - we learned all about their medical insurance and how some of the employees like it, others didnt. We learned about their retirement accounts as well. Those ladies spoke loud and proud - not once even looking at us.We made a few selections but had some questions as well. Stationed behind the counter 6 ladies - no one made eye contact initially - not until I said excuse me. I stepped away to put something back leaving my daughter at the counter unbeknownst to me, she had asked them a question that I asked once I returned and I was RUDELY told that she had just answered it and refused to repeat it. I mean, really - It was so ridiculous at how inattentive and how extremely rude these ladies were.We will definitely let everyone know just how badly we were treated there.

Am from Charlotte, so looked up the address for a fabric store while visiting in Nashville and found this one (Textile Fabrics) Decided to try drive over. I was totally impressed with everything about this store! The people were more than friendly -- amazingly helpful -- far more so than I find in the Charlotte stores! -- they gave me much attention, information on the fabrics, suggestions for fabrics, and how to use the ones I bought. Nelxt time I am in Nashville, you can bet I will drive over. Having read some of the reviews, I was hesitant -- but found a totally different experience than was posted. I loved the breadth of fabric -- found lots of knits, my favorite fabric. Anyhow, was a great experience -

I have been in this store several times and I have never been greeted. I’m not sure what happened when they moved, but the staff is rude now. Usually they just ignore me; however, at my most recent visit one of the old ladies scolded me for calling the selection of fabrics hanging in the back as scraps.

The store has a nice selection, though it is a little pricey. The fabrics arent labeled, so unless you know very specifically what youre looking for, the store can be difficult to navigate, especially considering how unhelpful the employees seem to be. I was in the store for about 15 minutes and was never once acknowledged by one of the four employees chatting at the counter, until I approached them to check out.

Yesterday I stopped at Textile Fabric Store during their going out of business sale. As I shopped I overheard customers being told by the owner and salespeople that they may stay in business if they can find another location. At first I thought, oh, good because as noted here, they have a large and lovely selection of fabrics, yarns, notions, trims, etc. What transpired later caused me to NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN.During the majority of my past visits I would have to flag down a salesperson and then they would give me short curt answers, might whisper to another salesperson, or would make me feel I wasnt spending enough money, or would generally telegraph I was an inconvenience or interrupting their good time - and maybe all of that at once. One visit I was purchasing pajama fabric and the salesperson left me with, Please dont be one of those people that wears pajamas in Krogers. I would like to say that I have had 2 positive experiences with one helpful knowledgeable salesperson.Yesterday I observed that previously helpful salesperson waiting on the customer in front of me. She told him, Youre going to make me ring up this one item? When she saw the look on his face, (and he wasnt smiling) she tried to back-peddle and make a joke of it. My salesperson rang me up and when I expressed surprise at the total, did offer to go over the sale with me. I declined because I didnt want to hold up the line. I went to my car and looked over the receipt and found 5 items that werent reduced at all. I immediately went back in the store to my salesperson and asked if we could go over my receipt. She told me that notions were not on sale, and thus those items were full price on my receipt. Wouldnt you think that a going out of business sale would put everything on sale? Signage was quite lacking in the store - you had to hunt for the few sales signs. My salesperson had to ask me the price of a few items. In addition, there was no signage posted at the checkout counter listing what items were on sale and what were full price.I asked to return 4 notions items (in their original unopened packages, not cut yardage of any kind) that were full price. My salesperson, (who gave me the impression I was interrupting her rock-n-roll flashback) said, The owner doesnt like to do that. There he is - you can ask him. The owner told me I could have store credit. I said, But youre gong out of business. My salesperson said, Yeah, you better hurry back in. (So they have time to resell these items before they go out of business but they dont have 2 minutes to accept them back from an unsatisfied customer.) I said, I have just purchased these, walked out to my car and walked back in and you wont take these notions back? He repeated, not looking at me, that he would give me store credit. I decided to accept my losses and told him, I wont be doing business with you again. Your salespeople are brusque and rude. He gave me a wave and a sarcastic Bye-bye.I have been in customer service well over 20 years, including having been a salesperson at Calico Corners Fabrics, and know what is good service and what is not. From now on I will shop at other fabric stores where I am treated kindly. I will no longer recommend this store (yeah, I sent them a customer a few weeks ago) and instead will broadcast my negative experiences with this store to everyone. So Bye-bye to you, too, Textile Fabric Store.

Visited this store about two weeks ago and I must say, the fabrics are VERY OVERPRICED! You can find some of the same fabrics at JoAnns or Hobby Lobby for less. And the sales people are some of the most rudest ever! No one said a word to me or my friend the entire time we where in the store and offered no assistance when we needed help or had questions. Didnt smile, walked right by you, all of that. Its highly unlikely Ill return.

Not a lot of selection and the ladies are too snooty

Lived in Nashville for 40 years. Loved the store when it was downtown and owned by different people. The ladies are rude-no doubt about it. Since they moved to Melrose area I have never been able to find anything I like. They just dont carry as big a selection of goods. I would rather drive to Fayetteville, TN and check out Sirs Fabric. I have sewn for years and made window treatments for designers so it is disappointing not to have a GREAT fabric store. The Fabric House on Sidco is no better, but they do have a bigger selection it seems.

I have been shopping at Textile Fabrics for 23yrs. I was with them when they were in Green Hills, have faithfully followed them in each move with the most recent move now on Craighead just a mile or so from their last location. What I have NEVER experienced have been rude, mean spirited or gossipy staff as noted by some of the reviewers. What I HAVE experienced have always been helpful and kind employees WHEN I HAVE ASKED FOR HELP. What I VALUE is my space to roam, think and ponder without an employee in my face. YES, I have had to wait at times for help but NEVER have I been talked down to, treated rudely or felt as if I was interrupting an employee party. YES, the employees talk amongst themselves and having exceptional hearing - I HAVE NEVER EVER HEARD THEM GOSSIP ABOUT A CUSTOMER EVER!!!!!! WHAT I HAVE HEARD HAS BEEN THE COLLABORATION OF IDEAS BASED ON CUSTOMER INPUT AT A WHISPER!!!!!!! What I have seen has been incredibly rude customers over the years expecting box store prices treating the employees like dirt at times. WHAT I HAVE ENJOYED is the music the staff plays and at times dancing thru the store to the 50s especially. WHAT I HAVE ENJOYED AND VALUED is the fact that customer and staff are a team when helping others with a design, fabric choice or whatever else may come up - I have gotten so many ideas from the input of customers because I keep my mind open to receiving input instead of making judgments.WHAT I WILL DEFEND is that the signs were very clear 60% off fabric and trims - one yard cut minimum fabric - WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED IT TO SAY???? IF THE SIGN DOESNT LIST THE ITEM THEN ITS NOT ON SALE - DONT ASSUME - PERIOD AND SIMPLE!!!!!!! Give the store a break - 60 percent off had the staff running 90 to nothing trying to help everyone with folks buying five plus yards at a time especially trims. YES the store was closing due to the lease being pulled out from under them but.......The fact that Textiles remains open and has moved is because the customers asked and pleaded for the store not to close. This store has been in the family for at least two generations that I am aware of which is rare in this age and may be the oldest privately owned fabric store in the country now. The employees enjoy each other and are friends - how many companies can say that ALL of my employees get along and are friends with each other at work and privately? I think that is a testimony to the owner and his ability to manage.If you complain and threaten someones business - you run the risk of ALL of us losing what we love and lets face it - there are not many privately owned high end fabric stores anymore - so folks if you have a problem - TALK TO THE OWNER or to Vicki and give them a chance to resolve the problem and realize that not all problems are fixable for the store to break even. IF you dont like the resolution keep it to yourself dont trash this fabric store publicly or any fabric store for that matter - privately owned fabric stores are an endangered item that I dont want to lose.I love this store, I love the selection, I love the space to roam and think, I love that I can get help from anyone in the store whether it be employee or customer, I love the atmosphere, I love the cleanliness of the store and its bathrooms, I love the fact that I feel that all staff members care about my project and my success in that endeavor, I love that I often hear employees encouraging others, I love that the employees like each other, I love that owner cares about his employees and his customers, I love that I can be me without judgments that no idea is without merit or that is not condemned because it doesnt follow the rules, I love that quality sewing matters, I love that if TF doesnt have it they know where to send you and do, I love that the employees dance while working, I love that I can laugh and dance while shopping, I love that the store is unique in what it offers, I love that the store is not perfect and that I have the freedom to shop at so many different privately owned fabric stores in Tennessee.

Ive been going to textile fabrics for about a year. I am new to sewing, and bought my first sewing machine last year for Burning Man. I made some great vests and faux fur accessories for BM08.From the moment I entered, I felt cared for. you need to understand that they deal mostly with experienced crafters. There is a laid back style to their customer service. Someone will come up and ask If need help. The idea is that you describe what you are loking for, and they make suggestions. Remember sewing is an art. so you thoughts for your project may not be exactly what their advice is!Listen, take what you think is good advice, share your opinons and make your purchases.The biggest advanctage is the large array of buttons, lace, zippers, etc... you cant find this stuff at JoAnns!Ask for advice on sewing, I learned alot and did a whole lot better with advice on my project. Also, bring in your half done projects, and they will help you out! there are sit in sewing classes which you bring your work in and learn.If you are looking for cheap fabric.. not the place... if you want something unique, and want to check in with the sewing community this is a great place.

I was with my husband on business and we were heading north out of Nashville on 65 to go to another business destination. I had 15 minutes to shop, so he said! So I went in, found the first person who asked if she could help me find something. I knew exactly what I was hoping to find, and told her what it was and that I had 15 minutes! Her name was Sarah. She was very helpful; I walked out 20 minutes later with the exact fabric I was hoping for, Sage colored dupioni silk for my mother-of-the-bride dress. And each yard was 40% off! Perfect timing!
