Wow the Finance team at this location is very very unprofessional. Victor, and Alex the manager, just wow. There are no words for how passive aggressive Victor was towards me.Basically handed me an application and wouldnt tell me what to fill out and walks away. Literally walked away without telling me what I needed to fill out - so I filled it out to find out only need the top filled out on.At the beginning every thing was going great - I was going to get the car, they gave me great deal but when I told them they forgot to look at my trade in Victor got mad. He wouldnt look at my car and gave me a low offer that was very insulting because they didnt tell him about the the trade in and they couldn’t get take back the numbers they had presented me.Apparently they can increase the APR depending on the trade in, and was mad because he was losing money on the deal so then refused to even look at my car. The salesman knew that I was feeling uncomfortable by his passive aggressive attitude but seemed scared to say anything. I felt very unwelcome and as I was leaving the dealership he came outside and I let him know how unprecedented he was to work with.He said he didn’t care because no one‘s going to do anything about it because they were losing money on the deal. The dealership salesmen were awesome and they apologized on behalf of the seller finance team.They got mad because they couldnt pull more money out of me so they tried to do it by low balling me on my trade. They also told me they dont have a boss and its a family run business.The owner should really take a look at taking action on his finance team. The culture at this dealership is very very bad and I feel sorry for the good employee

I’m so glad I took the time to see at least 6 dealers and finally found great service, honest people and great customer service. Thank you to the team of Luis Carranza, Aldo and Gaston. My purchase was smooth and painless. Trust me, I walked out twice before in two other dealers because of the nonsense surcharges. I wish I could post the pictures with my new car because I’m Listo for Labor Day. No more dealers for a long long time for me but I’ll gladly go back to see this guys for their professionalism, knowledge and transparency. I will definitely send family and friends to Luis and Aldo.
Hope this will help so sales people and learn from Aldo at this location, I have been shopping for a SUV for a few weeks so by now I have met some of the most horrible sales people till I met Aldo. He wasnt aggressive very calm and friendly, answered most of my questions to his knowledge. There were a few things in the SUV I was looking that need it a second look and Im planing to go back. I appreciated his time and effort to earn my business, I will recommended Aldo to any of my friends and family for sure, I dont appreciated when the sales person trying to push you to get something else or hold you hostages. I was in and out with a reasonable time. Thank you Aldo.
Update 26 Oct 2021: Moises Flores, the Service and Parts director reached out to me. We went over the situation and we were able to come to an agreement 🤝🏻 that was fair. Im happy with the outcome and Im glad Southbay Volkswagen has people that actually follow up and make things right. Changed my review from 1 to 4 stars.My experience was not a good one. Read along and I will explain. My 2012 Jetta Sel was giving me an overheating notification. I took it into VW southbay on a Friday 10 Sept 2021, that same day in the afternoon I was called and told There is nothing wrong with the vehicle, we suggest a coolant flush, Maybe that will fix it. $420.00 Dollars later, I pick up my car the following Monday 13 Sept 2021, and Mr. Avalos ensured me someone had drove the car and it was not overheating, so I drove the car home without issue. Tuesday 14 Sept 2021 I drive the car to work (26 minutes) and get an overheating notification. I drop the car off again at VW 15 Sept 2021. Later that day I get a phone call from Mr. Avalos saying We cannot find an issue, but lets change the heater core and Maybe that will be it. The heater core total was around $1,200 dollars.. let me ask you guys this, who wants to just throw money at their car with no guidance or assurance? I dont. I picked up my car for a loss of $420.00 bucks. THESE GUYS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE PROS, I mean its Volkswagen for crying out loud, shame on them for trying to just change out parts at my expense. My mechanic from Mexico diagnosed it, changed out 2 bad sensors and changed out a pulley in 2 days Total. Problem solved.... for a total of $3000 PESOS a total of $145.00 U.S dollars, my mechanic further stated that VW southbay changed out my coolant reservoir but used my old coolant reservoir cap .

Have been bringing my vehicles to South Bay VW for regular maintenance and service for quite a few years now ...Due to our current Covid situation, they no longer provide their shuttle sevice as before.That does not mean they dont take care of their customers.They now rely on Uber & Lyft.I was lucky enough to have them provide me with a complimentary Lyft driver.Not just any lil car, but a Mercedes !!!Roberto, my driver often drives for South Bay VW. Absolutely the worst service I have ever received from a car dealership. I went to look at a ID4 and was told by Rocke that I could not test drive it unless I was sure I was going to purchase it. Which I find ridiculous since that is the reason I would want to test drive it, to see if I want to buy it. Ive never been told that I could not test drive a vehicle. Ive even test driven $100k vehicles and not been told this. I would stay away from this dealership and go a little bit North where hopefully they are more helpful.

Just went in for service for my wife’s Volkswagen Jetta and politely asked the service representative to not wash the vehicle as I had just put a coating on it and needed it to cure (plus dealership car washes are practically automatic car washes that will destroy your paint). Long story short, I requested something simple, and yet the vehicle was still washed when I asked it not to be washed before service. If something so simple gets ignored then how do I even trust the actual service is getting done properly. Beyond frustrated and disappointed.

We just purchased my wife a 2022 Taos at South Bay VW. The salesman, Moises Garcia, made the experience great and I would definitely recommend Moises and SB VW to friends and family.
Stay away from this business. We had an issue with our Volkswagen, initially they said 5 days to fix waiting on a part. They called on the day prior and told us could be up to a month for the part. My wife started calling around and found the part, drove 5 hours and delivered the part to them. When we called other dealers they had the part or could get the part quickly from the warehouse. When we picked up the car and only after a long discussion concerning their lack of customer care they deducted gas money from the service bill. A word to the owners, if Volkswagen policy is you can only call 25 miles away for parts why didnt you call Mission Bay Volkswagen? Our new dealership whom, Eric, was incredible and went out of his way to help. Theres more to this story, look for it on social media.
A salesman Alberto sold us a 2016 Kia Soul and deliberately hid the cracks on the front windshield with the paint showing the $10210 Sale price . When we were done with the paperwork we found a lot of cracks on the windshield .Also during the sale he gave us a bad estimate for all the fees . When we went to the financing department other fees popped up. The finance manager was also rude and did not look for the customer’s interests just the dealer’s interests. I don’t recommend this place . They have serious PR, Customer service and management issues.
They never call you back. They dont call you to update on your car repairs, they dont call you to tell you your car is ready, and they dont return calls. Been playing phone tag for three days and still cant get my car from them. Terrible customer service.

After reading recent deceiving tactics, I was reminded how I was a victim many years ago when these kinds of reviews were not available, of outright lying by salesman and sales manager, they offered 1.9% on a lease and when I got home and calculate the rate it was 8%. The sales mgr could care less since I had signed already, and I didn’t know at the time, about the 3 day return policy that the law provides.. I wonder if it’s the same ‘team’ of thieves

Eliezer Rolon is one of the main reasons we ended up buying from South Bay Volkswagen. We had just been to the Honda dealership down the street and were pretty seriously looking at their Honda Civic hatchback that was slightly cheaper ($500 or so) than the Jetta we ended up purchasing. What sold us was not only the better handling, turning and features that the Jetta had to offer, but also Eli. His no pressure attitude and calm demeanor helped us to make a good decision that wed be happy with for years. The Honda salesman we interacted with should take a lesson from Mr. Rolon.
We have a 2019 Final Edition Beetle, purchased from Southbay. Took a year to get to our first service because we only had 3000 miles on it. Went in for oil change and tire rotation. After picking it up, our hubcap fell off on the freeway on the way home. I would have paid for a new one, kind of suspected they wouldn’t. But after three calls it was pretty obvious that our service rep wouldn’t return calls. Come on guys, just wanted you to order me a new one. I’ll Pay for it, but just ignoring us after being our dealer for 2 bugs and 7 years. I’m changing dealers. I’ll be more successful using someone else for service.
I came in for the 60,000 mile inspection of my Passat and decided to buy a new Tiguan the next day because we had been looking to replace my husbands car. I really feel well taken care of at South Bay Volkswagen.

Service advisor was friendly, but recommended an $800 for brakes but oddly when I took the car elsewhere for a better price, the shop told me the brakes were in good shape and didnt need work.
The parts department is great they go out of their way to give you great service I have been there a few times and every time it is a great experience
Apparently this place does no negotiations. They told me a car with balding tires (I would’ve had to replace right away) and worn leather interiors and missing car logos couldn’t be discounted any further. Sadly me and the two cars my family needed won’t be coming from this dealership. And be aware, they won’t negotiate on pricing. Whatever they have listed goes.

My adult daughter bought a 2017 Volkswagen certified pre-owned jetta. She loves the car, however, She was having problems with the tire pressure light coming on. The tire pressure was low each time. She brought it in 3 times and they couldnt find the problem. After the last visit I called the manager of the service department. My patience was completely worn thin as I listened to excuse after excuse from this guy. Finally, we decided he would take it back a fourth time to see if they could find an issue.Lo-and-behold, after 4 more hours in this place, they found a puncture.I dont want to speculate why it took 4 trips and a manager to figure it out, but I will say that if you have a young daughter and she needs to have service at this place, she should bring her father with her.

Dead battery, charged it. The radio codes need to be reset. They want to charge me $77. Crazy. Never liked volkswagen. My wife died last year and was just trying to get her car running

Boughtt a CPO VW bug, drove it home(I came from Northern California to purchase this car), hazard lights did not.work. The service department I took it to said it was a recall iitem they never fixed before sale. Additionally, the new tires they placed were never balanced or aligned, which cost me $129, Since I couldn’t bring it back to national city.Poor handling and transaction***since this writing I reached out to our sales person to explain the above and he asked for a copy of the receipt, so I expect to see a reimbursement.Unfortunately, still having problemswith hazard switch. Even after I thought it was fixed, yesterday it wouldn’t turn off, had to have AAA come start the drained battery. Now it is in the shop overnight in Northern California waiting for a part. Hopefully this is the last of it and I can start enjoying my new car.

Wow, what can I say? As soon as we got to the dealership Max greeted us with a very warm and friendly, non-threatening wave and smile. Never did we feel obligated, bothered, or pushed by his presence. Quite the contrary. He was very knowledgeable about his product. He was very straight forward with us, seemed very sincere, which is a plus for us, and was just over all, easy going. He made this whole car shopping experience such a treat. We could have chose to go anywhere, but because he is so great at what he does, and so personable why would you want to? He puts so much of his time, professionalism, heart, into what he does, you feel he is doing what he can, to give you a good deal. If thats not a good sales person, I dont what is. I would definitely recommend talking to him, as he will guide you and tell you what the best deals are. He is also such a pleasant guy to be around. He allows you to look around at your leisure, and he tells you the pros and cons about cars. I really enjoyed my time at South bay VW, and I felt like I was treated like family as opposed to a customer.
Terrible service. I was early and I couldnt simply drop off my keys for my appointment. The car that I bought from them works perfectly fine. However, their service is terrible. The shuttle left and came back an hour later. I waited out in the front of the store and the shuttle without me.I regret buying prepaid services from VW. U shouldve kept my Toyota.

I went in expecting to spend a lot of time trying to find out what was wrong with my car and Gaspar took the time to give me all of my options and was never pushy. I ended up having to leave my car there overnight but I was given a rental. He even took the time to make sure I knew that even though I was on a limited budget they would work with me to help me get back to Med school. I highly recommend Gaspar and the South bay Service experience. They try to help you as best as they can and they do a great job.

Went in 05/15 to get my vehicle inspected by the service dept. and was helped by, service advisor,Fred Chavira. Upon letting him know the issue with my vehicle he quoted me about $500 to replace Spark Plugs & to perform the Transmission Service. Upon recieving the call that my car was finished the bill came out to be $923.94. Horrible expirience how is it possible that their is no real prelimany expectation of your out the door price before any labor is done. To make things worse I let Fred know if their was any payment options due to the current economic crisis and he sent me a link with a type of loan with 39.99% APR. Insulting to say the least! Had to go back and forth with both Fred and his supervisor to get this resolved. Never getting my cars service here AGAIN! PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS! 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨P.S I appreciate the supervisor for empathizing with my dilema and for getting involved.
Nice selection of cars, but the sales staff was rude and dismissive of my ex-wife when she went to look at a car. The online sales team was fantastic to her, but when she was turned over to the inventory specialist he was rude and uninterested in making a used car sale. I couldnt recommend this place given this one experience.
It was an alright experience I do believe that it could have been better if it was a little faster I waited at least 3 weeks to get my car fixed and that is not including the issues with my insurance and waiting on parts. Hilda though was the best that she could be in help me through out the whole process. She made the experience overall good.

I came to South Bay Volkswagen after several awful experiences at other dealerships only to have the most pleasant, lovely experience at South Bay. I called about a Volkswagen Golf I wanted to test drive, met Victor, and he took me out in the car. He was never once pushy, he never pressured me to make the sale, and he was nothing but helpful and informative the whole time. He answered all my (many) questions, gave me all the information I needed, and gave me an excellent deal on the golf I had researched and wanted to buy. He also made sure it was beautiful and ready for me when I drove it home.Even more, I brought it back for detailing (included in the purchase) and a new battery after the purchase and everyone in service was also incredibly helpful. Both Cesar and Hilda did their best to make sure everything was beautiful and beautifully running by the time I took it home.This dealership has one owner -- Rudy -- who was also exceptionally helpful and accommodating, and, unlike the many other dealerships I visited the week I bought my car, South Bay Volkswagen had the most attentive, thoughtful, and generous people working with and for them. The auto service here tried to get me to pay for unneeded repairs. I was told my all my linkages where broke and I needed a new $1000 computer. I declined all repairs as I knew the linkages where in fact not broken. Upon picking up my vehicle the bad computer was not even listed on the repair report. Also on the repair report was not my address. Strangely enough the address was one that also appeared on my bank account when someone gained access to bank account and changed my phone number and address. The nefarious activity was stopped there but the whole situation has me in disbelief.

I have a 2015 Tiguan and I have been taking my vehicle for service for past three years, all employees and services excellent, until today that I waited for at least 12 minutes on the line, only for someone to answer and hangup the phone, called back and a lady answer the phone on a rude and disrespectful manner. I ask the person to provide her name and she hesitated and after asking three times she told me her name is Sigrid she transfer my call to the service department, only for call to be dropped again.Upsetting, hope someone called me so I can finally set up an appointment to bring my car back for service.
Been there for parts. No issue, I received good service, like you would expect from a dealer. Place looks clean and welcoming, not much to say. Ah yes, the part I wanted was actually a couple of bucks cheaper than online and ready for pick up the next morning. Rare enough to be mentioned.
I was here Yesterday returning the lease I had since 2011, I wont lie I was feeling kind of nervous and had that first feeling when you see a sales person for the first time. Max Smith fortunately was the gentleman that helped me and I am very grateful for that. I would say he really make me feel that he really wanted to help me find what I really needed and the right price. I was almost all day there trying to figure out what to do, he fought for the price I was looking for and really showed me every single speck of my new Jetta. It felt really great and at one point I kind of got emotional when he gave me the keys after signing, I finally got a car under my name only, so bye bye co-signers, if you go to this dealership ask for Max, believe me it will be worth it.

Im giving two stars only because I like Volkswagen... this one impeticular though cant get back to a customer to save their lives. I have called for two days just trying to get a quote on some work that I needed done and they couldnt give me a stright answer. This also isnt the first time that Ive had this experience with this dealership either! the lady was actually pretty rude on the phone saying that they didnt do what I was asking. But after having to explain it multiple times she finally understood. On both days they said they would have someone call me back before closing and Ive got nothing. So I decided to call another dealership (kearny Mesa) and they were able to give me an answer In litteraly 2 minutes. I guess I should have tried somwhere else right away but south bay is the closest dealership to me so why wouldnt I call them for what I need first. Any way this place just has awful customer service.
