Great place! We visited this store back in March and purchased a beautiful chair and a couple more items. They treated us so kind and I will definitely be back when I visit NOLA again! Also if you love headwraps you will definitely enjoy this place.

Wonderful fun loving people operate this store (a mother and her four sons). Our dealings with them were always easy going and featured laughs. If you are a returning customer they remember you. My bride bought a dress there but we returned later to look at our real goal: African masks.They maintain contacts in Senegal and their merchandise is regionally representative. I mention this because Zimbabwe (a large producer of masks) for instance does masks from African regions other than their own. When this happens some cultural authenticity is lost.These are not true ritualistic masks that would be used in traditional ceremonies, but rather commercial reproductions of the above mentioned, so the buyer does not have to worry about cultural denuding of the given region.Prices: If youre new to African masks I can tell you that Motherlands prices seem right on the mark. and the owner was willing to dicker a bit and this was done in a friendly fashion - your results may vary.Even if you dont buy anything stop in and ask about their art, youll have a genuinely pleasant experience.

TeeTee the owner was such a joy, so friendly, professional, sweet and about business. I met a lot of ppl in Nola but the staff at this shop left a true impression on me and my sister. The vibes, products, and overall experience was great. I’d spend my money here anytime, they have the rite idea.
