As a Bostonian, good fabric stores tend to be either full of quilting cotton or of the big-box variety. I relish my trips to the NY garment district and always make a stop in here on my travels. They have a great selection of fabrics and at a great price. Last trip I brought them a swatch from over a year ago and they kindly looked hard for it with no avail. They did find its sibling in a different color way, but alas, it was gone. Great staff, great selection, and open on weekends.

This place has a special place in my heart. Many years ago, I was attending a conference near Time Square. I took a break and walked around the city--wondering right into the garment district. There are many, many fabric stores on this same block. What drew me to AK was that they had these cute cotton fabrics right in front. I didnt have much money at the time but I came back the next day with some saved birthday money to buy one of the cotton novelty fabrics.Ive been here several times since then. The staff is friendly and nice. Selection is wonderful. Highly recommend.

I came down here cause I saw tons of fabric stores in this area. I was looking for specific fabrics for a need-it-now situation. I locked my bike to a pole and I walked in almost every store on this block. These guys had more then I was looking for and they were the CHEAPEST. The 2 guys working were real cool and knew they’re stuff. There is very little space to walk around and browse, but that’s cool whatever. It sure would be fun to run around this store as a little kid and get lost.

This is a nifty store with everything from notebooks to kitchen towels to hardware and quirky household goods! Things seemed reasonably priced, and theres A LOT to go through. The store is clean and had a nice ambiance. Would definitely come back again!

AK and I have been very good friends since my Parsons schooling days.. One of the few fabric stores left, given the erratic change to the garment district, that still has a wide variety of fabrics available and at REASONABLE prices. They stock a lot of 2nds from local businesss and have continuous stock of denims, cotton plain weave / twills, and silks. Its the one stop that I usually send most of tailoring students (Parsons Tailoring Techniques) to purchase good wools, wool blends and lining. The AK team are extremely helpful and thoroughly versed with their fabrics!!A must for a visit to the Big Apple if youre looking for fabrics!! But be warned, you might lose yourself with the selection!!! 😉😉😉

It is a gem for plain fabrics like cotton, wool, silk. Nothing really sophisticated but i always find there smth nice at a very good price too

This place is the perfect combination of low key tons if fabric and knowledgeable. They were able to match the fabric I brought in, name it and get it at a good price. I was ready to haggle but the price was fair so I took it.

The knowledge and selection at this fabric store can not be compared, they are the best. They know their stock and are extremely helpful. If they dont carry something you are looking for, they direct you where to go.
