I had originally gone in there for an oil leak and he was able to find the problem for me. Turns out it was an error from another mechanic where we had previously taken the car to before and we also got the oil change done there for a affordable price. They did a great job! I would come back again for any other problems and oil changes he seems like a great and honest man. I appreciate him sending me messages showing me what the problem was with the car.

Alex is a very genuine person with a big heart, to make my complicated situation easy to understand - I bought a car 2 months ago from a dealer right next to his shop and the AC has never worked, the dealer sent me to their mechanic and I have been dealing with them ever since ..I’ve took my car to them a million times (leaving me with no car all those times) and they never get it right. Finally the dealer referred me to Alex at Value Auto Repair, after a few days of consulting trying to clean up the mess that the original mechanic has done Alex was very honest and told me AND the dealer he would feel it’s better to let the original mechanic finish the job which I totally understand and I greatly appreciate his honesty but that’s not even the best part. Used Alex before for some electrical work for my headlight, and again today for an attempted spark plug change. i have lil over 233,000 miles on my car… also sent it in today to look at the wheel bearings, suspension and brake pads, and he said everything is still good. He recommended for me to not change the spark plugs because my car still runs good and smooth. He could have easily replaced parts to make some money but he didn’t charge me anything for checking out everything today. He pointed out a few other things that were sloppy from past mechanic work which was NOT done by him/his shop. It’s hard to find a mechanic like him nowadays. He’s extremely honest, short convo-type of dude and to the point and i respect that. I am definitely going to use him again for any issue to arise in the future for my car. Good service low prices very friendly. Called around for brake replacement and I was getting high prices on quotes to change my brakes. This place gave me a low price to replace my brakes and I was skeptical about taking my vehicle there. I watched the repair from far away and the corner of my eye so I dont get noticed I was watching them and they did a really good job at checking all my brakes. Not only that they repaired it but also drove n tested my vehicle. HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS PLACE. IM very HAPPY n pleased.

My mother and I came by on Saturday morning for a blinker light issue. Today was my first time as a customer. Ive been looking for a reasonable place to get my car needs met for a while. The reviews on this one were amazing and so I thought I would give it a try. Israel was very thorough and honest as far as the time it will take for my brakes to be repaired. It took a little over an hour to get all 4 tires done. The lobby has a tv and a lot of books to read. I enjoyed the selection of books about photography, art and gothic tales. I paid a total of $360.00 for my brakes (front and back). I was very happy with his service. He even came out to show me how my brake pads were looking at the time of changing them. I am so glad I found this place. Thank you Israel for all your hard work!

In regards to reviews for car auto repair shops, I dont write reviews till the works been done and I have seen that the repairs have held through the test of time. I had my shocks and struts replaced here for a 1999 Honda Accord at $1,500 less than what Firestone would charge me!!! Alex the owner let me buy my parts, where Firestone refused to let me and said only their parts could be used! Over a year later not a single problem! I sent my mom in to get her brakes done a few months later and nearly a year later not a single problem. I also took my Buick in for a pre purchase car inspection and asked Alex the owner to point out everything wrong which he did within 5 minutes just by looking at the engine. He didnt make one misdiagnosis. After that I took it to the Buick dealership who told me the exact same thing that he did for $100.00. Bottom line this place does great work, the work holds, and they are honest in what is said that needs to be repaired. The prices cannot be beaten or the quality of work so far that I have found in San Diego in my 40 years. Ive also been in and out of there for tiny here and there are repairs that Ive also held and advice. Never have I been ripped off or LED astray with advice from Alex or his mechanics. Bottom line this place is honest and can be counted on in all the ways that matter!

Today I took my work van to Alex and the guys at Value Auto Repair, I was greeted immediately, They evaluated the issue I was having (a very loud noise in the cab, I thought it was an exhaust issue) turns out I am no mechanic. Awesome service from Alex! I had 2 cars serviced there, my Accord needed an oil change (he even let me use the oil and filter I brought) and brake fluid change which was really quick, and also had my Camrys front brake rotors resurfaced and new brake pads applied. Alex was kind enough to lend me a car while the Camry was being serviced. The price I was quoted for was loads cheaper than what I was quoted at the car stealerships. Do yourself a favor and bring your cars here!

I cant thank these guys enough for the work they did on my 2011 Honda Fit! The AC went out over 4th of July. I tried all the at home fixes I knew to do, including recharging and troubleshooting relays. No luck. I took it to a place close to my house in Scripps Ranch. They diagnosed it as a bad AC clutch and compressor and priced it at about $930 for replacement. That sounded a bit steep to me, so I went on Yelp and asked for quotes. Many other shops came back with prices between $850-$975. Value Auto replied immediately with $600, including parts and labor. I confirmed a date and took it down there by 8 AM the next day. The work was started immediately and done in about 2 hours! Brand new everything and the AC works like a champ! Pricing worked out to be $379 for parts and all the freon charging magic stuff required and $187 for labor, then some taxes. Definitely more in the range of what I was expecting. They were all very kind, friendly, and provided fantastic service! I even received status updates via text as they performed the maintenance! I will most definitely be taking my car here in the future! Also, very military friendly!

So, Ive called every mechanic from chula vista and imperial beach to fix a camshaft sensor and they all said 45 - 165 bucks and Ive already have the parts on hand, I was very annoyed cx . Called Alex, he gave me a quote for a rear brake pads change. Went in to the shop knowing that two of the rear caliper slide pins were frozen but did not disclose this to Alex (i wanted to see if they would overcharge me or add a bunch of useless upgrades to my bill). They were able to get the slide pins out, resurfaced the rotors, and changed the brake pads out WITHOUT changing the original quote. Alex if you read these you officially have a life long customer.

I came in last weekend to get my rear brakes replaced and prior to leading up to the appointment, we messaged and conversed on the phone a few times for thorough/in depth information on the type of brakes they use for my 2011 honda accord. The appointment only took 1.5 hours and during that time, they let me borrow their loaner car to do some shopping at Walmart about 1.5 miles away. While I was shopping at walmart, Alex (the owner) was texting me the progress and ETA of my car and work they were doing on my car giving me a huge peace of mind knowing they were being so efficient and thorough with their work. By the time, I returned 1.5 hours later, they even provided some more information and suggestions on my car how to better maintain my brakes and auto in the long run. They were also by far beating at least (if not more) 5 other auto companies I reached out to compare brake replacement costs by about half the price! Ive already referred them to my coworker! This repair shop is like no other. Alex (Ata) runs his shop with honor and respect. Driving our Toyota Prius down from Los Angeles to catch a flight in Tijuana, the Prius broke down upon arriving at CBX. I initially had the car towed to the Toyota dealer. Dealer advised me it was the transmission. Toyota Dealer wanted a ton of money to repair (Over $5,000!). I was about to send my car to the junkyard before I called Alex from the airport on my way out on vacation. His price was VERY reasonable. He picked up the Prius from the dealer, replaced the transmission and while I had the car there also did the brakes and headlight replacement. Upon returning from vacation, the car was ready and waiting for us. Drove the car back to LA in running condition and better than before. Thanks again for operating your business the way you do. Even though you are in San Diego area and I am in LA, I will now be planning my auto repairs around my trips to San Diego.
