What an aggravating place to deal with! Its almost as if they just dont care.I moved to Newbury recently, and am renovating an older home. Stopped in to the location on Low Street, as its the closest lumberyard to me, and I prefer to shop local. The guy at the counter was busy on his computer and barely glanced at me. When I got his attention I explained a little about my project (siding and windows...) and that I was looking for advice on brands and options. He confessed he didnt know much about it, but would have one of the salesmen get back to me by email.Received a brief email from him, CCing me and the salesperson. A week later, I hadnt heard boo, so I sent another email, asking if they had forgotten me. Received a phone call from the sales guy, and I explained my project, he said hed get back to me with options and pricing. Again, ghosted for a week. Replied to the original email chain again, and the original counter guy responded, saying that oh, the salesman decided that he wasnt experienced enough to answer your questions, so were going to have someone else contact you. Sure would have been nice for the sales guy to have told me that upfront that he was passing me on to someone more experienced, but ok.Again, no word for another week of so. Final email inquiry from me received no response, so I purchased around $19K worth of siding and windows from another local yard.I know that lumber dealers are insane right now with shortages due to the pandemic, and maybe they just want to deal with contractors rather than random homeowners, but...
Painful... they can’t even turn on their phones in the morning sometimes. Have been calling all day. No answer. Also never has account information updated and current. No one there cares about the customer. Go elsewhere for your lumber needs. Just awful.
