The best day of my musical life was when our paths crossed.Tom is now in his own shop, around the corner from the old place. Though I have not seen Tom in years, I want to say that in the hey-days of music here in Connecticut..Tom Baxer was ( and still should be ) widely respected. Our paths crossed in the 1970s and until the West Hartford store Tom was the Guitar Guru at closed years later.. Tom would not only recognize upcoming/unique young talent- but LET YOU KNOW he admired your playing! Some of the finest instruments I ever owned..Tom helped me get and ALWAYS gave me a fair shake-ALWAYS. For 25 years or more, it is tough to make a living in Connecticut doing anything music and it makes me downright sad to read reviews from people who not only are very negative towards Tom and his store.. but seem to COPY each other which in my opinion- is totally B.S. like someone had their buddies leave additional reviews to hurt the guys business! Perhaps Tom recognized a con man or game and didnt play along? Oh... he acted irritated?? Perhaps it was because Tom Baxer has forgotten more about music ( in all its aspects ) than many these days will EVER know and some ignorant ( musical genius ) treated him disrespectfully! Tom, THANK YOU from all of us old professionals who hold you in the highest esteem, and I will try to visit soon!

Fixed my flute, new pads, inside and outside cleaned, headjoint slides into the body so smoothly after his repairs. Survived through marching band season and 2 concert seasons.

I wouldnt go back to this music shop. I was looking for a used guitar, but Tom was unhappy with me trying out his guitars, or would try to coerce me into purchasing them after I played them. Also, he wouldnt let others use his equipment without vowing to buy from him. It was a bit ridiculous, and totally defeated the purpose of a music shop. Really disappointed with his service, only 1 star from me.
