Im torn with this cute little place. I have had several different desserts from here and they look gorgeous. The cakes, cupcakes, and anything with icing is so well designed. They look like works of art but the taste is just not there. The cake I am reviewing in the pics was beautiful but lacked any flavor. It was suppose to be red velvet but lacked the velvet. In addition, much like several of the cupcakes, it was dry. Freshness of the desserts might be the issue and if you ate them as soon as they were made could solve the dry issue.

Our wedding cake was so incredibly beautiful!! It was perfect, exactly what we wanted, and tasted sooo good! Absolutely one of the most beautiful and unique cakes Ive seen!

The MOST DELICIOUS DESSERTS I have ever had! If you are anywhere near Newark/Pike Creek dont leave until you have had at least one of Danas spectacular desserts! Today I had a double chocolate brownie mouse layered thing that was divine and my son had a key lime tart that was absolutely incredible! Cant wait to go back & try a pecan tart and of course carrot cake. Those and cheesecake are my favorite non-chocolate desserts. You wont believe what youve been missing until you try one if Danas truly AWESOME desserts.

Ill never do business with a person who drives dangerously and puts so many others in harms way, advertising a business on a vehicle is a great way to earn or discourage business. Drive safer, please! Slow down, especially where children are flocking in droves.

My wife and I stopped in to Desserts by Dana due to a coupon she received through a promo.(2 for1) We absolutely LOVED the moist cupcakes! The flavor was amazing! If I had any complaint it would be the size. I could have easily eaten 6! My wife was pleased with the size of them. The problem now is that we know it’s there & the cupcakes were only $2 ?! Will make it a point to order cakes there in the future for sure!!

I have had many awesome pleasurable experiencs at Desserts By Dana. The shop is like walking into Heaven. My 25 year old son calls it, Toystore for Adults. I call it Cake Heaven! Its so clean, bright and peaceful. The staff are friendly, funny, professional and speedy in customer service. I always feel like a VIP when I walk into Desserts by Dana. I have been exploring bakeries for over 18 years from NY, NC, LA,, GA, VA, PA, and DE and Chef Dana is by far the best Baker! His desserts are unique, tasty and breath taking. The many flavors and whimsical designs are awe inspiring. I look forward to each time I shop at Desserts by Dana. Chef Dana is the ONLY Baker I trust to make my unique Wedding Cake for June 2022.

From a moral standpoint I would not recommend this business. In the summer of 2020, an email was sent out to colleges for a cooking contest hosted/created by Chef Dana for students in minority Greek organizations to win a scholarship, laptop and line jacket. The format of the contest was for the students to purchase all of their own ingredients for recipes selected by Chef Dana, follow instructions and submit photos to be chosen as a winner. I entered into the contest which was originally supposed to be held in July. After buying ingredients a few days before the event, it was rescheduled to August, and the same patterned continued. I purchased ingredients for new contest date to have the date pushed back again and again. Eventually the contest occurred November 7th 2020. I attended the virtually instruction session for the dishes, submitted my photos for judging and was notified on November 17th that I was the winner of the contest yet this information was not to be announced publicly yet.I reached out multiple times to Chef Dana via email & Instagram direct message to coordinate the collection of my prizes. February 2021 I received a scholarship send to my school yet not my laptop and line jacket. Multiple times again I emailed, called, wrote letters and asked other people to help me on my behalf to get my other two items yet I received no response. I filed a complaint this summer with the Better Business Bureau in order to help with this matter and received no contact from Chef Dana or his staff. Today I checked my PO Box and found a box with a laptop in poor condition (scratched, sticky residue, outdated, not working camera, Chromebook therefore limited functions for academic work) in a reusable grocery bag and a filthy laptop charger and no line jacket.In conclusion, I am unsure how the items from this location taste. Yet as a nutritional sciences student who was hoping for support from a community leader, I have been let down and disappointed by this organization and would not recommend it due to their lack of morals with how they treat their audience.

Great deserts! Friendly customer service.These people do cannoli RIGHT! They fill the cannoli as they are ordered. Nothing worse than a soggy cannoli. They do it the way Im used to getting them in Phillys Italian Market. I have a new go-to bakery.

I had my wedding cake catered from here in August of 2019, and I will tell you it was the most delicious wedding cake you will ever taste!! When we were planning my cake with Dana, I wanted pieces of gold leafing down the cake. It’s not a super common design, so I made it clear that if he couldn’t do it then I’d be fine with a plain white cake with flowers. Dana assured me he could do it and drew out exactly what I had in my mind onto paper. I showed him pictures of cakes with chunky gold layers on them that I didn’t like and told him that that was what I was afraid my cake would turn out like. He assured me that would not happen. On my wedding day, it did happen. The cake was exactly what I didn’t want my cake to look like and that is really frustrating when you pay so much for a cake. When my mom returned the cake plate to Dana (which was not even the cake plate we asked for), she showed him the picture of the cake and a picture of his drawing of what the cake should have looked like. He acknowledged that they were very different and he’d have to check what happened to it. There was no apology, there was no money back for their mistake, there was nothing. That’s what is really frustrating to me, but at least it was tasty.

Always a pleasure to go to this bakery. The treats are amazing and his cakes are great. I travel from Pennsylvania to have him make my kids birthday cakes. He has flavors I cant find anywhere else. It never fails that I go to pick up my cake and cant help but buy $40+ in additional treats. Its a 30-40 minute drive for me but sooooo worth it

I went to this shop Friday to get desserts for a girls movie night shop is beautiful. The faux cakes on display were gorgeous I was so excited so I ordered a little bit of everything. The cupcakes were dry, the mini-cakes weren’t fresh the cake layers were dry. Cheesecake was basic. So disappointed I thought this was going to be an amazing experience I love desserts not sure I’ll be back.

We used Desserts by Dana for our wedding cake. VERY delicious and moist cake on the inside & so beautiful on the outside!! Our guests thought the cake was fake. My only issue was when I called in the girls on the phone were pretty rude, and this almost made me switch vendors. But I looked past the employees attitudes and went with the better cake!

I was amazed when I walked into my wedding venue Saturday and saw the cake Desserts by Dana created. So beautiful. We got a cookies and cream cake with peacock feathers on stenciled onto the icing. Friendly staff, great selection of desserts. If you are going to have dessert, get it from here. The chocolate items are to die for. If you plan to go out for dinner, plan ahead and get something here instead. I cant wait to try their cupcakes.

We frequently visit the bakery for cup cakes and individual mini cakes. A must try is the mango cheese cake. Awesome cakes with great service. They also made our wedding cake a few years ago it was beautiful. The flavorful cake was delicious and we received many compliments. Even after our 1-year anniversary from frozen it was still moist

Prices are outrageous! Its so hard to find a reasonable bakery around here. A single cake for 10 people or so was over 50.00! it cant cost that much to make! a cupcake ran me 4.00, series sells them for .95!

I really want to give this place more stars, but I cant, and it boils down to customer service! Ive been hooked on Death by Chocolate for about 7 years now, generally only having it at a local Wilmington restaurant, as they offer multiple desserts by the bakery....This was the second time I went into the actual bakery to purchase. Both times I waited more than 2 minutes for any greet, even though we were the only couple in there and I could clearly see the employees from my stance in front of the display case. And both times I was made to feel VERY uncomfortable about being waited on when they finally did come out of the office--- as if me wanting to give their business money was a huge inconvenience. After every selection I made, I was rudely asked if is that all? (Im sorry for wanting to spend $40 on 5 things, shame on me, LOL).Generally, I would have just shaken it off everyone has bad days( Im in the industry too, but BOTH times Im been here? And from the same lady?? Come on!),but my husband, who NEVER says anything/stays neutral stated we werent going to be spending our money here again after the worker decided to correct my pronunciation of Macarons/Macaroons when deciding to add some to our order at the end.If you want to feel ridiculed & silly for wanting some local baked goods, be sure to stop by Desserts for Dana.

Purchased my grandsons 21st Birthday cake from here all I can say is 2 thumbs up & I highly recommend you purchase your next dessert for whatever occasion from here. You will not be disappointed!

We were visiting in Pennsylvania and needed dessert to take to a dinner. We were referred to Desserts by Dana, which we thought opened at 9 am. We arrived at 9:35, dismayed to learn it opened at 10. A very kind employee saw us at the door, opened up and sold us some of the best desserts weve ever had!! Wonderful customer service as well at desserts that were a huge hit at the dinner! Thank you.

Excellent desserts and cakes for events! Death by Chocolate is literally one of my favorite desserts ever. Reliable and really able to execute/create cakes that fall in line with my vision (have used him for shower cakes, groom cake, wedding cake and birthday cakes for children!). Flavor of cake and filling have always been amazing! You cant go wrong!!!

I love having this bakery in my neighborhood. It is my go to place when I want something sweet and special. I actively encourage people to try my two favorite options--Southern Lemon or Death by Chocolate--as both full desserts or tarts as an introduction to the bakerys offerings. Chef Dana was a professional artist with our wedding cake! His staff from tasting to delivery were prompt. His tasting accommodated my cousins rambunctious 4 year old in to the mix easily. The cake fillings and buttercream were all delicious, which made it hard to choose! We ended up choosing 3 different combinations: marble cake with cannoli filling, orange cake with buttercream, almond cake with chocolate mousse. The piping beaded design on the cake matched my dress. Sending him photos the cake was fantastic! They even boxed up our top tier for our one year anniversary for us. Thank you!

First of all! Holy carrot cake.Dana created my dream wedding cake! It was beyond my expectations. Not only was it beautiful but it also tasted amazing. I cannot put into words how gorgeous this cake was, it was grand and regal, it simply took my breath away. Yes I shared pics because... angles. Four flavors of deliciousness. Anddd it was brought to me to NYC. I can look at it all day.

This place has wonderful customer service, Excellent Desserts at Reasonable Prices. My Daughter and Son in Law loved their Wedding Cake, my other children always wants Danas Desserts at the Birthdays. We had a wonderful Custom Sheet Cake for our Family Reunion and many of the Reunion participants have requested that I bring that Cake back again this year.

Whenever I need Dana and his team (even if its last minute), theyre willing to deliver! My favorite desserts are: peanut butter cheesecake and death by chocolate. My favorite cake flavor is vanilla chocolate chip.

Im glad to say we used Dana even before he was on the show and we knew he had the potential to do big things!!! His service was always excellent, his talent second to none! We even have him do our prom cakes every year for our proms and they are always the centerpiece and placed for everyone to see as they enter the room. All of the students stand around the cake for pictures. We also do his pie fundraiser and we raise a ton of money around the holiday season for students in our school. They have some of the best profit margins and they simply sell themselves when people see a celebrity chef pie at a great price before the holidays! Im glad to support this great business!

Reliable, Dependable business that creates great tasting cakes and pastries!I needed a Sesame Street Cake designed for my daughters birthday party to serve 40 children and adults. The problem was i needed it in two weeks!I contacted Desserts by Dana and they took the image i wanted from thought and created a larger than life cake that fed well over the 40 guest. I drove from the Suburbs of Pa. to Delaware to get this cake and it was well worth the trip.My wife and our daughter loved the cake, and our guest took his information down to order for their upcoming events. We order mocha cake .. It was disgusting.. Frosting was so hard n sticky. Tasted like expired cake.. May be they are good for wedding n party orders as they make it fresh.. But not at all satisfied with cake piece . I will never go there again.

Let me tell you this...Chef danas Mango Cheesecake is my sweet tooths orgasm. I literally go into his bakery about once a week to purchase one. The staff is always so friendly and accommodating. One time I had my lady coming home from a long trip and Chef Dana created some Beautiful Hello Kitty tarts..talk about Heaven! I won some points from my lady that day....ha ha ha.

For starters, our cake was absolutely beautiful, and tasted just as good as it looked. It was everything Dana and I had discussed. He definitely did not disappoint. My husband and I got married 1 year ago, and I waited to write this review until now for a reason. You always hear how eating your cake topper 1 year later is always so disappointing because its soggy and flavorless. I asked Dana how to prevent it from tasting so awful. We followed his instruction and they did not disappoint. It wasnt too soggy or dry, and it still tasted like a cake and not the cardboard it was wrapped in.

Desserts By Dana is my go to bakery! The delicious taste of the cakes, pies and other desserts are second to none. I refer all my clients, family and friends there are well. When you are looking for something different or a unique taste this is the place to go.

Best place for cakes in the town . I got my birthday cake from Dana and it was awesome. French macrons and carrot cake is must to be tried. They taste amazing.

Ive had cakes from Dana for a few special occasions and they ALWAYS turn out to be the highlight of the event. Not ashamed to say Ive gone so far as driving multiple hours to deliver cupcakes requested by my girlfriend...needless to say, she was not disappointed.

Everything Ive tried by Desserts by Dana has been excellent, As a tea professional I truly enjoy the Scones! My favorite is Blueberry Ginger😍 The staff is great and the customer service is outstanding!

Pretentious, no follow through, poor workmanship.It seems to me when Dana tries he knocks it out of the park but those times are not as often as it should be. I recommend buying a Betty Crocker mix and giving it a go yourself because it cant be much worse!!!

I have been getting cakes from DBD since 2013 & not once have I been disappointed. Especially when it came to executing my vision. From start (ordering via phone) to finish (picking up my cake) the staff was very courteous, pleasant & understanding.Not only did I have cakes that looked good, they tasted scrumptious!!!!DBD is definitely my go to bakery for every event!!!

My friend hired this baker to make a wonderful cake for her wedding. However, the cake had many flaws. To top it off the baker was not willing to fix it not has he returned calls regarding the unprofessional cake he was hired to make.

I ordered a full winter wonderland themed dessert bar from Dana and what an AWESOME experience! It was for a lunch at my place of employment. The customer service experience from start to finish was fabulous! The desserts and candies were par to none (even the desserts for diabetics too) AND the entire winter wonderland theme was exquisitely breathtaking! The ooows and the ahhhhs from my co-workers along with the plethora of compliments and pictures they took of the bar prior to delving into the sweet delicacies was a delight to see! Outstanding desserts everytime I order. The butter cream cake I last ordered was the star of my sisters graduation celebration. The cake was as appealing to the eye as it was the taste buds. Also, the creme brûlée from the shop was the best my wife ever had and that is her favorite dessert.

My wife graduated from nursing school in February 2016 so I called desserts by Dana. Chef Dana took my order personally over the phone and made her dream cake that she was absolutely amazed with. Mixed reviews on this special occasion carved cake. I provided a picture of what I had in mind for a going away party. It turned out great looking so was excited that the taste would equal or exceed my expectations. The cake itself was moist and flavorful but the buttercream was overkill. Much of the cake was just buttercream shaped into the state vs icing on a truly carved cake. Youll see in the pictures on Yelp the amount of icing covering the whole cake edges and the sparse layer of cake on the bottom with a thick buttercream center. For $200 I expect more professional construction. Ive had cake boss cakes and others carved cakes (for half the price) and was hoping this could be a local solution vs driving far. The design got the ooohs and ahhhs, but was a disappointment in quality.

Ive visited this establishment three times so far and each time I have been satisfied with service and pproduct. Ive walked in and ordered from the bakery case. Ive eaten the cupcakes and the towers and both have been delicious. The Death by Chocolate tower is aahhh-mazing and so decadent. The red velvet is also very delicious. Prices are fair being as thought this is an upscale/ specialty bakery.
