I took my younger sister to this comic book store. She loved. We loved how there is an area to come in and play games with your friends. Its a little hidden but overall we loved the customer service. Made us feel welcomed. We will be back again.

Perfect comic book store. The had exactly what my 8 year old daughter was looking for, and the employees were awesome, especially the woman that helped her pick out her brand new glow in the dark pink dice!

Been a long time customer, mostly for comics and occasional games. George and his loyal team are by far the best in the metro area. The service has always been amazing. I always enjoy the family atmosphere.

Not extraordinarily helpful but there were many people in preparing for a large campaign and looked to only be one worker present. Also, in an attempt to make small talk with the worker I think I accidentally insulted them and I dont think I would be too helpful to someone that just insulted me either.

These guys are great we just started getting Into magic and they help us with all our questions and even let us play there so they could help when we got stuck. The staff is super friendly and it is a welcoming environment. Will definitely be making all my future mtg purchases from them.

Without a doubt my favourite nerd shops of all time. The owner, George, is one of the nicest and most down to earth people you could ask for. Kat and the other employees are insanely nice and helpful. And for what its worth, most of the employees have been there for what feels like forever. Imagine how great of a boss someone has to be to keep employees in a comic shop for years on end. Not only that, George goes out of his way to recognize the efforts all his employees give.Thats just the atmosphere. Product wise, they have a massive warehouse in another location that feeds the online half of the store, so they may not always have what youre looking for in the store front, but if you give them a day or two, they will absolutely pull anything and everything you could want from the warehouse and have it in the store for you. Price is fairly cheap more often than not. And if its not on the cheap side, its going to be average cost at most.Theres always some sort of small crowd playing something, even George will jump in and play some games from time to time.

A great place to shop for comics, games, cards...almost anything nerdy. Prices are great, but it is the family atmosphere that brings me back again and again. This shop really is the Cheers of New Albany.It is not a great place to find douches, though if you asked their friendly, knowledgeable staff where is the best place to find them they would have lots of suggestions to offer. They are helpful like that.

My daughter works there and loves it. She feels like she is working with family. And the owner is very good to her and the rest of his associates. It says something about an employer when and associate want to go to work.

Smaller than some stores, often times space is taken up by what seems like the regular trolls for whatever unsanctioned games they want to get in. Comics are a nice touch but the Magic cards are more than you will pay anywhere else. Has been around for a while and if you havent given any other shops a try I would consider branching out to see what best suits your needs.

This is a wonderful place to shop for comics, comic merchandise AND a great selection of tabletop games! Its also a place to hang out and discuss pop culture with fellow customers and the amazingly friendly and helpful staff. Looking for a game? They regularly host gaming events of all types! This place kicks more butt than an angry Bruce Banner!

This place and the people in it have contributed to and enriched my life more than words can describe. Ive made countless lifelong friends here and cherish every moment spent in this establishment. My children read comics and play MTG with me so they also enjoy trip to the comic shop and everyone there is friendly and helpful to them.

Despite the small size of the space, theres an amazing amount of space. Im not a big comics guy, but they have a nice selection there. What was really impressive is the games selection and the discount on a lot of their stuff. They have a lot of demos available so you can try before you buy. The best part is the friendly staff. Everyone I talked to either knew what they were talking about or who to yell for if they didnt. They made everyone walking in through the door feel welcomed and didnt look down on them for what they were after.

Probably my favourite comic book Shop and card store Ive ever visited. Everyone there is friendly and respectful. I feel like family when Im there instead of just another customer. Empire is the only place Ill buy comics, magic cards, and board games from at this point because nowhere else Ive been to really compares to the service I receive every time Im there.

Always great staff, me and my friends shop here whenever we have some tabletop need. Weve been coming here since high school and now that Ive got a job in IT I plan on spending a lot more time and money here. Just recently went in and bought like 4 books for D&D 5e and the pricing was great, basically got one for free! Also bought my cousin a really great magic deck after getting some suggestions (he finally beat his brother). Just a generally great place to hang around at with great staff and fun games on display.

Glad Georges store is loved and appreciated by many. I was only in Indiana for a year but I was that MTG kid back in 1999 who waited outside his store before opening time to hangout there every weekend. Learned a lot of magic and had great memories. Support your LGS.

I have been in this store a handful of times. From what I have seen from inventory and accounts from friends, this place is quite good. If they do not have it it will be ordered and delivered quite fast. They usually have events which are pretty fun. Side note there is a bar next door.

I have been going to Empire at least once a month for the last year and a half. Its always fun. I think the prices for all the games we get are reasonable (have rarely found better and if so has always been by less than a dollar or so), and there is usually someone around to play games. If they dont have the game they can usually get it fairly quickly (provided its not related to a publishing issue). George and the staff are make it great.

Love the selection great service and great employees. If you have an issue the owner will go out of his way to make it right. So if you like comics, and playing magic with your friends and community with a great selection of board games then stop in and check it out.

Ive been inside only three times, but each visit made me feel like a regular. I only wish I could spend more time browsing the endless supply of games and stuff. This isnt your daddys comic book store, this is what your daddy wished his comic book store could be.

The only negative about Empire Comics, is that I cant award them 75/5 stars, which technically is a flaw of Google and not theirs. This place is awesome, with amazing ownership and an incredible and supportive community. Like many successful businesses and things that people enjoy, there may be a few random trolls posting the odd review, but anyone with sense will realize that Empire Comics is the best.

I drive 30 minutes just to go to this store. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a large selection of board games and if they dont have it in stock they can order any game and have it for pickup the following day. They have the best prices for any local game store I have ever seen. I will be buying all of my board games from here from now on. 2 thumbs up!!!! Highly recommend it.

I went here looking for an odd ball comic and found it. While I was there I asked about another comic and had them order it for me. The staff was friendly and fun, very knowledgeable about comics and doing business locally is great. go check them out I promise youll find something there you like, comics, games or trading cards. they have it all.

The owner is one of the friendliest people I know. He doesnt run this shop to make a profit like other comic book shops (he has his website for that.) Instead he runs it so that he can share the things he loves with people.Generally everything in this place is always on discount, usually 20% off. Making it by far the most inexpensive place to feed your hobbies and interests. It has a great selection and always has people ready and willing to play any of the numerous boardgames. George Melton has been running a top notch comic and game store since the early 90s. If you want something related to comic books board games or trading cards then he has it. George is also a talented artist and has his comic and game art posted around the store.

The have a super friendly staff but a small collection of product to pick from. They also hole many Wizards of the Coast sanctioned events, which is nice. The also sell MTG cards and sleeves and board games.

I havent been here in a while, but I spent many years going here. The owner, George, is a great guy and will help you find or order any comic you could possibly want. He runs great sales, and there seems to always be card tournaments or various TCG pickup games going on. A lot of the people have known each other for many years, so it can be intimidating for a newcomer. It is worth it to stay and get to know them and make friends though.

Have shopped at Empire Comics for a very long time and find that the service is pretty darn good. Its great, really. The people working at the shop are friendly and make coming there a pleasure. I hope George Melton and company keep doing what they are doing for a long time to come.

Best part about this comic shop is the holds program and the friendly shop employees. They are extremely flexible and easy to work with for holding comics or special ordering pretty much anything (i.e. books, toys, collectibles, pop culture items, etc), so I keep coming back. The shop is a little small and could use some updates, but the locals who frequent the shop dont seem to mind. They keep things very community-focused with ongoing game events. The owner is very friendly and supportive of those who frequent the shop. Its a cool place!

Its okay, I was expecting more organized place. I asked for sea serpents cards for Magic and was handed a binder full of forest cards witch wouldnt have a single one. The gentleman working didnt pay much attention to us after that. The female working register had to help us out with different cards. They seem to have little of everything. If you want to sell cards Id look elsewhere tho.

Empire is a great place to get any sort of board game youre looking for. If they dont have it, they can usually get it in quickly. I began going to Empire in the 90s back when Magic The Gathering came on the scene in full force. The owner has been extremely successful at keeping up with the gaming industry trends and his customers needs the entire time. He has a loyal customer base of all variety of comic and gamer geeks (myself included) who he treats almost like family. The store has a staff of hand picked, skilled younger folks whos knowledge seems to surpass their years in most cases. You can tell one thing about everyone who works at Empire: this is not just a job, it is their passion. Ive moved to Louisville since I first started going to this shop, but even now with the bridge toll, the selection, service, and prices make it very much worth the trip.

Fun and personable atmosphere. You feel like your walking into a friends house if your friend was a comic/dnd/board game/all things nerd fanatic. The perfect place to pick up that new set of dice or catch up on a comic and with a staff thats ready to help newbs or chat with the well established it is an open environment and one of my favorite little hole in the wall shops to visit on a whim.

I visit Empire Comics every time Im in town, its a must visit in New Albany. I remember buying comics from George and Empire when I was a small kid, and then Pokemon cards when I was a little older. His collection, knowledge, and passion for comics and games are unrivaled. Great place.

I got their last copy which a friendly store associate gladly tracked down for me in less than 30 seconds all the while saying I hope I dont have to give you bad news then boom she says here its the last one we have! Started collecting silver age comics a couple months ago so I came in here to find some on my list so I asked if they had any silver age spider-man or daredevil and she said if there is any they would be mixed up in these boxes but there wont be any first appearances so I looked and didnt see any but on my way out there were 2 daredevil comics on the wall and 1 was a first appearance so I looked at it better and it was way over priced. They dont know where any thing is at and over price comics. Do not recommend.

Words dont really express the amazingness behind this place. Everything from the inventory to the owner is 100% genuine. I dont get to stop by as much as Id like but when I do I never feel like it was anything less than great. Everyone there is super helpful and are always looking for way to lighten the guests days. Youre not going to find a better nerd shop anywhere else and why? The passion. Everyone who steps into empire has a huge passion and I have seen very few shop owners that could match Georges enthusiasm and love for the very things he sells.
