Stopped in for breakfast / coffee. The building was amazing to walk into and had a great energy. The coffee was a bit slow to receive, however the flavor made up for it along with the Mexican skillet meal I ate. Definitely happy I stopped in, and if back in New Ulm would make a priority to visit again.
We stopped in for some lunch and coffees. This was our first time here. Its bigger inside than I expected. We were there late in the lunch hour and were able to sit at a table. I ordered the pot pie and it was delicious! 😋 The puff pastry was a little under done and is the reason for only a 4 star rating.
Love this place. Always patronize when in New Ulm. Coffee was good, shared treat with Dave, very good muffin. Brought a treat home to share tomorrow. Clean, very helpful. They do breakfast and noon lunches also. Unique building, decor, and seating opportunities. Lots of students with computers. Ladies groups, and families hang out there.
Im a truck driver and got sent to deliver cream to the AMPI plant in New Ulm and while waiting to be called to enter the bay, I decided to explore the great small town and eventually decided to dine in at the Lola bistro (a block away from the plant) and I had a fantastic experience here both with the food and great customer service. About an hour into my meal, I was called to pull into the bay for unloading so I had to leave very quickly to pull my truck in and I was gone for at least 10 minutes and didnt tell the staff I had to leave in an hurry so I thought for sure they wouldve seen me gone, assume Id finished eating and picked up the mess I left behind. I returned and my stuff was still there (thankfully) and I explained my situation to the cashier who totally understood and was kind enough to let me finish my meal as well as get a to-go box for my leftovers. I decided to order again (to-go this time) because the food was absolutely delicious and fresh. Its a shame I couldnt finish it un-interrupted (interrupted by the plant calling me) the first time but Im glad I got some food for my journey back. I would definitely recommend this bistro to any truck driver or traveler who is looking for a local place to eat because here the food is delicious (and my meals were prepared in less than 15 minutes) and the staff are extremely kind, as well as the locals. 5 stars all the way for the Lola bistro 🙌
First time at Lolas was fabulous! Housemade Herb Vinaigrette dressing was excellent, yum! Then the seared Yellowfin Tuna sandwich was phenomenal! Atmosphere was fantastic too! Of course we could not pass up dessert. Everything was delicious! Well be back!
My lunch mate & I had different sandwiches & traded half. Both were delicious. I love the inventiveness of the different kinds of sandwiches here. I cant wait to go back & try some other meals.
Beautiful establishment, great friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Highly recommend coming here.
Definitely will eat here again, a one cook show, but so worth the wait for the fresh farm to table food!
Lolas- a favorite of mine! Service is always helpful and friendly Kitschy industrial atmosphere, fun music, tasty (sometimes heavenly) food and comfortable seating niche’s. A great place to take a lunch or dinner break from the boutique scene downtown. Might I suggest a zebra latte, slice of quiche, fresh salad, bisquits and gravy or chicken pot pie. Like anything in life, there are a couple points to consider before you go 1) Lola’s is not fast service so it is not a low budget dining option 2) it can get rather busy so be sure to plan ample time for your visit 3) Don’t forget to start a Lola’s punch card!
My family brought me to this adorable restaurant and I was quite taken by its’ décor and casual vibe. Living a plant-based lifestyle, I was looking forward to the Roasted Veggie Dagwood sandwich. The roll was toasted perfectly and the veggies were tasty, but this sub is undeserving of the title Dagwood. The sandwich was on a small roll and the vegetation was just visible. A true Dagwood is piled high with fixings. Other than that, is was a delicious sandwich - just dont expect to get full.
A small town feeling eatery. A decent amount of choices. Mushroom salad was very good. The dirty chia was something new to me and I enjoyed it ( spiced chia tea with espresso). The place was very clean and laid out nicely. Friendly staff.
What is there not to love? The food is amazing, the drinks are amazing, the people are usually amazing, the servers are awesome, and the atmosphere is oh so cozy!If you like great coffee or tea and love trying odd but delicious food or reading a book or need someplace outside of your dorm or home to get work done, this is the place!
Excellent food. Pleasant staff. Highly recommended.
Fantastic spot! Feels part art gallery with local art on walls for sale. Stained glass warms the windows. Fancy coffee compliment a large selection on menu. Pork Banh Mi flavorful and juicy. Daily specials. Todays buffalo cauliflower tacos so tasty. Definitely a must try!
Love the ambiance and the food was great. Quite the variety so stoo by. You wont be disappointed, ni matter what your preference.
Wonderful food - local and homemade.Beautiful building, too.
Fantastic food, good service, lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Stopped by for lunch with no idea what to expect. Was sad I couldnt get one of everything from the menu as it all sounded delicious. Tried the seared tuna melt with Hungarian mushroom soup and was not disappointed.
This is a very nice little coffee shop / cafe.Everything I have tried here is delicious (definitely try the chicken torta with rosemary fries). Their house lemonades are awesome.I dont drink coffee but they have a massive selection of great looking drinks. The decor is very nice and cozy. There is seating for a lot of people.
Pork Bahn mi sandwich, best sandwich Ive ever had anywhere hands down!!!!!!!
We both had pork banh mi sandwiches, and they were good. Could have been more spicy/flavorful, but its New Ulm!
Food was great, but.... The order was messed up when it came to the table.
Cute place, nice staff, good food
Always great food and great coffee. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
Had the pot pie and was very happy! Delicious!!
Very slow, food ok. Allow plenty of time
The sage sausage breakfast biscuit was out of this world, so full of flavor. And the husband couldnt stop raving about the biscuits and gravy. A must stop when you are in New Ulm!
Good food, temp in eating area cool, really good thing I had warm attire.
Three in our party, ordered at the same time, our food orders arrived 20 and 30 minutes apart. We had to inquire about 2 of the 3 orders. A ladies lunch, we each ate separately. Ridiculous staging of the food cooking. Same table with the same order #. Perkins or Happy Joe’s the next time we are in town.
My mom and I tried out Lolas (its a New Ulm essential) and an employee recommended the porridge to us. We were skeptical, but it was DELICIOUS! My mom was so nostalgic because it reminded her of something her grandma used to make, so we went back the next morning for another brunch. Their fruit was so fresh and the coffee was delicious too! And I loved the ambiance of the place, its such an adorable coffee shop and I loved the art on the walls. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a sweet brunch place!
Beautiful place!! Delicious coffee.
Great coffee and super nice staff
Very good food.
2 years ago I would have given this place 1 or 2 stars, but the service here has seriously improved! The younger brunette girl that is usually working the register/bar is fantastic! (I really need to get her name). Food is great and the americanos are strong! My daughter also loves the toys that they have set out. I try to make this our mommy/daughter date place every Friday.
Super tasty and interesting menu options.
Great place for lunch ! First time I tried their pork sandwich which was delicious. Also tried the chicken pot pie but way too salty. Garlic fries outstanding but again way too much salt !!
I would AVOID going to this place at all costs, not only because the food is bland and overpriced, but because most of the staff I came across are inconsiderate. They barely look you in the eye and take things off your table without your consent. The owner of this establishment is unfortunately not any better. Ive never criticized an owner before, but this simply went too far. I would advise them to take some business ethic classes and remind them that customer satisfaction is of highest priority and being transparent goes along way!I will never set foot in this place ever again, I advise you take your money elsewhere on the other nice restaurants New Ulm has to offer- not only will you be supporting small businesses that serve better food, but supporting ones that are more customer centered.
Had a fantastic experience here. I got a salad and it was one of the best salads Ive had this year.Go check them out
Lolas catered our wedding in December 2018. Working with Lacey was so easy and we got everything we wanted for food. We were more casual and had a burger buffet and all of our guests complimented the appetizers and dinner selections and the quality of the food. Their service was second to none and we couldnt have been happier to have chosen Lolas!
My wife and I just had a great dinner here for Valentines day. The staff was busy but still managed to make sure we had a great evening. The food was perfect! The hot mess appetizer was delicious. We had scallops that were cooked to perfection and were complimented with mushrooms and cauliflower puree that was just perfect. I could say more but its not necessary, this place is worth stopping into.
Loved the local cider beer. Beautiful atmosphere
Easily the best spot for coffee in New Ulm. The food is great, the coffee is very high quality, and the wait staff is always pleasant.
We were there for lunch on an afternoon in May when it was 80+ degrees outside and the air conditioning was not on. Nice place inside, good service. What really makes this place shine is the food. Everyone at our table loved what they got. They were even pretty good with gluten free options. I would like to go back for dinner sometime.
Such a friendly owner and overall neat place to stop and enjoy yourself.
It hurts me to give this place two stars. But Its for a good reason. About a month ago My husband and I came here. We ordered food and they got my food wrong, they charged me for the wrong food which was more then the food I ordered. There was also a person cleaning tables and touching dirty dishes then touching others food. And today the reason I am writing this review is because we came in again and we ordered food. The people who ordered after us got their food first and my food came out cold. We brought it up but they just heated it up and did nothing about it.Again I normally love this place....
The BEST coffee I have ever had, I get a Sticky Turtle and it is delicious made with real espresso, not some espresso mix like the big chains use to make lattes. The muffins are to die for and the food is even better. The service is great, friendly and fast. If you are here to visit definitely stop and get a coffee or something to eat. I recommend this cute little bistro to everyone I know local or from out of town.
Great coffee shop and great food!
Trendy selection of good food, espresso bar, beatific atmosphere.
I try to visit Lola every time I am in New Ulm. The food, drinks, and service are always phenomenal!
Great food, great atmosphere and great service!
The bang bang tacos are 🔥 and the Garlic rosemary fries are awesome Lolas you guys never disappoint
Best coffee house in town, with great food. There are always daily specials and daily soups. The staff is friendly, and the environment is cozy and relaxed. It is an excellent place to bring a book, laptop, or do homework. I miss living a block away. They are a little pricy, but it is well worth it.
Fantastic food and drinks if youre looking for a coffee shop. The building creates a great atmosphere while you enjoy your drinks and/or food. The wait isnt terribly long, even when busy. Prices are very reasonable as well. The location is perfect.
Good food, good people, good place. It was easy to get service quickly, and food was served promptly. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area.
A nice place to eat healthy and delicious. Friendly staff and cozy seats. I recommend this place.
They have great food and a variety of gluten free options. The chefs always work with me to make sure my dining experience is stellar despite all my food restrictions. Prices are a tad higher than Id like but portion sizes are good and the food is tasty and fresh.
Stopped for a quick lunch and was not disappointed! Quick to-go service and my nachos were out of this world.
Cute, cozy coffee bistro. Very nice workers, Jessey makes the best smoothies!!!
Excellent every time!
Miss the old menu since there are no pastas anymore. Every time I order chicken in the pot pie it’s undercooked. Otherwise, good food!
We were camping in the area and wanted to go out to dinner somewhere nice. We went in to New Ulm (which was pretty sad and deserted) and stumbled upon this inviting looking restaurant. The decor is unique and cozy; it has kind of a coffee house/cafe vibe to it. We got there before they had table service, so we ordered at the counter and then they brought the food out.The staff was very attentive and fun. The food was absolutely amazing. Everyone in my family (including my rather picky 10 year old son) loved their food. They also had a decent selection of local beers and craft sodas. We were all too full to try any of the amazing looking bakery items in the case, but I would have loved to come back for dessert later. The only downside is that they dont have air conditioning. It was a very hot and sticky day when we were there and this didnt provide much relief from the heat.
One of the best meals Ive had in a long time. Amazing atmosphere. Perfect for Sunday breakfast.7/19/20 went there again and had the best fries ever
Great coffee. Great atmosphere. Wish it had been open when I was in college.
Everything you eat is made fresh from real ingredients which is so rare these days. The hours are weird, but I think they are trying to stay open as much as is reasonable for a viable business in a small town with a fair amount of competition for the same customer base.
This is a cute cafe which is perfect for a date or for a friendly gathering!! This is also an ideal spot to study, you can get coffee and a meal and the atmosphere is friendly which is perfect to get homework done. The Bistro is full of tasteful art and is very artsy - perfect for pictures!
Lola is a hidden gem. Everything Ive gotten from them has been delicious and the atmosphere is very trendy. Worth every penny.Update 8/3/18: probably best to avoid this place at lunch. I normally come here for dinner and its really good but lunch takes a very long time and my order got really badly messed up and they were accommodating but made it seem like it was my fault... Which is frustrating. I wont stop coming but that left a bad taste in my mouth figuratively and literally.
Quaint bistro in New Ulm. New to the area and happened to be in New Ulm for a meeting and was looking for a spot for coffee. The moment you walk in, I was surprised how large the bistro was and it was decorated immaculately. The service at the counter was great and the coffee did not disappoint. I also enjoyed the egg, bacon, biscuit which was cooked to perfection. If you are looking for a bistro that has a great ambiance this is the place for you.
Peach scone with pieces of peach and dollops of cream cheese you can see baked into the scone= yum!! Smooth Americano, didnt even need cream! Multiple tables and corners and setups to get work done or gather with friends.
Great atmosphere, great drinks, great food. My wife and I love coming here and it even has couches if we need to take the kid.
So great! Many choices of healthy foods with yummy flavors. Atmosphere is chill and artsy 🎸🧶🎨
I live the food at this place. Every tastes fresh and absolutely delicious. Its a beautiful space and a nice staff as well.
Food is all made to order with fresh ingredients - very flavorful and food! Restaurant has a great atmosphere for chatting or working.
It was my first time there and we were celebrating a special event for us. I had asked my friends from the area where they wanted to go and this was the immediate answer. Im kinda picky about my food, but everything we got was divine! I ended up giving the waitress almost 30% tip. Will absolutely return.
I will start with the good, ordered the Lola coffee which was delicious. The southwest salad was okay apart from the brown guacamole. But the deal breaker was the manager/pastry chef that was eating what looked to be the cookie dough. That is against every public health code I am aware of. I did make this issue known to the woman who was chomping on the dough/food she was preparing. Told her I wouldnt be back after seeing that.
Our family was visiting New Ulm from Florida. We were looking at wedding dresses for our daughter who was getting married in the area. It was a Saturday afternoon and we were looking for a family restaurant to feed our crew. Most of the downtown restaurants were closed. We looked in the window and it looked very inviting. The decor was old style but modern fixtures. We like the quiet atmosphere. And the food was exceptional.
My favorite spot in New Ulm! Great sandos and drinks!
Cute place with friendly people. Nice stop for sit down coffee, and a meal if you are interested.
My friends had large chocolate chip cookies. I had a raspberry lemonade which was very refreshing even though it was a winter day. It was 37 degrees out so it tasted great. Ee love the Ambiance and plan to return the aroma of the pasta meals people were having smelled great.
Coffee is good. Muffins are great. Atmosphere is not bad, but it is a little dark. Nice for a morning coffee with friends.
Always love stopping by here. Even planned it as a spot when family visits.Edit: Seems the new menu has removed the delicious appetizer The Hot Mess. Which is a real shame because I loved that offering.Covid-19 Update: as with the current situation, please be careful where you frequent. When picking my online order, only one person had any face covering and no one could be visibly seen with gloves. Please be safe out there.
Chicken pot pies are amazing!
Good taco place. Their loaded fries are awesome too!
Lola makes the most amazing rosemary fries! One of the cooks there named Deborah was such FUN, and friendly! Love this place!
Love, love, love the pork Banh Mi tacos I had at RiverSong Music Festival in Hutchinson this past weekend. Ordered them twice! So glad you were there again this year, and hope you come back again next year. Delicious, fresh, and different.
Nice Staff, good food, and beautiful atmosphere. Cant wait to go back!
I love this place but let me tell you Ive given this place 3 chances to be different and it has disappointed me every time. Let me say the staff are incredible and the food has the potential to be phenominal. My biggest complaint is that each time Ive been here I have found hair in my food! To me it is the oldest rule in the book for cooks to wear hair nets so why arent they? Please fix soon. P.s. it was not a short piece of hair it was a long strand that I choked on and had stuck between my teeth!!
