I brought my bike (Schwinn hybrid) in for a tune up and now it rides like a dream. I’ll probably bring it back every 1,000 miles or whatever the recommendation is. They ask that you get it in before 1 and pick it up before 5. They don’t keep them overnight. I was a few minutes past the drop off time but they were able to accommodate me. Next time I’ll definitely have it there on time. They have a new life long customer.
I went to him on yesterday one quick touch my bike was fixed. Thanks Mike
I bought two bikes from Mike. Both are good quality and were fair price. Customer service was great! They adjusted seats, installed accessories and made sure tires had air. They even do free service within 30 days of purchase.
Even though I’m very new to riding and buying gear, I felt very welcome and comfortable while being helped. Will definitely come back for anything else I need!
I came to get new tires for my bike and they ended up being entirely too small so i gave them a call to explain that my bike wasnt riding well. Not looking to get my money back, because the bike does ride and thats really all i needed, I suggested they do not sell these tires to anyone with the same bike as me because they are not ideal. The man over the phone proceeded to argue with me and be rude as hell for a reason Im not sure. Thankful for my bike and the help just wanted to pass along a courtesy. Awful customer service.
Had issues with my tires. Asked for info/advice and was in line with what I researched. Very helpful and glad they are in the neighborhood. They had in stock what I needed to replace/upgrade my tires. Will always give them my business if I can.
A true Nola miracle. Visiting from Chicago on road trip; with bikes. Half way to Audubon Park from City Park and both my tires expand over the spokes (very old tires). They were completely sold out then happened to find some extra tires in my size. A miracle! Very quick and courteous. THANKS!
More than helpful and very knowledgeable. Thankful theyre open on Mondays!
Wasnt particularly nice or helpful. Go to bicycle michaels instead. Way better shop
Small shop, but they have always had what I needed. Repairs are competent, professional, quick, and well-priced. Looking at the other reviews, yes they can be a little terse, so if you want your ego stroked while your bike is repaired, you might want to go somewhere else.
Overpriced, poor quality, no customer service. Charged me $40 for tubes for my 5 year olds bike installed in April during shutdown... Hes ridden twice at Audubon on the bike trail with me walking next to him. Went to fill it up for first time today and it wouldnt hold air. Mike wouldnt even take a look at it and immediately tried to sell me new tubes. I get it home and take the tube out and the stem is splitting off where it connects to the tube, clearly a quality issue or an install issue. It also turns out the tubes are $8 Sunlites (on Amazon). I would say you get what you pay for but I clearly didnt.
I have taken my bikes to him for years, but it seems he is no longer interested in the repair side of his business. As soon as he realized I wasnt looking to buy I was told to come back the next day during a 1 hour mid day window for repair. I guess I interrupted his busy floor sweeping time.
Too bad these guys arent interested in bicycles they dont know. Called them about assembling a new Dutch bike worth over $1,800, but after hearing it has an enclosed chain guard they just hung up the phone.Things are probably going so well that they can afford this attitude.
Fast, no-nonsense, flat repair service and at a decent price. My bike’s previous owner had stripped the rear bolts and they replaced them free of charge. They also walked my bike out for me to make sure everything was good.
No rentals available, although the website still displays all the info and there’s no message/warning.When we got there, an employee opened the door and literally laughed at us when we asked about rentals, and was about to shut the door in our face when the owner appeared... he at least took a minute or two to explain the situation.
Very quick when I took my bike to get a flat fixed. Will definitely return.
Got a great service from these guys! Quick at fixing any issues and they are actually good at everything they do...
Repairs while you wait! Very quick and efficient repairs at a great price.
The guy in charge is friendly and nice, but the other guy that works there is not nice at all. I asked him to do a tune up on my bike and he goes “it’s a low maintenance bike, it doesn’t need that”. I have gotten my low maintenance bike tuned up there before and other bike shops so I don’t know what the difference was between then and now. Shame, shame, shame.
Great price! Friendly service! Great advice! No better way to experience New Orleans- from mikes to French quarter to TULANE to the zoo!
I have been going here for almost 4 years. Mike the Bike Guy staff is knowledgeable, helpful, know what they are talking about and fairly priced especially compared to other shops in New Orleans. Gorgeous bike selection and well priced accessories. I highly recommend this place for getting your bike tuned up too. You will get the bike back on the same day and it will be like new for a great price. They also rent bikes! They rock!
Half way through a 50mi. ride I needed some repairs I couldn’t take care of myself. Mike got me back on the road in about 15 mins. as good as new. Didn’t break the bank either. I would definitely recommend his shop to folks in the NOLA area. Thanks Mike.
The guys at Mike the Bike Guy were extremely helpful in picking out my bike. When I first went there they didnt have the right size for the bike I was looking for so I left them my number to contact me when they got the right size. They called me back a few days later and with the bike purchase I get a free tune up in the first few months and they offered to teach me how to change a flat tire when it happens. All in all, a very professional experience- these guys know what theyre talking about and there not trying to squeeze every last dime out of you. Highly recommend this place.
Great service! Answered all my questions. The selection seemed a bit limited, but the bike I settled on works perfectly for my needs. I would definitely recommend a friend.
Actually, he repaired my damaged gears and that immediately and quite cheap. But in a way not experienced quite often. Incredible unfriendly, super hectic and nervous with just unnecessary stupid comments about that worse bicycle design he ever saw. Probably that’s the reason why it broke already after 8000 miles without nothing before. But maybe it was just I disturbed him in his cigarette break and couldn’t wait for the next and that took 5 minutes more than usual.
Fixed original bike wheel without trying to sell us new tire and rim. Very reasonable. We were in and out In 15 minutes. Definitely will use again.
Brought in my (flat) front tire to have the tube replaced. One customer was being helped already but the other guy in the shop immediately stopped what he was working on and assisted me. He replaced the tube & inner cloth out on the spot in just about 5 minutes. It literally took me more time to find parking than to get the repair done. Awesome service I will definitely be back for any of my future bicycle needs.
I found a bike off craigslist that needed some work, so I brought it to Mike the Bike Guy. Within 10 minutes, he replaced the front tube, filled both tires, lubed my chain, and made sure all the connections were good. His prices are very reasonable, and the service is fast and friendly. I will definitely return for all my bike needs.
Mike assembled a high end frame and component groupe for half the money and even less time than anyone else in town. Fast foward...a few days ago he performs a repair on the spot for a paltry sum...I dont live anywhere near his shop but its worth passing other shops and the travel time to do business with him!
Really fast work, I was in and out in under 25 mins. Good prices as well. Highly recommend
A pleasure doing with Mike and his team! I messed up my gears, causing my chain to come off. They had me rolling again, on beautiful Fall day, in mere minutes. Great place to do business.
Mike is a great guy! My handle bar was falling off and he had me back on the road in no time! 10/10 would recommend!
Had a flat and they fixed it FAST! Great service and very fair price too.
I was there today and they fixed my flat in a short time. That got me you back on the road . Very satisfied. They are open Monday to Saturday. No luck on Sunday. .
Such a great place! Fast, friendly and good service. Thanks guys!
Great place! Always quick repairs and very helpful Everytime I arrive.
Great service! He put my bike back together and filled my tires within 2 minutes. So nice!!
Excellent service! Easy to find this shop, very friendly owner, eager to answer questions!
I hesitate to write review this cause I don’t want y’all to busy up my favorite spot. Go see Mike he’ll do you right.
I dont know what I would have done without Mike the Bike Guy! I had gotten a flat and was trapped Uptown when I found them. They fixed me up, gave me a spare along with some helpful advice, and got me back on the streets in 10 minutes. HIGHLY recommend!!
The bike Guys know there stuff. I went in with a cannondale quick I didnt ride anymore and came out with a tweaked bike I now love to ride.Thank you.
Great great knowledge of bikes and he will always get my business and good prices
Quick and friendly service. Ill definitely be going back to this shop.
Ok so i get it that people think Mike is mean or not friendly enough, but him and his staff are good at what they do. I have been there 6-7 times now and they are always prompt and do good work.I am completely bike illiterate, and it is obvious. They could have ripped me off, and instead they have now made two minor fixes on my bike for free. I walked in, they popped everything back in place, and i was out ten minutes later, no charge. I am a loyal customor because of that and will remain that way. Hes really need not as bad as all these other reviews say.
I brought him my brothers bike, beacause i broke a spoke on the wheel. when i met him i said hey! its MIKE the BIKE man he looked at me like i farted loudly and asked why was here. at the end of the day he really has a mean bike fixing attitude, thats why i think he gets 5 stars :)
Unbelievably rude
Yea, they fixed my bike but he was about as friendly as metermaid during the summer. Before he started, he said it would be $25. It took him about 3 minutes to fix and then when he rang me up he said it was $41. As I handed him my card I said, Wait, you said it would be $25. He then came up with some BS extra charges, such as Well, you are only buying 1 tire so theres a surcharge for that and then there is labor. I looked at him after I gave him my card and said, You didnt mention ANYTHING about that when you said it would be $25! He just looked down, smiled, and snickered. Come on man, HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS!! How do you expect to get repeat business in a city like this if you treat people like that? Word gets around. If you are going to charge me $41 to fix a tire, then tell me. Dont bait and switch like a swindler. $16 extra may not have been the biggest thing in the world to me, but to some people that is a couple meals if they dont have much money. Im not saying they didnt fix it properly but his business tacts are utterly dispicable. IF you ever decide to go there then make sure you dont get screwed over by this guy because he certainly did it to me.
I cannot say enough good things about this place!
Late and unhelpful. Thanks for nothing.
Bad attitude. Before I visited this shop, I tried to give them a call for a price quote. There business phone was disconnected. I guess that should have tipped me off for what I was in store for.I went to see Mike the bike guy I arrived at his shop at 5:00pm. His mechanic and this one lady at his shop greeted me with a warm friendly demeanor. The same could not be said of Mike the owner. He gave me a menacing glare and in a really hateful tone he told me,I am only fixing flat tires right now. Despite this the lady behind the counter took a look at my bike. I knew what the problems were, the back rim needed to be replaced and the brakes needed to be fixed.I told her this she agreed with me and said that they could work on it tomorrow. Also she said it would only be about $95.Mike walked over there and gave me a different story. He proceeded to tell me that it would cost about $200(before tax and labor fees) to fix what was wrong with it. I asked him if I could leave my bike in his shop overnight and come back tomorrow when he fixed it. He instantly got defensive and told meNO!!!!. After that tirade he said was not willing to work on it because the brakes were shot. Then he scoffed at me and told me that I should throw my bike in the garbage and by a new one at Wal-Mart(easy for him to say, he didnt pay $500 for this bike).Needless to say I left from there in total disgust. When I was on the corner of Soniat and Magazine I found another bike shop. I went in there I was greeted with a friendly attitude. The same problems that Mike wanted to charge me $200 dollars for they only charged me $55 dollars for. And yes they kept my bike overnight in their shop. When I came in the next day it was fixed.Despite all these positive reviews for this business. I cant say that I feel the same way as the rest of these folks. One person on here said that,he is very focused and not real chatty at least they got that part right! But his mind was not in the zone that day.I just wonder how this man has even stayed in business as long as he has.
I had a flat about half a mile away. I walked right in and they fixed me up in 10 minutes. The guys were really chill. They even fixed up a number of other things wrong with my bike for free. Cant recommend this bike shop enough.
Best bike shop
Felt rushed & uncomfortable even though I bought an overpriced bike.
My bike got fixed in a few minutes here.
Best service
The shop has not so many accessories but the service is good.
Excellent service.
Mike has all the answers.
