Had a really bad experience today. I was looking for a place to donate my baby gears, its such a waste to toss them into recycle bins, and while this is not a charity its about the once place that takes in baby gears in the bay area. so I drove 30 min one way there, only to be told that my stroller is of a bad model, my tryke is not clean enough (theres a spot on the inside of the sun shield, thats fine, I took them back to my car, and waited for them to evaluate the clothes I brought along. All the clothes were washed from last use and held in a bag in garage, but per the direction of their website I packed the clothes into a box nicely. And you know what, they told me none is acceptable - they are too dirty/old/foreign. I couldnt believe what I heard, so they said the Uniqlo pieces that i bought in SF is not of US size, the Carter jacket is not acceptable as its supposed to be in 3 pieces (the hat is missing) and when I asked, whats wrong with a body pajama thats barely worn, they ran out of reasons and kept fumbling around, and whola, heres one 2mm long thread at the bottom of this one! Whats more, the manager Nolan even picked up one linen one piece, which is of course wrinkled, with his figure tips, as if its a dirty diaper, and asked me, would you buy it? would you buy it? While it may seemed to him that I was the one taking money from him (as I am the seller), this store only exists because of the sellers! based on what I get from the three pieces that they managed to take in, versus the price I see from the store, they make a hefty profit on these sellers! What a rude and condescending for no good reason store!

I love this store. The people that work there are really nice and I’ve been able to find awesome stuff. I recently found a brand new scooter for 15 dollars and several basically new pairs of shoes. This store is awesome as kids go through things so fast. It feels great to be able to reuse things!

I love once upon a child everyone is very nice and friendly. I buy a lot from this location love it. The ladies are soooo nice and guy is very helpful and sweet. Will always shop here.. I also sell my used items.. Wish i could give more then 5 stars..

Im writing this in response to some of the negative reviews this business has received. Ive been to Once Upon a Child numerous times, sometimes to sell toys/clothes my kid has grown out if, sometimes just to look around for something new. Not ONCE have I encountered a rude or disrespectful employee; the owners of the franchise and everyone working for them have always been friendly, upfront about how much I can expect to make from selling to them (its used stuff, people, stop whining about how little you get! They have to make a profit too) and have diligently answered all of my questions. I have however, multiple times, overheard entitled customers being rude to the staff. Bringing in things they cant buy, like car seats - its the law! - or dirty, ruined clothes, then complaining that they drove all the way there and so on and so forth. And people complaining that some of their stuff wasnt purchased by the store, then turning around and saying their merchandise isnt quality. As if. We are lucky to have a little store like this that sells quality used toys, clothes, strollers, shoes, costumes and everything we need for our little ones, at steeply discounted prices. The fact that they have to put up with rude, whiny customers who have no clue how capitalism works is terrible, but they do it with a smile and sure as hell dont give these people a piece of their minds like Im sure theyd like to! Great place, I will always be a customer.

Love going on this store the only comment I can say is you cant please everyone I encounter one of the customers complain although everything is clear already buy 10 for 10 still some dont get it and even how the discount works poor cashiers theyve been blame that they need to explain more. I Will for sure recommend this place 🙂

Worst customer service they are extremely rude, I walked in maybe 2 minutes later than my appointment time and they refuse to take me with an extremely huge attitude the whole time there was a bunch of moms people walking in with a bunch of stuff and these people just wouldnt even offer a card or open the door and nothing I dont know the worst customer service ever

I wish Id started coming here sooner! My babys almost a year old, so I needed to get him some new staples for his wardrobe, as hes outgrowing so much of his clothes now. Some of the items I bought still had the original price tag attached, and we bought them for over 60% below the original tag! We will definitely come here again the next time we need to update babys clothes!

Excellent store for secondhand children’s clothing, toys, and more! On top of the low prices, they also have a loyalty program with a additional discounts and frequently hold sales of 50-60%! I have saved so much and found excellent quality clothes. The staff are also very nice!

We love this shop! The staff members are very friendly and super helpful. We have had nothing but positive shopping experiences. We have sold and purchased items and have been treated very well every single time. All items are in excellent used condition and pricing is very reasonable. I definitely recommend checking this place out.

Great selection of baby clothing. They had a lot of baby swings and such too. The clothes were organized by size, but seemed to be somewhat mixed up. They made good use the vertical space for showing clothes which means you will be very low to the ground to search through it all.

I just sold here for the very first time i was treated very nice the employees are very respectful from the minute i walked in they were very friendly i definitely will be coming back ☺

The store is fabulous with great things at s good price!! But I came in to sell just a few items and I had to wait about an hour or more and after to tell me they only were getting 2 items not even paying more than $3 wow I missed my appointment, waited for that. Anyway I used the credit to buy one newborn pj and left....the employees were ok and i called prior to coming to make sure they buy those things and they didnt get it all. Oh well

Drove 40 mins to shop cause I loved this store . Was very disappointed to find a bunch of raggedy shoes and wash wear clothes 😞 . I understand it’s a consignment store but they need to do better picking the clothing they buy from people . They need to just donate all that stuff in the store to the needy people don’t want to spend their hard earned money buying that trash 🗑

I would rather give zero stars. I went to Once Upon A Child to sell some new toys and almost new and new clothes for a boy toddler. The staff (an elderly man) was beyond rude. I simply asked if I can go through the items with them and how long do I wait. The owner and her staff proceeded to force feed their stellar reputation on me and the guy referred to me as the only second “paranoid” person who wondered about leaving their items with them during the unclear statement about “45 minutes” to either go through or wait. I responded, “should I wait here 45 minutes until you call me or does it take 45 minutes to process?” I was not sure if I will wait or leave after they only asked me why I was still there by the counter waiting. I am floored about how rude the person who runs this store is along with that staff member. It’s sad that they are not thankful for the opportunity to exchange services with patrons, but rather take a judging condescending attitude, bordering on abusive. I hope people reconsider selling their items at stores who have a non-grandiose but rather pleasant attitude.

I love this store. My daughter and I, the grandma, drive from Livermore. In fact I was there today and got my niece a walker. The owners and employees are always nice....everyone that has a baby should check this store out.....

Love this place. Its always clean. The clothes are all organized by size. Everything is labeled and organized to their best ability. (Occasionally something is out of place/size order wise, but Im sure thats just from customers putting things back in the wrong spot). You dont get a lot back from what you bring to sell, but they sell at such a low price to us as customers... keep in mind theyve got to make a profit on these items. So if youre looking to make more money- Id suggest selling the better items on a FB buy/sell/trade. Or giving this company first pick of your items and then selling a bulk deal on buy/sell/trade groups. Theyre super busy for buy backs on the weekends, so keep that in mind and try to get there early. Ive always been able to drop off and come back before closing. Theyve always been super friendly to me, the owner has even discussed why sometimes he didnt take more; i.e. Jean pants with out back pockets dont sell at their store. Weird, but they know what sells for them, and they buy those items back.

Theyre almost always busy but staff are courteous and patient. Weve also gotten some great deals and we now routinely but clothes here.

To start with lady behind the counter was not very obliging. Plus I had specifically enquired if they wld take care seats only to be turned down at the store saying its against law. I also wanted to check over the phone for the items which they have stacked already so that I dont have to bring them. But they refused to do it over phone, only to turn down a couple of items at the store saying they already have a bunch. The service needs to be made more convenient for the customers and we sld also be given the correct info beforehand.

IVE BEEN GOING TO THIS PLACE FOR ALMOST 6 YEARS NOW. I LOVE IT AND MY SON LOVES IT. THE EMPLOYEES ARE NICE. THE ONLY THING I I IRRITATED ABOUT IS I SELL MY SONS CLOTHES AND TOYS AND THEY SAY MISSING A PART IN TOYS OR IF THE TAG IS GONE FROM A SHIRT THEY WONT EXCEPT IT. BUT WHEN I SHOP AND I REALIZE WHEN I GET HOME THAT THE SHIRT HAS NO TAG OR OR MISSING A PART IN A TOY I JUST NAUGHT MY SON. BUT OTHER THEN THAT LOVE IT GREAT PRICES. 😁😁

All I have to say is the older guy that works there is super rude every time I go there he seems in a bad mood! Bad service!! Not going back to buy or sell anything again! They buy things for super cheap prices and sell them for $10-$20 more! The clothes I bring is clean, in good condition and expensive brands! And still wont take them, they are super picky! Dont recommend it, dont waste ur time! (Youre welcome)

Just reading negative reviews on how staff treat their customers is enough for me to avoid this place at all costs! Especially the comments about the “old man”. You can already tell you’ll have a bad experience in this place just by how defensive the “old man” is if you look at RosalbaZz review and seeing his response in admitting he put his hands on a child without permission. Bad ethics and bad business practices.12/11 Update!! The owner responded to my review calling me pathetic which is childish. Now I’ve been given a REAL reason to write a bad review. I will have to say I brought a lot of good baby clothes! & they only took 3 items? Really! Also the man who helped me was very rude!! The only thing I liked was that the had a lot of cute things. Other then that customer service was horrible! Drove 30 minutes to waste my time!

I used to buy regularly in this store since 4 years ago, the female staff is very polite and helpful, but unfortunately today I had a awful experience I was checking shoes for my kids, and next to me my 2 years old was touching the bicycles, when i turn i sow my toddler crying in the floor so I pick him up, I was not sure what happened so i decided to leave and I ask my 8 years old if she sow something and she told me that this guy came and took the bicycle very hard from my toddlers hands, so he felt and he pretend in front of me he was just fixing the toys, so Ill advise my friends dont buy anymore in this store, the behavior of this man es inaceptable, he should to approach me and dont act like jack ass..😡

I drove over an hour to sell items and was turned away as the worker didnt feel like processing my items. I was not given an apology until I stated I drive over an hour to get there & hired babysitter to bring items in. On website it states no appointment necessary they buy during all open hours. I asked that they update it and was given rude response. I do not recommend going out of your way to sell here.

Great place to buy and sell gently used or new baby/children clothing and shoes. Although some of the shoe bins are mixed with sizes and some shoes are junky, i have found some really cute shoes at a good price for my daughter.You can also sell them items. They dont give you much for your items because they sell them at low prices so it doesnt matter if it is new with tags, you might still get $1. It is a quick way to get rid of your good quality items though.Staff here are always friendly and welcoming. They even let you know about additional discounts you can earn. Great sales too.

Worst customer service i have ever received. First time going here. The old man the helped me at first was so self centered and full of himself like if he knew everything. Then the broad that helped me was rolling her eyes at me like if she had something more important to do than to help a paying customer. They rejected two brand new items. BRAND NEW. Talking about the walker was missing bumpers .Then when Im ready to check out I asked where can i be helped. The broad didnt even look at me she just said register one someone will help you. Mind yall all three employees were right alongside each other just gossiping away. Older man and two braods .Then one of the broads said Not it like if it was a game of tag. Like broad thats your job you dont have the option to say not it when it comes to ringing up a customer!!! The old man looked so annoyed that he had to ring me up. I hope none of these people working today are the owners because if they are they have poor manners and horrible customer service!!

This place is actually pretty cool. Its like a thrift store, for babies, & you can sell them your things instead of just giving them away.

Just a tip they should over estimate the time, not under estimate the time. They said an hour and it was over 2. They said first come first serve but I saw someone that came in with stuff after me get their stuff and money before me. The clothes I saw in store were not that great condition and they turned away several clean in style items. I will never go back.
