Our fireplace is getting to be older and we were at a junction of putting good money after bad or getting a new fireplace.The technician took the time to explain the risks and benefits of continuing to repair the old one or get the new one. He was courteous and professional and talked the whole decision out without angling toward a sale or any ulterior motivations.We took a chance on repair and the tech:* Completely disassembled and cleaned the whole unit* Took apart the deteriorating side and back walls* Hand-painted and reassembled them so that none of the deteriorating parts that had faded over time were hidden or repainted.* Courteous and professional especially during COVID.A fantastic job, highly reccommend!

The Flame-Tech TeamWe are extremely pleased and impressed with the two Flame Tech fireplace installers, and the two Briggs Improvements contractors who replaced our Fireplace yesterday.Both teams arrived ahead of their scheduled arrival time, which to us, was an immediate sign of professionalism. After the two teams assessed the most suitable and practical method of removing our old fireplace, inside and outside, they went to work.As the Flame Tech installers worked on removing the old fireplace and preparing the area for the new fireplace, the Briggs Home Improvement contractors worked outside removing the external fireplace components and redesigning the area for the new fireplace.Both teams took a great deal of care, and pride in the installation and the integration of the new fireplace. Both teams were very careful to install the system in a manner that maintained the integrity and aesthetics of our home, which we so appreciate. We had our fireplace installed in mid-2019. The fireplace install was very professional and detail oriented. The stonework installer was awesome. The layout was completely custom and it was not in a pre-fabbed pattern and pieced together like other stone systems. During the install, they were completely flexible with a few minor last minute changes to the design.The mantle is a cast concrete product for safety, but unless you touch it, it looks exactly like an old beam. We are also very happy with the hearth that we added and the few extra seats that it provides for gatherings throughout the year.We recently had our yearly service which included glass cleaning, dusting, ember refreshing and other maintenance checks. Everything went smoothly, even changed the remote batteries!I highly recommend Flame-Tech to be your fireplace company.Here is a pic of our fireplace decorated for the Christmas Season.

Tech came and diagnosed our problem, was able to order parts for our fireplace (18+ year old Majestic model). Another tech came back with the parts, fixed the problem, repainted the inside and replaced the logs and embers. Definitely a first-rate repair, worth the $600 instead of a whole new fireplace for $8000.

First experience with Flame-Tech. Bill arrived on the early side of the scheduled window, calling ahead to say he was his way. Friendly, professional and clearly knew his stuff. My issue was that there was a minor explosion (not sure explosion and minor should ever be used in the same sentence but...) in the fireplace. Bill examined the unit, determined the root cause (blocked gas vents) and resolved. Inspected for safety and back up and running. He did explain the potential for future issues with some of the other components (due to age, excessive heat, etc) but no hard pressure (or scare) tactics, just the facts. When/If there are issues down the road, Ill be calling Flame-Tech. Thanks, Bill for the great job and peace of mind.

Updated Review--- This review is updated to remove superlatives and suggestions. I’m posting here and for KSQ because our tech said he came from New Castle even though we live in PA. Tech came to service Majestic Fireplace. After $119 just to come out which I agreed to, the Tech said Majestic was no longer in service, suggested he could fix the unit but should the valve break next there would be no parts and we would need a new unit anyway. The Tech was very respectful and courteous but he suggested we look to buy a new fireplace and quoted us around $6,000. The cost to clean and replace the pilot and embers was around $545. The technician did warn us that we could choose to fix the unit, but there would be no other parts to replace should the unit fail and he could not guarantee that it wouldnt further break. We chose to hold off until we could do more research. The tech further explained that he could put the service fee towards a new unit, but not the repair (company policy).After some research Majestic is still in service and making new as well as making replacement parts for all models. Majestic while it was bought over by other companies over the years, still is in service, making all original and new parts, and making new units.When I reached back out to Flame Tech, the original tech advised that he had asked around his company and believes he was mistaken. He then suggested that the sales part of Majestic was sold, but their parts section of the company was still in service.Had we known that parts were still readily available and even if the unit would have another failure down the road that we could still repair it, we would have gone forward with the repair that day. Even if the future repair would have been another $5-600, the total of both repairs would be 1/6 the cost of getting a new unit.After posting my original review, Flame Tech suggested that there may be a misunderstanding on my part and offered no remedy other than offering to come out and replace the unit at full price not including the deposit. Either the Technician was unaware of the current status of Majestic or was getting wrong information from his company, this review is not a reflection of him or his conduct. This review is on the overall experience and lack of information to make the best informed decision on the date of service.

Again, we are expressing our happiness, and our satisfaction with the service we received from the Flame-Tech staff and service team.This past summer (2020), Flame-Tech technicians removed our old fireplace and replaced it with a new fireplace, with a remote-control feature.We began using our fireplace with the remote-control feature mid-October as the temperature began to cool.The system worked flawlessly until this past Tuesday when the remote-control unit stopped working. I called-Flame Tech and the receptionist scheduled an appointment for a service technician to come out the next day (today, Wednesday).Nick, the technician, arrived ahead of the scheduled time, as have all of the Tech-Flame technicians. He was friendly, pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional. He immediately identified the problem with the remote, and the problem was me. I had inadvertently turned the thermostat feature on that was set at 59 degrees; therefore, the remote could not turn the fireplace on, since the thermostat was set low.Nick turned the thermostat feature off and voilà, the remote worked as intended. Nick, carefully, and pleasantly walked me through the various features of the remote including the thermostat feature, as did the technicians who installed fireplace had also done. Flame-Tech has always performed flawlessly ever since the day they installed our fireplace gas insert. Every year after they come out and service our fireplace on a maintenance agreement and kept it running. We have seen our heating bill go down as we can heat our family room and adjoining rooms without having to heat the whole house. Their technicians are knowledgeable, efficient and in the time of the pandemic scrupulously followed protocol.

Have dealt with Flame-Tech since initial install of fireplace. Build of stone chimney and fireplace was very efficient and well done. Adds greatly to our main living space. Yearly check up and maintenance has always gone smoothly. Same technicians each year-and they were part of the original install-so they are quite familiar with the system. They are always prompt and efficient. Take great care in protecting home with drop cloth and cleanup. They are personable and present a good image, and are very knowledgeable about my system. They have never tried to upsell or push needed repairs. Have been looking at burner for past two years with indications it will need replaced, but in future, not at this time. I appreciate this type of feedback and honesty. I would highly recommend the company and its service.

The Flame-Tech Team is phenomenal! I dont think there is anything they cant do. They removed a wood-burning stove for us and replaced with their fireplace. They were able to use the exact footprint from the old stove which eliminated the need to replace carpet. They carefully removed some of the stonework fom the wall behind the fireplace in order to relocate the old opening to accommodate the new one and then repaired the old hole with stones they removed. My recent service with Jay was very professional and pleasant as usual. I totally recommend Flame-Tech to anyone wishing to have a first rate experience.

We really liked Flame Tech! Bill was professional, knowledgeable and tidy! He even took his shoes off when he walked into my house! I was impressed, I usually have to tell contractors to do this. Unfortunately, they were too expensive for us! We had our plumber install our new gas log set. ( Purchased from Home Depot ). I wish there pricing was more competitive! The diagnostic fee is a little steep other than that great company. We will have them clean our chimney next year.

Bryan, our technician, arrived on schedule. He removed his shoes upon entry and protected the work area with tarps, both on the hearth and the carpeting in front of the hearth before beginning to work. He told us what was included in this service call and the quoted price for that work. He took pictures of the unit, noting the log arrangement. He cleaned each log individually, the burner unit and the walls of the fireplace. He cleaned the gas flow jets, added new embers and reassembled the unit. He checked the venting outside and was very thorough. He asked if we had any questions or problems with the unit and made sure everything was operating before he finished. He vacuumed up all debris from his work and asked if we needed anything else. The charge was as originally quoted. Quality work, professionally done. 5 stars in my book.

I purchased a gas fireplace from Flame-Tech close to 10 years ago and use it every night between October into May. Its beautiful and Ive never had 1 problem with it.My stone chimney, inside and out, had many problems inherited from the previous owner. Much work needed to be completed including stainremoval, grouting and dry wall replacement, water leak repairs, and almost complete overhaul of outside chimney. Flame-Tech fixed everything and its perfect. Two other companies that I hired before Flame-Tech did not accomplish the repairs, I had persistent problems.Everyone from the receptionists, Sam and Tiffany, to the entire staff are friendly and professional, and the skilled experts who installed and maintain my fireplace are exceptional.Thank you, Flame-Tech. Called for service and all they talked about was what they needed to be paid. Confirmed the service date and all I heard was 50% deposit on parts if we have to order. After reading other reviews on this site I felt comfortable not using flame tech. As one person wrote dont say I didnt tell you. In my opinion when a company wants you cash in hand and thats all they talk about, move on.Update: I did get another appt with someone else. I suggest to anyone call and call around till you talk to someone on the phone who doesnt cry money all the time. This person had another job to do in my area and did a diagnostic for free. Service was reasonable.When a company defends themselves quickly with a poor review it is said they are a poor company to deal with.I am (we are) happy we did not use Flame Tech.

Dave came out and addressed our “antiquated” wood stove..... the stove should be in the Smithsonian or maybe in the Neanderthal exhibit. Took pictures of every angle. Explained everything we needed. It was obvious from the jump he knew what he was doing. Even knew what the stove was. (Took me forever to google it). Well worth having flame tech handle the job.

We had the most unpleasant experience with Flame Tech. I made an appointment for our annual maintenance/check-up and to have them clean our chimney and replace the fiberglass gasket on our wood-stove door.The woman who made the appointment explained that there would be a fee ($119) for the technician to come out but that the fee would be applied to our bill as long as we had all of the services performed which he recommended. I agreed, we like to keep our equipment in tip-top shape.I took the day off from work to meet the tech. He walked in and announced our wood stove “did not meet code” (it does) once I expressed my surprise since our insurance company signed off on it, he changed his mind because he “didn’t realize it was zero clearance”. He then went on to explain all of the parts that required replacement. Okay I thought, no problem they are all under warranty. The tech then leaves. I wrote a check for $119, and neither the chimney or Door Gasket were addressed.The tech also implied there was a problem with our firebox due to the condition of our baffle. I contacted the manufacturer and was assured we are in good shape.The manufacturer did not believe one of the items the tech wanted replaced needed to be replaced but they were kind enough to warranty it anyway. The parts arrived, I installed them and called them back to request the tech come do the originally requested maintenance.I called 3 times to schedule the maintenance items and was given the run-around. The fact that I installed the warranty parts was a huge issue (they are designed for the homeowner to swap out per the manufacturer). It appeared that they had intended to charge me for installing the warranty parts and that’s why they were upset.I was then told by one of their employees that the $119 on account was forfeited because the service wasn’t completed within 30days. I explained that the time limit was never discussed, she responded that we were told when I made the appointment (def not) and then “it’s on the bottom of your invoice” I expressed how ludicrous that is and also that we had to wait for the warranty parts to arrive per the technician . She then changed her mind and said it was because the services should have been performed the day the tech came out. I explained that we were upset that the work wasn’t performed the same day since it meant a wasted day off work and that was the decision of the tech.Throughout the process they were unresponsive and rude. We did finally receive a full refund after I repeatedly insisted since they did absolutely nothing.****update**** we just had a highly recommended fireplace company perform the services we had initially requested from Flame Tech and a thorough inspection showed our equipment to be in excellent working order save the door gasket...

Not very friendly office staff. They think as there technician or owner that their xxxxx don.t stink.After charging $300 plus dollars gave an estimate of over $600.00 for repairs.. Did not do what I asked of them. Seemed to be more intent on selling a chimney replacement. Asked them to clean first then fully inspect, did not do it. Tech said he could see cracks 7 down. Into a dark, soot covered hole, on a vertical service. Cant be done. Said the entire chimney was old and bad. It was built in 2007. Nice try flame tech. Move onto your next victim.In response to the owners response... first off how could you say that the inspection was done at no cost when the bill was about$120.Next, when I asked your tech about heat shield he laughed and said it was not a UL listed product, which is false, it is UL listed #1777 for cerfactory products.I instructed you to bring a 40 ladder which you did not and you used mine that I has put up.You said a video inspection was $550, I had one done yesterday (12/14), for $180 After they cleaned it for $170 . Found some minor, typical flue pipe cracks. One medium about 4 down.Did I mention that this company pushed for a total chimney rebuild ? Just a mere 20 to 30k they said.

Was told installation would be 4 to 6 weeks from time of 50% deposit. Actual installation on 12/27 was 7 weeks from deposit date. Installation of unit was done professionally and looks good. Gas meter was installed the next day to provide gas supply to house. Technician arrived on 12/30 to turn unit on. He was able to get a flame, but could not get the blower to work. Another service person will be coming to trouble shoot the blower problem next week. I will improve my rating to 4 stars once the blower is working.1/5/2018: Technician replaced blower fan. Now working. However, I wasnt there and my wife paid the balance of bill ($880) for work which has yet to be performed (chimney repair and waterproofing). This work cant be done until weather is warmer. I will call on Monday to get the money credited back to my charge card. Will change to 4 stars if they agree to this.1/8/2018: Well Flame-Tech agreed to refund half of my over payment. Stated there was a 50% deposit requirement. I can understand this for the original installation, since they needed to order the fireplace unit. However this shouldnt be required for chimney service yet to be performed. As a result, my rating will remain at 3 stars.

Sham. Sham, sham. This company is in business to collect a servive fee from each customer ($120.00)but does provide any any service. But what you will get is a sorry excuse why they can not fix your fireplace and a wrinkle piece of paper describing what they FOUND. Do the math yourself. Im just 1 out of the 100 people they ripped off. My advice, Keep your money and look somewhere else.

We just moved into a home and had a full inspection done for the homes two fireplaces by another licensed and certified professional. Flame tech used scare tactics to try to get us to replace almost all our fireplace components when all that was needed was a pilot light assembly. Since we did not want to pay close to $1,000 for something that cost between $25 and $80 we were forced to pay the dispatch fee. If I did not already have a full professional inspection and complete documentation detailing and combating every single issue the Flame Tech “found” then I may have been taken advantage of and tricked into paying for the service. The Flame Tech sales guy tried multiple times to say that our original inspection had no merit and that the company that performed the inspection was unfit to do so and did so incorrectly to attempt to back his own outrageous claims that we would be in danger if we did not agree to all the work. Flame tech will most likely say something along the lines of we legally cannot allow your fireplace to operate unsafely, because of what their technician diagnosed. Its one thing to run a business in that way but to claim to know more than another certified and licensed expert in order to make a buck is uncalled for. I appreciate the effort but, the truth is this probably happens many times – I would steer clear.
