My daughter’s 2011 Honda Civic LX was brought to JP Thibodeaux Honda Service on 2/6/20 for assessment of the wiper motor, as well as the car pulling to the right while driving.I received the following assessment:#1 – 31HOZ: Service windshield wiper - c/s windshield wipers not working. Caused by:“The wiper motor has failed, need to replace.” Tech: Kenneth Colden (229).#2 07HOZ: Steering System – c/s vehicle still pulling to right. Caused by:“Based on Prescann and the fact that it has been wrecked really bad, I believe its going to need to go to a frame shop to get rid of the pull.” Tech: Kenneth Colden (229).We were quoted the following to fix the wiper motor problem -> $113.50 for the motor, $44.55 for the washer motor, and $200.00 for labor for a total of $389.20. Upon bringing the vehicle home and investigating on my own, I discovered that the wiper motor was operating properly. The washer motor was found to be defective, as evidenced by removing and bench testing the motor. I replaced the washer motor myself for a cost of about $11.00.Upon getting a second professional opinion regarding the vehicle pulling to the right, it was discovered that what the car really needed was the replacement of the 2 front lower a-arms and both CV axles. This was never mentioned by Mr. Colden in his assessment. After this was done, the alignment was able to be done without issue; there was in fact no frame damage.I’m assuming that the customary Multi-Point inspection was also supposed to be done at this time. Evidently it was not completed. The first item on this form is “Bulbs & Lights”. Had this been done, it would have been noted that the rear stop, turn, and reverse lights were inoperable. The circumstances that caused them to be inoperable was in no way the fault of JP Thibodeaux Honda Service. However, this should have been noticed and reported.
I made an appointment at Honda service for 4:00 pm. When I got there, they said they are running late and didnt have time to complete the work I need. They offered to do part of the work and Id need to come back another day to finish. Wasted afternoon!
