I had a fantastic experience working with Matt. He’s very knowledgeable but also easy to work with. He respected my budget and I left with two fantastic new knives. I couldn’t be happier.

The staff at Coutelier were extremely friendly and knowledgeable.I visited with the primary purpose of having a chef knife sharpened, but I was quickly drawn in by their huge selection of cutlery and kitchen tools.As far as knife sharpening, they did an excellent job bringing my workhorse knife to sharper than new condition. I believe quality sharpening stones were used, resulting in a sharp blade with little excess metal removed. My sharpening turn around time was very quick, however your mileage may very depending on how busy the store is.While I browsed the shop, the staff helped me look for knives and provided suggestions based on my preferences. The store carries many Japanese knives that you will not find in any other store in Nashville, let alone the majority of the US. Rarely are you able to handle such high quality knives in person. I handled a few knives and had ample time to narrow down my selection to a few knives I’d love to take home.I will be back again soon for knife sharpening and for their incredible knife selection. While quiet and unassuming on the outside, this high quality shop is a real treat for the Nashville area.

I’d love to say I’ve spent tons of money here, but honestly, it’s my better half who has bought all of my Christmas and birthday presents from these fine folks. I know own an excellent santoku as well as a paring knife, and a lovely Japanese cookbook thanks to her and the lovely people who work here! Thanks guys!

Coutelier was exactly what I needed -- a professional and knowledgeable knife sharpener with quick turnaround time. They try to deliver all knives back within 24 hours, and mine was done in about 5 hours! The price was very reasonable ($10-15 for a typical knife.) I loved browsing all of their cool gadgets and cookbooks, and chatting with the woman out front. She was very knowledgeable and warm and great to interact with. Ill definitely be back!

I first learned about this shop while visiting a highly respected knife shop in Osaka, Japan when the person helping me asked where I was from.This shop is incredible! If you are a chef at a Michelin starred restaurant or are just trying to up your game at home Coutelier has what you need.The first time I came in for a bread knife over the summer during COVID (yes, I started sourdough baking like everyone else) and I was quite happy to find an extremely knowledgeable employee and the highest COVID protocols (no more than 2 patrons in the shop at one time, masks required, and disposable gloves given to each customer).What I did not expect to find on my first visit were tons of cooking hardware other than knives such as sourdough baking material, Japanese cooking supplies, and an incredible assortment of cook books.I returned a few weeks ago to buy a chef knife for a Christmas gift and got the same level of support and COVID precautions. Nashville is lucky to have this shop!

Staff was super knowledgeable, she really knew her stuff. Wasnt pushy and answered every question I had. They have an excellent assortment of Japaneese knives and stones. Perfect for anyone looking to upgrade their knives and learn about the various types and style of knives at several different budgets

I was in the market for an EDC knife and did not realize that this store caters to chefs and cooks who seek professional type cooling knives at varies levels of quality. Even so, they were very welcoming and helpful. I enjoyed seeking the large number of gadgets and assecories.W t are not into EDC sales, they do have a couple of Japanese style folding knives. Overall, I was blown away with the knowledge of the employees. As a knife collector I started talking steel types and it was evident that they know their steel very well, which arguably is the most importaint factor, among many others that should be considered by any professional seeking a cooking knife.

If I had $10,000 I would spend most of it here.
